Hey Guys and Gals
Smartwatches have been gathering pace for the past few months, but with IFA 2014 just around the corner, we're bound to see a lot more hit the streets this coming season. We have just heard about the leaked specs for the LG G watch R and the Samsung Gear S, so lets take some time to compare the two devices. Both companies have taken a very different approach on their latest releases, LG opting to ditch the square screen in favor of a circular display, while Samsung have raised the bar of the traditional, and opted to use its curved screen technology. The practicality of both has yet to be decided, so comparing these two should be interesting.
So lets compare some of the devices features:
Connectivity:
The Gear S is the first smartwatch to feature full 3G connectivity, enabling it to function independently of its "parent" device. It's still unknown which devices will be compatible with the gear S, but with SIM support, this one has to go to the Gear S.
Display Size:
The G Watch R's circular display looks great, giving it a "classic" watch look, but this is at the expense of screen real estate. With the Gear S having approximately 44% greater screen size, the Gear S is the clear victor.
Display Shape:
Here is where the two companies have taken a very different approach. The circular display of the LG G Watch R gives it that retro look, but we're yet to see how practical these circular displays will be. Sure they look great as a watch, but will all of the smartwatch functions transfer well to the round display. The same could be said of the Gear S, its curved display is a first and how this will translate to everyday function is yet to be seen. Until we get some hands on, we will go on looks alone. Given both have a very "unique" look, we're going to have to call it a tie, as its down to personal preference.
Display PPI:
With both devices sporting ppi of over 200, they both should be reasonably sharp. The Gear S does jump slightly ahead with a ppi of 300, the G Watch R trailing behind with around 250 ppi Numbers don't lie, winner Gear S.
Software:
Here's the biggest difference between the two, one running Samsung's own Tizen OS and LG's on Google's Android Wear. Wears's superior voice command has always been better than Samsung's offering, but as the Gear S will be receiving an updated version, we're yet to see how well they will compare. The Tizen OS does allow direct voice calls with the smartwatch, something we're yet to see in Google's Android Wear. Until we get a hands on, this one is a draw.
Heart Rate Monitor:
LG has added a heart rate meter over its predecessor, so ticks for both.
Fitness Tracking:
Big thumbs up for both of these devices, they can track overall daily steps, or individual workouts. Great to keep track of distance traveled and calories burnt.
Water Resistance:
Both devices feature full IP67 water and dust resistance.
Processor, RAM:
Without more information, we're going to have to go from the raw numbers. The G watch packs a 1.2GHz quad core processor, with the Samsung a 1GHz dual core. As LG lists the Snapdragon 400 chipset, its likely to be the same as the first G watch. Both devices have 512MB of RAM. From the numbers, winner G Watch R.
Thanks to TotalTechWar for the Vid
Looking forward to hearing members thoughts on how these devices compare, both have taken a very different approach on the smartwatch. who will be victorious?
I still think features or not, for me a watch needs to look like a watch. Hmm no Moto360 to compare too? Lol guess we will see soon enough!

We received an interesting tip today about a new LG Android smartphone named Optimus 4X. While the above render is not that conclusive, the thir screenshot reveals some rather interesting hardware specifications.
If this tip turns to be in some way true, LG Optimus 4X smartphone at its 8mm thin will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, boasts a 5.3 OLED HD touchscreen (an outrages 2650×1900 pixel resolution i would say), powered by a 2.2GHz processor, Mali T-604 GPU, 2.5 MB of RAM, 64GB of ROM (built-in memory storage), 4G LTE technology (up to 75Mbps), microSD card slot up to 32GB and a 3200mAh battery.
LG Optimus 4X also could sport an 18MP camera on the back, NFC-enabled, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and more. The whole list of specs looks out of this world for an Android device but in a world where the first Android tablet runs a Quad-core CPU since 2011. Who knows what 2012 has in stored for us. Anyways take it with a pinch of salt until get any kind of confirmation.

The phone is gonna be massive?
-My life is a shooting range, people never change-
LG needs to establish itself as one of the top phone manufacturers. This is the kind of phone that would put them on top.
Sounds like somebody just added all his wet dreams into one model and then just doubled all values for good measure going "teheeheeeee". That phone is physically impossible to build atm inside a reasonably small and thing phonesized case, I'd say. Plus, a way to large jump. Why would a maker give up all the sales he can do with minute little improvements from year to year? That Mali GPU must be a wonfrous chip, if it wants to beat all other phones at 3D speed at that resolution. But who knows, maybe the pictrues are misleading and it's actually a huge brick

No I don't think vapourware will help LG. This is very very fake.

Just saying, I would buy any phone if it had a 2650×1900 resolution (at a reasonable price).
But yeah... definitely a fake.
The comparison written in Korean said...
the UI is Touchwiz 5.0
and the Screen using OLED isn't make sense.
I guess it is fake about the spec..
The one who post that comparison make a mistake, or a joke to us.
but, who knows? only LG does..
But one thing I'm pretty sure, LG would name one device called 4X in the future.
this is a fake news and fotos
if design on real phone, was like the one on pictures - this phone would be priceless)

normally I would avoid something like this at all costs, since there is nothing anywhere about it, but buying it through Amazon is about as safe as it gets, so you should be ok even if it is bogus..

I'll admit I was pretty interested in this when I saw it. So I watched the video and it looks pretty good, really in depth actually so when he skips over anything to do with the dialer
or doesn't bother to show it in action either from the watch dialing or receiving a call I got pretty skeptical. Then the specs listed on the website and in the video state 4GB of storage (like the GEAR) but he then states it only has 1.16gb available? While scrolling thru the settings you clearly see it says 2GB of storage. One cool thing was remote Bluetooth access to the watches camera or the phones camera thru the other device i.e. you can look at the phones screen and see what the watch camera sees. I'd love to hear your experience when you get it. Thanks, good luck!

Hey all
I thought it may be an idea to create a thread to compare Samsung's two current flagship devices, the Note 4 and S5. While we usually see these two flagships announced at the same time, this year we have best part of a six month gap. For me the S-Pen is a must, which is why I've stuck with the note series since the original. But how much of a deal breaker is this for others?
Design
Next we have the exterior, its great to see Samsung finally embrace a metal finish. The note 3 had a metallic looking strip around the edge, while sure it looked good, the feel of it was always a disappointment. The note 4 fixes this by using the real deal around the exterior edge, giving much more of a premium feel. The S5 sticks with the same plastic fantastic approach, but is smaller and easier to handle due to its more rounded design. Although the use of metal gives the note 4 more of a high-end device look and feel, would anybody take the S5 due to its reduced size and weight?
Display
While we're on the subject of size, it brings us to the display. Both devices use the same SAMOLED technology, just the Note 4's being considerably larger. This is to be expected as they are aimed at different audiences. The Note 4’s 5.7-inch 2,560 x 1,440 pixel display gets you pixel density of 515ppi, compared to the S5's 5.1-inch 1080 x 1920 pixels screen bringing 432ppi. Anything over 350ppi will give a sharp display, and its still in debate if these massive resolutions are of any actual benefit to screens of this size. What would members thoughts be on this be?
Performace
So the nitty-gritty, which is faster? As we have different versions of both devices, we will stick to the Quad core versions as its the one we will see in the UK. Both use very similar Quad core chipsets, the Snapdragon 801 running at 2.5GHz in the S5 and a Snapdragon 805 at 2.7GHz in the Note 4, both are very snappy processors and will perform well, but its hardly a massive leap when we take the time period that's passed. The real difference is in GPU power, the Note 4 packs an Adreno 420 which is claimed to be around 40% faster than the S5's Adreno 330, of course the Note 4 has a lot more pixels to "push" so how this equates to real world performance is yet to be seen. On the face of it we have two very similar devices in way of performance, it may be down to if you like playing games etc. Looking forward to members thoughts on this:good:
Camera
Both devices come with 16 MP sensors, but we have a big difference, the S5 uses one made by Samsung featuring its ISOCELL technology, while the Note 4 uses a Sony IMX240 sensor. Quite why this has happened is a mystery, but we can only speculate that its down to production, possibly working on the S6's new camera?
While the Note 4's camera may be lagging somewhat behind the S5's due to the use of the more traditional camera technology, both are likely to perform well. One thing the S5 lacks is optical image stabilization, this should give the Note 4 an edge in low-light snaps. On the flip-side, the S5 has hybrid phase detection auto-focus, this is used in DSLR cameras and is quicker than the pure contrast detection auto-focus used in the Note 4.
Summary
Two high-end smartphones, both with their benefits. Please post why you would pick one over the other. Would the size and price of the Note 4 be a put-off and S5's reduced price but similar performance appeal?
This thread has been permitted by the moderation team, and is intend for sensible discussions comparing these two devices and their features. Any trolling or flaming will be reported to the moderation team and dealt with.
Are we sure the note 4's camera doesn't have phase detect AF as well?

Between all the flagship phablets released in 2014, what do you think is the most worthy opponent to the Note 4 to be considered before you go and buy the note 4.
I am evaluating my options here, and considering other phones like the LG G3 beside the Note 4.
Share what do you think is a worthy opponent to the note 4.
In terms of the Note 3 Zero.
No SPen = no competitors.
None are in the same class in terms of multi app usage either.
I'm considering a Z3, and if an HTC M8 Maxx was out, I would consider that too...My wife's G3 is a pretty nice phone as well.
If a stylus is important to you, then obviously there is NO competition..
The way I see it we have four options
1) a worthy oponent to the note 4 would be another colour of the note 4, say you have a black one then a white one would be a worthy oponent.
2) a note edge maybe
3) a note 3
4) if you dont want to spend so much money that is then the oneplus one.
These are my opinions.
There are no opponents to the note line to be totally honest.
I see xda site got a facelift.

i dont have any personal grudge against that phone, but the poor display talks for itself
There's nothing comparable when it comes to display. Displaymate says its the best mobile display ever. The closest is probably the iPhone 6+ 1080p display if you don't count the QHD which most people don't care about, and it is a distant second. That's what you get when you are the only ones with modern OLED tech on a phone.
Nothing comparable to the Snapdragon 805 of the Exynos either. I mean, literally there are no 805 phones yet and definitely no 20nm Exynos phones which is, again, a Samsung exclusive.
S-Pen and wacom digitizer. Of course no one has it.
Camera nothing is comparable. All those crappy Chinese phablets use the same 13MP sensor with terrible software processing. The Vibe Z2 Pro supposedly has the same 16MP OIS sensor, but I've seen more than a few reviews of it and the quality really sucks. Software does a whole lot, and the glass and camera unit they built the sensor into is likely not that great either. LG G3 isn't very sharp and their low light shots are very overexposed. and blur easy because they rely heavily on the OIS. Xperia Z2/Z3 is low contrast, underexposed, noisy, poor colors, and very inconsistent. It has no OIS either. The only superior cameras are iPhone 6/6+ for nightshots, and Nokia Pureview cameras. Basically nothing can compete with the Note 4 in Android. Android just really sucks with cameras in general.
another none here, but come to think of it little more, Note 3 is actually the only opponent. Others have no stylus and therefore not in the same class, Note 2 is little outdated. I know it's bad since my choices for phone are limited to 2 models, but I refuse to have phone without stylus.

After the big launch of all metal UMi TOUCH, a 4000mAH big battery, front touch ID and a 13MP Sony camera, the company is now busing moving forward to the next flagship phone.
Our source just confirmed the bazeless phone early rumored as TOUCH X is called UMi SUPER.
Here today we got a design photo showing that the UMi SUPER might equip with Dual-camera.
Unlike the LG G5, Huawei P9 or the latest rumored iPhone 7 pro is following the led, the two cameras are not sitting side by side of each other at the top, instand, the SUPER camera lining up along with the dual flash LED.
They says the Dual-camera is the future of mobile photography because of the hardware limits. There’s only so much you can achieve within the tight constraints of a device that’s less than 9mm thick, and phone companies are looking for alternative means to keep improving.
the camera looks like meizu pro 6.

Yeah, the design in general looks like Meizu
It seems it will have super amoled Display.
UMi SUPER to have Super AMOLED screen for VR
One of the best feature SAMSUNG phone is the Super AMOLED display. In a Super AMOLED display, a touch-sensor is placed over the display (on-cell). The thickness of the touch sensor is just 0.001 mm and this allows the screen to provide better images and to have great visibility even in direct sunlight (Samsung says that they perform 20% better than regular touch AMOLED outdoors).
It seems like Super AMOLED is the most ideal display that deserve to be called “Super Screen”. UMi is likely thinking the same as us. Our insider today leak out the news that UMi SUPER probably will use Super AMOLED to make it as “Super Screen” and live up the name “UMi
Beside, a smartphone with Super AMOLED display will enhance the VR experience. UMi the company already launched their first VR on Amazon. We have all the reason to believe the UMi SUPER will be the next killer along with the VR market.
We don’t have further info yet but we don’t think the SUPER phone will be out anytime soon. So while we are waiting for the truth, the company now is running a giveaway for their current best selling flagship - UMi TOUCH.
Why not to take the chance to test your luck today?!
Mod Edit by @Darth : Link to selling site removed. No more please.
More news about this Umi Super.
UMi Super to have 4000mAh+ battery of its metal body
Battery life and capacity has been a feature that Chinese phone makers have looked at carefully in 2015. Over the past year battery sizes have gotten larger, charging faster and processors more energy-efficient in a bid to give you as much usage through the day.
UMi have also been keen to offer the longest battery life possible and it was made known early on in the company’s latest flagship UMi TOUCH.
Today the company is confirmed the new phone UMi Super will come with 4000mAh battery + quick charging technology via UMi forum. The company also claimed that 5mins charged with UMi Super Quick charging technology support 2hours calling and 30mins charged can last for one day light usage.
Thread cleaned. No more links to sites with sales. Thanks!
Wonder if this phone will have as good/better build than the UMi Touch.
