Hi guys,
I'm new to the android world. I just got a HTC Sensation XL from a friend who says it doesn't work right anymore after he dropped it on the floor. So now I try to repair the thing, because I could keep it.
The problem ohone stuck on HTC Logo and won't boot. It's possible to get it in bootloader and it looks like this:
*LOCKED*
S-ON
HBoot: 1.25.0004
I dont get a connection to the PC, but after first time plug-in it installed the drivers.
So now my question is how can I get an new Ruu on this phone. What are the different possiblities.
Till now I downloaded this to versions:
2.31.401.2_Europe
1.05.401.4_Europe.
don't know which to use. Installed HTCSnyc to but it didn't find the phone.
So hope u guys will help me out
Thanks
Well I just tried 1.05.401.4but it didnt work. My CID is HTC_Y13.
Now downloading 2.31.401.2...
The 1.05 is for Gingerbread and the 2.31 is for ICS with sense 3.6. If you just want it stock and you are downloading 2.31.40.2 for europe then it should work. If it is not working, then take the long way.
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Flash a recovery
3. Root
4. S-off
Now after all this go run the ruu file and it should work.
Remeber after you have installed htc sync and you are going to try flash recovery or something , uninstall htc sync again.
Also a reminder , you can do the most of it via my tool, just not the unlock bootloader, that is still from htcdev.com but the tool will give you the code that is needed to copy into htcdev.com

Hey I don't get it. I want to try the "simple" way first. But what do I have to do? I uninstalled HTCSync now and unzipped zhe 2.31.401.2_Europe and now? How can i start this on my HTC Sensation XL? The phone doesn't get a connection with the computer. Should I put the phone in bootloader mode an then got to recovery ?
Sorry for this silly questions, I normally use an other OS instead of anroid. Maybe you can give me a link with a step by step intrduction or you can describe a little bit what I have to do.
Greetz
You will need to go and download it like an .exe file
The one you are missing for europe ICS is here : Download and boot phone normal and run the .exe file
if that link does not working then here and press the white button and this text : 下载
Hey thanks for the quick answer the problem is the phone stuck on HTC Logo and doesn't boot the symstem. Is there a possiblity to get a new Ruu version on it maybe with the bootloader? BEcasue bootlader starts and windows detects the phone.
then you either need to send it in or do it your self. Just unlock the bootloader and flash recovery, flash a rooted rom, boot it up and root it then s.off it and again from fully booted start the ruu file
Hmm ok than I have to do that, but do u have an step by step description what to do first, with what files?
Thanks for your help
go to the thread where you find my tool. runnymede AIO tool , in my signature
So it's me again.
I have now a cutsom ROM on my phone this one "Total_Senseless_SXL-v4.1.1"
My bootloader is unlocked and S-ON is still avaiable. How can I get now to a stock rom?
What do I have to use to relock my bootloader? After relocking I can install this ROM's?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791345
Or don't I have to relock it with the posted version of the thread? And I can simply "install" it like a custom rom?
Greetz
First i will like to ask you, what did not work with my tool ?
Next is try go to recovery and then mount sd card for pc.
Download my sd card fix from my signature and put it on the sd card and flash it. Then the sd card issue shold be gone
---------- Post added at 07:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:48 AM ----------
If it is from recovery that the sd card fails in then you have not installed a proper working recovery. You should be able to boot the phone up and then enable Debugging in settings on the phone and then press either CWM recovery or TWRP recovery in my tool and it should reboot to bootloader, flash the recovery then reboot to system again.
If it is not working for you. Please tell me it so i can fix it
Sv: Sensation XL instal Ruu.exe
Better to use TWRP recovery than cwm.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio X315e using xda app-developers app
My bad. 1.05.401.4 worked just fine when I put S-ON back and ran the file when phone was in fastboot.
Hi after a second try it worked. But I didn't test anything. Just installed a new CWM 6.anything I think.
So in this way there is nothing to fix on recovery mode or sd card. I just worked wrong with the program.
So I'm still on this custom rom: Total_Senseless_SXL-v4.1.1
can I simply take one of this versions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791345
and do it like the custom rom update? Means wipe all data and then install this ROM from the thread above ? Are these rom's stock rom's? Don't understand it because the thread title says stock AND root?
I just want to install a stock (original HTC) version on my custom rom
Sorry for the silly questions but there re so much guides that I don't know what to do

Install that Europe Version of GingerBread.
When finish let it boot and when setup is finish update via OTA to ICS..
If this doesnt work then S-off with this. ----->

You will change your hboot version. Use that 4445 version in download. Its unsecure hboot.
Follow the ADB steps carefully and when done reboot into bootloader again. Flash custom recovery like TWRP
Wipe cache,dalvik,system
Then reboot into bootloader again
FastbootADB and run the RUU from PC

Have you tried doing a full wipe in recovery, including system, then formatting so that it wipes the OS aswell ... Then try doing a clean install using your OTG and see if you still have any issues. Are you using TWRP or CWM btw? I often do what I mentioned to do a clean install but I use TWRP, I assume you can do the same in CWM though.
I don't understand what you mean with the frequent mentions of "date". You could always try running the RUU if it's available for your region/carrier and see if that resolves it.

Hello, this is my first time on XDA so if I make any mistakes please forgive me .
I have unlocked the bootloader on my Sprint HTC One m7, and I can't find any guides on how to root my phone with its current stock Andriod version. It has version 4.4.2 with HTC version 6.0. Can anyone point me towards a good guide?
Thanks!

Welcome to xda!
Since your bootloader is already unlocked, then all you need to do is to flash a custom recovery like TWRP.
With the recovery.img in the same folder where you have adb and fastboot and your phone booted in bootloader/fastboot usb mode, open a command prompt and type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
then reboot in recovery mode by selecting "recovery" in the bootloader. Once booted in TWRP recovery, just select to reboot to system and the recovery will detect that your phone isn't rooted and will ask if you want to root it. Select "yes". Then once rebooted in the OS, you should have supersu in your app drawer.
Don't forget sprint variant of the One isn't the same phone as the international gsm variant so always flash files (Custom recovery/ custom roms/ Custom kernel) compatible for sprint (M7WLS sometime called M7SPR)

You'll maybe not be able to update. When you unlock the bootloader, /data/preload and its content is wiped (some of HTC preloaded apps, weather animations etc). These apps are sometime updated during an ota update and if they are missing, like after unlocking the bootloader. the ota installation will fail. You also need to flash your stock recovery back before an ota update.

Try re download the zip (or try an other rom)maybe you just got an false download. i also had some trouble with my m7 back in the day.
But in your case now you are stuck with no os or bootloop, i give you as advice to follow an soft unbrick method it worked for me, or if you have an usb otg cable and usb or and usb otg thumbstick, put the rom on that usb and connect it to your phone and then try to flash it (if your using twrp you have an option to choose from wich storage you want to use)
Also a piece of advice, when flashing roms, kernels etc please have your phone charged above 50% (just in case).

Can you please post the output of
Code:
fastboot getvar all
please remove your imei and serial number.
Depending on which variant of the M7 you have you probably just need a different version of recovery to install a CM rom. I think they prefer TWRP 2.7.x.x. Post the getvar and we can see what you have. then I can give you a better informed instruction. :good:
P.s also check the md5 of the rom zip you downloaded. Use this tool www.winmd5.com the correct md5 should be listed with the link you downloaded the rom from
failed to mount /dev/block/blah blah blah = needs "block:by-name" support which twrp 2.6.3.3 doesn't have
everything explained here
So update your recovery
and do what danny said above so he can confirm you have the right rom/recovery for your device.

Your getvar looks fine this rom should work fine with your device. Download this version of TWRP https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358561860 (2.7.1.2). dropthe file in your fastboot folder and flash it with fastboot.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery "name-of-recovery".img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Once thats done reflash the rom with the new version of TWRP. It should flash just fine :good:

There are a number of ways to return to stock software. You can simply flash a stock rom through twrp or use a stock nandroid. look for rom that match your version main. 7.19.401.22
I think there is even an lollipop 7.19.401.22 RUU for your device but I'm not sure if it will work with s-on though because it's a zip but it certainly wouldnt hurt to try it though. You will need to relock your bootloader and flash it with fastboot.
I'll edit this post with links when I find them unless some one beats me to it

Sorry I am at work so availability is scetchy. I found the ruu but it's for the older 7.19.401.2 lollipop, this won't work for you because your s-on. Downgrading firmware is only possible with s-off.
You can use this stock rom though http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/development/rom-100-pure-stock-5-0-2-7-19-401-2-t3044041 just flash it with twrp. The thread recommends TWRP 2.8.5.X no need to relock the bootloader or anything silly, just flash it like any other rom :good:
You'll notice that this rom is also for the older 7.19.401.2 so you will need to install the last OTA update to bring your rom in line with your firmware. Flash this recovery with the same method as twrp. (Stock recovery required for installing the OTA) http://sourceforge.net/projects/htcone/files/Recovery/STOCK/7.19.401.2_recovery.img/download reboot then just go to Settings>About>Check for updates.

Okay try this. Download the OTA but select the option "Install Later" connect your m7 to your pc and browse your storage. In the download folder on your phone you should find the OTA in zip format. Copy it to your pc.
Now open the OTA zip on your pc. Inside you'll find another zip called "firmware.zip" extract it then open it. Inside you'll find a recovery.img. extract the recovery file and flash it with fastboot. Now reboot to android and continue to install the OTA. :fingers-crossed:

Yes you will need to unlock the bootloader to flash the recovery, Dont forget to fastboot erase cache after flashing the recovery that is cruicial. You don't need to be relocked to install the OTA though.
When you select install now, the device should reboot to the Stock Recovery. At first the screen will just be black for a short while. Then you'll see an image of a phone with a Green ring and download arrow. If you hold Volume up and press the power button you will see the Stock Recovery and its progress in installing the OTA.
I'm not sure why your device was hanging on boot after installing the OTA. Maybe a bad recovery.img. that's why I say to get the recovery from the OTA file.
its still not working so i mite just install twrp and restore to cm12.1

Then you'll see an image of a phone with a Green ring and download arrow. If you hold Volume up and press the power button you will see the Stock Recovery and its progress in installing the OTA.
I'm not sure why your device was hanging on boot after installing the OTA. Maybe a bad recovery.img. that's why I say to get the recovery from the OTA file.

Your still stuck with this? Try starting the process over, but do not relock your bootloader at any point.
Wipe system data and cache partitions with TWRP Advanced wipe
Flash the Rom with twrp as a clean install.
Reboot and download the OTA. Choose install later, then copy the OTA to your pc. Extract the Stock Recovery and flash it with fastboot. Reboot and install the OTA.
But do not relock your boot loader. Because when you unlock the bootloader, it wipes the device including the data/preload folder. If the preload folder is not intact the OTA will fail

You should give more information like your bootloader version, recovery version, what programs have you tried etc.
Usually to root m7 you'll need:
1 - htc dev unlocked bootloader
2 - custom recovery like TWRP
3 - Supersu.zip to flash in recovery

I'll also add "make sure to use the latest supersu version" because old versions are known to cause bootloops when used on Lollipop+ roms. :good:
So i tried installing supersu with twrp but it was giving errors,I saw that i needed to wipe cache and stuff and so i did...Plus my stock htc one os.Now i am trying to install AOKP rom on my device but its giving error with the zip file and binaries

You haven't provided any information about your phone yet, like suggested by @macicgangsta. Please post the output of "fastboot getvar all" (hide your IMEI and SerialNo). What twrp version are you using and what supersu version? What was the errors when flashing supersu? When flashing the rom? What rom version is it exactly...? ideally post a link to that rom and/or everything else you've tried to flash.
