4.4.4 Stock-rooted Nexus 4 mirror = FC - Google Chromecast

Guys, I've searched XDA a lot, google too and didn't find anything. I need some help with screencasting/mirror.
I own a N4 with stock 4.4.4, rooted, with Xposed framework and CF.Lumen app. Everytime I try to mirror/screencast my phone to my chromecast (plugged directly to my TV), Google Play Services crashes with the "stopped unexpectedly" message, and the TV screen goes black.
I've tried lots of stuff, like:
removing CF.Lumen;
using the mirror enabler app FC fix;
using the mirror enable app remaining options;
uninstalling and reinstalling chromecast app;
disabling HDMI-CEC on the TV (Anynet+, as it's a Samsung).
Even with mirror enabler quicksettings option turned on, the tile never appears, regardless of GravityBox being active or not.
Casting from Allcast, Play Movies, Netflix, Google+, Youtube, Remotecast or any other app works perfectly. No issue at all.
I never installed Viper Audio (found a thread with it being the reason for screencast not to work) and audio.r_submix file is present (it's the stock ROM).
I feel like I may be missing something really simple, but I'm really lost.
Chromecast app version 1.7.4
Google Play Services 5.0.89 (1307510-036)
Chromecast firmware 17977, powered by an USB power adapter, plugged directly into one of the TV's HDMI ports.
WiFi network is 802.11g/n
Xposed modules:
AppOpsXposed
CrappaLinks
DisableLocationConsent
GravityBox
Greenify
SwypeTweaks

Double cast icons on stock chromecast after installing newest play services update

I installed the latest play services update so I could get Allcast working on chromecast. After installing it I got double cast icons when trying to use google music as shown in the attached pictures and they dont work reliably anymore. Anybody else experiencing the same issues and have a fix? I also installed a roku recently and not sure if that may also have something to do with the chromecast not behaving properly.

I assume you've rebooted since installing the Play Services update?
Roku shouldn't affect Chromecast.
Try rebooting your router in case it's some UPnP caching thing.
Odd since my device has the opposite affect....
I only have one CCast listing for each (I have two in use), But I have two entries for each XBMC on my Network.
I just figured it may be due to DLNA and UPnP both being supported by XBMC ad Allcast seeing each as a different target.

Thanks for the tips. Rebooted my router and it didnt change. I tried to cast using my windows laptop and each chromecast was only displayed 1 time and worked just fine so my issue is android specific. I am using a stock nexus 5. I also tried clearing cache and data on the chromecast android app and that did not work.

I saw that an AllCast update went out today so maybe it was a known bug that got fixed in the update...
Check the play Store to see if there is an Update available.

Force stop AllCast.
Flush apps Data and Cache.
Eventually if your phone is rooted, flush dalvik cache.
Reboot phone, it should work after reboot.
It's possible that you use illegitimate copy of a program, in such a case users with illegitimate copies usually uninstall and install app again.

Deleted allcast and the roku symbol on google music is gone which is good because when i tried to click roku on the cast pulldown menu in the google music app it would not do anything. But after restarting the phone the double chromecast icons are still there. I cant revert to the old version of the google play services which I feel may be the culprit for google music to be acting strange.
Same here get the double cast icons and neither one works

TuneIn App

So I got the Pioneer 8100NEX setup last night. After flashing OxygenOS on my phone (BlissPop wouldn't work due to the DPI issue) I am up and running with Android Auto. However, when going through the music app option all I have is Google Music. The other main app I use for tunes and general listening is TuneIn which, while installed and apparently should work, is not showing up. I searched the settings for TuneIn and didn't notice anything obvious. Is this a Pioneer setting I am going to wait for or am I missing something obvious? Thanks!
I realize this is a dusty post, but did you ever get TuneIn to appear in AA? I'm having the same issue on my Nexus 6P.
Allow me to spray some Pledge/Endust on this topic as well. I have a Moto X Pure Edition running TruPureXMM 2.6 and I just purchased a 2016 Honda Civic EX with Android Auto built-in. Everything about it works great: Maps, Hangouts, Play Music with voice search, the whole thing. EXCEPT: similar to the posters above, when touching the Audio button to see other apps, the only app listed is Google Play Music. I should also note that I have multiple Auto-compatible audio apps in addition to TuneIn Radio Pro; I also have BeyondPod, Pandora, and iHeartRadio. None of them appear. Google support is non-existent at this point, which is a little unsettling as more and more carmakers are offering stock options with Android Auto.
I'm not any kind of expert, but I'm wondering if this is a side effect of having a rooted and/or custom ROM installed. Mine is stock based for my phone but it is rooted and I see that the OP had a custom ROM as well. I don't know what you are running @monorailmedic. Any information or assistance from someone who has experienced this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Do you have any adblock app running on your phone?

Disabling AdAway had no effect. However, I believe I have resolved the issue.
I mentioned that I have TuneIn Radio Pro, but I did not mention that I got it through the Amazon App Store rather than Google Play. (It was a free app of the day many moons ago.) I installed the regular version of TuneIn from the Play Store and...voila, it appeared in Auto. Same thing with the other apps - I had installed them outside of Google Play, and apparently Auto doesn't like that. Reinstalling through the Play Store got me up and running.
I don't know if that scenario is also your issue @monorailmedic, but mine has been resolved this way.

I too got the Pro version from Amazon years ago when it was a freebie. I'll try downloading the version from the Play Store in the morning. I wrote to TuneIn today, so if this is the issue, it'd be swell if they provided me the key to the newer pro version via the Play Store.

In fact, I mentioned a possible block because IMHO the apps for Android Auto can't work if they aren't able to contact the Google Play store for license activation.

Interesting... Besides license validation of protected apps (which the dev controls) this is the first instance I recall hearing where sideloaded apps won't work.
Developers of AA compatible apps can't just sideload either, even just for testing. App has to go through Google Play as a special AA beta test.
Google requires that all AA compatible apps (and their updates) be tested by them and approved for not being distracting. This is part of their protection for that. Sideloaded or Amazon etc. apps can't be guaranteed to have gone through this testing. (Actually an MD5 of the APK or similar could be done, but that could be abused on rooted devices and Google prefers everything goes through Play anyway.)
So, how are you all using TuneIn? I've been immensely disappointed that there's no favorites/presets list available via AA. Nor is there even the recent stations list available. So, how in the world do you access the stations you want? The lists that are available seem really truncated and have only strange channels I've never heard of. I was able to use voice commands once but now that isn't working and one of my stations wasn't accessible that way either. So, the whole app seems to be essentially useless to me via the AA interface. Bluetooth streaming still works, but defeats the purpose and of course then there's no access to any of the other aspects of AA.

I too have the pro version from Amazon, which i got for free. In order to get it to work with Android Auto you have to install it using google play as the vendor. Same goes with other apps that you sideload
1. Install Tunein Pro from Amazon Store.
2. Save the apk installer file using es Explorer. hxxp://android.stackexchange.com/questions/75360/is-it-possible-to-backup-apk-from-an-installed-application
3. Uninstall Tunein Pro
4. Reinstall using ADB hxxps://pixplicity.com/setting-install-vendor-debug-app/
I tested it and it works
You can also "unblock" non-play store apps in AA. Open AA on your phone, then go to "information" then tap many times on the upper bar... it will reveal "developer options". Now tap on 3-dot menu and set developer mode. You should see more apps through car headunit.

[App] YouMap Chromecast Receiver for Android

This app turns android device to a Chromecast receiver. As far as I know, this is the only Android Chromecast receiver besides Google's own implementations.
It supports YouTube, Chrome browser tab mirroring, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies, and screen mirroring. Most 3rd party apps using Google Cast SDK should also work. Yes, it works on Amazon FireTV boxes and sticks, and other major brands of Android TV boxes.
This is the trial apk, which has full features, except this current apk will expire on Feb 29, 2016, so hurry up !

Hello huisinro,
App installs OK and looks very pretty.
When I try to cast to it from an Android Phone on the same wifi network it doesn't show up at all, also tried using the Chromecast Setup App from other android phoes too.
EDIT : Tried it on a LG G3 (d855)
Thanks Rob.
Did you try the screen mirroring from the Google chromecast app? It will search for the receivers.
You may need to reboot the router.
Any news on a Amazon App store release? Would love to buy your app but need to buy through Amazon so I can use on my Fire TV and other android devices through their app store.
Still working on a version for Amazon store release, look like it will be next month.
Great, thanks.
Would love support for amlogic devices. If you need a guinea pig im happy to help. Have also bought the paid version hoping support will come one day and help development
I have a Minix X8 and X8H, which are amlogic running Android 4.4, they are working fine. What is your AMLogic device model?
Its a vigica c70t running 4.2.2.
Ok, AMLogic before android 4.4 is notorious in not supporting low level Media Codec API, which is why not working .
I will see if I can use a software decoder.
Can you check if Google chrome browser works on your box?

That'll be what my MX Box needs too, if you recall. Really looking forward to the possibility.
YouTube app works on mine, not sure about in the browser. I'll edit this in a bit after I've checked.
Edit: Tried with https://youtu.be/azV0Y7v6wsg - definitely works in both the YouTube app and in Chrome, but not when attempting to cast it from another device. @huisinro
Apk updated , fixed iOS YouTube crashing issues

Yes. Just the latest Chrome.
Chrome works fine. So does netfix hulu youtube plex
What is the error when you cast YouTube to your box with YouMap? black screen?
I get unable to play video. Please choose anouther. But other apps that cast video i get a black screen with sound. But when i push the back button i get video for a second befor the app closes. Could it be an issue with stagefright on my device. Ive done a bit of research and most of what ive found points to that. I dont know much about it though
Sent from my SM-G900I using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, it's to do with Stagefright low level decoding APIļ¼Œ which AMLogic does not support.
When you use amlogic boxes, does YouTube casting work? What about chrome tab mirroring? What about android screen mirroring?
Thank you for the great app!
I have installed Youmap Chromecast receiver into my Android settop box. where the result is strange. When I enable the Youmap receiver, all of my phone can't find it. After rebooting the router, my Nexus 4 can find the receiver only when the Android settop box connected to router through LAN cable. If the Android settop box is connected to router wirelessly, none of my phone could search it.
In the above successful case, the Nexus 4 can find and cast the screen to the Android settop box (procedure: Setting > Display > Cast screen > Select YouMAP (XXXX)). Although Nexus 4 and my Android settop box support Miracast, I'm pretty sure Nexus 4 is connected to the settop box by chromecast as I didn't enable Wireless Display and the search result clearly stated YouMap. On the other hand, the cast button didn't appear in Youtube app. Moreover, I tried it on my Moto G 2014 and it didn't find the receiver (procedure: Setting > Display > Cast screen).
Device list:
My Android settop box is MiBox 1S with Amlogic 8726-MX running Android 4.4
Nexus 4 running stock Android 4.4
Moto G 2014 running stock Android 5.0
D-link DIR-655 Wireless N router

Fire 10 HD 2017 problem with YouTube TV GPS / location services

I picked up a Fire 10 HD 2017 version, and followed guides here to add Google Play (and other 3 associated APK files), which works great. - I was able to installed several Google apps and other apps from the Google Play store.
However, I have hit a roadblock with YouTube TV (not regular YouTube) - Google's streaming TV service. They have a free trial if anyone wants to test this out, but I get an error screen on launch that says "We can't determine your device's location" - and I can't get it to load. All the settings for Location-Based Services are toggled on (overall and specific to the app, and all apps). I have tried with option for Google Play as a Device Administrator both checked and unchecked. Google Maps detects my location and works fine. I am not running any VPN or similar apps, so this is purely GPS based. Tried to use a fake GPS location app (and allow that in developer settings) but that didn't help.
From what I have read, others have had GPS problems - some sort of conflict between the Amazon GPS and the Google GPS expectations. Something about "AGPS" being limited in some ways on the Fire 10 HD.
Has anyone seen this issue and found a workaround or solution? Could be for a related app maybe. I was also unable to get streams to play in the Chrome browser, which would be a fine workaround, so I need something to work here. One of the main purposes of a tablet for me will be YouTube TV. Thanks - appreciate any help.
I'm having the same issue with the Hulu app and the Maps app that comes with the Fire HD 10. I installed Google Play Store and Google Maps (using the APKs like you). Google Maps didn't work at first, however after DISabling the tablet's location services and trying Google Maps again, I got a prompt for enabling current location for Google to which I clicked on yes. Now Google Maps is working!! Sadly, the generic Maps app and Hulu are still not working. Have you had any more luck?
P.S. after speaking with an Amazon tier 2 support rep, they said they are going to get in touch with a developer and get Hulu working. I'll believe it when I see it!

BT TV App No Longer Working

Hi All,
I first came across Magisk a while ago when my BT TV app would not work because my phone, (HTC One M8 running LineageOS 15.0 / Android 8.0), was rooted. I used the "hide" option back then and the BT app then worked OK.
I don't use the BT app much on my phone, but it has had several updates I think? It is now on version 3.1.1, and when I try to play a video on it it says "We can't play titles on this device because of security issues. (GS013). According to BT's website, GS013 means: "Jail-broken, rooted, and devices using developer versions of operating systems aren't supported by the BT TV App"
BT TV is still ticked in Magisk, though I did try several combinations of untick / reboot / tick / reboots etc to no avail. I also tried installing an APK for an old version of the BT TV app that used to work and using Magisk to hide root from that but that also failed to play video.
Has anyone had any success in getting the current BT TV app to work on a rooted device or can offer any suggestions please?
TIA
Paul
Have you tried the hide magisk manager option from settings? This is the one that repackages the manager app as well in the event that the BT app was detecting and failing root checks.
Just to confirm, that as of the end of October 2018 I have got as far as logging into the BT TV app and My BT app on my rooted Lenovo Tab 4 as follows:
In the app properties for both apps (BT TV and My BT) I cleared the cache and storage before uninstalling and rebooting.
In Magisk I used the option to Hide Magisk Manager from settings.
I then downloaded both apps and installed but did not open.
In Magisk, I selected both apps in Magisk Hide before rebooting.
Both apps then opened and let me log on.
Now working on getting playback working on BT TV app...

I realise this is an old thread but I wondered if you ever got BT TV working? I'm stuck with error code GS016 when I attempt to watch anything.
