Do wipe cache and dalvik cache then check it.
do factory reset from recovery if that doesn't work .
if you are running CWM then check which system is currently running and try to change the active system to system1 or system 2 and try the samd above I mentioned.

I left my streak powered on over night and when i got up this morning the battery was @ 69%. So i started checking e-mail, facebook, twitter, ect. Put the tablet down to get ready for my day, and about 30min later picked up the tablet and it would not power up....anyone has any ideas. I plug it unto the wall charged no light indicator come on or anything
Open the sd/sim card slot and to the left of the sd there is a tiny pin hole get a needle and press it. Its a force off. Maybe something locked up. I left mine on allcday tje other day and got home it was dead and would not turn on until it had about 3% charge. Hopefully the force reset works for ya.

You may want back-up some personal data and do a factor reset on data (not data and internal storage).
Mine never freeze up after I did that.
Thanks for all the info. I plugged up the dell removed the SD card and held down the the reset button....everything back up and running

Is anyone having a continuing problem after a factory reset? I am awaiting delivery of my S7, and I would like to know if I should just go ahead and do a factory reset after opening, or maybe wait for the issue to occur and do some troubleshooting to help figure out the fault...

I didnt have a problem I would just wait if something arise's then I would do some investigating.

Mine did that but all I had to do is leave it charging for a few mins and if you use another adapter I was using the one from my mytouch4g it will not charge right and will not start up when battery is dead. next time just let it charge or do not let it go dead.

Don't do it until you hit a problem.
My 10 day old DS7 just froze within hours of being in my kids hands. Found this thread. Thanks for the help. Peace
So now I have 3 DS7 WiFi in my circle.
One has Froyo 2.2.2 no problems.
The other two are running 3.2 and have repeatedly frozen. And continue to freeze requiring pin hole reset, despite having been factory reset.
Is this an issue with 3.2? Is it going to get worse?
Thanks for your input
Peace

Define "some water". Did it get splashed, if so on the front or the back? Was it dunked? How long until you fished it out and started drying it?
No matter what you should open the back, remove the sd card, SIM card and battery...take a hair drying on low to all of it for awhile, maybe store the whole lot in a bag of rice overnight.
it wasn't so much water :-/ ... i did all that i could ... but nothing change :-/
From what you are describing the only way the water could be responsible, as far as I know, would be if it damaged the internal SD card or its connectors.
Can you get into Recovery or Download mode?
i can get into download mode, but not into recovery :-/ ... it also freezes if i want to boot into recovery ... is there any chance to get into recovery ?!

I would give it a day or so to dry...then if you are still having this problem use ODIN to flash EZBase and see if that solves your problem. Then flash the ROM of your choice.
Plenty of good tutorials about how to do that. look at www.androidsoul.com for EZBase guides.
"just some water" is still pretty vague, as it was asked; a splash? Dunked? Define "some water" specificaly please
And, for the record, if an electronic device gets "watered", this is the way to go:
-Take it out of the water as fast as possible
-Remove the battery (and the cards, like SD, Sim, etc.)
-remove excess water with a towel
-dunk the thing in a bag/bowl full of rice so that it is fully covered
-Let it rest for 24 to 48 hours

What this man said.
Also, if it is still getting into download, but not recognized in ODIN....try placing the phone in Download, connecting to your PC, then rebooting. I remember back in the 2.1 days I had to do that to get it to appear in ODIN a couple times.
If not, the water may in fact have damaged the USB connector. Are you getting any acknowledgement on behalf of your system that the device is connected? Right click My Computer > Properties > Device Manager and see if it is recognizing any sort of Samsung device.
I thought the Galaxy's had holograms pop up on the back of the phone if it was water damaged?

Don't think so, atleast I haven't noticed anything.
I'm a firefighter and have lost count of how many times my SGS has got wet, I even managed to submerge it when we had major flooding at the end of last year.
Every time just make sure I dry it out completely (can sometimes take 12-24 hours) and it works fine.
If your cell as water inside again,
Have a trick for you for the next time...
I will say it for the next time.. Now its maybe too late...
Don't start your phone before this trick.. You may prodice a shortcut or something else domage.
So,
Accessories:
- bowl
- rice
- your phone... Any device.. Any fw and any OS ;-)
Procedure:
-- Take your rice and put a pretty good quantity into your bowl..
-- pick up your phone and remove battery sd card etc..
-- put all the pieces of your phone in the bowl of rice
-- make sure it is covered and set the table.
-- wait 3-4days.. And enjoy..
Have nice day :-D

my phone hasnt been charging the right way the last couple of days now i have changed ROM to see if that would help and it didnt i did a factory reset inside the rom itself and now the phone wont boot itll show the note 3 screen with the padlock but after that it just stays black and i can get into download mode but since my phone wont charge right my computer cant really see my phone so i need to figure out how to get my phone back on.
notes:
phone will charge right if the phone is completely turned off
i did clear the cache and dalvik before completely reset didnt help
installed SS 3.72 and then boot into recovery and thats when my phone wouldnt turn back on
Your charging port is faulty...
Either there is something stuck in it, solder joints are cracked or the flex cable has come loose.

Had that happen on s4. Just like graydiggy said, the port is screwed. Go on eBay and buy the part with tools and change it. Takes about 30 min. It's not too difficult to do.

Hi,
I dropped my S1 in water(s*** happpens) and now its stucked in a bootloop.
It just bootes the samsung logo then it reboots.
(And I havent put it in rice ....) But i opened it up and there was no sign of waterdamage.
Its rooted with and cynongen is installed.
I cant get into native recovery mod but i can get to download mod for 2 sec then it reboots again.
I tried to connect it to windows but windows wont show it....
Then i tried to enter download while connected to windows and it showed the phone for to sec but then it reboots again.
i have looke up all diffrent kind of guids but they all require recovery mod...
I have a 4gb sd card lying around , to format it and flash somthin from there thats the thing i havent tried....
thats it if you need more informations tell me ...
Probably the hardware got damaged. I don't have any idea on how to fix.
Remove the battery and leave it several days on dry, warm place, then try again.

like i said if the hardware would be damaged it woudnt turn on....
You think the internal storage is damaged ? what ware the signs for that...
I would remove the battery and give it a week of time, it can not do any harm and could just help. If there is a drop of water on wrong place it could totally screw the device now. Unpatience is wrong fellow now. Aftet some drying time, it might work normal again.

Hi all i've been looking for a way to fix my S4 Active i537, the phone keeps resetting. I will power it on and it will get as far at the AT&T screen before resetting and starting the process all over again and will do it repeatedly. My phone is not unlocked nor i have never tried to do it, i understand that a factory reset might fix my problem however i have not backed up my phone and would hate to lose my photos, music, and messages. I am able to enter the odin and recovery modes and i have tried to clear the caches to no avail. Also when i try to select reboot in the recovery menu i just get an error screen and after a few seconds the phone shuts off. Is there a way i can backup or at least retrieve my photos from odin or the recovery menu perhaps using adb? Would flashing my device to a different firmware solve this? Would it delete all my data?
Thanks in advance
Also i have an AT&T s4 active unlocked running on tmobile, if that helps any
Just some more info, before this started happening i went on a kayaking trip, the phone was in a bucket which had a little water in it but the phone was locked up ( rubber over charging port and batter cover on securely) when i got home i found there was some humidity on the front and back cameras which i then used a blow dryer to dry it out. The phone would restart, turn back on, and boot up at first but then it got worse and now will not go past the at&t screen
You originally posted this in the International S4 forum. You want to ask this in the S4 Active forums at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-active
The mods will move this to the correct location.
When i did a factory reset using the cwm it didn't delete any photos videos music or any files of any kind .. it just unistalled all apps and cleared their data . As far i know the only thing that got me out the bootloop was the factory reset ... on the other hand factory reseting using the stock recovery deleted everything in my internal storage ..
Hope it helps
