Hi
My Sony Xperia Z has had an issue with its screen for a long while now, purchased it about a year ago.
From time to time the screen will not respond to any touch anymore. Power- and Volumebuttons still work.
When it happens i can lockscreen it and it works again,
but sometimes i need to push the power button multiple times til the lockscreen reacts to touch again.
Also sometimes while typing the screen will recognize wrong letters and
those i intended to type become untypable and it will always take the one next to it.
The phone has no water damage, hasnt been dropped etc, im taking very good care of it.
I use a leatherflipcase for it, but the issue occured with or without cover.
Been reading through the internet for a long while now and havnt found any spot on issue as this yet.
I hope someone in this forum might be able to help me.
Thanks in advance!

Then you should try to flash other ROMs
If you don't want custom ROM like CM or PA
Try stock based ROMs

Actually i dont have any knowledge of the whole flashing and whatsoever ^^
Is there some risk to it? Like the phone becoming broken or something?

Well as everyone see in any ROM thread. The dev saying DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!
but it's not a big deal for me
If you do what the introductions saying. You you won't get problems
But if something go wrong so you will get bootloop and can be fixed by flashing stock FTF file and you will loose your data sure so backup first
And DO NOT and I mean DO NOT FLASH ANY ANY ANY OTHER DEVICE'S ROM OR KERNEL!!!!!!! you if you do that so you will loose you device FOREVER!! then it's should do to trash

That sounds quite chinese to me, and im absolutely not fluent at chinese haha
I was hoping there might be a fix or option to help this without having to go so deep into it?
Personally wouldnt wanna risk much, as the phone itself is fine just that it has this issue sometimes =/
Are there other perks that might make flashing more attractive?

Your problem is not exist here I think so the only thing you should try is flashing ROMS it's may not help and if not helped that means you have a hardware or screen issue and need to send it to repair

Would love to know how many people have bricked their notes. Is it just an odd few or are there 100s.Has anyone had repairs ,unbricked or replaced by their carrier?
I too would like to know this.
Ok
Soft brick? I am sure there are tons, me included, a proper brick brick after which you use the phone for a coaster, don't think so many, though I have one of those too (shattered display).
Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought it was nearly impossible to brick an Android phone? When I was learning to flash and so on with my SGS, I certainly bollocked it up a lot of times (ah... misadventures with using incorrect files...). I have always been able one way or another been able to get back in and mend the damage.
With the Note, Download mode is hardwired in so I thought it would be difficult indeed to properly brick it. That said, I haven't done much with the SGN yet since it's my daily device and I leave it alone. (@torqu3e, I don't think shattered screens count towards the typical definition of 'bricked' do they? I thought it was a software f-up )
When someone says brick, I think of a phone that just won't turn on and is completely useless...but in many people's cases recently, the partition tables have been messed up and the phone is as good as useless. It no longer holds its function as an Android device. So yes, add me to the list of "bricked" Notes out there.
I got a hard brick! :-( It's in the shop..

I was talking more about bricking from flashing that dodgy ics ROM.Anyone unbricked or had it fixed under warranty.
Add me to the list. I bricked when I flashed a kernel that messed up the partition tables. Its at the service now.
one more to the list
i need to sent mine to the US
I faced a soft brick when i was flashing ics betas (mobile to pc screen) but fixed it by flashing stock rom then flashed back ics!

In ODIN while trying to flash CF-Root ICS progress bar froze on Factoryfs flash and after 30 minutes I unplugged it. Phone at this point wont restart turn on or anything. Didn't respond to JIG to go into download mode so I took it to a service center in Southern California. They tried fixing it with JTAG and it didn't respond. It is Kernel related. I got some sort of good news today from the service center that they may have found a solution and are receiving a new tool to do the trick. I am crossing my fingers and waiting for the next phone call from them that if they could get my phone up and running again!!

Thats good news just hope they dont read this thread.Lets see if you get charged or they fix for free under warranty.
Since flashing 4.2.2 I have had a strange issue when starting up. It is not a problem as such, more annonying (but for all I know a sign of a problem). When starting, just before the Sony logo appears, something has started flashing on the screen - I saw it once or twice and so tried to see what it was.
It appears to be an image of the screen as it was just before I turned the phone off (I can see the clock with the time)! It happens everytime, anyone have an idea what the hell is happening?
I couldnt think of what to search for to see if anyone has this problem, but I had a look around and didn't find anything.

I did a full wipe with sus to install it in the first place, and then also a reset after. I wanted to avoid wiping again if I could, but I will give it a go and see.
Seems like a strange problem though, I have never heard of anything like it and can't imagine why it would happen.
That is an issue seen with many users..it doesn't cause any problems whatsoever..I'd advice u to download the ftf from another source and flash it if u wanna get rid of it or if u could live with it then hopefully there will be an update coming soon to fix the lags that many ppl are experiencing..u could flash that fw instead..cheers.
Hit thanks if I helped u.Sent from my Killer Xperia Z(C6602) using xda premium.
I have exactly the same issue. Repaired twice with SUS and twice with PCC, also did hard reset. Issue remains. But don't think it will do any harm.

It is still there for me as well. It seemed to go but is back again - I was wondering if you have rooted as maybe that is what causes it? If not then I have no idea.

Doesn’t appear to be a problem, but not knowing what causes it means if it does do something either now or in the future we wouldn't know why or how to fix it. Or it could be absolutely nothing, and never be a problem - I tend to be a bit cautious with things like this
I get it too but just put it down to being relatively new FW, so hopefully such issues should be addressed in future updates.
I didn't see this glitch,i am on the Spanish firmware.
It seems some firmwares has different bugs.

I was in settings/storage, and tapped on apps. The phone lagged then opened the apps section. I tapped the back button and then the phone shut off and restarted. I am rooted, twrp recovery, but using the stock rom.
Has anyone else experienced this at all? Wondering if it is a widespread thing, or not.

Cool story bro
I've been getting way too many random reboots. Something as simple as turning off wifi or turning it back on will cause it. I'm not sure why it does it and I'm fully stock, unrooted. I've seen suggestions about clearing the cache and I've done that, but the problem continues. I'd say it does it on average once every couple of days.
Now that's a cool story, bro.

I've thought about wiping and starting over, but I'd rather find out that it's a known issue with a fix before I go through all of that work. It's not like I've been flashing ROMS and messing around with the radios or anything like that.

Hello,
I wanted to know if you guys are facing the following problems with your sparkle V or android one devices too?
1) The Wifi is stuck on turning on randomly & is fixed only by a restart of the phone. Is this a problem with my handset or android if you guys face the problem too?
2) (Specifically for sparkle V users) on the camera part there is dust accumulating & to be specific before you say that I can remove the back cover & clean it, the dust is inside which can only be cleaned by opening up the phone fully. Should I get a replacement through the service centre?
Please help as I'm worried that my money doesn't go to waste.
Thanks
Running any custom rom? That might be the problem. I'm currently on stock 5.1(rooted and unlocked bootloader) but I'm not facing the wifi problem and neither is dust accumulating in my camera. It might be a problem with your set, so get it checked at the service center.

I submitted my phone today to the service centre & I was blown away. It just took 2 minutes waiting time (i expected around 30 mins) & the technician was very cordial. Although for the dust problem he said that it might be coming from the earphone jack & is a "common problem". He'll clean it for the dust problem & install the software again to fix the wifi problem "LOL". I'll get my phone by tomorrow (another unexpected thing).
Still I gave the phone & hope the problem is gone.

Go back to stock to stock kitkat and then reflash again, if the problem still persists you may have received a faulty piece. Also try out as many custom roms and see whether they have same issue and making sure its not a hardware problem.

Ok so I got my phone & I'm really impressed by Karbonn's service till now, last time my experience with micromax was average as I had to wait for 30-45 mins. just to ask how much would the screen replacement cost.
He cleaned up the dust & flashed kitkat. Till now everything's working fine. Should I upgrade to lollipop as previously when I had WiFi problems I was running the stock lollipop downloaded from the forums.

I think you can download officially on Saturdays from "System updates" . Also, what is the problem with your screen? And yes, lollipop is a little better than the kitkat. Also you can try CM 12.1 as its the best ROM and stable also.

Thank you man for your help
So i rooted my new nexus 6 and installed chroma rom. every thing was fine till i noticed a small part of the screen flicker. it was like a black line coming and going as soon as i took it off charging it was fine. this was after i installed the rom there was nothing like this on the stock one. also when i open the camera app i can hear a small click/ crackle sound. this happened in the stock rom too but with the snapchat app. its irritating and i cant find a fix anywhere. and lastly whats with the network issue? it suddenly comes and goes. i checked it and it showe 0dbm and 99 asu?is this common? tried to find a fix but all i got was lots of unanswered threads. as being a student who need to use this phone for a long time can anyone tell me if all this is fixable ? or do i need to get a replacement as im still in my 30 day return period. thanks in advance and sorry if all this issues are already in a post and have fixes just post me the link as i could find it
