Tried the Unofficial SlimKat, Mokee and Paranoid and every single one constantly loses connection to data and reception drops out, then comes back, few minutes sometimes more if I'm lucky then it all drops out.
Mokee didn't do it much but the Rom itself I wasn't a fan of so I won't go back to it. SlimKat and Paranoid though? I ended up having to download a tom tom like GPS app because good luck having data whenever I need it.
Anyone got a fix?

I'm not sure if this is the same as the well known "Nexus One 3G problem". I'm running CyanogenMod 6. I have been having occasional trouble on my home carrier (WIND Mobile Canada) where every once in a while, even though the 3G or H icon appears, I can't access anything and when I try the ping test under Testing/Phone information it fails.
The only way I'm able to get the Internet back is to disable mobile data (via widget) and re-enable. Then it lasts again for a while.
I'm currently on vacation in the US and using a T-Mobile SIM. It seems this problem is even worse on their network. Sometimes I only get maybe 2-5 minutes of a 3G connection before it freezes out like this. I've been leaving it on EDGE just to keep it stable, but this is obviously not an ideal solution.
About two weeks ago I started trying nightly builds of CM6 as I was interested in the FM Radio, and I have noticed this issue much more since then. It might be related, but it could also be a coincidence, and I don't want to start messing around with multiple ROM flashes while on vacation if that's not the problem in the first place. Any ideas on what to do?
Thanks
Charles
its a bug with 2.2.1,my nexus does this too. it will get stuck with the data up arrow lit up when the data stops working, turning data off and back on fixes it. there is even a post in the google bug tracker about it. I know for sure it happens in both FRG83 and FRF91,but I'm not sure exactly when it started. 2.1 roms for the N1 don't do it,and my g1 doesnt on 1.0-2.1,but on froyo roms it does exactly the same thing as the nexus.
I hope someone (google or a dev) can fix this, because its really annoying. my g1 is back to donut because its faster, and I'm considering going back to a 2.1 rom on the N1. I've confirmed the issue on ChromaticDream (g1),CM Nightlies (I've tried 198,200,201,202,203,220),CM6.0.0,Enomther's TheOfficialNexus (10/11/10),and a few others.
I thought I was the only one who noticed this bug. Does it occur in the stock (non-rooted) versions of 2.2.1 as well?
Just an update, although I do periodically experience this on my home provider (WIND Mobile Canada), it turns out that T-Mobile is having 3G issues in Portland this exact week and everyone's experiencing it. So the fact that 3G is nearly unusable on my trip is TMo's fault and not Android's.
UPDATE: I downgraded my radio to the official froyo radio (4.0-something lol) and my timeout problems are no more so far....
I have the same problem but with since I'm using nightlies 215 the problem is gone (i'm using 508 radio)
but lately I'm using nightlies 221 and 223 and the problem is back
I settled on 204 for vacation because I didn't want to fiddle with the ROM 10 hours away from my desktop comp! Now that I'm home, keep this thread updated with which builds seem to have a stable 3G connection.
I just flashed 225 with 512 radio and I can say this build is stable, no more intermittent connection lost. 225 nightlies is fast as well
Good to know. I'm on the 5.08 radio; is there a significant difference with 5.12?
Hi all,
Since about 1 year i'm a happy owner of the Galaxy Note. As the stock rom was quite crappy (eating battery like crazy) I decided to swap it with a CM10.0 flavor (Cookies & Cream).
Well, installing the ROM went fine and the phone worked great, except one thing.
Since the beginning that i'm using custom roms on this phone, i'm randomly having issues with the telephone or 3G signal. As I thought, maybe the ROM is full of bugs, I wiped the phone and installed the official CM10.0 ROM. Unfortunately that solved not my problem. Since a couple weeks ago i updated to CM10.1, and still having this issue.
However, some issues where solved since the last upgrade:
- First ROM (CM10 flavor, Cookies & Cream): randomly dropping the signal, and asking for a SIM pin. Sometimes even a restart was needed
- Second ROM (Official CM10): same as above, but less issues with the SIM, mostly signal related
- Third ROM (Official CM10.1: SIM issue gone, however the phone is sill loosing the data signal + sometimes even the telephone signal (restart needed).
When I loose my signal, something it's just the data connection (3G/H). The strange thing is that most of the time that this happens the data connection or telephone signal restores when I enable/open the screen by using the side/home button. Well, that's very strange as I have no power saving apps or something like that running.
But unfortunately this is not always the solutions. Usually 1x per 2 days I have to reboot the phone in order to bring the signal for telephone + data back alive.
SIM has already been replaced, with no luck. I did install this ROM on another phone (from a friend) as well - which had in the beginning the same issues, however things seems to be become stable (haven't heard him anymore)
I already tried different modems on my phone (XXLSA / XXLSX, currently using XXLSO), but none of them solved this loosing data/telephone signal.
It starts to drive me crazy, as I use this phone for my work too.... being unreachable is quite annoying
Anyone an idea what goes wrong here, or how I can find out why this phone is going nuts?
Nobody that could explain why my phone is having this behavior?

As the title says, my tilapia's mobile data (3G/HSPA) connection occasionally stops transferring data while in the middle of a large download, whether it's a simple file downloaded from a browser, a Play Store application or a YouTube video. Turning airplane mode on and off always fixes it. (Clarification: the signal doesn't drop, just the data. The signal indicator stays blue for a while after the connection drops, then turns gray.)
It doesn't happen on all ROMs. It happens on Purity 5.5.0, AOSP 4.3 (tested with Androguide.fr's ROM), CyanogenMod's August 7th nightly, IceColdJelly (July 23rd), RootBox (August 5th, unofficial build) and others I'm forgetting, but Paranoid Android is immune (3.67 and 68 tested). I haven't updated my radio or bootloader to the 4.3 ones.
I haven't tried using alternative kernels yet, so it might be that. (Edit: it's probably not the kernel, just flashed M-kernel mr1 and the problem is still there.) In the mean time, if someone has any ideas about what's going on...

Well i know its a PIA but if i were you i would try going back to stock and see if you still experience the same issues! It could be ROM based issue your seeing on certain roms. Also one kernel that works PERFECTLY wont always work for another person with the same device. Also have a look at what radio is in use for your device. I own the WiFi version. But just like your smartphones id assume the tilapia has a radio/modem that gets flashed during ROM installs.
First thing is see if STOCK does it. IF it does id assume a failing 3G radio in your unit sadly!
Anyone have any ideas on this? I'm S-OFF and am all up to date (ran the latest RUU). (Was on stock ICS until a week or so ago, when I ran rumrunner).
On some roms, I have pretty severe data connection issues. For example, on ViperOne 3.5, 3g/4g drops out a ton, and is very unstable while tethering. I also notice issues when just using data on the phone, without tethering going. I can have full signal, then the data connection will just drop, and sometimes take several tries to reestablish. Sometimes I get a 'failed to establish wireless data connection' notification briefly until it reconnects. Sometimes it will randomly drop to 1X or the signal bars will flash to empty and back again before crapping out. It's very bizarre.
With the stock rom, I don't have it set up to tether, but I did stress test it a bit with Netflix and some data usage and didn't notice any issues. With CM11, I did tether for a while and it seemed rock solid as well. With the GE 4.4 rom, same issue with data dropping. I also did NOT notice this issue at all before unlocking/s-off.
It really seems to be a software issue, but I'm at a loss here. I really have been liking ViperOne aside from this issue, and would love advice on getting my data connection stable.
I have always had these issues too. Very annoying. I don't know if it was good before I s-offed and unlocked because that was the first thing I did when I got the phone. I cant get through a showtime or Netflix TV epside without it disconnecting at least 3 times during the 45 minute show. Matter of fact it even does it on WiFi. I don't tether so never noticed that situation. Every Rom I have used I had this problem. Just a little note I have not tried an ruu yet.

It's making me seriously consider grabbing a Nexus 5 or something (but then I'd miss the IR blaster, which comes in handy at bars, haha). But, I'm really thinking (at least for me) that it's some sort of software issue. Rage One and CM11 both seem rock solid, I flashed to both of those and streamed Netflix over the tether for a good 20+ minutes with no problem. Restore ViperOne and repeat the same thing, and connection drops several times within the first few minutes.
I've never gotten data to work for me consistently on cm10.1 or 10.2, haven't tried 11 yet.
I noticed this on the newest radio.. I switch back to the previous radio and my data drops (specifically while tethered) went down a lot.
I was running CM 10.2 for awhile then switched to an early CM 11 version and had lots of issues (couldn't get GPS lock, data stopped working, in call volume was broken, SODs, MMS issues). I ended up switching to Malladus 1.2 (currently running 1.2.2) and have had hardly any issues. That being said, I'd really like (a piece of that) Kit Kat (bar).
Does anyone have recommended Kit Kat ROMs for the LG G2 (Verizon)? GPS stability, working in call volume, working MMS, and very very few SODs are what I'm shooting for... maybe too tall of a wish list? Would love to stay close to "vanilla Android" / AOSP.
Any suggestions would be great! Also... is there a good place to go for this sort of information? I get lost flipping through the threads of the other ROMs.
i dont think cm is the best rom, even though it is so fast ,simple ,but too few features.

Gr33nD3vil's CM 11 Unofficial mod is the best so far for Verizon.
