AT&T M7 Failled During RUU.exe - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Long story short, I needed to return my m7 back to stock for warranty purposed. I've done this in the past so I know what I am doing. I flashed the RUU (RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_Cingular_US_4.18.502.7_R10_Radio_4T.24.3218.09_10.26.1718.01L_release_356565_signed_2) and my phone got stuck at the last part of the RUU install and now I have a black screen with 4 exclamation points and the HTC logo. the bootloader is locked, as it should be for flashing a RUU. I can see the phone in fastboot mode, but thats about it. EVERY RUU I have tried flashing wont work and they keep throwing errors.
Any suggestions?

Flash the firmware. Zip only?

Are you sure that you have the correct RUU for your firmware version? You said you've tried a few different RUUs. This makes me wonder if you are using the correct RUU for your firmware version. This is key: You must use the correct RUU for your firmware.
If your phone is still bootable, boot it up and go into settings>about>software information and look at the software version number. Your RUU must be made specifically for that version number.
Here's a link to some a collection of RUUs (Cingular/ATT) RUUs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428276
If it's not located there, search around a bit on XDA. It's bound to be here.

I had S-off'd this exact phone before and relocked the bootloader using the RUU that I posted. I believe the issue lays in the update process for the RUU. I am working through a few of these pieces of advice tonight and will report back.

XDA solves my problem, yet again!!!
So what I did was, flash the firmware that clsA instructed me too. That went well and I had a fully loaded bootloader menu. Then I flashed a RUU.zip file which was a JB file and it worked! I can send my device back. You guys seriously are awesome.

[Q] HTC ONE bootloop, no recovery, wrong CID, S-ON

Hi Guys,
1 month ago I chaged my HTC ONE into Google Play Edition. Then Yesterday I wanted to get it to stock sense.
What I did:
*) restore CID to HTC__032 (do not know if it is right CID, network: P4 play for Poland)
*) restore stock via TWRP
*) downgrade bootloader from 1.54 to 1.44
*) locked (reveone)
*) S-On
Now, my phone got always bootoader with a msg: "Security Warrinig"
Canno go to recovery - phone always reboots. System doesn't start.
I'm assuming that to repair my phone the first thing I have to do is S-OFF. I cannot do this via HTCDEV unlock file, every time when i fire "fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin"
file is successfully sent and that's all. "Swipe - unlock" screen doesn't appear. As we know ADB PUSH won't work in fastboot mode.
How I can transfer reveone file into internal storage to get my phone s-Off again and corretley flash a bootloader (1.54)?
Regards.

so let me get this straight:
1- S-On
2- LOCKED
3- No functioning ROM
if yes, you're pretty much stuck
did you get a new unlocktoken from HTCdev or are you using the old one. try registering a new account with HTCdev and get a new unlock file.

yes, I have tried - no success.
At first, the HTC Dev Unlock does NOT give you S-Off. It just unlocks your bootloader. And why did you change your CID if you didnt know if it was the right one? Google will help you to find the right one.
In case this IS the right one, I dont think you need S-Off as you're able to flash a new Recovery without S-Off. Try HTC aio Tool for example or via adb/fastboot flash. If this worked you'll be able to flash a new firmware.
Good Luck

So you were s-off before then back to s-on. Or how you downgraded from 1.54 to 1.44 ? I am confused now

Thank's for all your responses.
So:
@nkk71 - tried with new account - still no success.
@Frask3r - as long as I'm not able to run anything except bootloader: adb commant won't work(no way to perform push), fastboot only works.
@polariscon - I wanted to flash my googles' bootloader with the orginal one from HTC, so I flashed via fastboot.
I can confirm that CID is correct one HTC__032. I do not know if it will help.
You can flash with fastboot commands

oh I just saw you downgraded to 1.44, try an RUU (windows exe) from here: http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/ruu-file-downloads/
which is compatible with your MID & CID (use fastboot getvar all, to determine MID & CID)
Hello.
I need help to fix my htc one.
I did delete everything on my internal sdcard. Cause i want to make it as new to give it to my girlfriend. But when i did that. Its stopped working. I've tried to use all in one kit by squabbi. But it won't work to change boot or anything. Maybe i did smt wrong.
When i turn on my htc one. Its stuck in boot. White screen with htc logo on it. I cant even turn it off again. I have to wait when the battery its empty. And then i can turn it on to fastboot. Before all that. I came into recovery and then its stands no OS on the phone.
But after i yried to fix it by myself then it will not be able to even touch the recovery. I push the screen, but nothing happend. I think i did it worse or smt. Pleas help if somebody can. It would be great.

After reading OP i think you have many things mixed up so plz clarify
What happens when you try to boot into recovery...if its stock recovery it takes some time for red triangle to appear.
Which "swipe-unlock" screen are you talking about in unlocking bootloader.
When using RUU zip try more than once sometimes it takes 2 - 3 tries to work

But you can still boot into hboot so it might not be all lost
When was the last time you able to boot normally (after each steps you mentioned in OP)
I'm Sorry for answering so late. My phone just came back from "local" GSM repair center.
So what they done?
They destroyed my back cover and using JTAG changed cid to: HTC_02_2 and version-main to 1.00.000.00
and they told me that I'm not able to flash my phone with any current ROM version because I have to wait for
the latest one.
I have tried to update my phone with RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_Radio_4A.13.3227.06_10.27.1127.01_release_308001_signed_2_4.exe on my own.
I changed my cid in android-info.txt but after "signatures checking" step i received error msg no 131 (customer id)
Now I'm wondering, if I will procceed with below steps:
*) change cid to: 11111111 (using JTAG)
*) still s-on (i cannot change it - bootloop)
*) bootloader locked
are there any chances to make it works again?
Cheers
Robert
Can you unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery, root, and install a custom rom?
Then S-Off, and move to a HTC__001 based International HTC One RUU file.
What is your hboot version? or fastboot getvar all output?

RUU software can't find my device...help!

Trying to restore my phone which using the RUU toolkit, and it keeps cancleing becaue it can't find my device. I can get to bootloader and TWRP but none of the ROMS are stable enough to stay on. Any ideas?
When I plug my old phone in, it finds the device so I'm sure the right drivers are there...

Wouldn't it make sense to start a thread for a specific problem? It makes it easier when someone with a similar problem searches for it on the forums. That way, later you can refer to this thread when someone runs into the same troubles, instead of linking to a 40 page thread and say "Weed through pages 31-39 for the resolution"

That is dependant on your fastboot output. You need the RUU to match or exceed your main version and have to have the same CID.

There is already good guides for all the issues you encounter, so chances we will refer someone to this thread are slim.
What RUU are you trying to flash, can you post a link? Also an updated ''fastboot getvar all'' of your phone would help.
What OS are you using now? Still on your MAC? If on Windows which version are you using? XP, 7, 8.0, 8.1 ?

I had this exact problem trying to go back from 5.11.401.10. When i extracted the rom.zip, fastboot came back with remote: 02 data length is too large.
I had already unlocked with HTCDev, flashed TWRP and s-off. i just wanted a stock ruu to go back to sense 5.5. In the end, i found TeHashX has created a twrp flash here: Link I flashed that without root, with radio and recovery and I'm back to stock. You'll probably need to be s-off for this but I'm not sure. I kept s-off and the unlocked bootloader.
Ps. You can remove the tampered with a rooted rom in the process.

I have also been unable to use any of the 4.xx RUU... They worked once but none of them work now. Anyway I just wanted to say I also created a Guru Reset for the 5.21.502.2 (AT&T) here >> http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358545274 to go along with the files posted by @TeHashX
The only thing i can think of was the hboot prevents it now but i wasnt going to play with that. I personally went to 4.xx to get away from sense 6
Is there any other maybe older stock ROM i can try ?
I tried 1.29.401.x and that failed too. There was a note with the download saying you need to flash hboot 1.44 which i didn't bother with.

Need some help please

Needing some help if you anyone can help at all. I was trying unroot my Sprint M8. Something went wrong when I flashed stock recover wrong, I don't know what but the issues started after that, and now it keeps booting into bootloder mode and won't go pass that. I have contacted HTC Premium Support to see if they have any advice still waiting to hear back. I have contacted Sprint and they have told me to take into a store to see if it can be repaired. Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to fix this? Or do you know if it can be fixed by Sprint of if that is wasting a trip. Any help would be much appreciated. Don't know if this is the right forum or not. If not I'm sorry. Thanks for anyone in advance who has any advice tips or whatever it may be..
You can fix your issue with a RUU. Hit the second link in my sig and scroll down to the RUU section. Find the RUU that matches your current software/firmware version and follow the instructions in my thread to run the RUU on your device.

Even though I can't boot past the bootloader mode screen?
Download the latest RUU, and make sure that the appropriate drivers are on your computer.
Also, make sure that you lock your bootloader (fastboot oem lock) before running the RUU if you are S-On. If you're S-Off, just run the RUU as is.
If that doesn't work, come back here.
Edit: Magnum responded while I was still typing. Listen to him.
And to respond your question, the RUU is run from the bootloader screen, so you're exactly where you need to be.

Okay my bootloader is locked. The issues started some time between flashing stock recover and relocking the bootloader. It says Tampered Relocked Security Warning if that means anything.
Now I tried fastboot oem rebootRUU and fastboot flash zip firmware.zip when it is flashing the zip in RUU it says
targeted reported max download size
sending zip
OKAY
Writing zip
(bootloader) signature checking
FAILED
Is there anything to be done from here or should I just take it to the carrier store to see if they can fix it or should I just send it in for repiar to HTC?

This one.
Download the RUU that matches the software/firmware version you already have installed. Connect your phone & computer via Fastboot USB mode, then double-click the RUU file to start the install process (if the directions to the RUU differ, use the ones posted for the particular RUU).

Is your phone the HK or non-HK version? Go to the link below and download the RUU again. Follow the directions for the manual update.

Okay I will do. I am going to give it another shot if that doesn't work I guess I will just make a trip to the Sprint store in the morning. If I can't get the RUU to work do you think Sprint will be able to do anything? Or should I just pay the fee and have it repaired by HTC?

Sprint should be able to fix it. Having said that, you don't need to try and run the RUU from a command line. Double-click the RUU file from your desktop to start the installer, then follow the prompts on your computer as they appear.

I have a question im on a stock rooted rom with no system changes except for the boot up sound which i restored. I flashed the stock recovery and then tried to take the OTA but it failed about a quarter of the way through. would my best bet be to just flash the firmware and flash a 4.4.4 stock rom with the eye feature when available or do I just do a RUU? Im just trying to keep phone up to date with stock rom. any suggestions?

Currently there is no stock rooted ROM for 4.4.4. You can update your firmware if you'd like and then wait for someone to publish a stock rooted ROM. Otherwise you can troubleshoot the reason you can't install the OTA and go from there.

Going back to stock Firmware from CM 12

Hi
I have an HTC One M8 on CM 12. I wanted to go back to full stock but I am scared of doing this lol.
I am S-On and have an Unlocked bootloader
So to Flash a RUU I have to Lock it again?
Is that even possible at this point?
Yes re-lock your bootloader and run the RUU.

Hi Sloth and thanks for responding,
I read that the Firmware I flash has to be newer or the same as what the phone is currently running. Is that true?
Also do I have to put the HTC recovery first or does that happen when I flash the firmware?

Yes I have noticed the hboot has to match the hboot for the RUU you are trying to flash for the last few updates.
If you choose the latest Full Firmware (Stagefright patch included) then run the latest RUU you should be golden.
The Full firmware will install stock recovery.

I downloaded the lasted firmware from HTC's website. 4.25.651.18
Is this a full firmware? Or are you talking about something else? Not sure what stagefright is.
I will try the FUU method that I found in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
BTW my hboot is 3.19.0.0000

You probably downloaded the RUU from the HTC site.
The firmware is in the link you posted.
I'm not sure what the latest hboot is lol.
Edit:
My hboot is 3.19 and I'm 1 firmware update behind I doubt the latest changed the hboot.

That is the correct size for the firmware.
The RUU is 1.5GB...you might be ok running the RUU without updating your firmware, give it a shot.

If your hboot was outdated you would most likely need to update the firmware so they matched.
Your hboot is already the latest so you should be good to go with just running the latest RUU.
OK so I'm just going to use the thread to install the Rom. Any tips?
Thanks so far btw

Correct the 1.5GB file you downloaded from the HTC site.
Just make sure you re-lock your bootloader before starting the RUU.

So Relock with this command fastboot oem lock
So do I put the phone into fastboot mode first?
Also this file I downloaded is the actual program huh.
I will have to get adb working again. Time to download the whole Android studio again! UH

Yes boot to bootloader and select fastboot...when you plug in it will say fastbootusb in red.
Open a cmd window and type fastboot devices...if you get your serial number back as a reply you are good to issue the fastboot oem lock command, if you serial # does not show then your drivers are not installed properly.
The file is an exe/executable file right click and run as admin and it will start, read all the warnings and check the boxes and it will do it's thing.
ADB does not work in fastboot mode only recovery or OS.
