[Q] [HELP] USB issue. Software or Hardware problem? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am pretty sure that I bricked my usb port and there is NO way to solve my problem but just to be sure:
Does anyboidy know if I have a software or a Hardware issue??
No computer recognized my phone. Im 100% sure that it is no driver problem, My computer just say: Unknown device. code:43
My phone was unlocked and rooted, so I tried to flash a stock rom with root-access on my HTC. I thought it could solve my USB-problem, but it did not, Unfortunately I lost my root-access and my phone went from S-off to s-on...
Oh yeah and I already tried to clean my usb-port..
Some extra Infos: when I boot in my recovery menu:

**** UNLOCKED *****

Assuming you have tried multiple ports, cables and computers with the same results. You could try an OTG cable, it may fail but if not you could at least move a rom to the phone.
** Put a zip file on USB
** Attach USB to phone reboot to TWRP
** TWRP >> Mount usb-otg >> Install using file from USB
Sorry about S-OFF, it would have made your life easier to remove the tampered & unlocked to return the phone for repair. My guess it is hardware.

Thanks for your reply.
I tried an OTG cable already and it failed Well I could copy a rom on my phone. E.g. using dropbox but without twrp or another recovery its pretty useless ..
thanks anyway

[Q] Stuck in HBOOT loop

Hi,
I know that the boot loop scenario is pretty common, but my problem seems bizarre. I recently installed cyanogenmod successfully but I was unhappy with it so I decided to remove it and install a clean version of Sense 5.5. I obviously screwed up somehow.
The problem is that the phone doesn't want to boot up to the normal home screen. Whenever I power the phone on it automatically boots onto the FASTBOOT screen. From there I get a number of different problems, I shall list which options work and which do not; FASTBOOT works, RECOVERY does not (reboots back to FASTBOOT), FACTORY RESET does not work (reboots back to FASTBOOT), SIM LOCK does not work, IMAGE CRC works, SHOW BARCODE works.
When I use FASTBOOT USB I am unable to see my device on my computer also, so I am unable to look inside my SD card or use abd commands.
Here is what the top of HBOOT reads;

It seems your boot loader has been relocked. It must have been unlocked for you to install cyanogenmod right?
Which method did you use to install a clean version of Sense? I'm not too familiar with running RUUs but if you want the phone to stay rooted then I would flash a new recovery using fastboot.
I'm running into a similar problem, my HTC One is just like yours, my computer doesn't even read it as a media device and says that there's something wrong (duh), tried running up ADB, redownloaded drivers and I still have no luck.

It must have been unlocked. I used ClockworkMod, I deleted the cache and then installed the Sense ROM from my SD card.
I tried to run a RUU but I couldn't because my phone is not being recognized by my computer.
@ hrogers .. Try to load a custom RECOVERY from TWRP and/ or an RUU. executive from HTCguru

You should be able to send commands to the phone using fastboot USB. Have you checked you have the correct drivers installed and correctly set it up? Tried using a different PC maybe?
Also try starting from scratch, deleting all the PC fastboot files and drivers and re-setup.
I've never had any problems with fastboot, it usually never fails.

[Q] Bought a Bricked HTC One without previous history need help!!!

As the topic says, the phone was bought on ebay-Germany and when received, I found out that the phone was tampered with previously. Seller does not respond to my mail or willing to pay back. The phone is only 1month old with receipt.
So, decided to seek help here. I will appreciate any help to get this fone work. This is what I can say about the phone;
- When I press on the power, it boots directly into Team Win Recovery project V2.6.3.3. I tried to reboot it takes me into further steps that finally switch off the phone. All attempts to actually boot the phone yield no result.
- Again in Recovery, I tried to restore backup (if ever the was any) and it show successfully restore. But on reboot it then shows “no OS installed!”
- I tried connecting on my pc and the phone driver installation failed several time on all usb port on my laptop (I have only one pc, with win8 – my laptop). I decided to uninstalled the htc software and driver I used for my HTC 1X, then reinstalled again. Still the phone could not be recognized.
- On pressing power and vol., the following can be seen including IMEI (from show barcode);

you don't need to get the Token ID, your Bootloader says UNLOCKED
You should be able to use ADB commands trough TWRP recovery and you should also be able to mount your sd card via TWRP
Go to this link: http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/stock-rom-downloads/ and watch the video guide.
download your guru reset for your version (3.62.401.1) here: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_3-62-401-1-zip/
connect your phone to pc and boot in twrp recovery
mount your sd card
push the .zip file to your sd card
install the zip and reset your phone like in the video guide
are you using windows 8.1 or 8.0 bcause 8.1 have issue with fastboot drivers. Better to do all of this procedure on a win 8.0 or 7 pc.
Looks to me like no ROM on Phone
Hi and happy new year to you too....
After from what I read here it looks to me like there is no Rom installed on the phone.
The phone seems to be wiped therefore boots into recovery on Power On.
Can you access all features of Team Win recovery?
If yes try this:
You will need an OTG cable and a USB Storage for this!!!
Download a Custom Rom, I recommend SD Eragon v21
Put Rom onto your USB Storage plug USB Storage into OTG Cable and Cable into Phone.
Boot into Team Win Recovery
Select "Wipe"
Select "Format Data" type "yes" to continue
Making sure that we format the Phone properly again.
Go Back to Recovery Menu and select "Mount"
Tick "USB-OTG"
Go Back
Select "Install"
Find "usb-otg" on the list; if you cant see it select (Up a Level)
If you have found usb-otg select it and you will see Eragon21 Rom
Swipe to install and follow the prompts.
Once successfully installed reboot phone and hopefully it should work
Let us know how u r going

Hello there, i have a very similar problem on my side: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2595552
I get to go back to TWRP Recovery who asks me a password everytime. I'm looking forward to get a OTG Cable to try all you told here. But without the password will I be able to do anything?
When TWRP asks you for password try to hit "cancel" and see what happens.
Are you able to get into Recovery once you hit cancel?

Thank you very much for the prompt reply to my post. I will be going out soon to get the OTG cable, then try if it works. Will post the result thereafter.
Meanwhile, I will first try the first solution with Guru Reset. Once again thank you.

i got stuck 2 days ago, i used hansons toolkit in fastboot, and flashed stock recovery, relocked bootloader, and ran the RUU.. all fixed up...
then i unlocked the bootloader.. u might need to go htc dev to get the unlock bootloader
Hi,
I too am having a similar problem but my phone is frozen on the htc logo I can't turn it off i have to wait till it's dead, I can't enter recovery mode plus my laptop won't find the phone when it's connected.
I'm in a rite mess, I just formatted everything before I gave it to my son now I've ruined it for him
Finally, I am happy to announce the result of the solutions provide by Alray and MotoXoom.
First and foremost, my phone has been saved! This is thanks to Alray's Guru reset method proposed in post 2 and MotoXoom for the idea of using a OTG cable mentioned in post 3.
For those who may be facing a similar issue, this is what I did;
The Guru Reset method is very easy if the instruction on the video is follows keenly. Since my pc could not find my phone, I when on to buy an OTG flash drive from Conrad Berlin, also available on ebay.
Initially the flash was not recognised, I then formatted with fat32 and plung-in again to the phone. Voila! it worked. First of all hit on mount and click on usb otg , then click back and hit on install. The rest of the instruction can then be seen on the video on post 2 from Alray.
It is also worth mentioning that at the end of the installation Team win recovery should be reinstall as was deleted be the Guru reset software.
However, I still need further help on how to remove the “ Tampered” on the bootloader screen as well as how to get S-Off. I do not know how to go about this, since I do not have the Token-ID. Is the Token ID not necessary for this? I will appreciate further help. Once again thank you Alray.
N.B.: I still find it difficult to quote a post directly, how is this done?
Since over an hour I am not allow to post anymore and decided to edit the previous message in order to post a message.
I also do not understand this message " To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!"
Worst case scenario: flash a RUU (of course one from the phone's region)
RUU will reinstall the whole phone's original rom but you will lose root (you will reroot it later)

Hi alray, I am using win 8.0.
I'm actually trying to use the solution you provided, but then, I am still face with some difficulties. I can't push the zip file into my phone directly without a OTG cable. Only possible with ADB Sideload, which is taking a little longer (over an hour and still on 35%)? Am I doing something wrong?
Moreover, I will like to know how to get the "Tampered“off the screen and change the “S-ON” to S-Off. But before then, first thing first; that is to boot the phone.
Accept my gratitude for the initial solution u provided. Thank you!

Download the android SDK or "minimal adb and fastboot"
Download TWRP 2.8.5.0, save it in the same folder where you have adb and fastboot
boot your phone in bootloader mode/fastboot usb
open a terminal window from your adb/fastboot folder
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Done
when i enter to bootloader it will see ''fastboot ac'' not ''fastboot usb''

If your phone is booted in bootloader mode and displaying "fastboot AC" instead of "fastboot USB" its simply because its detecting power on pins 1 and 5 but doesn't detect any data connection via pins 2 and 3. It might be because a defective usb port on your computer or on your phone, because of a defective usb cable or because you are simply using a usb power cable instead of a usb data cable. Usb power cable only have 2 contacts for pin 1 and 5 (power+ and power-). Usb data cable also have pin 2 and 3 (Data+ and Data-).
yes i plug the original cable now is iam seeing fastboot usb but i installed also htc sync i see usb not recognised. what will i do?
i'm having a similar problem actually.. for the LIFE of me i can't get fastboot to recognize my device. i have htc sync drivers. have full access to ADB, but for some reason no fastboot. i've tried on windows 8.1, but also recently have been trying on Ubuntu.. so drivers shouldn't be an issue. I'm currently s-on, not rooted, and have no recovery. i flashed an RUU trying to return my phone to stock for sale however the sale fell through now i'm trying to get cm12 back on it. i've been trying to flash the recovery through Hboot.. but from everything i see it seems like you need s-off for that to work. without fastboot i can't achieve s-off although all i really want is root.
ok i understand. but whats meaning ''RUU''
or how can install cyanogenmod12 ?
i need use my phone.

uninstall HTC sync but keep the drivers installed. Also make sure you latest drivers version.
plug your phone to your computer, boot it in bootloader/fastboot usb mode. Go to windows devices manager, take a screenshot of your device manager and post it here.

Please Help? HTC One M7 Soft-Brick

Hey there!
So I'm trying to get a HTC One M7 fixed here, and I have a problem. I was updating to Lollipop (stayed on KitKat for a while) then it froze then it rebooted. It had the new logo in the start screen, but it wouldn't boot to the OS at all. I've tried resetting via recovery, doesn't work. Resetting cache doesn't work. ADB + Fastboot with drivers doesn't work. I've tried so many things, like using a toolkit, using ADB + fastboot, going in bootloader and trying adb, nothing works. I'm stuck here. It's a M7 T-Mo variant. I haven't rooted it and it's on stock recovery and the bootloader information is:

I've tried everything. Please help? I have a new phone already, but I want this to get working so I can at least sell it for some money
i would suggest unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom recovery, like twrp. Then you can restore from a stock backup file (im sure people here have them).
If that doesnt work... well...
Like I said, my PC doesn't recognize my one m7. Even other PCS don't... So I can't unlock the bootloader
go to htc.com/us/support/htc-one-t-mobile/news/
Look carefully at instructions, download file at bottom, run file, follow wizard instructions, should return device to stock.
Will delete data.
I know you said PC doesnt recognize it, but the RUU app should recognise your phone even if the PC doesnt. And if it doesnt, boot into fastboot and try
Hope this helped

Not Connected on pc

Hi guys.
Im caught on a very difficult situation.
My Phone an HTC ONE M7 is stuck in bootloader and has no OS. I have a recovery installed (TWRP 2.6.3.0) and Im able to access it BUT when I mount the sd card my PC is unable to recognize it.
