I've searched but there is hardly any info about this model. I have unlocked the bootloader and wanted to add a custom recovery/firmware, but not sure which (if any) are compatible with XT1050.
at the very least I how there is a generic, stock moto rom that I could use that does not rely on the carrier for updates?
not sure if it helps, but my phone currently has 139.4.6.ghost_row.acg.en.us
and is 4.2.2
well i couldn't find a stock rom for it but i contacted another person who has the same model and he said the cdma based roms he tried worked for it. so i guess thats better than nothing

I have been looking for an answer to this and if it has been answered before, point me to the thread.
I'm using a Telus Milestone here in the US with ATT. I have GOT OR 2.01 loaded on my milestone and it's rooted in everything. Now the next step would be to pick a firmware for 2.2.1. However, There is nothing listed for ATT or US at all for that matter.
Should I use Telus's Firmware? And will it still work with ATT? I want to load some custom roms, but I'm a bit stuck. Thanks for any input.
You should use Telus firmware. Or any firmware you like, but flash Telus baseband on top in order to get it working on AT&T
Check in milestone Android development thread, there are few choices available (roms), pick one. There is still no official Froyo rom for Milestone though. Most of the custom roms available are nearly fully functional.

Thank you very much. I wanted to try it, but I didn't want to guess, be wrong, and be screwed. Thats all I needed!
Hello!! I am just trying to find out how we can unlock the phones that we bought from different carrier providers and how to upgrade them manually...
Since, I don't have a carrier based phone, I'm short of ideas on this topic. So, is there anyone who has upgraded to gingerbread in a carrier based rom, please make sure you reply with all the details.
Also, I especially want to know about upgrading in a Vodafone - Italy galaxy mini phone. If anyone had tried it please share it here.
Thanks!!!
Hey
I have a carrier based phone (Comcel in Colombia) and I upgraded to GB without any problems (I used ODIN to flash GB).
SIM gets unlocked due to the fact that the whole filesystem gets rewritten, so I'd say that there's no problem in flashing different version of the OS on carrier based devices.
The only way that would be a problem is if the carrier has custom apps that report back (kinda like Verizon does in the US with some HTC devices).
For the Italian Vodafone, sorry I can't help you with that

Okk so you mean you can now use sim card from any provider after you flashed gb.... Also, will it have any effects on the performance of phone and what will happen if teh carrier gets to know about it???

Yeah, phone's now SIM unlocked, regarding perfomance (besides the obvious Froyo to GB performanc boost) there's no discernable change, there shouldn't be any change unless you're flashing a non-compatible ROM (EU rom on a 5570L or viceversa).
I'm not a lawyer but from what I've heard the only way a carrier can find out that you have a custom ROM is if you take your phone for repairs and all they can do is void your warranty, nothing more, althought I'd check the service contract in case there's something hidden in there.
Having bought a Moto X off eBay that's preloaded with an American Movil build, I'd like to upgrade that to something more current. Assuming I can figure out how to flash it in the first place - haven't had any luck getting a reply to this proposed flashing process yet - what build should I apply given that it's an XT1058 device intended to be used on AT&T's network. I can apply the AT&T ROM, of course, but that reportedly comes with bloatware.
And in an ideal world, I'd get my OTAs from someone other than the carrier; currently America Movil, maybe AT&T in future. Is it possible, for example, to apply the Developer's Edition ROM to an XT1058 device, and if so, would I be likely to be upgraded more quickly? If not, does anyone have any recommended builds that are compatible with AT&T's network that are better than the AT&T ROM?

I would suggest unlocking the boot loader, flashing either cwm or twrp recovery and finally flashing superuser. Keep in mind that unlocking the bootlaoder will void your warranty.
The benefit to this route is you will maintain root access, also you can easily flash Roms without the problems that cone along with pwnymymoto and safestrap.
Cm10.2 is around the corner and there's already a T-Mobile ROM that has the camera update included

I would like an answer to this, if anyone knows.
I want to get a colored one through at&t, but I want the developer's edition rom with their OTAs. Kind of like how people are making their carrier HTC One's into google play editions.

don't think there is a dev edition rom to my knowledge. I haven't really read much about people saying the dev editions had anything different besides and unlockable bootloader which you don't have so you will only be able to flash roms through Safestrap if you haven't taken any OTA's yet.
While it should have been obvious, it's worth letting people know that the AT&T ROMs disable tethering. Again, most people probably know this, but coming from Nexus devices it hadn't even occurred to me. So if there is a dev edition ROM floating around out there where this isn't disabled by default, I'd love to see it.

There is a Dev Edition ROM and it is the exact same ROM as the T-Mobile ROM which is the only Retail ROM.
I just bought a Moto X DE from Swappa to use on my T-Mobile and I have a couple of questions.
I'll be reading the forums so I'm sure I'll find many answers, but I know for some reason I'll just have a hard time finding some even if they are right in my face.
1) Is the 4.4.4 update out for it yet or so I need to unlock/recovery before I can get 4.4.4 I am only interested in AOSP/Google ROM's not CM, PA, or any of the others.
2) How, if at all is the DE ROM different? Or is it just the Bootloader being unlockable the only difference?
3) I am thinking of changing the White back out with a black one. I have seen the guide but my only worry is that the back may not be as tight after I do it due to having to release some of the glue. Will the back still be tight?
4) Anything else I may find interesting? Any Must know tips/tricks.

I have the DE on VZW
1) i'm not sure, but I beleive its out for Tmobile. You should not need to unlock or do anythign else as long as the device has stock OS and boot-loader
2) the roms are not different other than being designed for slightly different devices, even the Verizon Droid lines share a very similar rom with the X. That being said, do not flash any rom that is not designed for your specific build (xt1058, My DE is xt1060) Also, once you take an OTA, this device does not like to be downgraded, even tho its a DE, its not a nexus that you can just flash any OS version to.
3) I have not replaced a back yet, i cant answer this, but i would be interested in your findings, as i may replace my back some day.
4) Moto did a great job with the software on this device, The stock rom is great. Xposed is all that is needed to bring the look and feel of a custom rom.
Thanks, the only changes I plan to make is Root + maybe flash a kernel and OC the CPU to 1.9/2GHz and play with the DPI settings.
One thing, yes you do have to unlock the bootloader on the moto site. ?
I dont think 4.4.4 is out for tmobile yet. I have the gsm dev edition, haven't gotten it yet nor have i heard/seen anything about it. But it will come soon I hope!
As far as i know the only difference is the unlockable bootloader, ROM is the same otherwise.
If you're planning to root, check out xposed and gravity box.. that combo makes this phone super customizable and you don't need any custom roms ever!

Just got the device, it has 4.4.3. So it looks like I'll root before I get any farther.
Hi just wandering is there any stock based rom for the sprint moto x? Like T-mobile rom or at&t rom?

if google have answers I would not ask here.
And please don't show me the stock sprint rom. I already know it and that is not what I am looking for.
I am looking for T-mobile or att base rom for sprint
Kinda Rude you are but ill answer the question for you.
Sprint Moto x does not have a lot of support here. when it comes to stock roms for sprint they are Just stock with minor tweaks like debloated and maybe a few small mods also.
I would look for a ASOP or CM or any of the custom roms because they are all built for all the different versions of the moto x and they wont have the carrier bloat ware and much more settings to work with when setting up a unlocked device on a different carrier.
so if that was not the answer you wanted to here but trust me i would know i own a Sprint X myself. and we are much better off now then we was at the start.
now the ASOP and CM Roms we dont get FC and we get good signal as to when they first started coming out sprint X was having major issues with the Roms and there Kernels.
so like i said if your looking for a multi carrier rom for the Sprint X you have to use either a ASOP CM or custom rom that is made for all devices.
hopefully i did not confuse you lol Good luck
