Did anyone ever figure out how to get WiFi calling on the X? Sort of dampers the new X given tmobiles announcement today
Unfortunately, Moto X is not on the list of supported devices that are receiving wifi calling from Tmobile

I know that, I'm asking if it was ever ported or anything.

So does this thing have wifi calling? My guess would be a no.

No one actually has a TMO Moto X yet, I'd guess no to your question though.
T-Mobile said no WiFi calling with motoX as not a true carrier phone
Hey guys! After doing a little research, I bought Verizon Moto X to use because I read that it's unlocked. I got it new from craigslist for a decent deal. I'm coming from a nexus 5.. I liked it but the feel of the moto x is just amazing. Plus I was always jealous of the active display and always on features.
Anyway, here's the issue.. The phone works brilliantly until 4G comes on. When that happens, data works great, and is blazing fast as usual, but I cannot make calls or send texts. I can receive calls and texts just fine, just can't make them. On everything below 4G there are no issues.
Apparently, since 4.4, you can no longer make new APNs. You can try, but it won't actually save them. For now, I am using an app that accesses the hidden menu to limit the phone to HSPA.
Is there anything I can do or am I better off selling it? Verizon are such ****s.. I don't think I will ever again touch their devices or services again.
Why would u buy Verizon moto for T-Mobile?
T-Mobile moto is unlocked and it supports LTE

It's supposed to be unlocked, it was in the colors that I wanted and it was a great deal. There were T-Mobile ones for sale, but quite a bit more expensive.
I'm pretty sure there was a Verizon Unlocked Moto X and a general unlocked Moto X because Verizon uses different antennas then companies like T-Mobile. Therefore using an unlocked Verizon Moto X WON'T work on T-Mobile or other carriers like Sprint

But it does work.. it just seems like it has problems changing networks when I call.. Like I said, when i disable LTE, everything works perfectly

When you say 4G do you mean LTE or HSPA+?. The Verizon model does not support T-Mobile LTE. HSPA+ should work
The Verizon model doesn't support UMTS/WCDMA on the main band Tmobile uses which is 1700 Mhz/AWS. So it is likely getting confused when trying to switch between bands to make calls.
At the end of the day it was the wrong phone to buy for your needs.

They said the nexus 6 is going yo get WiFi calling in early 2015. Will the moto x get it ? I mean you its running the same 5.0 its only makes sense that it would.
I think that not only will you need 5.0, T-Mobile will need to send out an update. From what I read, T-Mobile will be sending an update out in 2015 for the N6. My guess is Google actually will, but with T-Mobile's Wi-Fi calling framework inside. So, that would lead me to believe that T-Mobile will have to want it added to the moto X in order for it to work.
So most likely it won't happen ...

Idk how T-Mobile is going to do so, when there is only one SKU for the American n6. Also, Google doesn't want tainted software so I don't think carriers are allowed to mess with the system files Google provides. If T-Mobile can, then that means carriers are in control of ota updates then?
I'm thinking if it does come to the n6, I'm sure we can hack that and make it work on the Moto X since both are very similar in software

I sure hope you're right. I was only relaying what T-Mobile said, by pushing out an update. I'd hate for the N6 or our phone turn into the Verizon galaxy nexus.
Any updates on this? Are people with the 2014 Moto X able to use T-Mobile's wifi calling?

Huh, even with Lollipop? I thought Lollipop was supposed to have native wifi calling built into it, that would work with T-Mobile's wifi calling.

It is, or at least a future version will. But.... I'm sure T-Mobile will either need to release an app or give Google the code to add it in and who knows if moto will implement that code, if that's the route T-mo/Google goes.
I guess it could be like an APN where we'd need to enter the correct settings, but I just can't see that as it would be too easy for the masses (not like us here who at least know a little bit) to screw it up.
My honest guess, we'll never see it as T-Mobile doesn't sell this phone in stores or online like they do the Nexus 6. That shouldn't matter, but I can see it being an issue of knowledge base and support (even though the damn thing comes with a T-Mobile Sim). I hope I'm wrong as I'd really like to get WiFi calling back, but in not holding my breath.

Yeah, I really don't want another phone without wifi calling. But I'm hesitating to get the Nexus 6, because of the size. And of course, T-Mobile still have yet to make good on the promise that wifi calling will be enabled on the Nexus 6.
It just doesn't seem like this should be such a big deal. Apple did it on the iPhones and you don't have to buy the iPhone directly from T-Mobile. And T-Mobile has an interest in getting people onto wifi and off of their cellular network, whenever possible.
Will the VoLTE feature be available for this model? Nexus 6...Hard choices!
It is already available on 2013 Moto phones and onwards. Of course it will be on this phone.
It'll be available in the first few months after launch.

While I would love for this to be true, it's not. I specifically passed on the Z3V and am returning my Moto X 2014 because it is not available on either, and neither do simultaneous data/voice without the "Advanced calling 1.0" update, which who knows when it will arrive.
Sad

I get simultaneous calling/data as long as I am on 4g.
Motorola/Verizon have had the fastest updates.
Very surprised the Moto X did not have the update. Then again, the VoLTE is just rolling out for Maxx/Ultra/Mini now.
Can I use VOLTE to call people on other carriers? Probably just a stupid question but I read a post on another forum that for Verizon VOLTE to work so you can use data while on a call it has to be two Verizon VOLTE devices AND both need to be in a VOLTE area...
I assume this isn't true and that I can use VOLTE to call anyone and still use data.

I believe right now it only works on VZW->VZW where both people have VoLTE. Eventually it will work across other carriers, but not until they all adopt the technology more widely.
The HD voice and video calling only work for calls to other volte phones. But you can still call other people with VoLTE enabled and use voice/data.
Does anyone who currently has a moto x4 know if the wifi calling option is available? I have a moto x pure and lenovo has disabled it, even though I'm on nougat. I have T-mobile and I was thinking about getting the moto x4, but if lenovo has disabled wifi calling for some reason I won't get it.
The Android One Moto X4 will most certainly have wifi calling, as it's a key factor in Project Fi compatibility. Not sure about the normal version.

Incase you haven't seen yet it def. does have it
WiFi Calling doesn't work with the Amazon Branded Moto X4 using Verizon Wireless.
I have the x4 Android one on republic wireless and it has WiFi calling. Also my mxp on republic also had WiFi calling. (Maybe because it's what republic is known for but both phones had it and it worked)
FYI the mx4 does not do WiFi calling on mintsim (they don't support the x4 on WiFi calling yet) but the option can still be enabled in settings
Anybody able to get the Moto x4 Android One working with WIFI calling on AT&T?
I have a Moto x4 phone purchased from Amazon and I can't find the setting for wi-fi calling. Anyone know?
Mine is Android One open market and both VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling work on T-Mobile

Just an update...I contacted Verizon today and they said that my specific phone (purchased from Amazon, not Verizon) does not have HD capability and therefore does not support Wi-Fi calling. Seems like something people should be aware of....might have purchased from Verizon in that case. Thanks for the replies....
update: one year 3 months later
Moto x4 1900-1 payton_fi retus running Android 9 wifi calling works on mintmobile.
dos any one no if android one works with wifi calling on verizon postpiad or prepiad ?

It has that ability. At least I know that it does that in Google Fi. But also, Google Duo does that regardless. So if you call other android users using Duo, it will use your Wifi. It is very high quality too.
My Moto X4 (Android one flavor) does wifi calling, HD voice, volte, Hotspot, and CCF beautifully and automatically once I inserted a Mint SIM. Suspect any SIM based on T-mo network would do the same.
