[Q] Error while trying to flash CM.. (i9305t) - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Im trying to flash a nightly build of CM 11/GAPPS on my Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9305t) it's running TWRP v2.6.3.0 which is the latest version on the TWRP site and this is the error I'm getting. I've wiped dalvik cache and cache and also did a factory reset before flashing CM and GAPPS this is the error I get while trying to flash CM..
Code:
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E: error executing updater binary in zip '/external .......
Error flashing zip '/external_sd/CM/cm-11- ...........
Updating partition details .......
[COLOR="Red"]Failed[/COLOR]
Hopefully someone can help me out with this, there is really no way I can update my TWRP because I'm on the newest version, there's another TWRP for the i9305 which is v2.7.0.0 but my phone is a i9305t..
Thanks for the help guys

Try flashing a different nightly maybe. You could also try flashing it from your internal SD.

Hmm, you should probably make a thread asking if it is safe to flash i9305 recoveries on your i9305t. If it is, then try flashing Philz recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/orig-development/i93xx-philz-touch-t2002953) and installing CM with that.

I kind of prefer TWRP I've used CWM and I don't really like it that much. It's taken me nearly 3 days to flash CM it shouldn't really take this long. I'm just trying to find a way to successfully flash it I don't really want to use another different recovery now.

You used CWM on your i9305t? I don't really see why it matters which recovery you use so long as it works, they all pretty much do the same thing.

CWM gave me the same error, I'm not that fussed about recoveries at the moment. I'm trying to find out why it has taken me so long to flash something as simple as CM and why is it giving me these errors.
Thank you.

The problem is definitely recovery related. Like I said before, try and find out whether you can flash i9305 recoveries on it and if so flash Philz. You could also try putting older versions of TWRP on it until you find one that works.

Thanks.

I honestly forget but it was the version without the touch feature and it gave me a similar or exact error as what I'm getting now.

Bootloader (Twrp won't flash things)

Hello there, having trouble flashing roms with trwp 2.3.4 getting error 7.
So I was wondering how do I get into the bootloader or ADB mode when I only have access to twrp?
Want to flash Clockworkmod or a newer version of trwp but can't .
Very frustrating, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which kernel are you on ?
Just flash a stock cm10.1 kernel & reboot to recovery. Then flash whatever you want.

The note is unique as this is all built into the kernel... So flash a new kernel you get a recovery with it... Don't push anything with Adb...if you must use PC Odin

Think I'm on hydracore at the moment, that's what I tried over odin anyway.
Thing is I'm getting efs mount errors when I try and flash my previous rom (alliance v3)
Thanks though, i'll try flashing some different kernel.
Wooo, seems flashing hydracore from odin failed, manually flashing hydracore worked a charm on CWM 6 now and just flashed without any errors.
Thank you very much chaps!
(Although Rom won't boot, is there any additional steps to flashing roms with the note, don't have to do any boot.img stuff right?

[Q] Error installing ROM (please help)

I've installed a number of ROMs on my phone without a hitch ever since rooting it last year.. until now. I did admittedly do one thing different this time around, and that was formatting both the emmc and preload, too, which I'm for some reason now beginning to believe was a bad move. I don't even know why I did that knowing full well that I have absolutely zero technical know-how of these things lol.. Should've just stuck with the fool proof "safe kernel > full wipe > wipe caches > rom and gapps (if required)" formula.
Anyway, I was on a CM10.1 ROM before this happened (vanilla rootbox). I rebooted to recovery, did a full wipe, wiped caches, formatted system, data, preload and emmc, flashed hydracore 7.0 standard and rebooted to recovery again. I then tried installing beerbong's AOSPA PA3.56 ROM which failed with an error that read something like "installation failed, filename.zip (bad)". Even the ROMS that previously installed without an issue won't install now, including vanilla rootbox (returns a status 7 error)..
The f*** have I done ? Please help.
download and copy onto your phone any Philz kernel for JB. After you have flashed that then you can install the other ROMs.

Yeah I've already checked that out -- the problem, however, is that I don't have soldering equipment required for the procedure mentioned :/
I am able to put the phone in download and recovery mode, though (if that can in any way mean that an alternative method to get rid of the yellow triangle can also be used).

I just did that and did a full wipe. It's still saying failed, I can't seem to find out what's the problem. Only having issue flashing to stock but everything else seems to be fine.
good luck with that. best thing I can suggest is try some different button combos. try a different order of operations some how. in twrp, full wipe, system reset, then reboot back into recovery, another wipe /reset and then flash. that's the extent of my knowledge. you said you redownloaded the stock files to flash...maybe find a different place to download it from, could have downloaded a bad file twice?
Are you using the one from the wiki? I just tried it with TWRP 2.5.0.0 and it worked fine.

You are probably going to have to use Odin to flash stock. It is in the wiki.
If you do need it, I posted a copy of Odin for our phone in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2307264
You should probably try to Odin flash TWRP first and see if that fixes it.

Warning: Odin can damage your phone if used improperly. I will walk you through if you need it.

I've flashed using Odin before a while ago when my phone was bricked. I'll have to read this over again and give it a shot. I'll let you know if I need help, thank you so much for your time meek! I appreciate it, I'll let you know how it goes after flashing TWRP with Odin.
Reset your TWRP settings, also, try downloading with a different browser and try under linux. Some browsers and anti-virus have issues with android files and delete them without warning.
Thank you so much for your help guys! I got it to work by flashing using Odin. I'm having a little bit of an issue though, every time my phone dies it starts having problems with the external memory. Like for example, my phone dies and I try to open my camera it'll tell me "not enough space blah blah" and when I try to change the settings through the camera, it just force closes. Not only for the camera, also other apps that need external storage like waze. It won't let me use the GPS because there's no memory. Mind you, I have a 16gb sd card in the phone. Any fix for this situation?
Using AOIP Linaro ROM btw. I couldn't post at the original thread because of my low post count so I'm hoping I get some help here.
Thanks you guys for the help! I really appreciate it.

Ah okay. I would then flash a custom recovery. You can access the bootloader correct? What method did you use to install the rom? Clean flash or wipe is when you erase all the phone's system files, leaving a blank slate for a new rom to be installed on, and should be done before installing a brand new rom to avoid any issues.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568662
This is the link to the recovery image I used, it's the latest clockwordmod touch recovery. Very easy to flash as long as you have fast boot setup correctly. Once you have a working recovery you should be able to try a re-flash.

I'm not sure, since you have tried to flash another rom, a factory reset might not solve the issue. Trying shouldn't brick the phone but I can't say for sure, sorry!

It may have been a bad download. There isn't really any reason for it to not work, although it does say on the page it "You need TRWP 2.6.3.3 custom recovery!"
Not to worry, you can flash it in no-time. Ok so just as before, just flash a new recovery (again) and use the latest image from here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7/
This should allow you to install the rom as the developers intend. It is strange though, i've never encountered a rom where a specific recovery was needed.

Titan twrp can't load any zip files

Good morning guys,
This is my first time trying to install any CM rom on my 2014 Moto G with original 6.0 Marshmallow system, had a little trouble unlocking the bootloader, but solved that in a little while and after that i sucessfully installed TWRP touch but could not flash any zip file from it (including a super user zip, after executing a "run.bat" file required first). After some hours of trying hard, i used the factory reset from the bootloader and after the process was done my wifi and another features stopped working, so i installed a stock kit-kat rom and got everything back to work, problem solved. Unfortunately my TWRP still can't flash the superuser file, and I really wanted to run some custom Nougat rom on my device. Bootloader still unlocked code 3, device fully working on kitkat, but need some tips on how to get over the TWRP trouble I've been dealing with.
Thank you for reading, sorry for bad english.

What error TWRP give? I think its because your new(android 6) bootloader isn't compatible with many roms. I don't know how to fix it :/ but you need to care, many users have hard bricked their devices like that.
