I don't think I've actually seen this floating around anywhere, so I figured I'd share. Its the Camera Firmware updater from Samsung. I've had mixed results with its use on different firmwares. My only issue being FCing on an older Bionix build, as well as a few older Voodoo builds. I've had little to no problems with more recent voodoo builds, just used it on Trigger 2.9.2 with no problems, I've even used it on a phone running Gingerbread without issue. Yes I play with allot of phones...

Downloading now.. will test on stock and modded FFC version and report back.
Said I had the lastest version and then automatically gave me the option to uninstall
anything noticeably different on this over the standard stock FW?
I have an FFC so I doubt it's worth my time to test if there's no FFC support...
Does anyone know what this firmware is supposed to update?

its downloadin and updating now on my phone i can report back later
I do not see any appreciable difference. granted i do not have an ffc so i cant comment on that. If you arent having any problems with your camera id say leave it alone.
Got this from Samsung apps. Nothing at all noticeable. Switched to captivate camera apk

Anyone with a FFC (2nd gen) comment on this?
I've just installed it and tested it with the ffc (1st gen). There is not much different in my opinion. There seems to be a little less banding in low light condition and that's about it. 720p recording works well. I will test it with the 2nd gen camera tonight when I get home.

I have tested the new firmware on FFC v2. Its having different issues with the camera. When I record on 720p I get a white screen. Its recording but I see nothing. Once I stop it crashes. I than go to gallery and my recording its there @ 720p or at least it seems that way.
I have been testing with different camera.apk files... some be have differently than others. All for the worst I am afraid so

I install the file.
Using Bionix-V 1.3.1
When I open the file it tells me I am running the latest firmware.
It didnt do anything for me.
Edit:
Which camera apk are you using?
Edit Again: Now it just reboots in 720p
Another Edit wtf!: lol ok If I set the permissions on the filr to -r- only the file crashes. If I set them to rwx-rwx- it gives me the white screen while it records.
Any ideas?

there is app updates for:
Motorola Gallery v304100
Motorola Camera v5.0.7.1
Motorola Help v1.4.32
Motorola Update Services v7.0.1
Motorola Contextual Services v5.18.063
Motorola Migrate v1.6.0.30
Moto app v2.2.8
here is the link
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/motorola-mobility-llc/
did anyone try to update, what is working and what is not?
The fact they are Moto updates means everything should be working Otherwise they probably wouldn't be released
So yes, clearly they are working. And working great. UI changes are meh though. And you can ALWAYS downgrade if the updates don't work
i upgraded camera - nothing seems new, new icon
then upgraded gallery - 5.0 icon, highlight reel added like on 2014 moto x
The camera and gallery work the rest do not work at all and break touchless for me
Has anyone else actually loaded and tried these
update: motorola mobility llc. decided to remove all .apks from website, so who downloaded and installed enjoy new updates and everyone else, wait for OTA which will be coming soon
Anyone have these apks that they can share?
Just curious, thanks.
Can anyone upload the moto contextual services 5.18.063?The file in the apkmirror is not found, many thanks……

Thanks, I couldn't get them to download properly but I'll try again from my desktop. Maybe mediafire isn't liking the mobile download right now.

Made a back up with titanium back up and uninstalled it after. Rebooted, then installed moto.apk however when launching moto it says its not compatible with device. So I deleted moto and restored assist. So all worked for me except the moto.apk no issues with them yet as well.
yes... moto app is not working but it will be in future, i think that is one of main reason why they removed all apks (who apply for soak testing probably know what am i talking) and the other reason is when ppl install context and update services it mess up their statistic...

Thanks for this but I just can't get it to work a hundred percent. It's like the touch screen is just off. On initial start up I have to hit the back button to get off the start up screen. I can't get the video camera to work cause when I tap on the video icon it just takes a pic. I can barely mess with the settings because half the icons won't do a thing when I tap on them.
It's like the screen calibration is bad.
I've uninstalled, reinstalled and redownloaded the apk. Wiped data within the app. I'm running AICP. Didn't work right on the 10/14 build and still not working with the 10/16 build.
Any suggestions? Is this working fine for anyone else?

I am running the latest AICP 10/16,
I don't have any of the issues that you are describing,
the buttons all work when they are pressed
and the screen focuses and takes a picture where I touch the screen
Did you change your screen density off of the default 560 dpi?
Also I haven't changed any of the settings in the Moto Camera, just using it the way it installs at this time.
I had issue when changing DPI on the screen, all the icons didnt res correctly. I just used Xposed with App Settings and set the original DPI... It worked a treat
Thanks guys yeah I changed my DPI I'm sure that's the issue. I've used that Xposed Module before I'll go ahead and get that up and running.
Thanks again I should have thought about the DPI.

can confirm, but I think the previous posters were talking about using the apk on non-stock roms. hence the need for xposed twist mod.
Just a word of caution. I tried replacing my /system/priv-app/ apps (MotCamera and MotGallery2) with these on stock and it broke my build. Even after reverting the files, it was so screwed up that I had to do a nandroid restore to recover. It might be because of the package names.

It might be because these are specifically designed to NOT be put into the priv-app,
they are designed to be a separate APK that runs in addition to the camera.
There are other attempts elsewhere that try to replace the built-in camera, but all of them I tried break various other things on the phone.
Also is why the following line is in the Op

So i tried this, and I was able to replace the system app. However it wouldn't work with the twist motion (probably package name.
The deodexed stock has the gallery features built in, so I was able to get the default camera to expose its features though moto checkbox and it works with moto assist.

If you are using the mobile Chrome and it downloads as a .BIN file, go to Chrome settings and request the desktop site version of the website (in mobile Chrome) and click on the "download" again so it downloads as APK.
But make sure you are in Chrome. When I click on the link on my phone, "Google" opens the link and it's not actually Chrome browser. (They look very similar.) I know because when I go to the browser settings, it asks me if I want to open in Chrome. Open in Chrome.

Depends on how you download it. IF you download it from PC version of Chrome, it definitely downloads as an APK. You can also force it to download as an APK in mobile Chrome.
Copy and paste the URL into mobile Chrome. (When I click on the link it's Google that opens, not Chrome. I know that because when I go to the menu it asks me if I want to open in Chrome.)
Make sure Chrome is open and you are using that. If it downloads as bin again, then go to settings and check mark "desktop version" of website. Click on the file. It will then download as an APK.

Then you're doing something wrong? Well, not personally, but in your phone configuration.
What GAPPS do you have? I'm only asking because someone on RR 7.X changed GAPPS and suddenly the video works for them. Not sure why that would make a difference, just telling you what happened. Many others on 6.X (like me) and 7.X have no issues at all. So, it has to be something with your setup?

Also some people have reported the very first time they try to record video, doesn't work, but then works every time after that. For me, on RR 6.X, it took a picture instead of recording -- on both mine and my wife's phones. Then every time after that, it records video. People on Nougat ROMs says it crashes first time, then will record video.

This version worked for me! Don't forget to reboot after installing it, or else video recording won't work.
Thank you very much!
This version is DPI independent (since it's from Nougat) and works fine if you're running custom DPI scaling on your phone. I could not use previous versions because the touch detection coordinates were messed up if you changed DPI.
Thanks again! Finally back to the Moto camera app.
here's been a couple of fixes I think since I posted. Here's the download link for version 4, and the op has been updated with that link.

You may need to uninstall and re-install.
Hi, thanks for the update.
It seems like manual focus is still not working for me. Is it supposed to work ?

These two users say it now works for them, unless I am misunderstanding. One of them is the dev who posted it over in the XDA thread.

Ok, thanks for the feedback.
When i took the two images this morning i noticed that when i manually set the iso to 400 the image outputs were almost the same, adjusting it to 800 or 1600 showed the biggest difference.

They both have the Moto X Pure, not the Quark. But should still work.
I'm able to go into professional mode, click the auto focus button and change it to manual. Then, I'm able to rotate along the semi-circle. It seemed to be working but I didn't mess with it extensively.

This no longer works properly after the latest Resurrection Remix update (included new camera libraries). If you tap on HDR and switch it to on or auto, it always goes to off.

Can you also report it here at this link below? I'm not the dev keeping this current, I just thought it would be useful for people with Moto Quark.
Tell them it's RR Nougat you are using and which phone.

NEW MOTO G5 CAMERA FOR QUARK
I'm still on RR 6.X. and this one below -- from new Moto G5 -- is newer camera than I had. Thank you to @zys52712 for finding it!
________
I just downloaded this modded APK, and installed it. I then froze the older Motorola (system) camera. The new one shows up as a user app camera. For a few minutes I had two cameras, until I froze the old one.
Everything works well. Yes, it even has professional mode, but I probably won't use that. Video works well too.

EDIT:
Download with Chrome. It should download an an APK. PC version of Chrome always downloads as an APK.
______
BE SURE TO REBOOT THE PHONE AFTER YOU INSTALL THE NEW CAMERA!
Video recording may not work until you reboot the phone.
_______
You should probably freeze (or uninstall) any other cameras until you are sure there are no conflicts.
________
I tested both 1080p and 2160p (4K), and the rear camera works fine.
Video works fine on my Quark (Moto XT1225), but I have the native 1080p QUARK camera video resolution chosen for video recording. I did test 2160p (4K) and it also works fine.
The Quark camera specs are this:
Any other resolution except for those two might not work for Quark (Droid Turbo, Moto Turbo, Moto Maxx).
Since both my TVs are 1080p, I just kept it on that. While 2160p (4K) works, it doesn't do me any good, even on my 1440p AMOLED Moto Maxx display, you know?

Did you reboot after installing? Video won't work until you reboot...
Mine still works great, including video. Did you download the latest version? Go to that thread to make sure.
I think I have the latest posted here, but the newest has permissions for Nougat. And there's even a newer version someone made that will work even with non-Moto phones (like OnePlus 3T). But I didn't post that one here.
HDR+ is already available through efforts

This is a good start! Thank you !
This is great! Is there a reason why you ported version 5 instead of the newer versions (6.x)? Merely curious.
Excellent, just did a quick test and photos seams sharper with gcam.
- Can you change default app for opening miniature?
- ISO setting don't work
Keep up the great work

Donated. Great start start. Please continue working on this!
I cant use it always fc
i dearly hope that guy in the other thread who kept hammering on about wanting gcam to be ported to xperia 1 will give a fair donation to this bloke.
Hi! Ma Shao
China Mainland seems to have published nw-a100 and ZX500 Series with android 9 system
Have you tried to extract the app of the player from walkman APP (W.mucis)
For use with XPERIA phones.
What's the difference between the two apks?
Settings works, great!
M-rom you make very good custom ROMs you ever going to make for Xperia 1 I use to have m-rom on my xz premium
Portrait mode doesn't blur the background or am I missing something?

Some minor diffenence in settings.
Not all settings work, have to try some times.
My observations so far are that Gcam images look more organic and with much less artifacts than the stock camera, jpg files are also bigger with more information and hold up to editing better than the ones from the stock camera. The port is definitely worth it and I hope M-rom keeps working on it.
I can't get regular photos to work with either apk. Video works, photos w/front camera work, but can't get rear camera to work. Any tips?
No idea, both versions work for photos for me (on one of them portrait mode doesn't start). I use both.
Can anyone post comparison photos between Gcam and original ?
Portrait mode doesn't work with portrait camera.

Maybe you can check if you turned the "raw+jpg" on or not. I tried this before and it won't work. Turned off then rear camera worked.
