I read that Microsoft closed the fiddler loophole, is this still true, I just picked up an htx 8x and tried to run nokia portal but it failed did it fail because the loophole is gone or am I missing something?

Hi everyone
Yesterday rooted my phone using the one click root program on Mac.
Rooting and later on installing Titanium Backup and ROM manager went smoothly. Made backups as well.
However this morning I noticed something peculiar.
Clicking my phone from standby, I saw the browser opened with a site I don't know and not visited before and a pop up if I want to continu with loading the digital/SSL certificate. In the afternoon for a second time again, but this time a known site.
Checked google if such a malware exist on Android. And whether it is possible to set a root password in android. But both questions were not answered positively yet.
Have any one of you seen such a behaviour before?
did you install any illegal software in the phone?
as in those full copies of software not from Android Market?
not that I am aware of.
Most of them were from Android Market.
it is very suspicious that issue popped up after rooting.
I removed all apps that got default root access.
Will report again if issue reappears.
most people visiting this forum have their SGS rooted, and i've not read about this sort of weird issues until now.
myself included.
it'll be good to find out what is causing you to have those random pop ups of websites.
did you install VNC server or something similar by any chance?
That Security warning seems to be Browser bugs.. It pop up on my Nexus one after official Android 2-1 update1 and Android 2.2(Froyo ) update.(OTA).
=> All update are done with files from Google server direct.
Likewise the same happened after updating Galaxy S with the new FW..
Along the way, during update, the digital signature get messed..??
A question from a totally new windows phone noob.
Long time ago i buy an app for check my phone balance (calls credit, mobile data MB left), now that application was removed from store and i cant reinstall that because i changed my phone from HTC HD7 to Lumia 1520.
My question is: i have the XAP file of that app downloaded from official store before the remove, if i dev unlock (basic unlock - 2 apps) my Lumia 1520 i can install that application?
Thanks
Can you open xap with 7-Zip and view files inside ?
I have 2 XAP of that app.
1 is opened by 7-zip the other not

For deploy i need "2 app unlock" or i can simply install with the SD card tip?
A little background: Sometime around the end of the WP7 lifetime, Microsoft started encrypting Store apps with DRM. Those cannot be sideloaded using app deployment, though they can be installed via the SD card if the app is allowed to be installed at all. The bold part is important; installing from SD still requires accessing the store to get a license for the app, and Microsoft can just not give you one.
Non-DRMed apps (recognizable because you can open them as ZIP archives) can be deployed using Application Deployment if your phone is developer-unlocked (the 2-app unlock is fine) and the app doesn't require any special capabilities (for WP7.x apps, that just means the app doesn't have ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES in its manifest). If there's a file called WMAppPRHeader.xml in the .XAP, you'll need to remove it before deploying.
If the app has ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES in its WMAppManifest.xml file, you'll need to interop-unlock the phone first. This is now possible for Lumia phones with SD cards, such as the 1520. I'm not going to explain the details of doing it here; they're easy to find on the forum in the dev&hacking section especially.
Note that an app which has been un-published may simply no longer work. Many apps have to talk to a server somewhere for the app to function. That server might no longer be available for your app. This is pretty common for unpublished apps; no reason to keep a server running for an app nobody is using (or it could be the other way around; they might have unpublished the app because it wasn't worth the cost to keep the server running and without the server the app is useless). Basically, even if you get the app to install and run, there's no guarantee that it'll work.
I'd like to install a couple of very useful apps that were removed from the store (MS Health and Fitness and Glance Background Beta). I've found the xaps but everytime I tried it says there was a problem with the company application and can't install. Also they can't be deployed with WP deployment tool for developers.
Any other trick/hack that I'm missing?
Thank you guys!
glance background beta is useless on W10M... picture on glance screen now is part of glance settings... also Microsoft Health is available for W10M...
if you use 8.1, try install glance background via sysapppusher or try https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/glance-background/9wzdncrfhw46
I'm on wp8.1 (lumia 920). Microsoft Health is different from the one I said. I'll try what you suggested

I've tried, but the store says the app is not available for my phone, which is pretty weird as I have it installed until I downgraded it to wp8.1
I acidently unistalled the MSN healt and fitness app from my lumia 830, but i want it back. It has the lock screen stepcount.
I have tried Dev unlock, other things but had not any luck.
Will factrory reset bring it back?
Latest week I have reset my L830 and I can't fetch My apps library list on WP8.1 with 805a01f4 error. Although any apps from the catalog or search downloaded well as well as I can buy a new apps. I trying to reset it a couple of times with no luck. Is it the end? I have backuped mostly of my apps to deploying it from PC. I just wanna to know the reason. Twitt to @MicrosoftHelps have no answer. Triyng to get help from B2X but they ask me to pay for answers.
According to WP8 users report i talk with, Microsoft has disable some WP8 features after drop support for it. So don't reset your WP8 if ya need feature to fetch your app library on your WP8 otherwise ya've get butthurt.
My mum uses a 735 as she finds its easier to use than android, but i'm her tech support (i always use android) so i just bought a 735 from ebay just so i can talk my mum through how to do things if she's stuck (she's 81)
I'm having trouble signing in to my hotmail account on the phone, it seems like it's not finding any server to connect to.
Is it only the store & support that finished?
I should still be able to log into my HM account on the phone?
Sorry, but Windows Phone 8.1's support has officially ended since 2018 (I think), and has finally plugged out its services since December 2019. The only option is to either upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile or switch to another os. If you can't due to some various and valid reasons, you can try unlocking the phone for dev use (dev unlock) and deploy xap/appx/appxbundle files of apps you like to install... But that includes luck if someone else has that. (I don't want to promote piracy, but you need pirated/cracked xap/appx files in order to deploy them without error)
If you just wanted to add an email provider, use the "advanced setup" option in settings > email+accounts.
Unless someone has finally found the solution for WP 8.1 without upgrading to Windows 10 to install apps from the Store, you have to rely on finding deploying app files in the Internet.
