[Q] Where can I find the latest custom recovery? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys I'm trying to find a recovery for my xperia z1, I just unlocked the bootloader but I cant find any recoveries or tutorials on how to install them, anybody have any ideas?
Thanks.

You'll find it here. Contains both CWM and TWRP, it's pretty neat.
Btw, there's no need to unlock the bootloader for that, you only need root.

If you want to install a custom rom you need to unlock your bootloader, this will void your warranty.
1. Downgrade to 4.2.2 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/stock-rom-xperia-z-c6603-10-3-1-2-67-t2512422
2. root your phone via easy rooting method :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327472
3. Backup your TA-Partition:
4: unlock your bootloader
5: search for a custom rom you like and follow the instructions in the specific thread

Rooted with towelroot.What next?

Dear all,
I have rooted my device which is running 4.3 (c5502) (build number: . 101) with towelroot. Now i need to install any custom ROM. I came to know that it requires to install recovery first before flash any ROM. I stuck there..Can you please guide me. I didn't unlock my bootloader yet but I had my TA backup with me.Thanks in advance guys.
whatever u need to know is already there. just search for it. if u expect to be spoonfed then you really shouldn't mess with your phone
The thing is, do we really need to unlock boot loader to flash custom roms, or can it be closed just with root and recovery?
No one tryed it till now I think.
Greetings.

Yes for flashing custom Roms the bootloader must be unlocked and a recovery must be installed however if you want to flash a stock based Rom unlocked boot loader is not needed. Just Root and Recovery needed for flashing the stock based Roms. Correct me if i am wrong.

Help rooting?

Hello all,
Im totally confused as to how to go about rooting my device c6902. Ive owned a couple of android devices and Ive rooted them all, however....with this device and there seem to be different ways people have rooted from reading the threads and im totally confused, So far I have unlocked the bootloader, and upgraded the device OTA to lollipop .242 (before the bootloader was unlocked), I dont intend installing any custom firmware, just want root so I can use TB and maybe delete a few bloatwares with root explorer and use xposed.
Im confused as to whether:
1. I have to downgrade firmware to kitkat, just to get root, then upgrade back to official firmware?
2. Ive been under the impression that a custom recovery and supersu, is enough to get root. It doesnt work that way on this device?
3. I saw some oneclick root programs that worked on the z1 compact would any work here
Just trying to know more about the phone and understand, so any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Using the guide on the link I just posted, you are not required to unlock the bootloader, unlocking the bootloader without backing up the TA partition can cause problems with your phone.
You need to downgrade to KitKat 4.4.4 with kernel 108, then root it with easyroot install supersu and rootchecker to make sure your phone is rooted, the use NUTs recovery to create a recovery partition, after that search XDA forums for a pre-rooted lollipop flashable zip and install that, and voila you should be on lollipop with root and recovery.
I am not sure about one-click root programs.

Thanks for your help.

If you really searched Z1 threads, you would have found the answer: absolutely no. You can't unlock your bootloader and you can't have a custom rom, other than some customizations of stock. Now, don't ask to show you stock based roms. Search and you will find out...

Sounds like an all stock Z1. I'm guessing you already read the 1st reply to your post. Yes, @optimumpro is right you have absolutely no way of being able to unlock your phone's bootloader. And booting to recovery? It doesn't have a recovery screen that looks anything like TWRP or CWM. You will need to root your phone and install a custom recovery such as TWRP, CWM, or DualXZ1Recovery

You answered yourself.
With an unlockable bootloader and already on 5.1.1 your only way ist to downgrade to an android version that is rootable.
In your case the latest rootable is .270.
After rooting you must flash a custom recovery. Having a custom recovery you can flash latest pre-rooted firmware through recovery. At the moment a pre-rooted firmware is the only way to get root.

Recovery with LB in Concept

Hello, I've been looking around the threads but is there a way to install recovery (twrp/zxdual) in the concept Rom without unlocking the Bl? I'm not looking for root, just recovery. Also flashing zips with LB, will that show the system is comprised message? Thanks.
