Hello,
Is there any one using the ATT GS5 on Tmobile network (obviously Tmobile SIM) with wifi calling working ? (Please..please.. I know ATT does not have wifi calling, But if you use a Tmobile Rom with Tmobile sim, you expect to have it working) !!
If yes, would you please share which ROM you are using ? Also if there is a trick to make it wok please share it?
Thanks
no luck so far
This is not a solution, I just wanted to report what I have tried so far.
I have a G900A with a t-mobile SIM card. I called TMO to make sure wifi calling was enabled on my line. I used towelroot + safestrap to install the t-mobile Alliance rom (B4), as well as the latest stock TMO rom. So far, wifi calling does not work. It is always stuck on "Enabling" in the calling options menu. VoLTE doesn't work either, but I wasn't expecting it to. My guess is that there is something in the TMO baseband that makes these things work and that ATT phones don't have.
Any hints and ideas would me much appreciated!

JJ here,
I tried this ROM - [ROM] G900TUVU1BNH5 ported from TMobile, rooted, deodexed, no knox, Download Booster
... everything works, nice and smooth, but the Wifi Calling is stuck "Enabling"...
Same boat.
My att s5 is unlocked and on the tmobile network. Your telling me i can flash the tmobile stock rom? And everything will be working properly, except wifi calling?

Will everything else work properly? I mainly need the t mobile stock rom to enable mobile hotspot, I have an ATT phone and do not wish to trip efuse. Thanks
does anyone know if the same issue will happen with the international version?
On a similar topic, my dad has a AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 which was sold in Malaysia. And I found out that his phone was not able to hotspot. I have downloaded the official firmware of Samsung Galaxy S5 for Malaysia and was going to use Odin to flash the firmware into his phone. Does that work and not brick the phone? The phone seems to be unlocked as it can be used here except the firmware and the phone is AT&T barnded. Any advise? Thanks

It all works!
Guys, I have some great news. Both wifi calling AND VoLTE now work on my SM-G900A on the T-mobile network. Here is what I did:
I installed the latest ATT firmware (OA1), released earlier this February. OTA update did not work, so I had to flash the original firmware (ANCE) via Odin, and then flash the two subsequent updates using update.zip on the SD Card. This will remove safestrap and root, but fear not.
Once my phone had AO1 installed, I used this tutorial to root the phone again. It invonves temporarily flashing an earlier (ND3) kernel, using TowelRoot, and then reflashing the OA1 kernel
With my OA1 rooted, I installed safestrap. Make sure you install busybox first.
With safestrap, I installed the T-mobile Alliance Rom (build B4).
Seconds after booting, both Wifi Calling and Voice over LTE work!
Enjoy!
Guillaume
Hi Guillaume,
Have you tried just installing the stock T-mobile 5.0 firmware on a Att GS5 ?
I have my GS5 in ND3 rooted and I'm on Tmobile, but the procedure you have seems really long...
I really need wifi calling as I'm travelling a lot and it allows to call my wife when I'm back in France.
Thanks

Thanks as this is great news for us G900A users on TMO! Question though: After 0A1 installed/backedup and Alliance installed, did you use safestrap [TWRP] to restore your data from 0A1 install?

Actually no; I had been using the t-mo alliance rom using safestrap for a long time (just with the old ATT modem and kernel), so I just restored the data associated with that.
Some more info after a day of tests:
You can also install the 5th build of Alliance Rom, it works too
The camera sometimes glitches a bit; toggling HDR on/off fixes it
Except for the camera glitch I'm pretty happy with it!

I might to try to create a flashable zip from the latest t-mobile lollipop release, keeping only the /system files, and see how that goes. This is really a shot in the dark, hoping that the 4.4.4 modem and kernel from ATT somehow work well enough with the t-mobile lollipop rom. Damn you locked bootloader!

Agree with the last expletive.
I did install in alliance B4 in slot 1 of Safestrap and both wi-fi tether and calling worked well. However, my G900A would not reboot or shutdown (dark screen) without a battery pull. After power up...worked?!?!
Did you install as "Stock" or in a slot?
Also have a G870A (Active). Do you know of anyone attempting the 0A1 method and Alliance Rom with the s5 Active?

I only use the stock slot.
B4 seems a bit more than stable than B5 for some reason. I get some signal issues with B5, and the fingerprint scanner sometimes fails. (It works when I first install B4, use it for a while, and then upgrade to B5. But if I do a /data wipe on B5, these issues appear. I have no idea why).

Okay thanks,
So I started the steps, I've Odin the original firmware and factory reset on but my baseband stayed ND3...
Tried the OTA update hoping that it would work, but as expected it did not.
So I guess I'm at step 1 of your step one.
Then you said you pushed the update via sd card, where did you find the updates ?
Then I'll do the other steps!
Baby steps by baby steps, F... it's been a long time since I rooted my ipod 1st gen to crack my ps3!

They are in the post that I linked to, under the troubleshooting section. If you want to keep your user data, use adb sideload instead of recovery

OK. Installed in stock slot but ROM behaved much differently.
1. Wifi sms/mms work both send/receive but erratically.
2. Outgoing calls connect then immediately drop with local "cancelled" within a few milli-secs with a partial ring at the far end.
3. Can't receive calls at all. TMO network thinks I'm offline even though can receive a text.
3. Phone App GUI stutters when making a call.
4. Camera is basically not usable.
Where there any special steps you took to get this working installed in the stock slot? Has your install remained stable? Thanks in advance.

My phone is still working flawlessly. What your are describing is what happened to me during the short period I reverted to the NG3 kernel in order to use Towelroot. Did you make sure to reflash the OA1 kernel once you were rooted? (before installing safestrap and, within safestrap, installing the Alliance Rom). I have found Alliance B4 to be more stable, so you could try that. Finally, a factory reset (wipe option in safestrap). Beyond that, you could try the whole thing again: flash the "downgrade to NCE" rom, which will remove safestrap and clean everything up; and take the tutorial from there.

Thanks again Guillaume,
Was running OA1 prior to Alliance B3, so just wiped Dalvik and Cache again, rebooted and left phone for the night. By next morning all was well except for the camera HDR issue. Once toggled it is OK until closed and reopened. Haven't had the time to look into whether there are Alliance B4 options which may affect this.
Have run it a few days and have had zero issues with Wi-Fi calling or tethering or apps: a very smooth experience.
Thanks again for your contribution. Also muniz_ri will find a bottle of wine on the doorstep soon. :highfive:

NG2 Baseband
1. Use ssu.apk to unlock it first
2.use cf auto root to it
3 use adb:
su
am broadcast -a android.provider.Telephony.SECRET_CODE -d android_secret_code://27663368378
UMTS -> DEBUG SCREEN -> PHONE CONTROL -> NETWORK CONTROL -> GCF
There the phone is domestic unlock without downgrading the modem

@AndroidKing, after doing just pop up domestic sim and go?
how you discovered this? lol
I have not tested yet, but this kill all other methods
thanks,
yea pop the sim and go i found this method when i was nae frimware and baseband and kept updating it went NG2 and lost the unlock for some reason so I tried so this i seen for the note 3/l720t and it worked
So Does this method make my device works on CDMA&GSM carriers (standby),or GSM only carriers?
Thanks for the steps and instruction. Quick question:
- if step 1 (ssu.apk) does the unlock, then why do we need to do steps 2 and on?
Thanks !

No this is NOT for rooting
This is only for unlocking. To root the NG2 build you have to use chainefires method which will trip Knox. But you said you don't mind. So root and flash away!

I can't believe it was this easy. I temp flashed back to stock rooted ng2, used ssu.apk to unlock, then restored my GPE Lollipop 5.0.1 backup, popped in my Metro sim(t-mobile), set it to World mode, and bam, says I'm on T-mobile's network, calls and data seem to work. It even shows up as MetroPCS as the active network under status. Put the Sprint sim back in, and it's back to my Ting account.
So to recap, I went to stock NG2 rom, did step one only, skipped the other steps, then went back to custom rom and it now works great. Thanks dude

I responded to your PM. I hope you have time to read a book. lol
For anyone else that's wondering:
1. be on stock NG2. ssu.apk force-closes on aosp/custom roms, at least for me.
2. Run ssu.apk and do the unlock. This does not require root.
3. do the other commands through ADB(step 3 from Androidking's original post), just in case. You may or may not need them. I don't know why it worked for me without them. That step DOES require root.
4. Test your sim card and make sure your phone can read it, and if possible, make a call, try text/data, whatever.
5. Flash to the rom of your choice. I recommend this excellent Lollipop rom by Danvbh: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-5-0google-play-edition-lrx219-12-24-t2982384
It allows easy selection of any band/technology that the phone is capable of(which will not actually mean anything until after this unlock procedure). It also automatically gives you many choices for APN's related to your chosen band(not sure if that is a feature of the rom, or if it is standard Android behavior.) Easily select the correct APN for all sorts of carriers, including many popular prepaid services. No manual entry of info needed(probably).
One thing to note: on the custom rom, when I have my Sprint sim in, it says "Invalid Sim" on the lockscreen. The phone does read the sim though, it just says it doesn't. Not sure why that happens. It may be due to the fact that I deactivated my Ting service and haven't gotten new service elsewhere yet, so it can't actually connect to any 4g lte service. It doesn't do that in the stock rom though, it displays normally. Probably just an odd quirk that will work itself out when I switch services. Nothing to worry about.

I tried terminal emulator and it opens up the secret menu that opens when you dial *#0011# everytime. I couldnt get into it dialing that tho. I cant get it to work in adb for some reason. So I just used this to get into the menu and change everything manually. The only problem I have now is when I flash a lollipop rom, the network mode gets stuck on LTE only. Even if I change it to world mode, when I go back it just goes back to LTE only. Any ideas?

Good day everyone! I've had the HTC One for over a year now, and about six months ago I stopped paying the phone bill on the phone because for some reason Sprint said I owed them $500+; I continued to use it as a WIFI-only device though. Recently, a family member allowed me to come on their Sprint plan and they even bought me a Galaxy S4; unfortunately the screen cracked a month ago(stupid samsung). So I placed the LTE sim from the S4 into the HTC One and I was able to receive LTE and 3G; though there were drawback such as having to turn airplane mode on then back off again every hour or two. I recently flashed the new lollipop ROM, and for some reason I don't have LTE/3G; the icons are there but when I try to look up something it performs as if I have no internet. When I flashed back to the previous KitKat ROM and restored my data, I had Internet again. I believe that because I used the same ROM when I had service is the reason I can use LTE/3G; some system app is probably holding my account information. I'll also note I can't activate the phone when I flash the lollipop ROM because I have no service, though after the self-service app gives up and allows me to access the phone, the LTE/3G icons are up there; just no internet. I can't recovery restore my Kitkat data into the lollipop ROM, because I'll enter an inescapable, never-ending boot loop until the phone dies. So I'll have to titanium backup my data, I just don't know where my account information data is located; any help?
It sounds like you didn't update the radios and firmware. If you try to run a lollipop ROM with older ones, you won't get data.

I think that firmware comes with the updated radios. Just to make sure, I'd update using the full firmware and then reflash recovery. That way you know everything is up to date.
I have a t-mobile purchases N6 that is running rooted stock. This morning I got the message that the 5.1.1 update was available and I let it download but since I am running TWRP, nothing happened at reboot which is what you would expect. Can I just install the rom that downloads? I know there is a rooted stock rom available but I sometimes use wifi calling. I don't care if I lose root but I want to make sure I don't brick my phone.
I think more than anything I don't want to keep looking at the notification that tells me there is a new version and it won't go away.
You won't be able to flash the OTA file since you made modifications to /system. It will just fail The OTA is just a patch and not a full image.
If you want to update to 5.1.1, you'll need to flash the image or a custom ROM.
Ok thanks! Other than losing WiFi calling, is there any issue with flashing the international ROM to a T-Mobile phone? I know T-Mobile has a weird band that isn't always connected with all radios, at least on other phones.
if you want wifi calling and 5.1.1, install the t-mobile specific rom here:

Hello So I have a brand new, unlocked, Samsung Note 3 (SN-900A - AT&T variety) that I bought from Best Buy. In the next few days I'll be switching to T-Mobile (no comments on carrier switch please), but since the GSM phone is unlocked I can use it on T-Mobile's network
Here is the current status of my phone:
Used Odin to flash back to stock AT&T 4.4.2 ROM from installed NL1 4.4.4
Rooted device on 4.4.2 and then upgraded to rooted/stock AT&T ROM 4.4.4 using SuperSU, BusyBox, and SafeStrap as explained here, here, and here (did not update to Lollipop)
Used Root App VIP to manually disable AT&T bloatware now that I have the phone rooted on 4.4.4
So in its current form my phone is rooted on 4.4.4 and working pretty well. I'm happy thus far and don't want to get too greedy since it works.
However I have a few questions about how to backup my current ROM and about geeting some better understanding about the root and ROM process. I would be quite appreciative if someone could assist me with the answers please!
It appears the original Dev of Safestrap (the core app at the heart of rooting and upgrading the Note 3 in my process) has moved onto greener pastures. Since SafeStrap does not work on 4.4.4 (can't boot into recovery or do backups), what is the replacement tool/utility? Should I use Odin for everything? OdinMobile? CWM? TWRP? FlashFire? I've read a bunch of threads on the differences and I'm having a hard time making heads or tails of it all. The main thing I want to be able to do now is backup my current ROM like you could previously with Safestrap, and update to a new ROM if I so choose.
I never wanted the bloatware - do you think I flashed the wrong ROM? Should I have used a stock ASOP ROM if I didn't want bloatware or is this not possible on the 900A?
Ironically if I had to have bloatware I would have preferred to have T-Mobile's since I will be on their network. Could I have put a T-Mobile ROM image on an AT&T variant of the phone? (just curious)
I used a AT&T stock ROM apparently from those links I posted which propogated the bloatware to 4.4.4, however at least I'm rooted. I believe this was all done to not disturb the KNOX flag. I have a warranty from BestBuy I would like to keep (1 year), but I can't go to AT&T for warranty service (they are not my carrier) and I didn't buy the phone from T-mobile either, so is the warranty worth anything anyway?
I keep reading that the AT&T variant of Note 3 has a 'locked bootloader' and that's what's with going to all the trouble with SafeStarp was about. Essentially it loads an alternate image/ROM not disturbing the stock one so that the KNOX flag is never triggered. Is there a way to unlock the bootloader on this phone or should I even care?
I'm early enough in this process that if I went down the wrong path I could do something different. Any or all help/assistance is greatly appreciated!

I'm early enough in this process that if I went down the wrong path I could do something different. Any or all help/assistance is greatly appreciated!

When I'm on a 4.4.4 Rom, I use AT&T OC1,NL1,NJ5 SafeStrap Work Around http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/att-nj5-safestrap-t2957471 install the Kernel Flasher http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/development/nc2-flasher-app-unsafe-t2989141/ grant it Supersu and tap to reboot, it will boot to Safestrap and do your backup or whatever you are doing. Once done you MUST flash the kernel may it be the NL1 or OC1, but you must flash it with Safestrap. The NL1 kernel (SM-N900A_NL1_KERNEL_RecoveryFlashable.zip) is for NL1 and NJ5 Roms and the OC1 kernel (SM-N900A_N900AUCUEOC1_KERNEL_Recovery-Flashable.zip) is only for OC1 Roms. I don't use Mobile Odin or FlashFire. Even though you are on T-Mobile the phone is AT&T which has a locked boot loader, so you can not use CWM or TWRP and you are stuck using only AT&T Roms. You can use Titanium Backup to remove any bloatware (Backup first saves on headache, case something goes wrong or you can freeze it). This is a T-Moible Rom that is ported for AT&T; T-Mobile Alliance Lollipop Rom on ATT Note 3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/t-mobile-alliance-rom-att-note-3-t3065127 and since you are on T-Mobile, you wouldn't have to "After the phone came up, I went to settings..general..applications...running .... and found every Tmobile app and cleared cache and disabled them. The real important one here is the Visual Voicemail. Otherwise it will keep on trying to contact Tmobile and then you will get text messages saying there is an error." It is a OC1 Rom (Lollipop) so you would need the SM-N900A_N900AUCUEOC1_KERNEL_Recovery-Flashable.zip because you would flash this in Safestrap once you have used the Kernel Flasher to access Safestrap. [How-To] Update to N900A_NL1 - 4.4.4 and Keep Root (12-24-2014) http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/how-to-root-n900aucudnl1-4-4-4-12-24-t2983357 is just the plain AT&T Rom that's been rooted, that's why you got all that bloatware. I go right here for any Rom I wish to install, Android development for the AT&T Galaxy Note 3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/development Forgot to say, write down your APN settings, so you can still get data. This had all been really helpful, thank you. I've read the post a bunch and followed all the steps. The NC2 flasher is awesome and works great!
However, I'm trying to make heads or tails though of the T-Mobile Alliance ROM version to use (reminder I want a T-Mobile ROM on my AT&T Note 3 since I'm on T-Mobile's network). The underlying link that has the T-Mobile Alliance ROM to actually download states that KNOX is removed and activated (0x1). However the link provided by you to the T-Mobile Alliance flashing instructions page has multiple replies saying KNOX remains undisturbed and is at 0x0 after completion. I'm probably asking the wrong questions, but is the process of using Safestrap regardless of the ROM I'm using prevent KNOX from being tripped? Or is it that the newest version of the Alliance ROM is what would trip KNOX (i.e. should I use an older version of the ROM that doesn't remove KNOX)?
I have everything backed up, downloaded and ready to flash and install. I just want to flash this T-Mobile Alliance ROM but not trip KNOX. Once I can get a clear understanding this I'm ready to move forward and complete it.

Safestrap will not stop Knox from tripping. If you are not sure, if you Knox will trip or not then I say don't flash it. I never flashed that Rom, so I can't say. The Roms I have used and my Knox still 0X0. Currently on FireKat Deodex NC2 KK V19N3/V19N4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2786666 AllianceROM Lollipop v9.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2778933 Note 4 Port Evolution 3.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/development/rom-note-4-port-evolution-1-0-t2982296 Note 4 Port Evolution 3.0 you will have to flash extra things in Safestrap to make it work right.

Got bored so I tried it. Did not trip Knox and I really didn't see a different from AllianceROM Lollipop v9.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2778933 Well, I don't care for it, so back to FireKat! :silly:
Thanks for trying it out and your assistance I did the same on my phone immediately after you did and got the same results. It works great and should be a viable option for those like me that have an AT&T phone, but want to load a T-Mobile based ROM.
I'll be curious if that Alliance ROM though stays up to date with the newer versions of Android (i.e. 5.0.2, etc.) It appears to be based on 5.0.0 from what I can tell. Only reason I ask is because my experience with 5.0 on my old S4 has been awful. Fells like I'm back on Android Gingerbread with 500mb of ROM. :S There are so many memory leaks on my S4 now it stinks. 4.4.4 was way better.
Good news is I haven't seen that same issue thus far with the Alliance ROM, so hopefully is worked out whatever shortcomings the OS had.
Hello, I'm wondering if they've made any advancement on the Samfail root method for the Note 8 AT&T version. I'm finding that I'm running into circumstances where I need to be able to flash a zip. This is still not possible, correct?

Just check the Samfail thread. It's up to v3 for the latest 7.1.1 software we have. It does not root Oreo, but it will downgrade you from it back to 7.1.1 to be able to root.

Thank you, Jammol. I'm actually rooted, but I was out of the loop due awhile and I was wondering if full root had been managed. They finally achieved it on the Note 5 AT&T version, only after I got rid of it. Hoping lightning will strike twice, you know?

Full root as in TWRP and such? We have full root but with a locked bootloader. Flashfire can be used to flash stock roms for the Snapdragon variant. Safestrap was just released for it as well but currently only the "Stock" slot can be used. And yes the 80% battery limit is very much still there.
So I can actually flash custom roms with this lock bootloader on this variant? Also, safestrap will allow me to flash custom roms as well?

To be able to finally do that would make me a happy man. Also, is there any advantage to using Safestrap over Samfail? I used Safestrap with my S5.

Correct, but you can't get to Safestrap without being rooted first, which requires Samfail.

Thanx. I'm Samfail rooted already. Going to install safestrap. Can you direct toward some custom stock roms that might flash? I've had no luck thus far.... And thank you for all the info. If not for you I wouldn't even know Safestrap and flashing was even available.

Currently there are only 2 roms we can flash. FENNEC and Culpeo.
FENNEC is based on the U1 (unlocked firmware), so there's no carrier bloatware.
Culpeo is based on U or carrier firmware. The bloat will come with the CSC you flash for your particular firmware. There are CSC edits in there for things such as VoLTE, Wi-Fi Calling, etc.
These are both based on the latest 7.1.1 version respectively. I have personally ran both but I was partial to FENNEC because I hate carrier bloat.
Both are located on the Development section. There are more roms coming so don't be deterred.

Jammol, I really appreciate your responsiveness and all of the knowledge you've provided. Thanks you!
Jammol, trying to figure out why Safestrap won't take. Busybox up and running. After hitting install it goes thru its paces and says I install successfully, or something similar, but above that where it says State it still reads not installed. I see it with granted access in Su. But when rebooting I do not get the splash screen. Any ideas?

I have the free version of Busy Box installed. Tried installing the pro version in case that would somehow facilitate the installation of Safestrap and the pro version won't install either. The notice suggests I try installing in another location. Not sure how to do that. Can anyone advise me on this and /or how I can get Safestrap to install?

In the Safestrap thread there were a few users that had that issue occur. I don't know what the Fix was for them, if it was fixed, as I haven't followed that development for a few days now. I suggest giving the OP of that thread a full read through again and read through the comments/replies of what others have done so far to solve their issues.
Thanx Jammol. Actually perused that before my last post. Will look again. Hope I missed something, but I dont think so.

No problem. Let me know. There are some bugs with it though so posting Safestrap related questions there would be the best thing to do. I merely fiddled with it for about a day at most and had to return to stock(work reasons).
Thanks, J. Really appreciate your feedback. Will let you know if something gives.
