I purchased an M7 already bootloader unlocked and rooted off ebay. I then flashed an 4.4.2 Sense 5.0 flash from Insetcoin and all was well. Im with THREE UK for my mobile operator and when they upgraded to 4G all was still well. I was getting 4G and all was still well no matter which rom i flashed.
Then i read about this S-OFF business, i thought ok, lets S-OFF this phone as it was S-ON at the time. So i then S-OFF'd the M7 and at the same time i downloaded from XDA an update firmware and radio zip from a thread. I think at the time i was HBOOT 1.44 but i cant be certain and i have no idea what the radio was. Anyhow after that update i lost my 4G, no matter what rom i use, all i get is 3G, HSPA & HSPDA.
Is there anyone able to help me out at all to help me get my 4G back?
thanks.

Sorry, is that the instructions with > *#*#4636#*#* in dialer. Choose the option that says CDMA/EvDo/WCDMA/GSM/LTE auto
Or some other instructions?
Yes. Those instructions of what to do in dialer. Once you type that in dialer, go to phone information and scroll down to where you can change that option. It is under preferred network type.

Ok, done as per instructions. Still showing as 3G/HSPAP.
Only thing is i cant confirm area im in is 4G, even though Three coverage checker says it is. (im at work).
Can confirm it tomorrow morning when i get home where i know for sure 4G was working.
Gut feeling on the fix though is that it will still be the same.
Let me know if you have 4G when you move to a different area. Coverage maps aren't always reliable depending on a host of other factors. We can try flashing a newer or older radio if you are still having issues. Also. You should ask on the ROM thread for Insert Coin whether their is a ROM setting to change network preference settings. I know in some AOSP ROMS there are such settings.

Hi Mark
I went to another area to do my work, away from my office. It too is 4G enabled according to the coverage maps on THREE website. howerver all i got there was as im getting now 3G/HSPAP. I will wait till i finish work and get home and see if 4G flashes up on my screen.
How new/old is my current radio then? As for the Rom, im now using the latest Revolution rom by Mikey.
appreciate your helping me anyway. I have thought about resetting it to stock rom with one of the RUU's, but the confuion of trying to find a H3G RUU is stopping me.

You should definitely try H3G's newest firmware or even just the radio. I noticed a huge improvement with their new firmware. WiFi, mobile signal and data much better.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55431159
Make sure to flash 5.11.771.3.zip here firtst though http://xda7.androidrevolution.org/db_mirror/Firmware/index.php?dir=HTC/HTC_One/771/
You may need to change your cid. Or edit the android info.txt in the firmware.zips to flash them.
Sent from my HTC One M7 - ARHD 81.0 Using Tapatalk
Looks like Danny will get you fixed up. I'd try just the radio first.
Ok so i have been home, and we are still at the 3G/HSPA stage, no 4G.
I will give the Danny solution a try and report back how we get on.
Appreciate all the help.

I've searched the Forum but I'm so over-my-head that I'm not really finding my exact issue and I'm kinda trying things willie nillie which I know is going to leave me with a bricked phone.
I tried following the rooting guide at http://htconeroot.com/htc-one-root/how-to-root-htc-one-windowsmaclinux/ and booted into my Sprint Rom successfully with the SU installed. Then I added the Android Revolution rom and tried to flash it. Since that point I've had boot loop issues.
Android Revolution will boot loop to the bootloader and not even attempt to get into the OS. When I tried installing Viper Rom, I could get to the unlock screen, but when I'd unlock, the screen would display a white page with "htc" on it, then eventually reboot. I then tried to flash the stock Sprint Rom. It will load to the lock screen, but not unlock, and will reboot eventually. Finally, I tried following the instructions here from a similar situation: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2411137. When I go through the first tutorial the [SOLVED] post refers to, I get the error that warning: seek lseek64 failed when I try the second step. I also can't get RUU to work because when I turn my phone off and plug it in, it automatically turns on to the bootloader.
Presently the bootloader reads:
tampered
relocked
security warning
m7_wls pvt ship s-on rh
hboot 1.55.0000

Fastboot and ADB are working for me.
Please, any advice would be appreciated

It looks to me like your not unlocked anymore. Your Bootloader should say Unlocked, not Relocked. I would go through that process again before you do anything else.
EDIT: I found this, and it is great. Very user friendly, and will also help you achieve S-Off. Just follow the steps.

did the following:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
Chose "Yes" to unlock bootloader
Allowed phone to reboot
--Attempts to boot into the rom, but is non-responsive
--Will reboot periodically if left alone
Now in hboot it says *** unlocked ***, does not have the security warning, but still, I can't seem to get the rom to ever boot properly. Also I still can't RUU because the phone won't shut down (and because I'm unlocked again).
Thank you for your help - any other ideas?

Ok, so after some pretty extensive research here is what I have found. First you are on a newer HBOOT version than I am (not sure how this happened was pretty sure I updated, but who knows), so the only way for you to achieve S-Off is using rumrunner. You can find that info at the link below. Do that first, then after that you should be able to complete the rest of the steps in the [SOLVED] forum you found earlier. Fingers crossed this works for you.

Maybe I'm misreading it, but rumrunner requires you to be able to boot into a rom.
Went through the steps in the guide posted as a solution to your second link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2503646) and there's no change in behavior, though my information at the top of hboot now reads as follows:

PM me your google username, and I will chat with you on Hangouts. Maybe we can figure it out that way.
I was speaking with a friend and he thinks that this may have started because I flashed a GSM rom accidentally instead of a Sprint-designed-rom. Also he said my hboot might be the wrong version to go through the fix that MrFixIt and others have posted where you use fastboot to go through the oem recovery to sideload a rom.
Any ideas would be welcome at this point.

Dear community,
i'm writing on behalf of a friend who is owner of a rooted HTC One M7.
He has an issue with not being able to get more than an EDGE connection. WCDMA / HSDPA / 3G is not available at any time.
We tried to change radios/basebands, upgraded to latest 4.4 KitKat Viper, but no success.
The issue is not provider/sim card related, it works fine in other smartphones.
Any ideas ?

NO, nothing of all them. Phone was brand new. It is just when phone set to WDCMA mode. No internet connection + in/out calling not available.
When setting to automode, which turns to EDGE on normal GSM mode, everything fine. No issues.
Potentially corrupted IMEI/EFS/NV data information. Something similiar afflicted S3's a lot, but never heard of it happening on HTC One devices. How did it happen? Same also happened on HTC One S, if you ran the WWE RUU on North american RUUs.
Perhaps a side-effect of wrong MID? What is it?

If the phone is still under warranty, you might want to go in store to get a replacement one. Then if you tampered with the phone maybe you should try to go back to 100% stock and see if this issue persist. Don't know more about this sry.

Just a thought, but can you also check your APN settings, and possibly adjust/add one to them. the APNs the carrier send out automatically might now be the correct ones (that's in my case for example), and i've seen other users also have to change APNs manually to get better speeds and/or LTE.

oh and i just noticed the radio you're using is from US Dev Edition, try a WWE one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419699
the latest seems to be working quite fine.
Thank you all for the help. But we still didn't solve the issue.
What we have done now:
- We s-offed the device.
- We changed the CID to HTC___102
- We flashed an EU radio.
- We ran the latest EU ruu 2.18, after it OTA to 2.19.
At no point we had 3G/H network. Is there any possibility that the 3G modem is broken ? I googled quite a few hours but could nowhere find a similar problem like this.

I already have this problem. Any solution please? I have HTC m7 (AT&T) unlocked. But only have EDGE signal
Hey guys,
I have searched my ass off to find a solution and i just can't seem to find one.
I have spent more then 8 hours in the past couple of days on it and it is just not working.
My htc one m7 has a cid with tmob101 and I don't even have tmobile as a provider.
The *****es branded it after i inserted the my simcard for 1 day till my new contract whent live.
So what is the situation.
As said i have an HTC One M7 black.
It runs android 4.3.3 and has HBOOT 1.55
it has a cid tmob101 as said above
I also unlocked the phone through htc dev.
I have the single latest version of twrp recovery cause the latest doenst let me connect with adb.
Just not showing anywhere.
So I am running version 2.6.3.3
Besides that i'm still running the stock software (no custom rom or anything).
just the out of the box software.
What have o tried:
well everything i can think of.
1. i tried revone although i knew it would not work. (a man can dream right )
2. tried rumrunners through a live cd of ubuntu 12.04
rumrunners at first didn't want to work at all but now when i run it it gets to the point of "Pouring 8 ..........." and then says plays wait 30 seconds and but the phone , pray and try again.
3. then i tried firewater but that one said right from the start that no amount of hacking would do any good.
i changed permissions, ive tried doing everything through windows and linux alike but it just won't work.
Can someone help?
Please let me know what information you might need or want for you to help me.
I just want to get back to international version.
hope you guys can help
Sry, i'm confused.. is your One S-OFF or not?

You can't s-off a phone with a Tmob CID..
And: to connect your one with your pc , just install the universal adb drivers

Ok this guy clearly didn't read your post. Is your cid T-MOB010 or T-MOB101?
You can s-off a phone with T-MOB010 cid, I've done so myself on three different M7s. I've used firewater. Most important thing to remember is to disable your antivirus and your firewall. Don't neglect this step.
Is it really hboot 1.55 or is it 1.56?

Hey guys,
I have searched my ass off to find a solution and i just can't seem to find one.

For either firewater or rumrunner to work, you need a custom kernel. Flash a custom Rom (just go with the older version of Android Revolution HD - Here's V53 which has worked well for me in the past).

You should really look into updating your software, since the m7 is on 4.4.2 officially now
Anyways, flash the oldest radio from here (the initial release one, baseband 1.00.20.0315), and that might fix your issue.

I tried to update OTA but since I have a custom recovery it just reset to recovery and that's it? Can you recommend me a good one for me? Thank You very much for your help

OK, since you have a custom recovery with stock,
a) it's pretty much better to be on a custom ROM since you can update easier.
b) If you want to be on stock, it's best to back everything up and run a RUU.
If you choose option a), flash this recovery, and install a custom ROM such as ViperOne.
If you choose option b), follow the instructions on this thread.
Hi everybody.
I tried many things from the other threads and tutorials but none of them worked for me. And now I am opening this thread so anyone could give me a light on this matter.
I have a HTC One M7 that I bought in Orlando, it was supposed to be the international version of the phone, but when I got to Brazil the phone only works 3G/HSPA or older tecnologies than that.
Reading the forums I found out that I can change the Radio version of it in order to properly work the 4G using Brazils LTE frequency.
At first it was a problem to gain S-OFF on it, since it was HBOOT 1.57 and stuff.
When I finally got S-OFF I proceded to change the Radio.
I download many Radios from different countries of which supposedly should be compatible with Brazils LTE Technology (Here LTE Frequency is 2600Mhz - Making Russia, India, Argentina and a few more countries compatible) and installed all of them.
None of the Radios I installed (via TWRP installer) did any change to the frequency it is using.
Does anyone know how I can really change it? Or if I am doing it right via TWRP installer.
Thanks for the help.

First s-off is not required to flash radio, only an unlocked bootloader. You can't change the frequencies of the M7, are you sure your variant support LTE? Post the output of "fastboot getvar all" (remove your imei and serialno before posting).
As for your "what should I buy next" poll, I would suggest to ask in one of the dedicated thread for that. This is an HTC forum so (almost) everyone here are HTC' fan, everyone will tell you to get the M9

S-off is required to flash and use radios designed for other cid's. Band enablement is possible with some nvram magic IIRC. Search around on xda and there are a few how-to threads.

I always thought that the radio, boot and recovery partitions were not locked with s-on on the M7 unlike some other HTC devices hence why they can be flashed from a custom recovery.

Already read this somewhere too but never seen anyone did it on the M7. Anyway thanks for your comment, will try to find more info about this :good:

You might be right on the bands, now that I search it seems the guides are for m8. That said, it certainly "is" possible, someone would just need to research and document the correct values.

Well I guess you are using windows 8 or windows 10 or your notebook? These windows versions doesn't play nice with hboot 1.44/fastboot.
Anyway I can see from your bootloader info that your model is the M7_U which is equipped with the MSM8215 modem = No LTE radio. You'll only get 3G and HSPA+ with this variant.

Anyhow, regardless the S-On or S-Off I should be able to change the baseband.
When I install a new Radio the bootloader shows that it is another Radio Number.
I am starting to think that it might be ROM related, since it is not possible to select the baseband when I go to *#*#4636#*#*
It only shows Automatic or USA Band.

No its hardware related, the M7_U (unlike the M7_UL) is not equipped with an LTE modem.

Windows 10. Despite it works perfectly smooth and updates all the drivers automaticaly and fast. It lags when connecting something on USB. (at least for my notebook)

Wow! You solved the mistery real quick!
My only doubt is why would they sell a phone saying it is 4G LTE when it isn´t.
Unfortunatly I did not get the chance to test it in USA with a SimCard from a carrier from there.

The M7_U never was announced as an LTE phone from HTC, Its a GSM/HSPA variant
The M7_UL is the GMS/HSPA/LTE variant.

http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.ca/2013/03/htc-one-gsm-or-lte.html
Conclusion:
it won't be possible to switch it on/off in settings just like that. Enabling LTE on such units will be either not possible at all, or it will be possible by flashing M7_UL RUU to S-OFF device.

Flashing a M7_UL RUU will not enables LTE on M7_U, many of us already tried.

Then I think I bought by mistake, thinking it would be all the same!
Does the same happen to the M9?
I know the Iphone 6 works for all regions unlikly the iphone 5.
My mom bought on Iphone 6 in NY and brought it to Brazil and worked perfectly - 2G, 3G and 4G.

Your M7_U not working on LTE in your country isn't a region issue, If you had pick the M7_UL even if it was an European or US version it would have probably worked fine in your country as long as your carriers LTE bands are supported by the phone. M7_U simply doesn't have any LTE modem regardless of the carrier/region the phone will be used on.

I thought it would not work here.
The Iphone 5 bought in USA don´t work LTE here. And thoso bought here works normally.
I tought it would be the same for M7 and changing the Radio would make it work.
But now I understood that the M7_U is not LTE compatible regardless the region.
