How to fix bricked Sony Xperia Z1s C6916 - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

THIS WORKS EVEN IF YOUR PHONE WILL NOT CONNECT TO PC!
If you brick or completely wipe your Sony Xperia Z1s T-Mobile C6916 then follow this guide to get back to stock.
1. download/install/open Sony PC Companion
2. click on Support Zone (Start)
3. click on Phone/Tablet Software Update (Start)
4. on the pop up click repair my phone/tablet
5. select phone and repair and or click next to begin.
(if that doesn't work then get into flashmode by unplugging phone holding power+volume down and plug in and try again)
There you go, just wait and your back to stock!
This worked for me when I completely wiped my phone (would not even begin to boot)
(WARNING) If i remember correctly this will delete all internal data (music, photos)
but if this is your last resort then go for it.
Hope this helps someone as it took me a while to figure this out! lol
Also this is my first post!

This is had been posted many times in many threads for a long time now. Maybe longer than I have been on XDA. Thanks for your input though.

I checked my PC device manager, my phone is now detected as QHUSB_DLOAD and no drivers are installed. I tried to search for its drivers but I found drivers only for TX. Tried installing those but still no luck
Hey darshan has your xperia T revived? I don't know about your problem.. I also read about this on the sony forum. I wish to buy either the T or the TX.. But can they be updated? What have you done now?

Yes I had to send my phone to Germany. Even Sony service center at US did not help me out. They replaced my phone's hardware. It took around 2 months for that ( Luckily I had my old Xperia X10 ). Yes you can update your phone, I had done that before. I will not suggest you to buy Xperia T or TX as they do not provide support for these phones in India.
Is it available in any of the local shops in India?
Yes but you will definitely enjoy the element of uniqueness unlike any phones from other manufacturers :silly:

Of course... But first, you need to charge your phone.
Follow this tutorial, it should bring back your Z to life.
Here you can find the ftf you need.
Just be sure you have the C6603.

I have tried and unfortunatley no success
Everything runs well until when the phone has to be connected to the PC while holding the Vol Down Button.
Then the Device seems to be connected and after a while it deconnects and restart itself and locked at the Sony Logo.
Then the flashtool recongnises it as disconnected
:crying:
Any other test I may perform ?
Thanks for your patience and support

Have you tried restarting your pc and see if it works? Don't open PC Companion or any of the other Sony software.

Does it takes long cause I stayed like 4-5 mins by holding it without seing any progress bar and soon I unpress it the phone restart by itself and back again at the Sony logo.
To switch it off again I have to hold Power + Vol Up and Down during 5-10 sec until it vibes 3 times.
Is it the right process ?
Just fyi, your main cause of this is most likely when you tried restoring the apps.
Do not try to restore them with titanium backup Or cwm if you are moving from one rom to another etc... To avoid any issues like this one.
Backup and restore using whatever the app provides. Their files are usually located internally. ( just drag it to your comp)
Before starting flashtool, hit the arrow icon (where more hidden programs are running) you may find pcc or sus running sometimes after you reboot your computer.
Find the right ftf file, make sure you are using the most updated flashtool.
Good luck man.

Not saying you can't, but why should you have to rehash information they could have found themselves, but I guess this is what xda has become these days.

Ok, here´s the process:
Start flashtool, select the ftf and start the process... Flashtool will say Preparing Files for Flashing. Then, a window will prompt and tell you to put your device in flashmode.
With you phone turned off and unplugged, leave vol down pressed and connect it to pc until the window disappear, that's the moment you release vol down button and flashing process should start.
Add to that I don't know did you do this yet but I'll mention it anyway:
Before you start flashtool
1- go to settings of your device > developers option (enable it) scroll down and check usb debugging.
2- not sure if you need to do this but might as well cause I do it all the time. Phone settings > security > check unknown sources.
Go ahead and start flashtool and follow the instructions before this post

Thanks a lot for your support :good:
By not being alone I kept the head out of the water and finally succeed.
To make it short, it seems that the FTF file was a kind of corrupted (unable to check the MD5 Sum cause not provided), nevertheless I download another FTF file from another country (I selected UK as I can easely read UK than others languages) then on the second attempt it finally went well.
I do not know the effect of flashing another country Stock firmware yet, but I think as for the cooked rom it does not creates big issues.
Thanks again to supporting me on this tricky situation.
And as promoised after this answer, I will write down what I have performed.

Thanks for your answer, As I was blocked on the start of the phone, it was not possibe at the time being to change the settings (perhaps I were Lucky cause these settings were as you proposed before my issue happened).

[Q][XT]Error when updating over the air

So frustrating, but when I tried to update my phone to 4.3 the phone gets to the 2nd dot stops and then restarts with the message 'could not install new software version. Try again'
Has anyone had this problem, and found a solution? It happens everytime I try, updating via the computer via both PCC and flashtool isn't an option because my phone does not respond in flashmode!
also bootloader is locked and no longer rooted
thanks

The problem I am having is updating over the air.. as I said I cannot update using flashtool or PCC because the usb port seems to be faulty
You said that your phone didn't respond in flashmode. How do you charge your phone if the USB port is faulty? Driver problems seems much more likely to me.
Anyway, did you unlock your bootloader or installed a custom ROM/recovery?

Like I've said I haven't messed with the phone at all, with the exception of rooting it.
I also assumed it was drivers but after spending ages playing around with various computers it still wont respond. I also think it's faulty because if I try and charge it using the wall charger when it is switched off, nothing happens whereas it should boot up? The USB port functions perfectly fine when the phone is on
thanks

Flash your phone using FlashTool method. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658952
Be sure to install fastboot and flashmode drivers first.
1. Be sure you have 50% battery life.
2. Turn off phone.
3. Download Sony Ericson Update Service program.
4. Install it.
5.Start Program and search for reinstall phone.
6. Choose your device from list.
7. Follow instructions.
Your phone will again work perfect with Stock rom! (Without root!)
Good Luck

Did you install Xperia SP specific driver? I assumed you already did, coz you wrote about rooting procedure, but if you didn't, install it the same way you did flashmode and fastboot drivers. Look for "Viskan" in drivers list. After that, try Flashtool again and flash the whole firmware, not just kernel.
we have the same problem may be we should make a UNBRICK thread for xperia sp.
you can use zeus driver to replace qhsusb dload driver
download s1tool from the_laser setool
can someone give us link for a flashfile for xperia sp in semc package? not ftf file

Crap, it looks like it's dead. If you haven't mess up with screws they should fix it. In the worst scenario they have to inform you about costs and ask whether you want them to fix it.
JTAG can be used as well, but it's not cheap.

Not really. If it's dead the first guess will be motherboard. And they will replace it with an internal memory. So FXP or not, they should fix it.

Use Sony pc companion.
Follow the steps in the repair section. That should fix it.... You prolly flashed via flashtool without enabling unknown sources and maybe without USB debugging.

This has happened to me a few times. I've had a couple of failed flashes. Just reflash and it's usually ok. I think the Sony drivers are a little flaky.

If you're using the firmwares from this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z4/general/ftf-stock-rom-e6553-sov31-402so-03g-t3136161) then you use should the version of flashtool in that Google Drive folder (0.9.18.6). Using the newer 0.9.19.1 gave me the same stuck on modem.sin problems.
