Download Appbak from the Play Store. The app detects .bak files and restores it.

This is not a rom.
Hello patskishan,
Just found a way to use Restore feature in Xiaomi.
No need of third party apps or anything.
Use local backup feature as u have used normally. Now you will find that file in MIUI folder, find this folder in both Internal Storage and in SD card (if you have inserted SD card). If SD card used than file will be in MIUI>backup>AllBackup , and if no SD card then the file will be saved in MIUI internal storage (directoty will be same)
((i suggest if u use SD card then also search in both storages in internal as well as SD card, it can go anywhere but generally SD card if used))
Now, alongwith your .bak file you will be seeing a .xml file⬅This xml file is of huge importance. Copy this also with your .bak file.
When you create a local backup the last folder in which the file is saved, is a folder named after date on which you performed this backup action.
For safety purpose copy the folder as it is i.e. don't change the name of folder having name as date, after copying save it where ever u want (if in Internal, move to anywhere in SD or in computer/ & if already in SD then no problem)
Now take a new Mi phone (or perform format on your old phone depending on your situation),
Now after formatting, go in MIUI folder (either in Internal or SD card ((if used)) ), paste your backup files in MIUI>backup>AllBackup. Now open Local backup feature.
As u open u will be able to see app data files with some MB's. Click that/those file(s). As you click it, a a new page will open with Restore option.
Thanx.

Is there a way to backup everything before upgrade the rom so I dont have to reload all apps and settings?
Spb Backup?
is there a crack for it
Don't !!!
When I used a backup manager, I totally messed up my ROM.
I didn't pass it's bootscreen anymore, and ended up bringing it to a store to restore the ROM, because I couldn't syns it anymore with ActiveSync.
Just manually back up your files and settings!
RE
So what are the steps to manually backup settings, & voice speed dial
You can backup your voice tag database between hard resets by copying the file CommandModel1.bin found under the windows folder to your pc or to the memory card. After rom upgrade copy it back to your windows folder and all your voice tags are back!
Create backup of windows\start menu - most programs that are on the storage card dont need a reinstall.
Create copy of pim.vol in the root directory of the device - contains contact and appt information.
Create backup of windows\favorites - for all your internet favorites.
That will make restore a bit quicker than otherwise.
re
Thank you
so the pim.vol is where the contacts are stored? nice..
would it be smarter to copy to sim card ?
I tried copying the pim.vol but it tells me that the file is in use? how do i back it up?

You have to use total commander or gsfinder (must haves and both free, i prefer gsfinder) on the device to do it. When you reset you have to rename pim.vol to say pim.vo and them copy and paste it from your storage card.

The problem wasn't so much that you tried to restore a backup, the problem was that you tried to restore a FULL backup. If you had used a backup manager that allowed custom restorations from the backup file then you would've been able to restore just the files without also restoring the registry keys and settings which is probably what killed your phone.

When you backup by Titanium you have *.tar.gz and *.properties files.
Those files should be in /sdcard/TitaniumBackup folder.
i did put them and i didn't see something new in titanium
What phone do you pick so i can make a back up .. the lg revolution isnt on there?? Does the other lg phone on the list work the same??
Rom Manager doesn't work with the revo as far as I know
O ok ... well thanks for the fast reply lol good thing i didnt buy it i woulda been mad ha
So should i just use titanium back up?? Is that good?
I only use ROM Toolbox. I will defer to others who have used Titanium on that question.
I use the app manager in ROM Toolbox to backup apps.
Is the only way to make a complete system/rom backup in cwm ?? And if so were does it save so i can delete old ones and keep them fresh back ups
What exactly are you trying to do?
I want to make a backup that i can find thru a file manager so i can save it to my laptop for back up ... but i dont wana jus back up an app or two i need everything a complete system backup
Cwm will do that. My backups are saved to my sd card.
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
I'll also confirm that CWM is best for a full backup image. I use Titanium Backup to backup my data and apps. It works great for that purpose.

I ment folder not file sorry ...
What folder are the back ups saved in . And are you able to rename them? So its not just the date and time?
I have not tried it, but you should be able to rename the folder with Root Explorer. They save in the following location:
/mnt/sdcard/ExternalSD/clockworkmod/backup

I have a folder "clockworkmod" on my sd that my backups are saved to.
So when I open the "external sd" through a file explorer, "clockworkmod" is a folder with my backups in there. From there I hookup to my pc and transfer what I want saved.

I found the folder ... i jus need to understand the date format lol
After making a (failed) nandroid backup through PhilZ CWM Touch 3 (latest, based on 6.0.1.5 if I'm not wrong), I saw into my "clockworkmod" folder
a folder named "µAA" and its weight is aroung 72GB. That's obviously not possible since my SDcard has 16GB of max capability.
The problem is: I can't delete this folder.
Any way to solve this? It's annoying me really much because I can't take photos or videos, and also I can't open the gallery.
Onnect your phone to pc and delete it from the pc
It it doesnt work, then copy all the useful data to pc and then format sdcard

Connect to PC & copy only the necessary files like photos, videos, data etc..then format the Ext memory card..I think this is the only option, since you are unable to delete it..I had this same issue in my previous phone's memory card..

So I've been able to backup and restore nandroids using CWM but when i'm looking for the actual backups using a file explorer (es file explorer) as well as mounting usb storage on Windows, i can't seem to find the backups to delete them. These backups are taking up memory! to my understanding, they should be under clockworkmod/backups but the folder is empty. Any ideas?
Look for clockwork mod folder sometimes these bootleg roms run in a file called 0 (virtual sd card)on your internal sd card, try looking there as well.

You wouldn't mind putting what you have to say under the quoted text? Just makes it difficult to read posts where you quote people cause the flow reverses for a second... also reminds me of Jeopardy -- Answer followed by the Question .

You can always backup what's important on your internal sd and format it...that'll do the trick.
CWM Hides the Backups... Try Rom Manager
Rom Manager Premium is a big help for this issue. I had the same problem, not being able to find the backup. According to Rom Manager Premium (same developer as CWM backup):
"In Android 4.2 backups are placed in secure directory, inaccessible to other apps. Backups can be pulled with adb or by using the Rom Manager Backup Download Server."
The download server is a feature you can only get through Rom Manager. I haven't figured out how to make it work yet, so the plan is to simply reboot into CWM recovery and choose to backup directly to the external SD card. After that, I'm going to upload to Dropbox and erase the local file on the SD card.
Rom Manager is also good for deleting backups that you've made, and which take up space, but which you can't find on your internal SD card.
