Hello XDA users,
Today I tried to update my Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 through Samsung Kies and it's failed to update. So I follwoing the procedure on screen (To disconnect the USB, Take out the Battery and Reboot). Now my phone will not get past an error screen (Looks like a Phone -> Error Triangle -> Computer symbol) and I have no idea how to get it fixed.
I have been hearing something about flashing using ODIN but I am a complete newbie with this sort of thing. So ALL help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!

Hey, ok first thing is you have to cheak if your phone can go into download mode. You do this by holding the volume down button, the home key and the power button at the same time.
Dude, follow this link and instructions and get your phone back with ease.

I'm not sure but this looks like a Custom ROM to me, I was hoping to get it back to Official Firmware if possible? I'm probably wrong here though.
So go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9000&r=-1#modelsa and download your disired firmware
Google Odin 1.8 and download it, then Google gingerbread (the version u were using) download xda. Follow the link, download the files then Google how to flash (version number) using Odin the android soul and follow there guide

There is no 3 buttons combo that can factory reset your phone, press vol. Down + home +power button, you will enter to the download mode"here you can flash rooms using PC Odin", download PC odinb from the development section, and flash stock rom in .tar format, then you can root and flash a recovery where you can flash custom rooms. But read the guides in the dev. Section about using PC Odin before any thing

I am looking for some serious help, I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 4G LTE (SGH-i957) through the instructions that I found on this site by first installing Clockworkmode Recovery and then installing Jelly Bean 4.1.1 using Odin. Everything seemed to work fine with this, but then I decided to go one step further and load a over clocking kernel via Odin to increase my Processing speed. This process went fine through Odin and then after the auto reboot it all fell apart... the tablet will now only periodically display the first and second samsung logos and then just go blank or will display the battery icon with power off and plugged into the PC. Either way I have been unable to access the Boot screen or the Download screen...
IS THERE A FIX TO THIS? or am I just finished?
I have tried the "One Click Unbrick" program with no results and Odin intermittently recognizes the device is connected to the PC as the Tablet cycles through what appears to be an 1 second long boot up attempt.
Looking for someones brilliant idea haha...
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!
Wrong section, but here goes. I'm no expert but Samsung devices are notoriously hard to eff up beyond fixing.
Can you get back into your recovery? I would do that, do all your normal wipes and reinstall a rom with its stock kernel.
If that doesn't work well then, I'd say Odin back to stock. If it's just a soft brick fixing it shouldn't be a problem.
Of course someone else who knows what they are doing could chime in here lol.

You flashed a hc kernel on a 4.x system. This is a gaurenteed soft brick. Just odin back to stock through download mode.

I would love to do exactly what your suggesting but I am so far unable to access the download mode using the pwr and vol keys as normal... also where can I get a stock kernel as I was looking for one for hours yesterday with no luck? Do you have any suggestions on how to re-access the download mode in my current situation. Thank you for you suggestions thus far!
If you have a complete TWRP backup from before you flashed the OC kernel, just reboot into recovery and restore boot. That'll replace the HC kernel with what you were running before. That'll save you the effort of going through the entire process again to get back to JB.

Thank you for your advice and at the current time I am unable to access the recovery/boot/download screens... if I could get to that then we are back in business... I am looking for suggestions on how to regain access to that area first and then I would like to follow the advice for you all from there the stock kernel direction first...

Thank you for your response, so far Odin only picks up the device for a second before it disappears again and keeps repeating the cycle over and over agian. It is as if the Tablet keeps attempting a reboot cycle but fails to initialize the booting process? I don't know if I am making any sense to all of you that are much smarter than I at the stuff.
I am trying to time the start of Odin to the point that when it connects to the device that it is also recognizing the device at the same time... Kinda poking in the dark here as I am out of solutions...
The tablet attempts a reboot every 45 SECS and it recognized for only 3 SECS... Thoughts??
You need to get it to stop rebooting and into download or recovery mode. Try every button combo possible. If you hold power down for ten seconds it should shut off
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Hold down the volume button near the power button as it boots to get into download mode... the other volume button will take you to recovery.

I have tried every key combination possible with no results the only thing the tablet does is do a quick single vibrate just like it does when you power it on and it boots up just without the actual booting process... and when the tablet is plugged into the PC it displays the battery symbol with the star bright icon over it like its thinking about charging but to my knowledge does nothing beyond that as far as charging is concerned. But it does do the single vibrate once every 45 secs as if it was booting up and is recognized on the PC through Odin for only 3 secs... not sure where to go from here now??
Hold the volume buttons down don't just press them. Also try button combos but instead of hitting power plug your charger in and out to get it to reboot.

If Odin doesn't recognize it and it doesn't turn on it's dead.
Help please. After trying to reflush my old firmware with Odin, it got as far as OSM -All threads Completed, (successful /0 ,Failed /0)
It got stuck in there so I had to remove the battery and try again but it just keeps doing the same thing. After disconnecting from the computer
all I have now is three small icons on the screen: one tiny phone, a triangle with exclamation mark and a computer. I downloaded Odin and the correct firmware from this site, so what has gone wrong and how do I proceed?
Many thanks

Hi,
Thanks for that.
After several trials, I did manage to get back in download mode and managed to flash the installed Firmware 2.3.6 without any problem.
After resetting, everything seemed to be working fine. However, I left it turned off overnight, switched it back on again this morning but
nothing has changed. My original problem was that on switch on, it takes ages for the phone to activate. I get the welcoming screen
that goes away, comes back for anything up to 5 minutes until it eventually goes on to full screen and everything works well.
So what is causing this problem and what else can I do
Today my mobile screen went blank. The battery was at 50% at the time. Upon start up the SAMSUNG logo is displayed, and is flashing (as it does) but nothing else is working. I took the battery out to turn it off. Replaced the battery and the same thing happened again. The flashing SAMSUNG continues, no further boot up. I have had this phone for over 1.5yrs now, this is the first problem I have had with it. Thanks in advance for any helpful answers.

Thanks, I will try and let you know.
It is official, the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 is kaput. No saving it. Apparently this is very common. They just cease to work. 'flashing' it did not work, a new battery did not get it working.. it is now a door stop. I will not be purchasing another Samsung phone again.
Not give up so easily. In your first post you wrote that you saw the Samsung logo. So it isn't dead.
Try to start with download mode or recovery (3-button-combos).
Can you boot into one of them?

Press and hold Vol up, home and power key until you see the samsung logo. That's called recovery mode, can you enter this?
The other mode you mention is download mode. If you can enter download mode you're fine, the phone is not broken. Never trust repair shop guys, most of them come direct to this site and cannot follow instructions.

Ok, that video is going into recovery mode, but it looks as though it's throwing up some read errors and not able to apply csc. Basically your kernel is hosed.
But you can get into download mode so it doesn't matter anyway.
The thing is you'll likely lose all your data as you don't know what rom you were originally on. You'll need to go to Dr Ketan's thread in original android development forum in the stickies, and download any stock rom of your choice and then flash with pc odin with the phone in download mode. Don't worry if this doesn't make sense at the moment, take a long time and read Dr k's thread before you post anything further.
