I just received my Nexus One which I ordered through the Google Developer program (Brightstarcorp) and I'm not able to get it working with the Bell Mobility network for either voice or data
I have a signal bars on my N1 with a Bell Mobility SIM card but it dosen’t works.
When I slide down the notification bar it say "Bell" and try this to get it working.
I have tried all solutions and have the recommended settings on the phone (also running Froyo 2.2.1-Build number : FRG83).
- I tried my SIM to another Bell phone and it works.
- I tried another Bell SIM in my N1 and it did not work.
- I'm using an active data plan card not a prepaid card.
But it works with Rogers or Fido
I tried the following :
1.Go to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators: after about 1 minute I see network the currently available Bell
I click on Bell and see a signal not working.
2. Go to the dialer and type in *#*#4636#*#* this bring a hidden menu
3. tap on "Phone Information" It list the current network as Bell and also showing the IMEI and the Phone number. The IMEI and phone number are correct.
4. Hit the menu button and press "Select radio band" and click on "Automatic" .
5. Still not working I make sure radio band is set to "Automatic" then go back to the previous screen and scroll all the way to the bottom. Click under "set preferred network type" and choose through until I find one that works 1. WCDMA preffered or WCDMA only or GSM auto (PRL) it takes a few seconds from the time I click until the settings take place, just watch the signal bar at the top of the screen until it changes. Even try the "unknown" network type at the bottom of the list if the others don't work.
All the above fails.
For those of you out there who have successfully activated the Nexus One on the Bell network could you let me know which version of the phone you have.
Thanks for your suggestions.
well i am sorry to say but i dont think that the phone will work with Bell. the dev phones as far as i know are all AWS. so the only way it is going to work is if you get a rogers sim and use it on edge or a wind/moblicity sim and you can use 3G. bell does not have an edge network to back up on.
That's true. Bell/Telus has only the 3g network. The developer phone will not work. It will use edge/2g on Rogers/Fido. And will be fully supported on Wind or Mobilicity.
Nexus One with a Bell Mobility it dosen’t works!!
About Videotron?
Thanks
Hi All,
I've been messing around with my phone and accessed the *#*#4636#*#* settings thru the dialer. Any one know what the following does?
Testing-->Phone Information
Scroll about half way down there's a popup menu that lets you select a whole bunch of different network types. ie WCDMA, GSM, CDMA, etc.
Does this mean if I take my Sprint phone to Europe or Asian I could use their networks without flashing a new radio?
Thanks,
Ken
This code is used for accessing Service menu of your device.
And you cant use different networks without flashing radio
Even flashing a new radio wont get you new frequencies it seems...

What the network type selection allows you to do it turn off network grades (ie, 2G/3G/LTE)
For example, I turned off my LTE as I don't need that speed and the coverage is spotty. So, in doing so I end up saving battery life bc my phone will only search for 2G/3G networks and wont flip btwn 3G and LTE all the time.
If you want to use your phone on a different carrier in a different country, you'll need to have your SIM unlocked and possibly have flashed the radios required. This should be all there is too it, but I could be wrong.
As it is, if your phone is not the dev. version, your phone will be locked to Sprint, so your phone will not connect to networks that are not Sprint.
Please help I'm in same situation and have no service issue after messing with that setting menu, i have mobilink jazz sim card and xt1526 sprint

Hello, I'm in singapore and when i keyed in *#*#4636#*#* , went into phone info and then clicked on setting button(the 3 dots), and selected usa band for radio band, I cannot receive any signal anymore.
Can I do anything to change it back?
Yes you can do the same dialing to get to that menu to change back to the proper bands... Change to GSM/LTE...
Greetings, im sure this is a common issue that ive seen, i received a HTC One M7 Sprint, it is sim unlocked BUT... can't select GSM/UMTS mode, it reverts to last used mode (if lte/cdma was selected and I choose gsm/umts, it reverts to lte/cdma...)
Is a NV problem, or radio problem? can be corrected?
Thanks a lot!

I've seen problems like this as well.. try flashing a custom Sense ROM and see if that solves your problem.

You have to override the network connection, assuming you are "sim-unlocked"
open the dial pad type *#*#4636*#*#
Tap "Phone Information"
scroll down to "Set preferred network Type:" & select one of the GSM options from the drop down menu
Check the GSM Service is "In Service"; if not repeat the last step and select another option
Goto Settings > Mobile Data> select GSM
Goto Available GSM Networks, it will attempt to connect and probably fail to find service providers, you can keep trying manually or select "don't ask again" and redo -GSM network provider will eventually popup
select the GSM network
goto Access Point names
edit access point to carrier
Doing the last parts from memory since I've removed my GSM SIM (Family Mobile) and GSM stuff won't show up on my settings
recently i have done with that. Im currently looking if it can be done with HTC Desire 816 (to convert to gsm, since it carries with cdma system). Maybe can be done, maybe not
