Hi,
I have done some searching on the forums and found related questions to this, but no answer that fixes my problem.
I have been using a Samsung Ativ S T899M for about 2 years now, originally a phone from Rogers Canada that my work bought, imported into the US on AT&T through Expansys. I actually live in Canada though and use it on Rogers.
We bought these phones with WinPho 8.0 on them, and configured them originally to use the APN WAP.CINGULAR and they connected just fine to Rogers Network, showing 3G, 4G and LTE connectivity for the last 2 years. When I go to the US for work, I switch it to 'Automatic' network connection and I get connectivity just fine. Even through various updates to Windows Phone 8.1, including the Developer Preview.
I recently reset my phone due to formatting issues with an SD card, and reset everything, restoring from a backup:
OS Version: 8.10.14176.243
FW Rev: 2212.12.11.2
HW Rev: 15.3.1.0
Radio Software ver: <blank?>
Radio Hardware ver: <blank?>
I reset the phone, and only 3 days later was I prompted to update to the above versions, although I checked for updates shortly after the reset.
Now to the problem: I no longer see LTE as a connectivity option when connecting to Rogers Network, AND I don't have Internet connectivity, even when choosing 4G. (I realize this might be 2 diff problems)
In the Settings --> 'Cellular+SIM' --> 'SIM' menu, I see only 2G, 3G and 4G in the highest connection speed..no LTE as there was before.
When I search for networks, I see Rogers at 2G, 3G and 4G, no LTE.
I have the APN set to WAP.CINGULAR and have also tried fast.t-mobile.com as advised in some other forum posts, with no luck.
I have the diagnostics app installed (*#634#) and have dialed into the Test Mode menu using *#0011# and tried to follow the codes to get to the UTMS mode menu, but it does not work. Tapping Back twice does nothing whatsoever.
Does anyone have a similar experience? Am I missing the Radio drivers I need? How do I correct this?
Any help / advice / tests are appreciated.
I have this phone as well. Its unlocked from Bell Canada. I made the same mistake and upgraded it to 8.1 DP, I since bought a Nokia Lumia 635 that I use as my daily driver, as there are soo many bugs with the T899M now using the 8.1DP. When I was using it I noticed that missing LTE from the settings as well, but every now and then my phone would tell me I was connected to LTE in the status bar.
I really wish there was a way to restore this phone back to the original factory firmware 8.0....well I'm sure there is, but for some reason there simply is no ROM online to do so. Very unfortunate for us T899M owners who did the 8.1 DP update.
The missing radio HW & SW lines are because Samsung needs to update the firmware, some of the hardware is missing proprietary drivers (radios/camera, etc), unfortunately everytime I contact Samsung they tell me the same thing. "You cannot downgrade, it is not possible. We will let you know when an update is available".....basically the're no help.
Alls we can do is wait....one day it maybe updated...who knows when though...apparently not Samsung.
4G is LTE. I set my highest setting to 4G and in the top corner it shows LTE. 8.1 DP latest

Hi:
Searched the threads but didn't find a solution to my problem.
I have two identical Galaxy S i9000T phones with the same firmware. Both were working fine but I performed a factory data reset to one of them in order to remove the primary sync account. This reset was performed via the privacy menu, NOT the CWM 3-button combo. After that, I LOST my carrier's signal. I can see other carriers while doing a network operator search, but NOT my specific carrier. I must add that sometimes I was able to get signal from my carrier and even make calls and use 3G internet, but most of the time I was getting a "No signal.." or similar message
Now the facts:
Phone model: Galaxy i9000T
Carrier: Claro Puerto Rico
Firmware: Rooted Android 2.3.3 PDA:XWJVB Phone:XXJVK CSC:XEE_JV3 Remember the other phone is working fine with this same fw
Operator's Detected: ATT, T-Mobile
Can't make phone calls, not use internet. Wi-Fi is fully functional
Tried the following:
Reset with CWM by 3 button combo - Not worked
Re-install ROM - Not worked
*#2263# to select carriers frequency - Not worked
Installed a XXJPU modem - Not worked (stopped seeing carrier at all after this)
Compared most of the internal settings with the *#*#197328640#*#* between both phones - Didn't Worked
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.
Thanks!!!
Enter settings for network manually .

Thanks!!! I know how to configure the APN settings. Don't have a clue of how to configure network settings manually. I'm searching this forum but got so many results it will take me a while to find this info.
Could you provide a quick answer or point me to a thread?
Ask network for settings enter via settings wireless and network mobile networks .

Ohh. That was it. Tried that, didn't worked either. If I try searching for network operators, it only detects T-Mobile and AT&T, not Claro. That's why I suspect is something modem or frequency related. Also when checking with *#0011#, it's always fixed at WDCMA 1900 while the working phone has it at WDCMA 850. No matter what I change it remains locked at 1900.
Thanks for your support and patience with me.
I bought nexus one from my friend.
I am currently using HD2 with 3g data.
When I plugged in my sim card to the n1, it only worked with edge.
So, I seared internet for some information and I found out something about "*#*#6436#*#*" and change the setting to WCDMA only. Then the phone got no signal at all, so I changed back to WCDMA preferred. Then I did ping test but it did not seem to work very well.
Then I played with some APN setting and I realized that I lost data connection completely (phone still working)
I have tried to reset the phone but no luck.
Can anyone please help me with the problem? I am using T-mobile.
Thank you.
Pull your battery, and look at the back of your phone. At the top of the dark area there are numbers, look at the PB or FCC ID numbers. If they end in 9110 then you have an AT&T version of the phone, and the hardware will not work with T-Mobile's 3G service...

are you in the USA? you need to list your location. it is likely that you purchased the wrong version of the nexus one. there is an ATT version and a tmobile version. each only works with the proper 3G. so an ATT n1 on tmobile only gets edge, and vice versa. check which version you own.
Greetings folks. I own a Nexus 6 XT1103 Unlocked. I'm on MetroPCS currently (piggybacks off T-Mobile LTE).
On Android 6.0.1 ROMs the device connects to LTE networks with no issue whatsoever. The real issue arises when I flash an Android 7.x ROM. The device connects to 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) and remains there even though the network setting is on LTE.
The phone momentarily connects to LTE when I reset the radio from LTE Discovery app and then reverts to 3G (the LTE signal detected just drops off to N/A). Also when the device is momentarily connected to LTE, the carrier label changes to 'No Service' even though network is available and LTE data works for those few moments. After those few moments it's back to UMTS and the carrier label returns to 'MetroPCS'
I've tried the following things to fix this (all in vain)
1. Flashed different radios (05.32, 05.34, 05.42) and bootloaders
2. Flash Android N stock image and then flash custom 7.x ROM
3. Go to the *#*#4636#*#* menu and set LTE only.
4. Resetting APN to default and manually adding APNs (both MetroPCS and T-Mobile)
I know the LTE network in the area is fine otherwise and anyway the moment I'm back on MM the issue the device connects to LTE properly (with a valid MetroPCS carrier label). This issue occurs on any Android 7.x ROM but it didn't happen as often in the Dev Preview, if I remember right.
I request all of you folks to help out if you've seen something like this or have any solutions. Cheers.
PS: Google Connectivity Services installed/uninstalled/disabled doesn't fix it
Have you tried a network settings reset? This worked for me when I lost LTE connectivity.
Settings>Backup & reset>Network settings reset.
Make sure you select network settings reset and not factory reset. They're right next to each other, so if your finger slips and you select the wrong one you'll be very unhappy.
Fixed it!! Flashing the 05.39 radio on fastboot before flashing the ROM seems to do it. Now LTE works with the proper carrier label too. I'd forgotten about the 05.39 radio as it was the one bundled with the N Dev Previews.
Cheers!
Hi All,
Disclaimer: Newbie.
During December I updated my N920I via OTA. Since this update my phone constantly has network drop outs, no 3G or 4G. If I force 2G it will sometimes work albeit very slowly.
Steps taken:
Simcard Replacement
Factory Reset
Manual Flash (N920IDVU3BPL2) via Odin
Prior to this update the phone was working fine with build N920IDVU3BPJ3.
I downloaded the N920IDVU3BPJ3 Optus specific image from Sammobile and tried deploying it using Odin however I received the "SYSTEM REV CHECK FAIL DEVICE 1 BINARY 0" error. From what I have read it means that I have a locked bootloader?
I have been advised by Samsung that I am unable to downgrade? (I assume you can if you trip Knox)
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I haven't had a properly working phone since Boxing day
Thanks heaps
4g/LTE not working on N920I
Same here:
LTE was working fine on my N920I out of the box, but suddenly I observed that its only connecting 3G or 2G but not 4G. I thought that it may be custom rom issue.
I have installed Australia fimware through Samsung Kies. But it did not work.
Now I have manually installed Singapore firmware through ODIN
I have cleared internal storage and factory reset the phone
Upon forcing 4G only mode, the phone does not get signals and gets hot
I have tried inserting my sim to S7 and it quickly got connected to 4G, but 3G does not get connected to my phone
I have also contacted my carrier and they say everything is working fine
I have checked APN settings with carrier as well
I dont know what to do. Does this mean that my phone has some modem hardware issue which has broken modem due to overheat or bad code or something.

Not possible since the S7 worked! Sounds like you need a new SIM card that's all.. Or you can try changing the settings again by going to Settings>Mobile Network>Network Mode and see what it's on..

I have changed Network Mode to 2G only, 3G only, 3g/2G (auto connect), LTE/3G/2G (auto connect) modes one by one after your suggestion but phone is only working on 2G and 3G not LTE.
Earlier I was having N920IDVU2BPG3_N920IXSA2BPG3_N920IDVU2BPG3_HOME.tar firmware but now since I have installed the latest N920IDVU3BPL2_N920IXSA3BPL2_N920IDVU3BPL2_HOME.tar so now I cannot go back to N920IDVU2BPG3 anymore and I get error:
sw rev check fail device 3 binary 2 in odin.
Does this has anything to do with firmware or my Modem chip is faulty due to overheat or anything?

Hello,
same thing happened with my 9208 duos...
it happened some 3 weeks ago and only happened after my phone downloaded some updates..
carrier, sim all is good... issue is with phone software... and forcing it on lte only ends up having no signals..
Biggest prob is that it aint allowing to downgrade to another firmware with odin even...
ps. i dont think overheating of modem would restrict us to H & H+... if it was fried i guess there wont be any data at all...
if you are able to find a solution dont forget to let me know...
thanks

Hello, I''''ve a Galaxy Note5 N920I which wasn''''t bought from Saudi Arabia. My phone doesn''''t connect to 4G at all and at best even if it connects to 3G the connection is pretty much slow, even the Dial-Up calls are not stable and _quotlaggy_quot. I''''ve noticed that whenever I change the data connection to 4G network the device gets considerably hot at the power button side. All of this happened suddenly without any prompt about 3 days ago... I''''ve already tried changing the SIM card and testing it on other mobiles and the SIM worked just fine, also tried to change the APN and network settings but nothing worked. I am really concerned about the idea that the device might explode at any moment.
I have the same problem, my device N920I which I didn't buy from Saudi Arabia but I live there. Samsung S.A didn't help me out but rather than that they told me to contact with Samsung's branch in the country I bought the device from.
At the current situation, I have no choice other than waiting the device to explode maybe.
I regret that I didn't choose Apple's iPhone actually, as they would help me out without such irresponsibility.
Anyway, I am waiting for your assistance.
Any updates on this issue its getting worse day by day! Its summer here and i cant even touch my phone its becoming so hot.
My S6 Edge SM-G925V worked perfectly back in India on Vodafone Band 3 LTE until marshmallow update. In the Nougat update verizon/samsung has some issue with their cellular firmware - after that i am never able to camp to any LTE network.
It was running smooth until the G925VVZW4CPD2 (6.0.1) update, all settings are ok. I tried the other popular network sim of JIO ( Band 40) that also is same. Bigger problem is that the modem crashes far too many times on the 2g/3G also. I can see the networks bar go and come in a loop again and again, making phone useless.
Verizon surely has messed something up with the latest 7.0 update, which they deny (have contacted them). There are couple of forums in Sammobile on the same. No luck with solution.
Just yesterday got one more update of 2GB which brings it to one update over 7.0. No luck. Still no LTE camping.
Do not suggest to check the APN settings i have checked they good. Anythings else or you also facing same issue ?
Can anyone show how to get the blocked service menu (via codes) working ?
Got the same problem. I immediately updated my phone from Marshmallow to Nougat via system settings.
I got the S6 Edge Verizon. Made several readings and found out that the device is unlocked, so I bought a local LTE SIM card (SMART) here in the Philippines and inserted it to the device. I applied the appropriate APN settings for the LTE and tested the connection. No luck. I wasn't able to test the LTE connectivity when I was in Marshmallow though.
I was able to connect to the internet via 3G connection and IT WAS WAAAY TO SLOW (0.5 mbps)
I tested the same settings with the Galaxy S5 (Verizon), still with a local LTE SIM card (SMART). LTE connection was immediately established (15+ mbps... not bad). This proves that my area is covered by LTE and the problem is on the S6 Edge. Is there a way to fix this?

I have the same problem, since the update I can't connect to LTE, I've tried forcing the 4g/lte network but it simply wont connect.
so no answer to this yet huh? issue with wifes phone so i cant call her during the day but text are still getting through thank god!
I installed the new update via the smartswitch. Sw ver: NRD90M.G925VVRU4DQF3
This also did not solve the LTE camping issue on international roaming as stated in original thread, infact the modem crashes so often on 2G/3G also (GSM/UMTS)
Anyone here from verizon/samsung who can pass on the message to relevant folks that there is a major issue which they have not addressed. I am surprised such a common bug was not tested before releasing offical binary for update !! #shame.
Any updates?

Any updates on a solution for this? I finally got around to updating my G925V OTA with Verizon, and I've run into the same issue. I hope I don't have to roll back the update manually but I guess I might have to because I have searched for a solution everywhere and have tried everything but nothing works.
Exact same issue, modem crashes constantly (I'll have signal on H/H+ only, and then it drops. Signal comes back. Then drops), and I never get LTE.
Tried all the obvious solutions (e.g. reboot, factory reset, network reset, clear cache partition, boot into safe mode, reprovisioning from carrier, confiming IMEI with carrier etc.) but nothing works.
What did you guys figure out?
