Hi,
I know this question has been asked many times before but I haven't been able to find a solution that works and I don't want to try anything that could make the situation worse.
I had rooted my HTC One M7 but now I want to unroot it so I followed the below steps taken from the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823
1. Re-lock your bootloader (this will most probably wipe content of your device)
2. Copy downloaded .zip to fastboot.exe location (e.g. c:/SDK/platform-tools/fastboot.exe)
3. Re-name .zip file to firmware.zip
4. Open command prompt
5. Boot your device in fastboot mode (vol down + power ===> fastboot)
6. Connect device to the PC
7. In command prompt cd to fastboot.exe location
8. Make sure you have correct modeid and cidnum (type: fastboot getvar all)
9. Type: fastboot oem lock (if your device is not relocked yet)
10. Type: fastboot oem rebootRUU and wait for device to reboot
11. Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
12. Sometimes flashing for the first time doesn't work, so flash firmware.zip again just to make sure.
13. Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
14.Type: fastboot reboot
15. Unlock your bootloader and flash custom recovery if you are going to use custom ROM.
I get all the way down to step 11 and it fails returning the below error:
C:\fastboot>fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
sending 'zip' (1176263 KB)...
OKAY [ 56.215s]
writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 145.854s
The ruu I tried to flash is the Guru Reset M7 3.62.401.1 one located here one
The phone is on the black htc logo screen and I still have it attached via usb. I don't really know what do now. Any help would really be appreciated!

Guru reset is not a RUU nor a firmware and can not be flashed with "fastboot flash zip" command. It's a rom and must be flashed using a custom recovery.
thanks for the info. I guess that what explain why it isn't flashing. How can I find the correct RUU file? I've looked in the usual places but I can't find one that matches my version-main or baseband
turned out I needed to have s-off for it to flash after selecting the correct ruu

remove your IMEI and serialno from your getvar all.
repost your getvar all correctly so we can see all the info: S-???? 5.16.???????
what firmware.zip are you using (link) and why? you don't need to flash firmware to get an OS on your phone...
fastboot flash zip Guru_Reset_M7_2.24.161.1.zip ---> this can not be flashed this way, must be flashed from a custom recovery, however it also looks like its not the right version. You getvar: 5.16.??? ---> and you are trying to flash a 2.24
You'll probably have to flash a custom rom

Remove the imei and serialno from your getvar all. Also, you have cutoff some important information on the getvar all, i.e., version bootloader, version main. Why don't you think you have an OS? What was the firmware version you were trying to install?
I think your are trying to install the older versions of your phone and that is why it is failing. You are S-ON so you can only install the same or higher versions of OS and firmware.

if you want pple to reply to your post, then quote them or they will not be notified of your post.
try adb push instead of adb sideload
Code:
adb push Guru_Reset_M7_5.11.401.10-TeHashX.zip /sdcard/
then when the file is transferred (wait 5-10 min) install from twrp

First, hard reboot pressing the power and volume down buttons until you see the bootloader and then scroll through the options to hit "REBOOT" not "REBOOT BOOTLOADER" you'll probably boot into your rom after a couple of minutes but thats not a fix, it's just a way to use your phone for now.
Having no OS means you probably tried to flash a custom firmware or downgrade your FW but you can only do that while S-OFF
OR you where using a different kind of recovery like multirom or an old clockworkmod recovery or something, give us a little bit more info on what you where doing before you "lost" your OS and what recovery, what ROM and what you where hoping to accomplish just so we can see what went wrong. It's best when you need to do something to read the guide your using from top to bottom twice, most guides go through multiple posts not just the first to point out areas you might run into problems and things to avoid. I recently had a similar problem trying to remove multirom and reverting to stock, I was flashing the 1.57 FW with TWRP but after flashing ARHD 71.1 it still gave me "no OS installed", I reverted to stock using the RUU.zip install method with all partitions and FW and ROM to complete stock.
As the title says, I just bircked my M7... the thing is, that I tried to update TWRP recovery, but the thing is, that my phone is a m7ul, and I tried the twrp for m7, now i can only enter bootloader, but i can't do anything, i can't go to rebootRUU, i can't install any other recovery.
when I put:
fastboot reboot recovery - it just stays there, like stuck

This command doesn't exist so its normal that its not doing anything.
update your android sdk and your HTC drivers to latest version and flash twrp 2.6.3.3, check MD5 on your downloads.
Btw why updating the recovery? Recovery doesn't need to be updated, newer recovery doesn't mean better. Unless the rom you want to flash absolutely need a specific version (mentioned in the rom OP), stay with 2.6.3.3, its the most stable version.
Btw twrp for M7 is what you need for your M7_UL. "M7" twrp are compatible for M7_UL and M7_U
I tried to install TWRP 2.6.3.3 and it shows this:

I think you need to start over
In bootloader / fastboot usb / use fastboot oem lock
then flash this RUU from your PC
http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...13_10.38j.1157.04_release_334235_signed_2.exe
When you phone boots up skip all the setup and go to settings / developer options / usb debugging is checked
then settings / Power / fastboot at the bottom is unchecked
Now try adb devices / you see you phone serial number / if no fix your drivers / install htc sync the in add remove programs, uninstall htc sync / this will leave just the driver installed.
after adb works on the phone in android do / adb reboot-bootloader
now fastboot devices / returns the serial number
now unlock bootloader / flash TWRP 2.6.3.3 with
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
You should now have working custom recovery and can continue to flash a rom with root and use rumrunner to s-off
Hello, sorry, i was AFK for the weekend , about that, when I Put "fastboot oem lock" it says OK and then it gets stuck, then, after I reboot it says that is unlocked...

M7_WLS = Sprint so use a sprint RUU
your bootloop issue is probably because you are trying to flash GSM rom not compatible with the sprint variant.

your bootloop issue is probably because you are trying to flash GSM rom not compatible with the sprint variant.

htc1guru.com but this site is currently down
(link removed)
save it in the same folder where you have fastboot and adb on your computer, rename it ruu "ruu.zip" to make it easier in the command prompt
open a command prompt from that folder (or cd to that folder)
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
fastboot reboot
Do not do what said above if your computer is running windows 8. Must be done using Win7, Linux or MacOS.

Do not relock the bootloader, your phone is s-off so relocking the bootloader is not needed. Better to leave it unlocked.

Hi All,
For months I have been trying to return my HTC One to stock ROM without success. When installing cyanogenmod I wasn't successful in creating a backup and didn't realise the implications of this until I tried to return to stock.
I have tried a few things - finding a back up for a H3G HTC one, changing the CID to 1111111 ((bootloader) [JAVACARD_ERR] SD/USBDISK Init error), installing from a RUU.exe and nothing has worked.
ADB and Fastboot are correctly set up on my laptop and communicating with my phone.
My GetVar all returns.

you cant change the CID without s-off
heres your latest stock Lollipop RUU.zip: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934542817
it will wipe your entire phone, so backup anything you want to keep before flashing it.
As you are s-on you will need to relock your bootloader before flashing, but backup first as once the bootloader is locked or relocked, your custom rom wont boot.
rom taken from here and instructions on how to flash it are at the top of the page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/general/lollipop-ruu-zip-small-collection-t3053944

Thanks for the very quick reply. I downloaded the file.
Apologies for needing the extra help but I am unsure what to do with zip file - quote from the instructions "As many in this thread, ask about zip corruption, zip are not corrupted they are encrypted and can't open normally , they need decryption check md5 and dont try to unzip them"
Can you help on how I decrypt the file?

why do you want to decrypt it, just follow the instructions and flash it as it it, rename that zip file to RRU.zip, put it in the same folder as your adb and fastboot files on your computer, and flash it.
Go from here: How To Flash
1. Rename file to RUU.zip
2. Place it in adb folder
3. Reboot phone to fastboot mode
4. S On need to relock bootloader (fastboot oem lock) , S Off lock not needed
5. Also use the htc_fastboot.exe not the normal fastboot.exe
get the htc_fastboot.exe here : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934539737
Rename htc_fastboot to fastboot or if you don't rename it, then the command will be "htc_fastboot flash zip RUU.zip"
Run the following commands from your adb folder:
6. htc_fastboot oem rebootRUU
7.htc_fastboot flash zip RUU.zip
8.htc_fastboot reboot-bootloader

Seanie,
When I tried the flash it didn't work, I got an error message, I then read the text at the top of the page and misunderstood the guidance for instructions. Hence the decrypting question.
I just retried and it seems to have worked.
I do sincerely appreciate your help. Since November off and on I have been trying to make this happen - I couldn't have done it without you.
Thanks,
Piney

Try to flash the RUU with the sdcard method: Save your RUU at the root of your external sdcard (the file must be named PN07IMG.zip) and reboot in bootloader mode, it should ask you if you want to update, select yes. Otherwise to flash it with a computer you will need to use htc_fastboot.exe instead of the regular fastboot, htc_fastboot.exe will only work with MS Windows. I see from your picture that your bootloader is relocked but just to be sure, it was relocked before trying to flash the RUU?
Awesome ! It worked
