I have searched a ton and haven't found any help with the htc one (m7) for this issue. Im trying to install cm11 but have tried other roms and same issues. everytime i try to install it kicks back an error almost immediately and says E: Error in /tmp/update.zip (status 0) and install aborted, any help would be great. Im normally good at figuring this stuff out, but im stuck now.

6.0.4.3. was on the touch one, .6 i think but had same issue
Flash 2.8.0.2 from here via fastboot or something like Flashify if you are already rooted..

what version and just sideload the apk?
and changing my recovery would allow me to install or thats just a suggestion to see if it solves the issue?
If you are rooted, then just install the latest version of Flashify from the Play Store. Flashify will automatically download and flash TWRP 2.8.0.2 for you. These are not apks, it's a recovery system. Once TWRP is installed, reboot into recovery and install the zip for cm11 or whatever ROM you want. I haven't used CWM in years, TWRP looks amazing, works great, and is under active development. If your not rooted, you will need to hook your phone up to your computer and use adb/fastboot to flash TWRP. There's plenty of guides here on XDA for all of this.

Okay. So I rooted my HTC One a few days ago.
I had a problem with the /system folder still being protected so I installed Viper's kernel thing for HTC One.
This however, caused my wi-fi to be broken.
I then attempted to install Viper's custom rom and when the phone tried to boot back up it just kept looping and showing they HTC brilliant screen with red text saying development bla bla.
I have tried to install a stock rom and attempted to install a RUU, but none of it worked and got me past the boot loop.
I have TWRP Recovery, but it isn't mounting any of the folders correctly.
I have access to adb and fastboot commands, but none of that has been able to help me so far.
When I tried to install the RUU it gave me an error saying 12 verifications failed.
I have no access to android in anyway so I only have bootloader and recovery to work with.
I would appreciate any help you can give me. I have looked at tons of threads on here and found nothing that worked!

I'm stock 4.3, kernels, firmware, but also htcdev unlocked and rooted. Using latest PhilZ recovery.
Not yet S-off, but to flash InsertCoin or ViperROM 3.1, both of which are 4.3/Sense 5.5 based, do I need S-off? 'Been searching forever and can't find a definitive answer.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks -- btw I obviously gave a thumb too...
Anyway -- can you verify for me, or point me to someone familiar with PhilZ, the following plan for flashing the ViperROM or InsertCoin (still fighting the internal debate as to which -- cool or rock solid):
1) Copy the ROM (zip) to /sdcard;
2) Reboot to recovery (PhilZ);
3) Wipe Data / Factory Reset;
4) Wipe Cache Partition;
5) Install Zip from /sdcard;
6) I guess reboot (or maybe the flash does that -- not used PhilZ yet).
I know it's overly Questioning, but this phone is great and I think I just can't be too careful.
Thanks in advance.

Yes that's right. All the recoveries are pretty much the same. I am not 100% sure Philz (based on CWM) is compatible with all the ROMs out there, but you can check on the proper thread

I use TWRP 2.3.6.0 (Sprint HTC One) and haven't had any problems flashing any 5.5-based ROMS. Not sure about Philz, as I've never used that recovery. However, I do know from reading posts in Development section, that CWM definitely causes issues with some of the ROMs, where phone is stuck in recovery after a ROM is flashed.
Your sequence for flashing a ROM is correct. My suggestion will be to Wipe Cache, Dalvik, Data, and System in order to get a clean flash. I normally repeat this twice (just to be sure), then flash the ROM zip from sdcard, then reboot the phone (mostly manually).
I use ViperROM 3.5. It's Sense 5.5-based ROM, and it's way past awesome, with tons of tweaks (if that's your thing). This ROM has it's own installer (AROMA installer) and it walks you through the whole flashing process, and reboots the phone after it's done.
Also, I forgot to mention, if you have already unlocked your phone using official htcdev.com method then you don't need S-Off. S-Off unlocks more than just bootloader, which can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.

Hmmm, two installs, two boot loops (restored backups). Did you, by chance, select the ViperROM 'optimized' install, or 'stick close to stock'?
This should work -- but I always get a boot loop. I'm about to flash InsertCoin for the time being, but ???
Actually I didn't. I just keep touching my screen every now and then while I'm wiping/flashing. It's just me. Never had any issues using TWRP. If the screen does go blank, I touch the home button and screen comes back on...

Using PhilZ. Not ready to say that's the issue -- I installed InsertCoin and it ran like a champ. Something's up with Viper -- I'll figure it out. I can flash back to TWRP easily, but PhilZ has OTG, power charging, it's awfully good, and wicked stable.
Glad insertcoin is working out for you. Have they come up with kit Kat yet? That's what I'm waiting on before I switch ROMs again.

Looking at viper forum, it seems like in the new version (3.5), they coded the Sprint device as m7spr as opposed to m7wls (the official name), which has caused ladies on different recoveries while installing. The devs posted instructions on how to fix this before flashing until they release an updated version. Just an FYI.

Hi ! I was trying to install a custom ROM to my phone. When i flashed the file and restarted it got caught in a boot loop.
I manage to get to the boot loader, but if i try to reboot, or anything else, it's back to the boot loop.
Anyone that can help me with this ?
I suppose what I did wrong was that when I was flashing the custom ROM, i typed "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and I guess that changes something with the boot function. I'm really new to this, and the reason I did that is because it's something I saw on another webpage, I don't even know what I was thinking. But I really need help here.

Yes, I got adb and fastboot installed, Not sure if the drivers were installed properly, but I would suppose so considering the installation of twrp and unlocking of bootloader was successfull. But do you got a link to some updated driver in case ?
I flashed the rom on twrp yes, and the twrp version is 2.6.3.4
But considering what i did was typing "fastboot flash boot rom.img" I suppose I somehow changed the boot ? Or is that what you're trying to help me fix ?

Alright, and, do I write the command while in mount ? or in fastboot ?
Do I went to upgrade my wife's G2 to a newer TWRP version. Instead of smartly doing this by flashing the new zip in twrp, I used JMZ's twrp app to flash the newer version. It said success and thought all was good.
When I return to recovery, it's just a black screen nothing loads. I rebooted and tried again. Same problem. Rebooted and tried flashing CWM through ROM manager. Same result - black recovery screen.
By now I've tried to access fastboot but fastboot doesn't recognize device (although ADB had no problem). I've attempted flashing the IMG file from the official TWRP app and also using the "dd" method on terminal Emulator.
I'm at a complete loss here. My guess is the recovery is corrupted and anything short of using KDZ or TOT method to return to stock and re-root is going to just keep frustrating me.
Thoughts?

yeah those twrp apps are more trouble than they are worth on the G2 at least.
I think there was a lollipop version of autorec floating around might have to google it
or you could try and pull the recovery.img out of one of blastgators zips and flash with dd then flash the zip in twrp
I dont understand one thing, can you boot the phone? It can turn on normally? Anyway about the recovery, have you tried with AutoRec.apk? Google for it and it should install some old version of TWRP then go and find 3.0xx bumped TWRP which is recommended in most of roms and flash it through the old one, after that reboot recovery and youll have the latest recovery

Yes the phone boots just fine. It's just the recovery that's been blasted. I'm gonna try the autorec you guys mentioned. I'll let you know how it goes.
When you say find a bumped version of TWRP, that is something different than the one on the official site right? Also, the version I found of autorec was the kitkat version. I believe I rooted her phone from Lollipop. Will this cause problems with running autorec? Moreover will it mess up my boot?

So tried autorec for the vs980. Unfortunately it can't find or install the Loki_tool. With that it closes the app. I've tried looking up info on the Loki tool, but I'm not finding anything that is being helpful.
I'm familiar with using the kdz method and might just do that and start fresh. Really wish I hadn't used that stupid twrp app now. I'll take any further suggestions that could save me from restoring stock.
