run sdb.aio.multi.tool.bat
this will now link you to my themes and apps thread for downloads from inside the aio.bat.tool , download what you want/need and copy to C:/sdb
then switch back to the cmd window and continue.
This part is confusing. What cmd window do i go to? What path and what to type?

Also, enable installation of non-Market (untrusted) apps (sideloading):
* COMMON:
* Start the phone normally.
* Enable USB debugging (settings > applications > development > USB Debugging)
* Leave the phone running - do not reboot to Clockwork.
* adb remount
* adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db settings.db
Linux/OS X:
* echo "update secure set value = 1 where name = 'install_non_market_apps';"|sqlite3 settings.db
WINDOWS:
* echo update secure set value = 1 where name = 'install_non_market_apps';|sqlite3 settings.db
COMMON:
* adb push settings.db /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
* Reboot phone and sideloading works. (thanks to fluffyarmada)

Fuk'in AWESOME! Job well done.
can the swype apk be downloaded via the HTC Liberty using XDA App ?
..or separate download, remove sdcard, save, reinsert into phone and use Astro ?
I downloaded it to my machine and then pushed to my phone and installed with Astro. Haven't tried to download through the xda app.

[ED05] Gingerbread Power Off Animation

So I didn't really like the Verizon power off animation for PowerWashed (ED05) ROM, so I changed it to the full TV power off animation. I've always liked this one, so I figured there would have to be others as well. I posted the zipped folder that has all the necessary images for the full power off animation. I use Root Explorer, so for those who use that as well, here's the steps to make it work...
1) Extract the folder onto your computer, once you do, double-click the folder so you see another "shutdown" folder. Copy that folder and place it on your SD card.
2) Using Root Explorer, scroll down and find the system folder, click on that, then scroll down and click on the media folder.
3) Once you're in the media folder, scroll all the way down and click on the video folder.
4) Inside the video folder will be the shutdown folder, and from there I would either delete it, or copy it and paste it onto your SD card (Just in case you decide you want to go back to that power off animation) under a different folder name so it doesn't overwrite your existing shutdown folder.
5) Once you've taken care of the original shutdown folder, making sure there's nothing in system/media/video, go back to your shutdown folder (With the TV off animation) and simply move it to system/media/video.
6) You're done! Power off to test it out and make sure it worked.
*Note* For those who would like to delete the shutdown sound, simply go to system/audio/ui and delete the shutdown.ogg.
**Edit** I find the Nexus S Reloaded boot animation to fit perfectly with the power off animation, so for those who want the nice combination, feel free to flash it. Remember to wipe cache and delvik cache!
Very nice. I gave you a thanks. It works great.

Ok, talk us through what you are doing and where it fails.
I am running Ubuntu 11.04 and I downloaded Heimdall for Linux as a .deb package. I installed it, I just don't know what i'm not doing right. I installed the .deb packages, but nothing happened...
Open terminal
type
Code:

Or create your own launcher
Right click... Create launcer put heimdall-frontend as the command
If I recall, it doesn't yet make an entry in your menus yet... You can add it to your menu by right clicking on the Ubuntu Circle icon and selecting "edit menu" then add new

You'll also want to perform the steps outline in this post to update to the unofficial 1.3.1 that fixes the repartitioning issue. Just keep an eye on which directory you're in as I think Adam threw in one too many "cd .."
Ok, now i'm doing something wrong. I dl'd Heimdall 1.3.0 , used Ubuntu software center to install, and it said it was installed, Heimdall command line first, then front end. But nothing happens when I try to use it.

yeah, I think so. The first time I tried i must have picked the wrong ones because I got a message about it not being compatible. Amd64/Intel64, Command line first then frontend. Then double clicked on each to install v(command line first, then front end again), where Software Center took over and installed.

Doesn't matter where the files are when they get installed.
Sounds like it didn't install. If you rerun the .deb files does software manager ask you to reinstall?

FYI, there's an error in your steps under Powerboost. The folder should be renamed to "UNL3ASH3D" (no quotes), not "Unl3ashed".

Well after many wipes/formats and every thing else I finally have everything working.
I can verify that multiple cache wipes, dalvik wipes and system formats do the job.
I'm not sure exactly how many I done but it was a lot.
I just sit there and wiped, formatted, wipe, format, wipe, format so on and so on and it finally took, I even installed 3 times over and over each other.
The ROM works great.
All the phones might have the same parts and look the same, but for some reason they don't act the same.

[How-To] Make nandroid backups really fast

Nandroid backups on the D3 aren't the fastest right now, but with a simple and quick tweak, we can make them much, much faster.
During the backup/restore, clockword recovery shows each individual file being copied. By turning this off, it drastically improves backup/restore times. It'll still say backup up /system, or /data, it just won't show the individual file. In order to remove the nandroid progress stats, you need to create two files using adb or terminal emulator.
ADB or Terminal Emulator1) type- (may need to do "adb shell" first)
Code:
echo "" > /sdcard/clockworkmod/.hidenandroidprogress
Press enter
2) type
Code:
echo "" > /sdcard-ext/clockworkmod/.hidenandroidprogress
Press enter
3) Done!
Hint- to check to make sure it created the files, navigate to /sdcard/clockworkmod and see if there's a .hidenandroidprogress file. Also check in /sdcard-ext/clockworkmod for the same file.
Can't we just create the files manually instead of going through the trouble of using adb?
Yup. I used a terminal emulator on my phone since I didn't feel like taking the time to do it.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Thanks for this. I was wondering why backup/restore was so much slower on the D3 than on my OG Droid - synchronous IO strikes again.
FYI,
I removed the detailed progress bar from the upcoming Safestrap 1.0. The wait was just too long to even have that option enabled.
Excellent post, thanks a lot for sharing this tip.
Edit: I created both files and then rebooted into Recovery and started a backup. I still see each file being named as well as the progress bar. Did not seem to work for me...

Definitely weird, I will delete the files and try to create them again to see if that helps. FYI, I used Android Terminal Emulator to create the files using the commands you posted.

Wow, had a temporary lapse of reason earlier... Your typo of the comma in your last comment made me realize my own typo in typing /.hideandroidprogress instead of ./hidenandroidprogress . Backups are much, much faster now.
Huge difference!
I'm not sure if this is where I should post this but... When making a backup with CWM bootstrap(Not Safestrap) does it backup the /preinstall stuff too? I ask because I tried using the safestrap to flash a compatible rom and didnt backup and the rom wasnt functioning properly. I managed to recover back to my ogblur i was running prior but i wanted to know if my /preinstall was reverted and if not do I have anything to worry about with it not being how it was originally?
