[Q] Internal Storage Issue - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I was able to restore my phone to stock, but after unlocking it and flashing a recovery my internal storage is too low to create a nandroid backup. Attached are two pictures of the low size. Any thoughts on why or how I can fix it? I've tried multiple builds of twrp and still I get the same results.

Also, when I am booted into the stock rom it shows full data size on the phone. I haven't taken the time to try to fill it up to see what happens. Please somebody help, I can't take another phone back to sprint within a week I finally figured out what I did wrong to the last one.

[Q] galaxy i9000 looping at bootup.. not getting past the glowing S

I have recently flashed the JVS firmware from samsung firmware, and then followed that up with this CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVS-v4.1-CWM3RFS, flashing via the PDA section in ODIN. My phone has been working perfectly for a few days, no problems at all, until right now when I've gone to restart the phone.. I was having troubles with the market, and I turned my phone off mid-download of an app.. I'm pretty sure it was mid-download and not mid-installation of it..
However, when I turn my phone back on, it'll show the Galaxy S I9000 screen, then go to the next screen with the glowing S, however after that, it just gives a quick, short vibration, and seems to turn off, then do it all over again..
What does this mean? Is there a way I can get out of it without re-flashing the entire firmware? I am still able to get into download mode, but I don't want to lose messages that I have saved on my phone..
Any help is greatly appreciated..
Denno
Ok, so I let the phone go for a while (around 10 minutes), of the screens cycling through as mentioned above, but now it seems to have actually found a way into the phone, and has now loaded up properly.. However, I'm still interested in what the problem could be on the phone??
are u using new market app?
its happened to me once and i reflashed whole firmware starting from 2.1 to 2.3.5 lol just to avoid sh*t like that
When I had 2.2 on there, I had the new market app, however after flashing 2.3.5, it had the old market, so I was downloading apps from the old market at the time..
What do you mean you re-flashed whole firmware from 2.1?
Anyone else have any ideas?
Try to wipe factory reset and wipe cache or try to flash rom again

Could be a corruption in the bootloader, if it happens again i would reflash. Otherwise just leave it i guess, maybe it was a one off
It happens pretty much all the time now.. I have reflashed the firmware a couple of times.. And it still seems to happen. What would wiping the cache remove? Will I lose any settings or anything that I have on the phone? I have been restoring backups made using titanium, however just apps and data, not system settings..
If it's the bootloader, is there any way of fixing that?
Thanks
Ah that could be the problem. Sometimes when you restore backup they can conflict and thus cause issues like this...
Try only return the data, that works for me. Get app list from the market and after a backup move to external sd. Format internal sd card. Then do an Odin flash with repartition checked. This is designed to get you back to factory state, so you will loose everything. Make sure your backups are not on your internal sd when you format. Also before you flash i think its a good idea to put a copy of your nandroid backup into the internal sd. Or just use a nandroid backup from when you phone was working fine.
Deleting cache does not delete your settings usually, however when deleting dalvick cache it can take up to 30 mins (max i think) to start you phone, but usually its 5/10 mins.
Yes bootloader can be fixed just find a flashable bootloader with a rom or the directions given. Use search for this
Ok thanks for the tips Talon.. Firstly, this nandroid backup that I keep hearing about.. What exactly is that? Is that the backup that I do through Clockwork Mod Recovery? I'm also unsure how to return just the data to apps? I had a look at Titanium Backup, and the only data recovery option is for system data.. Everything else I think I can handle..
Thanks
Yes nandroid backup is the backup through CWM. You should always do one BEFORE you flash anything on your phone. And keep them in a safe place and leave one in your internal sd card.
You should use titanium backup to backup up a single app at a time, not batch. This way you'll have more files and can choose which apps you want to return, and if you only want to return the data. (I have always done it this way, so i dont know if you can pick the apps you want to return if you do backup via batch.). Use the other app i suggested to keep the market links, so you download the app from market first then you install the data once its there.
I suggest you don't return any apps at first see how it goes, then add either a couple or one at a time, again only the app data. (Once you backuo the app individually, flash then, TB, backup/restore press on the app, restore, then pick data only...) If you go from froyo to GB i think you cant do it)
Thank you very much for your reply Talon. I am currently on JVS, and plan to re-flash this exact same firmware, which is the stock firmware, nothing custom..
As for what you've written, it's going to take me a few reads before I can get my head around it, but I just wanted to say thankyou for a quick and detailed reply. I think I might just bite the bullet and figure out which apps I actually use, and just work with them for now..
I'll post back soon hopefully with results.
After getting very frustrated with the phone, I've finally re-flashed back to a seemingly stock situation. Phone is running great, and all problems seem to be gone. Slowly re-downloading apps from the market as I feel that I need them, so I hopefully won't get any interference from the old backups I had..
One more question, how do you make your backups? If you say you don't use the batch mode in Titanium? I can't see any other way that's as easy..
Thanks for your help Talon.
As i said before, backup/restore click on the app you want to back up, and click backup. When you want to restore it, back to the menu, click on the app, click restore, then pick data only longer but safer
Change the location of TB to your exsd if you haven't already, then go to setting find, and it will make it default location
Ahk.. Sounds very time consuming.. lol..
Phone is running like a champ now . Thanks

[Q] Data partition corrupted?

My GT-I9000 got stuck in a loop, where the screen wouldn't turn on, but I could tell it was doing something because the phone was getting warmer. I couldn't get it to turn off properly either. In desperation after leaving it for ages, I pulled the battery.
Upon next booting up the phone, it "welcomed" me to my new phone, and asked me which country I was from etc. I was also met with about 20 Force Close messages.
All my contacts are gone and other data is lost. Texts are still there.
I am assuming that my data partition is corrupted, does that sound correct?
If I try to make a change to an app's settings, they mostly aren't retained on the next visit. This is true even of new apps I've tried installing. Sadly the various backups I thought I had turned out weren't as complete as I thought either.
I'm assuming the lost items are completely gone (unless anyone knows methods of recovery on data partition?)
I think I need to run an fsck / chkdsk type utility for RFS on the data partition, and maybe the others too (I'm hoping it is just file system corruption, rather than hardware failing!). I'm also assuming I would then be best wiping the partitions completely and installing a new ROM. I'm currently still back on JPY anyway, so keen to move on to something newer anyway (probably JW4). The phone is not currently rooted and not sure if it is rootable in it's current state.
So my questions:
Anyone know a way to recover anything from Data partiton in this scenario?
Anyone know which utility I can use to repair the partition file system?
Then presumably I want to do a full wipe in some way (or maybe a full zero-ing?) and then repartition, before installing a new ROM.
Any help and suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Mike
I found that there is a "fsck_msdos" tweaked by Samsung, but there appears to be mixed opinions about whether it helps or makes things worse. Any views on this?
I'm assuming I would need to be rooted to be able to run fsck_msdos on my data partition, is this correct? If so, what is the best way to root JPY?
Also, which partition sounds like the culprit:- data? dbdata? other?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Can anyone help? Any suggestions?
Thanks
Mike
Firstly, what rom are you currently using?
Secondly, does it matter if you loose all existing data?
I'm still on JPY.
I don't want to lose anything else (having already lost contacts etc), but that is just making sure I have suitable backups before I do anything.

[Q] A full wipe and re-install on a GT-I9305T... Can it be done?

Hi all,
I have been trolling through all the forums on the GT-I9300T then the 9305T, and found so far a heap of tips and tricks for tweaking my phone.
I've been happily Rooting and ROMing my 9305T for a month now all without issue. What I've noticed is that with each ROM i put on my phone, it accumulates more files, folders and other legacy junk from the previous ROM. Do that over four ROM's and you get the idea...
So i thought i would restore from backup, my factory ROM which i have on internal and external SD. Unfortunately the restore came up with an error saying it was missing a file during the data backup (The Boot, Cache etc. all restored without a hitch) so it went into a boot loop...
I got out of the boot loop OK, installed the correct factory ROM form SamMobile and all is well. The phone works and everything is intact, but i now have a lot of junk on my phone I'd like to get rid of to restore it to the day i bought it. With my backup image not working can a full wipe and re-install be done to accomplish this?

Help me! Hard brick & unable to transfer files to phone.

much to my dismay, i have managed to be ignorant, impatient, and careless enough tonight to do the following to my precious note3:
1) wiped the stock rom slot on my phone via safestrap
2) thus, also deleted every single file on my internal storage (documents, pictures, personal memories, basically all files, titanium backup files, everything)
3) to hammer my point home: i lost everything that made my phone feel like my own and there's a sinking feeling in my stomach as i write this.
what was I trying to accomplish?
1) switch from KK Knoxraid to JB Firenote x7
what instructions did i follow? the instructions I found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2707555
what went wrong?
1) smooth sailing right up until the point where i was in Recovery (SafeStrap 3.71) and I tried to flash JB FireNote X7. (smart, right? not...)
2) i noticed a strange error message that told me something about error datamedia/media - something about it not existing. i suspected there was some hiccup so i brilliantly wiped everything again and tried to re-flash, only to realize WHY there were instructions telling me to put the flashable ZIP on my external SD card
3) i no longer have any backups to restore via safestrap, nor any roms on my internal or external sd card
4) most disappointingly: i also do not seem to have any way to transfer any files from my computer to my phone. but then, I do not know what all the options are for doing so.
Now, after some research I understand that this is not as simple as the instructional thread made it out to be. at least not in my situation. I should have reverted back to JB, after using KK. But now i'm here and I do not know what to do. Hopefully what follows will help some other poor soul (read: idiot) that finds themselves in the same situation.
What am I trying to accomplish now:
1) Ideally, restore every file that i just wiped from my internal storage. i know this is a long shot, but i thought I'd throw it out there.
2) Most importantly: get my phone working again! preferrably with FireNote x7 ROM in my stock slot
Where am I at the moment?
1) in front of my computer at 12:45 in the morning in a cold sweat (not actually sweating, but you get the picture)
2) looking at the ADB sideload screen in Safestrap recovery 3.71. to make things worse, it appears that it does not work and it will not let me return to the main menu. Why did I do this? i panicked. have you ever panicked? i did, and i feel stupid
Help!
Apparently, it was only soft bricked. I decided to forgo any hope of restoring my wiped internal storage files and followed the instructions in the thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715
I seem to be on the road to recovery. So far I have successfully restored my phone back to stock.
Important note: I was using a Windows 8.1 computer to perform the restore and I had trouble using zadig.exe from Heimdall - it said the driver installation failed. Windows 8.1 protects itself by forbidding unsigned driver installations. I found the way around this by using the guide on this website here: http://revryl.com/2013/08/06/install-unsigned-drivers/
Cheers, with a heavy heart
the Capt.
You did exactly what I was going to suggest, so no need to repeat it. Now just install Safestrap, leave the stock slot alone and have fun.
(You may want to go to airplane mode immediately and freeze the updater so you don't get bothered by 4.4.2 [or let it update to NB4, then freeze it].)
BTW, if you ever do hard brick it (or if anyone comes here because he hard bricked his phone) a Samsung Dongle (which you can make if you have a microUSB plug and about half an inch of 1 wire from a stranded about #18 - and can solder - just short pins 4 and 5, or you can buy for about $2 on eBay) will bring a hard-bricked N3 to the download screen. From there you can Odin it back to life.

Phone Internal memory slowing

Very weird issue ive been wondering if anyones seen or had.
My phones internal memory seems to be slowing down. Apps are taking forever to update, Titanium backup (backup and restore jobs) are taking forever. To me it seems like the internal memory is the issue
Now i can honestly say the phones been flashed over hundreds of times, I've tried new roms, sense, aosp, ect. At this point it doesn't matter, clean install or old nandroid restore, they all exhibit the same behavior.
I've even gone as far as clearing all internal memory (to my knowledge) by wiping the phone, including data/media and sideloading a rom back onto the phone.
Any ideas?
Is there any surefire way to reformat the ENTIRE internal memory?

I usually make it a practice to run the RUU from time to time. It seems to clear up nagging issues that persist despite flashing new ROMs. Since you are s-off, I recommend you follow my guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...de-reset-phone-using-ruu-htcfastboot-t2876110
To make sure things are fixed, I'd stay stock for a few days. Since you are s-off, you can just flash a new custom recovery and a new custom ROM when you are ready.
