[Q] How to flash a stock rom.zip - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I downloaded a stock rom 10.5.1.A.0.283 for my C6603 and it appears to be .zip not .ftf which I don't know how to flash
I used to flash .ftf using The Flashtool .. so could anyone please help me with this?
and I use C6603 that is rooted but locked bootloader, just to be clear!
I wanted to show you what I got when I unzipped the rom but since I'm new here I couldn't post a link to the photo!

Where did you download it? Technically, a FTF is an archive, so sometimes your PC will assign the same icon to it as a zip.

Unfortunately I forgot where I downloaded it
I thought so firstly but I can unzip it with WinZip which I can't do with .FTF, right?
more than that The Flashtool couldn't recognize it as a firmware!
Thanx for replying

What is the filename? You might have downloaded a prerooted stock firmware, which needs flashing in recovery.
Also, WinRAR/WinZip etc can extract FTF files.

Is that a prerooted one?and should my phone be unlocked bootloader if I wanted to flash this Rom?

It doesn't look like it. Try renaming to FTF and see if Flashtool accepts it.
If not, you can download this C6602 stock FTF that I uploaded. That is 100% a FTF and usable with Flashtool.

Any easy way to deodex stock .67 FW?

As the topic clearly states the question..
Is it any EASY way to deodex stock .67 firmware for Xperia Z? I am currently pretty tired of getting infinite bootloops after trying out a lot of deodex-suitable methods that's here and there all over the internet and everything just ends up in chaos..
Some proper how-to guides that someone wants to share?

Thank you!
But one question.. Can I apply the linked .67 deodex ZIP to an stock ROM that's flashed as an FTF thru Flashtool? Or is this deodex zip just for the firmware that [NUT] is providing?

[Q] Can someone provide Xperia z camera files?

I was messing around with the system/app folder and replaced the camera files with ported files. Now the camera app doesn't work and I didn't make a backup of those files. So please can someone provide the required files?
As you don't say which firmware version you're using, then just extract them from a rom or flash a stock FTF with Flashtool without wiping.
Next time you're modifying /system, make sure you backup.

Hehe... I will say the same as @kingvortex

What is an unbranded stock? And how do I know which one should I use?

Branded = Stock Sony firmware with carrier-specific settings and/or software
Unbranded = Stock Sony firmware without the above, also known as 'generic'
Custom = any modified or non-Sony firmware e.g. MIUI, CyanogenMod, AOSP builds.
And how do I know which one should I use?

To find out what firmware your device has on it currently, just go to Settings > About Device > Build Number. Then search on XDA or Google for the ".ftf" version, flash it with Flashtool and you're good to go.

[REQ] Need some files and other

Hi there, I need to downgrade from 4.3 (10.4.1.B.0.101) to any Europe 4.2.2 with recovery + rooted stock firmware, becouse I want to flash this firmware : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/rom-rooted-deodexed-zipaligned-stock-0-t2759467
I have locked bootloader and no recovery and root on my 4.3, that's the main problem why I need to downgrade to 4.2 as well I have locked BL and I don't want to unlock it.
Thanks in advice.
(have searched before posting this thread, so don't suggest me to use search, 'cause I've found only useless things. I need EUROPE, not with china language and for unlocked bl..)
To downgrade, you will need to flash an FTF. You will not find an FTF that is prerooted/has a custom recovery. FTF files are unmodified stock firmware only.
You will need to flash a stock FTF with Flashtool, root and flash the dual recovery yourself (or use the unrooted install method for XZDualRecovery).
Search in the general section for a 4.2.2 FTF. There are many available. The region does not matter if you're going to immediately flash a different rom anyway.

Please point out where I said you needed CWM to flash an FTF. You use Flashtool.
1. Download a 4.2.2 FTF - Here
2. Flash with Flashtool - Download
3. Install XZDualRecovery using the unrooted method.
4. Flash the rom mentioned in your original post.
All this information is readily available in the forums, so a quick search should help if you're having further problems.

[Q] Flashing back to stock ftf

Anyone have this seriously annoying problem where you're from cyanogenmod 11 (pimped kernel) trying to flash the stock ftf (757) and it gives this error? How you fix this?

You get this error only when you try to flash 757 or any firmware?
It could be that you have bad firmware or old flashtool...
Try to flash 534 and see what's happening...

Download stripped ftf and just flash it with everything unchanged.
Stripped ftf is kernel only+baseband and it's created for that purpose.

Hehe
The best part in ftf flashing is that even if you screw something and flash full ftf it won't do any damage.
You'll just have to root it again
