YES ....sony disables it cause bionz need some drm-keys that are broke when you have an unlocked bootloader

Hi. I tried to root my Xperia Z and after that Mobile Bravia Engine 2 stopped to work. Is it any way to reset the app so it can work propertly again? At this time when I turned it On or Off nothing changing. I tried it again with locked and unlocked bootloader but was the same! I tried even both stock roms, 10.1.A.350 and 10.1.A.434. What can I do, anybody knows?
Once you unlocked the bootloader,BE2 is forever lost(unless someone is able to port it somehow)
It's weird because I think I saw a port of the bravia engine in the lg optimus 4x forum. So maybe it's not that difficult to port it back.

As long as your bootloader is locked,BE2 will remain

When someone find a simple method than you will have it. For now there isnt any other than flash .254 at first. Just do it and enjoy.

You can take backup of DRM keys. In case you need to use the warranty service, just restore the backup and your warranty stays valid.

So you can make your TA Backup once on rooted 4.1.2, then you are free to root your 4.3 and lock your bootloader with restoring TA..
Hi everyone
I'm visitor of xda forum for 6 years, but this is first time that I decided to write or ask something.
I have problem with camera of my Xperia z3+. I can't record hd videos, because when I try to record my phone freeze, and also focus doesn't work when I take photos for near object. I have tried everything in settings, but not success. I have tried also to repair my phone with Xperia companion from PC, and surprisingly it works, but unfortunately only for some days (maybe one week). After that same story. Again doesn't work. Don't ask me to call or to send the phone to Sony company because it doesn't exist in my country. What do you suggest guys? To flash new rom? Lineage? Or other official stock roms, even though I have tried to flash official 7.1.1 US version.
Sorry for my English, and thank you.

did you backup your DRM keys? if not, they are lost forever, that's why your camera have problem focusing, x-reality stops working and so on. flashing new roms will not solve your problem.
you need to flash kernel with DRM fix.

Hello, what will happen when unlock bootloader? Anybody tried this on XZ2?
Most likely the same thing that happens on all Sony devices, loss of DRM license and some camera functionality. I won't be unlocking it.
I will be unlocking mine the first min I boot it up.
Android phone without root? Lol.

Let us know what happens to DRM keys. Hopefully it's not wiped but I seriously doubt that. Root is what is keeping me from changing my XZ.

Probably the same as the XZP; green pictures.
The real answer is nothing. Sony devices seem to drag on development... More than others in my experience. As tempting as it is, I won't so it until I can fake or backup the DRM keys.
I'm running out of reasons to root anyway.
Also, You will lose Ps4 remote play and you lose X-reality Engine
There will be a DRM patch as for all the previous Xperia devices...

I can agree with you, phone is not bloated, it is snapy, plenty of space so for me for now i go with good adblocker ?
And later after full root solved i will flash it ?
Sony is very good lately

Are you sure?

At the moment, if you root your phone, your camera won't work anymore.
Also the X-Reality Engine for the LCD-screen stops working.
We can't backup our DRM keys at the moment to undo the unlocking.
(You also can't use the DRM-Keys from another XZ2 later, they are device specific).
We also don't know, if and when a DRM fix will be released, to hack this restriction.
That's the tutorial:

Regarding root only, as long as you unlock the bootloader of your device (agreeing to the terms of sony): do this, and you're done!
Thank you guys, thank you martin
