Ok, so i have had Chromecast for 10 days. Just now I start noticing bad quality when using Youtube, iHeartradio and Vevo, Pandora, which are all the apps i use for chromecast . I haven't done hack it or anything. Please help! It sounds a bit staticy and a little like you are talking into a fan. It's terrible.
Try power cycling both TV and Chromecast, and unplug/replug Chromecast into TV.

Hi Guys.
I've searched for an answer to this problem but no success. So sorry if it's been dealt with before.
I've recently received my chromecast and excitedly set it up in my bedroom. Everything seemed to be going great until I tried to cast a film. The video is fine but the sound is really high pitched noise. The noise does change when people talk or music is playing so the sound is getting through. This happens with videos through youtube as well.
My TV is just a cheap Elonex 32" LCD and I've had it a few years so I thought it might be the HDMI port that was faulty. I hoovered out the port and blowed it out with air but no joy. So I tried the Chromecast downstairs on my Sony TV. It worked completely fine. So I thought I'd try my Android dongle RK3188 from downstairs on my TV upstairs and that worked fine??? So ruled out the HDMI port being faulty.
So what is causing this high pitched audio through the chromecast upstairs???
Many thanks for any help :good:

Is the file you are trying to play have Dolby Surround Audio like DTS or AC3?
I have heard the same thing whenever I am playing on a Monitor that does not have a good Stereo Mixdown of Surround to Stereo.
Yes, it's not the port per-se, but rather the audio capabilities of your TV. Some TVs don't default to denying everything and instead go with "umm, I'll try..." which leads to devices feeding it something it can't properly handle and sad users. Same goes with resolution - a few TVs say they'll try to show 1080p then fail miserably, leaving the user with a black screen or "invalid signal" message.
I would like to keep playing the game sound both in my device and in the Chromecast, because I'm planning to record an horror gameplay using a Google Cardboard. Would be nice to show in the TV what the player is seeing and hearing and keep the sound on their earphones.
I tried to use the TV output sound, but it has the mirroring lag and even though it had not, the player could tie yourself in the earphone cable, would be more practice to have the sound in both devices.
I have a Motorola Moto X 1st
Hi.. Hoping someone may be able to help. I have an lg TV that has sound distortion when using a chromcast. I get buzzing every time someone talks or there is a noise. Sound is very fuzzy. Tried extension cable to move chromecast away from the TV. Tried differing sockets and being close to the router. Doesn't matter what app or what stream it always has the sound issue
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if there was a way of casting the video to the CC and get the audio though the phone so I can listen to headphones.
Thanks in advance

No and it wouldn't work well even if it could since there would be no way to sync the two streams to each other.
Wireless Headphones would seem to be the best solution for you provided the TV has an audio out to plug them into.
Actually, there is a way, sort of. Obviously depends on what you're watching, but if you open the video (or the stream from TerrariumTV) in Localcast, it has a checkbox to route audio to phone!
I often use Chrome to cast a video stream to my Chromecast. I am playing with a Win 10 laptop to a TV with the Chromecast plugged into it.
Sometimes, it comes through as screen mirroring (the video plays on both laptop and TV) and sometimes it casts directly through the Chromecast (the laptop switches to show a message that the video is casting, and the video only plays on the TV). I cannot figure out what triggers screen mirroring vs direct streaming through the Chromecast. Sometimes it will stream directly and then suddenly switch back to mirroring on the same video stream.
I would prefer to have the video stream directly through the Chromecast. The picture quality is better, less chance of audio lag, and less stuttering. Also, the laptop does not have to do all the work of rendering the video so it saves quite a bit on battery.
Anybody know how if there are ways to control this?
