Just got my Moto X 2014. So far very impressed. I do have a question on the active display thing. I have setup my custom voice activation thing. But when I say things like "Open Camera" or "Open Facebook" it doesn't launch the app it goes to the web and does a search on those apps. Is their a way to have these apps open when I say open etc.
I think the command is "start", try that

it always goes through google search, to process the words. "open xxxx" works for me.

If you're on KitKat 4.4 and go to your Google search app and type in "OK GOOGLE EVERYWHERE" without quotations then click search. Then back up one page. Go to search settings then voice you will now see the option to "manage voice" turn it on the click "agree". Then back in settings/voice click " hot word detection" and then keep checking every option and you will have to teach your voice by saying "OK GOOGLE" 3 times. Once completed you can say "OK GOOGLE" any where and search pops up. In any app it doesn't matter where. And you don't have to be on the Google Now Launcher. Check it out. Its pretty cool.
I noticed after enabling that I cannot use the camera to record. It says "cannot start recording while other application is using audio".
Fresh 4.4.2 from the back to stock guide no root just a fresh phone.

Oh wow. So that's why I'm getting that error too. It never dawned on me that's what it was. Cool. Well not really that sucks. I've got the google now launcher on there too. I'm gonna try it. See if same results
The video recorder still doesn't work with the Google Now Launcher. I downloaded from Google market the "Google Camera" and it works. Video, still pick , and sound during playback. With the Google Now launcher. I haven't tried it on stock launcher.

Whenever I open a message In hangouts directly from the moto display screen, it automatically goes to the top of the thread rather than the bottom where the new message is.
This does not happen when opening hangouts from the Android lockscreen or when the phone is unlocked, so I'm assuming it's a moto display issue. Anyone else have this?

I have this happen but not all the time. It also happens sometimes on my nexus 4 and 7, so I think it is a Google bug that came with the new material design version of hangouts.

It happens every time for me. It's annoying, but if you got to read the message when you were on moto display and know what your reply is going to be you can just type it in and hit enter and it jumps to the bottom of the thread. Definitely annoying though.
Ok I usually am good at fixing things like this or searching it out but this has been a fail.
I'm using nova launcher on my s5. I'm trying to set the home button long press to the standard "voice search"
Every method I have tried results in failure and I get the same result: google search will pop up... but it's not voice ready. It's just sitting there with the "say "ok google" search screen.
I'm trying to accomplish the result of selecting voice search from app tray.
Basically I want a hands free option almost for the long press without saying ok google
Seems simple enough..... but not

Has anyone experienced any of these problems:
1) when you drag down to refresh gmail the little round icon which animates to show it's busy gets left behind with a dot in it?
2) when google photos is saving after an edit sometimes the "saving" message doesn't go away and you have to swipe the app away in the task manager to wake it up. It has saved it, though.
3) Sometimes it pops up little "xxx has been closed" messages on stuff like the stock music app (which I've never actually used). Perhaps this is memory management at work?
4) In firefox it sometimes pops up the "copy/paste" message when i'm typing in the url bar. It pops up for no reason and you have to press back to get rid of it, then go and click in the url bar again.
5) Newly installed apps don't always appear in the play store. You can search for them, and you can open them a few time or wait or something...not sure what makes them finally turn up in the list to be honest.

I use an app called Mood for all my SMS messaging and really like it. It is working perfectly on my V40, but every morning at the same time I am getting a spam message in the Messaging app and the notification goes to my smart watch. It is really annoying , but I do not know how to stop it. The message does not come to the Mood app, just to Messaging. There is also no apparent way of blocking it in Messaging. The phone will not let me uninstall or disable the Messaging app. I think I am pretty much out of luck, but though I would ask all you people at XDA. If anybody would have a solution, somebody here would!
Edit: There is a "mute" option in Messaging that I just activated for this message. Did not notice this before. I will find out tom morn if this works!
Long click on the app icon, tap on the i in circle option, go to permissions and untick every one of them. Then, go to storage and wipe data and cache. That should do it. While you're there, you may also want to disable it, undo every access the app possibly could have. Whittle it down to nothing more than taking up space in the system partition

I did all of that, plus installed an app called Package Disabler for LG devices, disabled Messaging in it, and I am still getting this message every morn. The mystery deepens!
Sounds like a 'push notification' from an app, not a regular text message.

Verizon model? Is the spam message related to the app or something else?
If you get another notification, long press it in the notification screen and disable notifications from the app.
Using Android Messaging app and never had this issue.
