[Suggestion] [ROM] Community ROM - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys, I was thinking about making a ROM from the suggestions of our community members. A ROM which will bring out the full capabilities of our device. A ROM with high performance as its goal. I invite all our members to contribute to this project. If you don't know to develop, you can still be a tester,etc...
Guys you can also post link to the features,MOD,App you want to see in our ROM

How will you do that if we have no kernel sources?

It is not a short term project, a long one. right now we can use the stock ROM as a base then we can use CM when we get it. The goal is to get more members to contribute so that we can get something cool.

Multi windows would be nice and or a theme engine

I will continue the work of this project after we get Android Lollipop update or CM 11.

Sorry to ask for this, I know I should install and test for myself the rom,
But I just would like to know how is the battery life on this rom?
What about the power button? Does it work properly? Because I had this issue on android 4.3 based rom's.
And the camera? Clear images and sharper?
Thanks in advance!
Best Regards from Brazil
By the way, in my opinion android 4.2.2 is the most stable atm

Build that we currently have ported by Demetris is 4.2.2 and for me it is the best custom rom out there.Camera and battery are great even with stock app and stock kernel.Alwayse switching between MIUI and LiquidSmooth.Flash it and test is for couple of days yourself and see if you are satisfied.
Greetings from Serbia
what bugs does it have?

Test it or read the last few posts of the rom thread.
Not that hard, is it?

it's also not hard for the devs to just put them in the OP but they all seem scared to admit there are bugs on this forum

@dimi89 Dimi! Thank you again! You have already answered me on another post, and again here, with the same education and niceness

It's even easier for YOU to test it yourself. Backup your current setup and flash it. Most of the mentioned bugs aren't even for everybody and it is actually quite hard for the devs to make a full list of bugs which occur for every single user.
If you don't agree with that it's your fault. The devs are doing an awesome job here and they do it because they want to.

In my honest opinion, bugs should be on the OP if they are known bugs. It's a matter of structure and information. But that's just me
From what I understood, carbon is a "fork" from Liquid and I think it's a compilation from source and not a port, right? If so, is it possible to compile Liquid from source as well ?
This question is for someone who knows or a developer

They stated that Carbon rom doesnt have anything to do with liquid team. Also if you look at title on older liquid builds by demetris you will see it says "Official" so i think it is possible to compile from source.Asked demetris long time ago about liquid future for our phone but still no answer.

No, they stated the following:
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. The team is composed of former members of Team Liquid who have forked the code in an attempt to bring greater speed, better coding, and full authorship to code. We are in no way affiliated with Liquid0624. The rom was forked at Liquid beta 3.2.1 and has since undergone major code changes and modifications.

They "forked" the code, although it was changed a LOT, a fork is a fork
Anyway, I'm gonna have a look later on see if Liquid can be compiled for our p880.
Thanks dimi :good:

No,THANK you man Someone sayed that all 4.2 builds are much better then 4.3 roms builds and i agree on that.
Far as I understood the source is published.
Will see what I can do during the weekend
https://github.com/LiquidSmooth/android
And yeah, I agree, I'm pretty happy with CM10. 1.3. Although I do miss the privacy features from 4.3.
Mods can lock and delete this since demerits answered our prayers and ported new version.

Cyodak?
It's too brutal cut.
My suggestion is Cyanodak.
The letter "o" connects both parts gently.
.
Anyway, in good taste would ask @iodak acceptance.
.
I don't understand. What are the benifits of this new Kernel version? If its better than official CM kernel, why don't you merge it directly?

There are some fundamental code changes that cant be in a mainline kernel.
And If not use them this kernel looses its essence.
Just what I've been looking for :victory:

What's new in this kernel?
any chance we get stock-based version of the kernel, since i suppose it has some issues with anykernel installation on stock? thanks
Iodak had a separate package for stock. I have to contact him for some help on the matter as I never messed up with stock kernel (I don't use stock ROMs)
soo im just gonna break the ice here , whoever created this; thank you. but can someone please tell me the whats different from iodaks v10?
i mean it works good but i was still wondering
Ok, I've read just about enough ridiculous bickering.
I'm gonna clean the thread of the useless OT, and quoted posts.
I will remind "ALL" members, if you have an issue with a post or thread, then please use the RP function to contact a Moderator. Posting arguments doesn't do anything but cause the Mod Team to come in and clean up.
"IF" you believe any "Kanging" is going on, then by all means contact Moderation with all the proof ready so the situation can be assessed. Don't just go smacking off stating "copy and paste" blah blah blah...... without any evidence to back it up. All that does is cause arguments and wastes Mods time.
Any more of this bickering, and infractions will ensue.....
Thank You

I will soon, it will be CM 11 based with some performance tweaks like SuperCharger, etc. It's my first ROM and I'm still downloading the Android source code so it will take time. First time I make a ROM hopefully I can release it haha
Anything, guys?

Need a little help.

OK so I plan to build us another great ROM for our device but I just need a few things.
1st) Can someone please point me to the device tree and kernel source to build android 5.1, all I could find was a bunch of cm11 stuff.
2nd) I need some developer support. I tried making a ROM before for a Samsung player and I was kinda left to do it alone so I would really appreciate some help.
I will be trying to make Bliss Pop ROM because it is fast, smooth and highly customizable. I'm going to attach a poll and I ask that the L90 users vote on which of the ROMS they want me to port. After this I look forward to making a custom kernal that's completely separated from the ROM and that can just be flashed in recovery.
I would love to make this for the D415, D405,D405N, and the D410. Thanks!

You can customize every kernel if you have the skills to. Use just the normal kernel on Quarx's github. https://github.com/Quarx2k/android_kernel_lge_msm8226/tree/cm-12.1

You should start with basics...
And learn, search, study by yourself.... You'll achieve nothing by asking for simple solutions...

I know the basics. And all that I am just trying to make a ROM that will work on all variants and will be something the users actually will want to use. I know how to develop a ROM.
Beanstalk! I loved using this back on my old Nexus One, and I forgot all about it until I pulled it out and attempted to resurrect it a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, that Beanstalk port was way to buggy to use, but I would really love to see it on the L90! I am currently really liking Resurrection Remix, but I wouldn't mind having two equally awesome ROMs to choose from.
I currently have no experience developing Android anything (very minimal experience with programming), but I wouldn't mind learning/helping if someone wants to point me in the right direction and won't laugh at any newbie mistakes. I could also be a tester as long as there isn't much likelihood of bricking the phone (have a d415, by the way).

CM 12.1 For S2

Could someone educate me on what it takes to get CM 12.1 on to the S2?
I understand that you have to root, install TWRP, and flash the ROM but who actually puts together CM 12.1 rom together and makes it compatible for the S2? Is it the official CM team or a developer on this forum who takes the time and energy to put it all together?
Thank you for your help in educating me......
There is no Cyanogen for our tablet for the moment
You can check here : http://download.cyanogenmod.org/
So it is the CM Team that takes the time, energy, and resources to put it together for the S2?
I will keep an eye on the CM website and hope they put something together soon. I wish I had someway to contribute but my skill set is very limited.
Thanks

No.. it takes someone with enough knowledge to build it for our hardware. I've never done it, but I'm attempting. Learning as I go... emphasis on attempting.
Okay - That makes sense.... I will help test if you get to that point.
Would be nice with cm12 but probably with lots of drawbacks. Samsung won't release source code of drivers and could be problematic with exynos nor will fingerprintscanner work.

CM is always buggy and lots of features wont work or plain buggy. Bloat is very minimal and works quite smoothly stock. Dont blame you if you like the "fun" of constantly flashing roms and waitkng for bug fixes.

Hey there. As a dev myself I will explain you the difference between official CM builds (build = the ROM) and unofficial builds. Official builds are made by the pros. The guys that are in the CyanogenMod group. They know how things work and patch them due their high knowledge. They will try to update the ROM regularly and fix it as well as they can. Then there are the unofficial builds from people like me. It depends what your skills are and with what board you are working (Exynos is a pain in the ass). Not to forget what version of android your device is currently running. Unofficial builds can be buggy and could take some time to get fixed. However devs will listen to the feedback of the community too.
