[Q] How to get Home/Time screen to stay on longer? - Samsung Galaxy Gear

I have the Gear Live and the Home Time Screen doesn't stay on long enough... just a few seconds.
How can I get it to stay on longer, like say a minute?

Hello?

You can change the screens timeout in the settings on your watch. Just click on screen in the settings menu.

[Q] Thoughts about Captivate Lock Key

Hello,
I just got a Captivate from AT&T, quickly I found that i need to press the lock key tens of times a day as I set display off at 30 sec.
Unblocking the phone does not bother me but I am concern if this sooner than later will break the lock button, so I would like to hear your comments with the 15 days I have to return the phone.
Also, is there any app that let me turn off the screen and re-activate the phone just touching the screen.
Thanks
Maybe try an application called Screebl?
It won't activate the screen when you touch it, but it will keep it alive while you're holding you're phone. So you can set your screen timeout to 15 seconds, but while your phone is tilted a certain way, it'll keep the screen on. It'll at least save you the need to push the power button to turn the screen back on while you're using it.
You might also be able to use Tasker to wake up the screen when the phone detects motion or held a certain way (but i'm not too sure about this)

I had an iphone for 2 years and pressed the home key for everything... on and home - so I am not to worried about the captivate.
Thanks for the comments
"no lock" on the market can disable the lock screen so that you can unlock with just the button. There is also a setting for the time before the screen turns off, I find one minute much better than thirty seconds.

I may be missing it but was hoping for a way that you could set the phone's screen to go off after X amount of time (say 1 minute) but still be able to just press the lock button to turn it back on), but for it to turn off and also passcode lock after Y amount of time (maybe 5 minutes) so that you don't have to either have the passcode lock off completely or on completely, but set on a certain amount of time...
I probably just made no sense, lol

you mean just like the iphone where passcode doesn't kick in till after the phone's screen has been off for a certain period of time (that you pick in settings).

Ummm yep, that's pretty much what I mean
If possible this would be great!
There is an app called lock delay in the market that will do what you are looking for.

Ooh, any idea how it interacts with no lock? I think I'll try it and see.

There is an even better app, that does EXACTLY what you are talking about. It's called Pattern Control, it's free from the Market as well. I use it now after trying about 6 different apps. Only problem is, it will NOT work on FroYo.

Well, I tried Pattern Control, and it does NOT do what I think is being said. On mine it said that since no pattern is set up, it can't do anything.
First we are not talking about the time before the screen dims and goes black. We are talking about the time before the screen goes into lock and requires a swipe (assuming there is no lock code on the phone) to get back to usable screen. Screen indeed may be black, and touch on power button brings up the "Phone locked" screen.
We want to be able to set the time before THAT lock happens to be longer. Ok if screen goes to black as set in Settings>Sound and Display>Screen Timeout, but we want it to still be unlocked (until the lock time we set is reached) so that when brought back to life before the lock time expires, no swipe is needed.

The screen light on when i ....

The screen is turning on when i lift my phone up from the table.
When i for example put my phone on a table, the screen is turning of about 30 second, when i pic my phone up the screen turning on automatic whitout any touch on a botton. Should it was like that?

display on the table or back (camera) on the table
I'll explain my question: although I'm assuming it shouldn't work that way (at least by default), if you have the display facing down, it might be waking because of the proximity sensor. As you lift the mobile from the table, it behaves the same as if you were moving it away from your face after a call, and wake the screen up.
Actually, this would be a nifty feature for many people, specially now, with JB lacking a way to use the capacitive buttons as notifications. Considering they probably lift the phone a few dozen times a day to check their messages/missing calls/emails and only a couple times to actually put it somewhere else (and even then they probably check the missing calls again), it would save them some time

I search for that on the "Store" but a few came up...
Maybe is a app feature, don't know.
What I know (in stock) is that if you set the screen to lock, after get locked and screen OFF, only power button is able to wake up the screen
allowing the slide to unlock.
mine comes on sometimes too, soon goes back off, dont bother me too much
After the update to Jelly Bean, my Display always gets activated for a few seconds when I receive a Message.
Is there anything I can do against this?
Or am I the only one with this "Problem"?

[Q] How can I get my Time home Screen to stay on longer?

Kind of pointless to not have it on long enough to look at it, especially when I'm trying to show the watch to someone.
You can select like I do screen always on.
Really there is little development on this device so it pretty much is what it is.

Screen always on is dimmed. I'm talking about when it is no dimmed, which is only for few seconds.
I want it on for at least one minute, before dimming.

william58 did you ever find a solution for this? Would be great to have a middle ground between having the watch on and burning battery

What is this screenshot feature?

It has happened to me like 5 or 6 times now. No idea how I initiate it, but I'd love to know so I can use it.
I'll just drag my finger along the screen and suddenly this line starts appearing under it. If I make circle or whatever, it does a screenshot of just what is inside the shape I've drawn.
It is annoying when it happens unexpectedly but it is also something I want to be able to use.

My phone does that sometimes too, I did see it the same way you did. A blue line when I draw my finger across the screen. I tested my knuckle and realised it was a function [emoji16]

How do you adjust the time the screen stays 'awake'?

My screen timeout is at ten minutes but the screen dims and turns off after 10 seconds and it's incredibly bothersome when trying to read an ebook for example. Have you encountered this? Any suggestions?
Edit: not a Always on display problem
Place AOD on schedule? So, not always on

It still dims after 10 seconds with the always on display off. Do you know of any setting that could change this in thynote9?
Are you using some power saving mode?
Doesn't AOD dim after a while after awhile so as not make the pixels burn unevenly long term? Just use a clock if you want it to be on long.

The problem is the screen dimming after ten seconds not the AOD display. I turned off the AOD display and it still dims too fast.

No,
Does this setting possible have anything to do with it. It used to be default 5 seconds for most phones. Is this possibly interfering with the dimming?

GO to Settings, advanced features and select 'Smart Stay' to on position.
Your screen will time out to whatever you've set it in display settings, but smart stay will stop that happening if it know you're watching something

That is better than before but still not what I want. I basically want the phone screen to be on until I turn it off or the amount of time I put on the screen timeout elapses. Is this just impossible on this expensive device?
Hi,
I'm afraid the max is 10min in screen settings.
The only other way is in developer options, then 'stay awake always' but this only allows this during charging(plugged in)
To enable dev option, you need to go to settings/about phone/software information, then tap build number around 7-8 times
KinScreen is great app for that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teqtic.kinscreen

This app is incredibly useful though I am worried about the battery usage. I'm going to use this. Thanks a lot!
