Display Problem on CM11 - LG Optimus 4X HD

I encountered display problems on my LG P880 when I updated to 4.1.2. I'm talking about these stripes on the screen like on this photo http://dl-1.va.us.xda-developers.co....jpg?key=uMRwlyKpJI8r3P5w_Li2bQ&ts=1412951971.
The issue goes away when I downgraded to 4.0, but I need a newer version on the phone, so I decided to try a custom ROM. I installed the official CyanogenMod 11 M10 snapshot, and I keep getting this problem, thought not as severe (I am getting the black stripes across the screen but not the "noise" elsewhere on the screen).
Is there a known solution to the problem rather than downgrading to 4.0?

[Q] screen problem

I just bought my Note used and found out theres a big problem with screen black and grays.
I've done some search and found that black clipping issue : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559800
But I think my problem is not that or its much worse. I'll attach a photo of my Note with that same gamma test pic as in the above topic.
When I bought the phone it had stock ICS installed. I installed first GB and then paranoidandroid JB That's when I noticed the probem. (Not earlier, because JB backgrounds show the problem better.)
I tried everything in settings but nothing helped. The oddest thing was when I one time opened the lockscreen, suddenly the screen was normal. I was happy with that but later the screen went bad again and nothing seems to help. I've tried different kernels and different roms (stock ics&gb, custom ics and jb).
It is so bad that no way i can watch photos or videos with my Note
Is there anything I can do?
just unroot back to stock n then take it to the Samsung ppl

[Problem] Xperia SP MIUI - Screen flickering

I recently got Xperia SP (less than day old) and upgraded it to Jelly Bean 4.3. However due to issues such lag and such I decided to install customs rom. I chose MIUI. Unfortunately due to my newer status I am not directly able to report this issue in the orginial SP MIUI dev thread
I encountered a problem with screen on MIUI build 4.3.7 installed from imanesaurus . I have attached a video file which shows the screen flickering issue. It is not really a whole screen-wide flicker, it's just localized flicker with varying magnitude of flicker. It seems this only happens on grey color as white and black seem to be fine. I do not know if this is a bug or hardware issue. From experience, I know cheap TN panel do this primarily on screen when it's producing grey color.
Has anybody encountered this issue? Is this a hardware issue or bug? I will also try different rom (FXP) and also see if going back to stock rom makes any difference.
Model Number: C5303
Android Version:4.2.2. JDQ39E
MIUI Version: 4.3.7
Thanks in advance guys.

hey buddy this bug is widely known it seems to be a hardware problem but it is not as it is not present in 4.1.2 hope sony will fix it in the new version that has been certified ! :fingercrossed: so if sony will fix then developers will fix it to
Are you using auto brightness? If so then this is the cause. On stock Sony 4.3 and even in 4.1 I have this problem. Sony has to create a fix for this

Lollypop touch screen issue

Having tried a few LP roms (loved them all) missed some of the Sony stuff mainly the camera I reverted back to 4.4.4 and I'm still having screen issues? Which makes me wonder if the problem lies outside the ROM and is hidden the boot.img? and because its newer when you flash an older ROM it doesn't update this, I'm no dev and was wondering if this could be the cause of the problem, like back when unlocking boot lost the camera. But this time its a screen bug. Has anyone else who have reverted back to KK from LP still got this problem?
Update, I think the problem lies in the .157 update as I updated to this before LP. I'm also wondering if phones affected by the yellow tinge are affected more by touch screen problems? As I have a yellowish screen. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated

Screen flickering and artifacts.

Hi All,
After updating to Oreo got this weird issue, screen flickers every, roughly 2 seconds. Wit the times it also starts showing some color artifacts, freezing some parts of the screen and eventually going to complete gray-to-black flickering only. Anyone experienced something similar?
I'm thinking it may not be Oreo upgrade related just (unfortunately) some hardware issue.
Cheers

I've had similar issue after updating to oreo.
Half screen displayed artifacts.
Nokia replied to me saying that there is a bug in display drivers. Probably gong to update it soon.
Had to send it back.
Replacement works fine.

The left half of my screen is covered with black/white/grey artifacts. Sometimes after resetting or going back to factory defaults the screen goes back to normal again.
Running Oreo on a 128gb Nokia 8. REally hope it is software related (driver?). So far installing the latest updates doen't fix the problem.
Switched back to my old Samsung Galaxy S6 but man I miss my 8 already.
I changed the motherboard and I got ghost touch problem then I change the lcd and everything seems fine to me
I don't think is sw problem
I have the same problem today. As i received a call, display start to flicker. As i have all imp docs in my phone as i relies on NOKIA , I am as nothing. Somehow I am able to reset to factory reset. phone start works, but I lost all my valuable datas. How can one relies on NOKIa, who was one of BEST
Bro I have a issue of red strip visible on egdes when we turn on night mode for long time with a grey background

Black crush / gradient banding issue in samsung note 9

Hello community!
I recently bought a samsung note 9 out of the love towards the note series. But, after 2-3 weeks of usage I started noticing that there are some issues in displaying darker shades of black. The gradients of blacks are not shown properly. Instead, bands are formed in different shades of black. I searched internet and found that it is called black crush. My display is perfectly fine and it is appears like some firmware/software problem rather than a hardware issue. I also saw many people complaining about the same issue with samsung premium phones like S9+, Note 8/9 etc. But it is very surprising that there is no result for black crush or gradient banding in xda forum for note 9.
Please help me here. I wanna know if this is an issue of my piece only or is there anyone with the same issue. (Do check your phone twice before saying no. You might miss to notice it). It is so sad that a premium phone like note 9 is having an issue like this. I also read that even the advanced note 10 also face this problem. So even an update sounds foolish. The black crush isssue is really annoying. Once we notice it, we'll see it everywhere and we cant unsee.
I can't put screenshot to explain as it is a processing problem. You can search google to understand black crush or I can take a picture, if needed, of my display showing it.
If the problem really exists, I think it is high time for Samsung to have a look at it.
Is it on Mar security patch or newer?

Im in the latest security patch (1st September 2020). Is there anyway to get rid of the black crush problem? Would it help if I try installing a custom rom?
I can't tell if custom rom could fix your problem or not but those with display discoloration issue mentioned that their problem haven't go away with newer security patch(Aug/Sep).
If you've no plan in using samsung pay, you could try custom rom but rooting will break this function forever. There are workaround for other functions(at least in rooted mode), but not for samsung pay.

I was thinking about installing another OS. But, I'm not feeling to do it, as rooting permanently trip Knox. Do you know if the black crush issue is a h/w or s/w problem? Is there any fix for this? Will rolling back the OS to any previous version can help removing it?
I don't know if it's s/w or h/w but most people with display discoloration issue(not sure if similar as yours?) said s/w. Better just wait for newer firmware base. Those security patches probably with old bootloader/base that's why the screen issue persists.

It appears to be a software issue for me too, rather than a hardware one. Thanks for your advice. I'm gonna take it and wait for some time for an update from samsung, without unlocking the bootloader.
