How do you think the q&a thread is automatically created when someone with less than 10 posts asks a question in a development thread? A bot does it.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
Yeah the Q&A thread got created automatically. I solved it by myself. In the first post of multirom theyres an old version linked, reading trhough the whole thread showed me that theyres a newer one "multirom-20141002-v28x-UNOFFICIAL-yuga.zip" which works perfectly =)

To format system of second ROM you must delete second ROM.
For update ROM, just wipe cache, dalvik, and flash ROM and gapps and eventually an kernel of your choice.
If you really want to format it and keep your data you could use titanium backup for your apps or make data only backup in twrp. Delete ROM, install fresh ROM via add ROM menu, and restore via titanium backup or twrp data restore .
BTW this is Q&A thread for multirom now.

Unable to install MIUI as secondary
Hi All,
Have working MultiROM TWRP and MultiROM, Carbon for Yuga as primary and CM11 as sec. Now trying to add MIUI V5 to secondary with no luck. After flash, while booting getting this error: "Shutting down MultiROM to avoid data corruption". Press POWER to restart.
As I have no access to reply or ask in thread, posting question here. Please help if any one got success in having MIUI or any stock ROM has secondary.
Thanks

You have to flash miui as primary rom (in primary twrp).. But first.....
Also download hodor kernel, after installing miui dont reboot system and flash hodor on top of it,this way you will still have multirom twrp,
Dont freak out the aroma installer of miui is in chineze just hit the next button on the right until you can select your model,
Beware, BE ON WIFI cause miu wil ask alot of data and dont verify your sim, because it wil send a sms to china so you have to pay for that,
Btw first boot will defenitly bootloop, dont be afraid i have that aswel, some scripts arent compatible i guess so everytime you boot in a secondary rom and back in primary(miui ) it will fail the first boot attempt and de second atempt will succeed,
Good luck and dont forget.....be on wifi and have a lappie nearby just in case or a nandroid or other roms to flash on phone

Thanks a lot @demon2112!!
for detailed steps.. Now my Yuga has MiUi as primary and Carbon as sec!! Thanks a lot again... :good:
---------- Post added at 01:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:07 AM ----------
For those who wanna have Stock ROM in MultiROM.. you need to first decide-that you want stock ROM as Primary or Seconday.
I had CM has primary and Carbon as sec.. Wanted to have MiUi also has secondary. However I chose it to be as primary. Remember I have not removed my secondary ROM while performing below actions.
1. If as Primary, Then you can follow below instructions. This is what I did based on @demon2112's instructions:
- Boot into recovery, flash kernel for Stock ROMs - I flashed Hodor Kernel for my Yuga
- Factory Reset wipe from recovery
- Started off with frest Stock ROM installation (here I chose MiUi V5)
- After ROM Flash, flashed Hodor Kernel again
- Restart System > Then Boot into MiUi > complete setup > Reboot to recovery again
- Now flashed, MultiROM V28 (for stick only from oliver) which has MultiROM bootloader and flashes Modified TWRP aswell.
- Reboot, There I see my MultiROM back again with MiUi as primary and Carbon as secondary.
2. If you want Stock ROM as secondary over CM or Carbon as primary. You need to spend lot of time. Which involves
- Stock ROM as primary first, take a TWRP backup
- Then flash CM or Carbon which supports MultiBoot (here you will loose Stock primary - but having backup)
- Now in MultiROM TWRP, add backedup ROM as secondary.
There is jediRAMA who got success in this method, link to post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55187246&postcount=177
Thanks a lot @Olivier @demon2112 and @JediRAMA

Or you can just swap primary with secondary roms in the swap menu, havent tryed that yet but i guess it wil fail like al the other stock based roms that will be on secondary

Was planning to try that.. After work may be.. But yes I do have the same feeling it might fail as the Carbon ROM which am using is not support for multi boot.. Any way will give a try and update on how it goes..
No dont do it...the bugs isnt carbon related... Its stock related because is uses the stock boot.img and that gives problems when trying to gey it on secondary
I tryed already
Just set bootmanager to autoboot the secondary rom and your golden,or dont autoboot and choose every reboot, that is what i do
I had pa beta 4 on secondary when i installed a custom kernel on it all my roms booted into my primary rom.what i did.
Twrp-advanced-multiboot-list rom-select rom- flash zip and rebooted dis i juat forgot something or did i had just badluck
I have been using hodor kernel with criskelo's 7.2 (4.4.4 _ .283) rom ... according to op hodor kernel comes with twrp 2.8 . Bt when I try to enter into the recover it always brings me to philz cwm recovery. I have tried different key combination during boot bt always cwm recovery.I want to know why and how can I use twrp.i have tried to flash twrp via fastboot bt nothing happens..always boots up with philz recovery.
Flash the recovery using the app. If that still doesn't work, pull the file "boot.txt" while you are in recovery:
Code:
adb pull boot.txt
and paste its content here or upload it.

THIS OP IS OUTDATED! WIP!
Hello everybody!
You might or might not have already heard of MultiROM, THE multi-boot mod for the Nexus 7. I have recently found it and have decided to port it for our device.
First of all, it is a very initial release now. Though I have tested multiple cases and didn't find any problem except those in the bug list, bugs can arise. Do have a backup! Also, do read through the whole OP and 2nd post! If you don't understand something, rather read again and/or ask!
For more information on how it works and what it does, I suggest that you read the first few posts in the original thread. Those are very detailed and well-written posts that explain MultiROM in general. Installing roms to USB and Ubuntu/Ubuntu Touch of course doesn't work for our device atm.
Installation
The device must not be encrypted!
You need to flash the modified TWRP recovery that has MultiROM extensions. My version is based on the latest sources with gordon0001's device-specific modifications included. You can keep this recovery if you don't want to use MultiROM anymore and you like TWRP, because the MultiROM extensions don't interfere with other functions, even if the boot sector is not injected.
You have to flash a kernel that is capable of Kexec-hardboot. I compiled iodak's v07 CM kernel and official CM kernel with the patch, choose one of them. I have noticed an approx. 3 sec. vibration at boot with iodak, that's why I have included official CM kernel too.
Finally you have to flash MultiROM.
Links
You can find everything at http://d-h.st/users/Adam77Root/?fld_id=22980#files.
MultiROM_TWRP_X3.zip: The modified TWRP recovery from latest sources with gordon0001's device-specific changes and MultiROM support.
CM_kernel_patched.zip and iodakX3_v07CM_patched.zip: Official and iodak CM kernels with Kexec-hardboot patch.
iodakX3_v07_patched.zip: iodak stock kernel with Kexec-hardboot patch.
MultiROM_P880_v12.zip: The actual MultiROM package. Contains the latest version of Trampoline (the init binary of the system) and MultiROM binaries with all the needed device-specific changes. Even Pong works pretty smooth.
x3_hardboot.diff: Kexec-hardboot patch for 3.1.10 kernel.
mrom_p880.patch: Device-specific changes for Trampoline and MultiROM.
ui.xml: UI layout definition for TWRP for 720x1280 screens with MultiROM additions.
Known bugs
Reboot to recovery doesn't work.
USB tab doesn't do anything. This is because USB host mode (OTG) doesn't work on our device. Will reach out to kholk regarding this.
Sometimes in landscape mode, the default selected rom gets booted on the first touch. This is yet to be investigated.

General use
Some notes and instructions regarding general use
For now, I have only provided patched 4.2.2 CM kernels. This means, you have to be on CM or CM-based rom with Android version 4.2.2. Don't try it with stock at the moment in any way. It won't work, but is on the to-do list. As Kexec-hardboot will reach out to devs, it will be supported in every rom ultimately.
In the next two examples, I will refer any official, unofficial, or CM-based roms as CM. Keep this in mind.
I use the word 'injected', because MultiROM is actually injected into the boot partition. It works on any kernel that is capable of doing Kexec-hardboot (and if you don't want to use different kernel (i.e. you will use kernel sharing), it will work on unpatched kernels as well).
I may refer to non-shared kernel method as Kexec(-hardboot) method.
Example scenario of multi-booting CM with CM and kernel sharing
You are on CM with MultiROM-capable recovery, patched kernel and MultiROM-injected and you want to install e.g. CarbonRom as second.
Boot into TWRP, navigate to Advanced->MultiROM and select 'Add ROM'. Since the base rom is CM, you can share the same kernel. It will be faster as there will be no hardboot needed.
The installation steps are easy and it doesn't take more time than a normal installation.
Example scenario of multi-booting CM with CM and different kernel
You are on CM with MultiROM-capable recovery, patched kernel and MultiROM-injected and you want to install e.g. CarbonRom as second.
Boot into TWRP, navigate to Advanced->MultiROM and select 'Add ROM'. Select 'Don't share'.
Continue with installation.
Now, since the target kernel (that is installed with the rom) is very likely not patched, you will have to flash one of my linked kernels to that rom. Do this by selecting 'List roms', selecting the desired rom, than 'Flash ZIP' and flashing one of the kernels I have patched.
You can only share the kernels between the same Android version (i.e. stock base->only stock rom can use shared kernel, 4.2 base->only 4.2 rom can use shared kernel, 4.3 base->only 4.3 rom can use shared kernel, etc.), but this is not the case with the Kexec method. Just keep in mind that for example even if your base rom is CM, for a stock secondary rom you have to flash a stock patched kernel.
The build
Some notes about the build
x3_hardboot.diff: This is the Kexec-hardboot patch for the 3.1.10 kernel. Since it is needed for target kernels as well, I would like to reach out in this post to @arararagi, @demetris_I, @iodak, @kholk, @laufersteppenwolf and @Pesach85 (in no particular order, this is how your threads are in order in Original Android Development forum right now). I and fellow users would be grateful if you could include the patch in the kernel so they can be used as both host and target kernels as well. UPDATE: It doesn't reserve one more megabyte before ram_console from now on.
mrom_p880.patch: This contains all the device-specific patches that are needed to get MultiROM booting and working on the P880. It is built on top of the latest git changes as of today. It also contains some comments about multiple devices compatibility, those are reminders for Tasssadar.
ui.xml: UI layout definition for TWRP for 720x1280 screens with MultiROM additions. Needs to be put into TWRPdir/gui/devices/720x1280/res/. The recovery I have created is based on the latest MultiROM TWRP with @gordon0001's device-specific changes.
You can find links to the upstream MultiROM and MultiROM TWRP in the original thread.

You can't install to external SD. It could be modified to allow it, but there would be a huge performance decrease. Literally, roms would be lagging too much.

Hi
i have xperia z c6602 with stock 4.4.4 rooted ROM (10.5.1.A.0.283)
now i've heard about dual recovery (PhilZTouch N CWM) and i'm seeing it strange idea because i see that just one recovery can do the job !
so, i just want to know what are the advantages/disadvantages of dual recovery
if it's safe and good to deal with only one recovery, which one to install
thanks in advance.
cheers...
The dual recovery is the only choice if you're on a locked bootloader. Just use the recovery you prefer and don't worry about there being another one installed as well.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
okay, i have an unlocked bootloader and i just want to work with only one recovery
which one to deal with ?
I don't understand the problem. If you don't want to use the other recovery, then don't. It literally does not matter at all if there's another one installed. Just don't boot into the one you don't want to use. Simple.
Use this if you just want a stock kernel with recovery and no other modifications.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
okay, if it really does not matter at all, for which reason it is present and installed on the device.
why the developper managed to deal with this idea ?
have any user woke up one day and he said "okay today i'm gonna work with the second recovery today ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the recovery is used to just make backups and install some mods with just some few additional options
Some people prefer a different recovery to other people, so they have a choice. Why does it matter to you? Don't use the second recovery. The end.
Wow. Some people worry about the strangest things.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
nothing was made with coincidence
every thing has a reason
the developper was managed to made a dual recovery just for a small reason that you don't know, because of that you said that i can just work with one of the recoveries and let the other one
in my opinion, i think that the reason of making dual recoveries is that some custom roms are not compatible with some recoveries (specially cwm)
so when we have dual recoveries, we can flash any custom rom using it's compatible recovery
that's the idea that i have
now as i'm on stock rom and i just need a recovery to do backups and wipes (maybe installing some mods later)
so i just need one single recovery
so which one is good, stable (like 4ext recovery on my old htc sensation)
Well, you obviously know better than everyone else here, so why don't you just try them out for yourself.
I'm done wasting my time. Bye!

I flashed many ROMs in this forum. All done with *dual* recovery. No problems at all. Except the ROM bugs.
The developer made it like that so you can choose any of the recoveries. They all will work for any thing.
2 better than 1! If you need more info ask @[NUT] he is the developer of the dual recovery...

Some people like TWRP, some like Philz CWM touch, almost no-one likes vanilla CWM. I don't think anyone likes cm-simple recovery. I just included the most popular 2 recoveries to cater for the majority of users' preferences.

u unlock ur bootloader and u fastboot flash included kernel that's all u need; all custom/cm kernels has a recovery pre installed in it.
and don't forget the golden rule...always backup data before playing with your device

I've been using CM12 Sabermod for a few months now but lately my phone has started to lag a lot, I've experience the same problems with other Lollipop based ROMs too. I never had this problem in 4.3 but I had to move to 5.1 since some apps that I use daily required KitKat or higher.
So my question is - is there any good KitKat ROM for XSP? If yes, how can I get the best performance for multitasking?
Before change to KK, I should ask: Do you already flash the most recent build?
Another is: Have yout try move apps to SD card?
Another one: Try to clean Cache on the Settings -> Storage (and then Reboot)?
And Clean cache of some apps too manually.
Remembering that to flash a the most recent build, you doesnt need to Backup, BUT... Just for convenience do it.
If none of those above options function well for you, indeed there is a stable and fast KK to our lovely (and hated) SP.
Options I recommend: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64991746&postcount=1320
Or
Last release from CM Team
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=huashan&type=snapshot
Both are great in performance and multitask like the JB 4.3 Stock.
Is there a good one which has Stock features? As in it has the basic Sony apps. They were quite nifty.

I dont think so :/
I can recommend snapshot KK too which im using right now http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=huashan&type=snapshot with kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764939
Another good one was http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...anogenmod-11-locked-bootloader-users-t2868398 before I unlocked bootloader.
I havent tried CM13 but cm12.1 never worked out for me properly, either low amount of ram/no deep sleep or other problems such as wifi.
Ok I'll try them out. But I'm looking for something based on the Xperia stock OS.

What apps from the stock Xperia ROM do you want to find in another ROM?
I'm using the KK based MIUI 7 port, and it's been good so far. Check the thread.

Just get Xposed Installer from here : http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer , install it and open the app -go to Framework-select Install/Update - reboot the phone. Done :good:
Tried using CM11 snapshot and William's kernel as adviced by one of the members above. Currently phone hangs and the screen bleeds and then reboots. Really sad. Any advice?
hey guys i`ve just flashed latest CM11 snap shot rom. but its too laggy specialy on instagram and cause Force close ,
what can i do for it ? . what is the best kernel for this rom ??
Hi, try OmniX ROM - fast, a lot of free memory and no lags at all (I used that with stock kernel):

Hi, a clean wipe should be enough. I did factory reset / wipe data, format system, cache and data, wipe dalvik, then install in that order:
OmniX-Rom, recommended gapps, SU-update. Please confirm to fix super user when asked, then reboot into system. First boot will take some minutes (less than 5).
Which recovery do you recommend I flash for this?

I think I know what ROM you need: search for z3experiencesp (the kitkat version).

I would try that rom if the led bar was working exactly as it does in the stock firmwares (you know, receiving phone calls, viewing images, making a call etc.). There isn't a way to duplicate that functionality level since it's cyanogenmod-based, right?
Hi guys,
just finished building TWRP 3.0.2-0 for the Z5
Download
TWRP-for-CM (folder)
recovery_3.0.2.img (fastboot flashable file)
Source:
https://github.com/omnirom/android_bootable_recovery (TWRP, recovery - place in bootable/recovery-twrp)
https://github.com/CyanogenMod (CyanogenMod source)
https://github.com/Sony-Kitakami (place in .repo/local_manifests )
Build:
Code:
source build/envsetup.sh
lunch cm_sumire-userdebug
mka clobber && mka recoveryimage RECOVERY_VARIANT=twrp
Thanks to @moonbutt74 for bearing with me and all my questions :silly:

Sorry, I misspoke xD
I flashed it as a recovery btw.
But, by "it works Successfully", what did you mean ? You can access on the recovery or you can boot on CM13 ?
Indeed, my device power off not after the flash of the kernel and the recovery, but AFTER the flash of the CM13 + GApps.
So, if by "success" you meant that you can boot totally on CM13, which ROM and which kernel did you flashed ?
But if it concerned the recovery only, this is good, I have the same result than you x)

And Gapps you can find it in the first page of the above thread
Okay, I don't understand why, but for booting on CM, I had to reflash the kernel !
Without it, my device power off one second after the Sony logo
It finally works, thanks you
Hi,
Are you able to make one for the Z5P??
some of us are still stuck at ver 2.8.
also, i have used your root kernel program with the lastest twrp and it can boot into recovery, since i am using a custom kernel, i think it will be nice if there is a flashable img file for the latest twrp.
Many thanks in advance.
Will this work with my new Z5, Android 6.0.1, totally stock?

1 - fastboot flash recovery x.img
2 - I think this recovery is for CM ROM
You can search in the android development section for stock ROM , it works on all firmwares
Hi guys, noob question here: I have twrp old version, can I flash this in recovery?
And also I want to try the xz rom but tried flashing and didn't work, it is my understanding that it was caused by the old twrp and using this I'll be able to use that rom.
Thank you for your help.
