Hey all,
Will xposed work on 4.4.4 on the new moto x? I'm unlocked and rooted, but remember there were issues with xposed and KitKat. I would try it and see if I soft brick, but CWM doesn't do backups yet....so I'm a bit hesitant to try
Thanks all

So... quick question (major noob when it comes to porting apps/roms). Since Motorola has all of the featured apps on the play store, are we able to flash CM and install the updates (Assist, Active Display, Motorola Connect, and Touchless Control) to the Moto X? Is this even possible? Could the apps possibly be added into a custom variant of CM/AOKP/PACMAN ROM for the Moto X? I would assume that the apps, since the hardware makes it possible, could be ported somehow into a custom ROM.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Motorola+Mobility+LLC.
Again, major noob when it comes to this stuff but I figured I would ask.
Not possible.
But if you want a VERY close to CM-like experience, do this:

Wow thanks for the link to this post. I might go ahead and do this. Stuck on US Cellular and am still iffy about unlocking bootloader and voiding warranty.
Now that I think about it I never used the warranty on any phone.... might be worth the risk.
No need to unlock the bootloader! Just follow the rooting method listed

Could you elaborate please? I'm just curious because I thought of trying this out myself.
For the same reason that you can't use touchwiz /sense stuff on an aosp rom

I was on 4.4 and downgraded to 4.2. Rooted using Rockmymoto and also ran MotoWPnomo.
Can i install a recovery and flash a ROM? Wasn't sure and wanted to ask before I fubar my phone.
Its not that simple because of the locked boot loader.
First of all why do you need a custom ROM on this phone? its vanilla android with a few good enhancements that you will lose with a custom ROM.
With a locked bootloader your only alternative is to use safestrap. The developer choose not to make a thread on xda. You will have to visit rootzwiki and find it. However, you should really understand the danger of having a locked bootloader and messing with safe strap and custom Roms. If something goes bad or you don't know what you're doing you might end up with a brick.
You should do a little more research before continuing. But now that you have root access xposed framework is really all you need. Combined with gravitybox there's no reason to mess with safestrap or custom Roms.
The Search bar is your best friend.

You need to have an unlocked bootloader to install a custom recovery and to flash a rom. All models should be unlockable except the AT&T and Verizon models. However, they do offer developer editions that are unlockable. If you have a device that can't be unlocked, you could try safestrap. Safestrap acts like a customer recovery by allowing you to flash roms made for safestrap to rom slots on your phone to while avoiding touching the primary system. You can also make backups and restore. If your bootloader is locked this would be your only option to flash roms.

i agree the Moto X is a great phone from factory.
Install Titanium Backup Pro and remove the bloat ware
then install Xposed Framework with Gravity Box for 4.4 and customize boom no reason to install custom rom's

I am rooted and stock. Does Xposed with GB keep you stock? Also, does the upcoming 4.4.2 update unroot you?

Yes to all. 4.4.2 will almost certainly kill root.

Yes. Its essentially just an app. So it works on the stock ROM , but allows you make custom ROM modifications to the stock ROM.

Thanks guys. I ended up rooting on 4.4 and installed Xposed. I just wanted a few tweaks, mainly lockscreen ring.
Which module changes the color of the statusbar icons??

Awesome!! Thanks so much.
What's the best way to change the font?? I read a few things but it seems as though some people run into issues.
I have two moto x, and both flash works fine but the timing is well before the shutter snaps... what the heck is going on??? anyone else with this issue?
Yeah, I've had that problem since the 4.4.2 update came out. I'm hoping that it's fixed in 4.4.4

I have it with 4.4 and 4.4.2
The flash certainly works better in 4.4.4, but the camera still leaves something to be desired.

Its high time that developers start making custom ROMS for Moto G 2014 XT1068 Dual-SIM. Can someone port the ROMS from Moto G 2013 to Moto G 2014 edition?
How many of you want custom ROMS for your device? Comment below and show your support.
I am ready to be the tester for the ROMS

I'm not a developer, AFAIK, the internal components of both Moto G versions are almost equal, so it shouldn't be hard to port from one device to another. I'll get mine on my birthday (Oct 31) and I hope there are at least some start to custom rom development till there
Good luck for us!

Custom roms can come only come if motolola releases its kernel sources
Is this phone overclockable?
Do we know when will Motorola release the kernel souces ?
Does anyone knows how long did it take to Motorola to release the first Moto G kernel sources after they launched the phone ?

For moto g 1st gen kernel sources were released after 2 months
So i think it might released after moto g updated to android L
yes , i have been looking for custom ROM s for my moto G 2nd gen , also ,hope it comes out soon , this is my first android phone ,
With Xposed and Gravity Box (KK) module, I don't really need a custom rom. That may change when custom roms are the only way to get Android updates.
I heard a lot about this Xposed module... When I installed it, it didn't reach the pleasure or customizations of a custom ROM :/

I have bad experiences with Xposed (it slows down everything in every phone I ever had)
Custom ROMs are better IMO, better battery, better performance, and no Xposed crap around
I'm also looking for Custom Roms for my phone and I am ready to be the tester for the ROMS
Hi guys, do we have now further information about when will Motorola release the kernel sources ?

I too would like to know what rooting method you followed.
Certainly
I used this method from XposedGeek: http://www.xposedgeek.net/2014/09/root-motorola-moto-g2-titan-2nd-gen-2014.html
Worked perfectly on my Moto G 2nd Gen (Dual Sim)

I have no Idea if there is any way to tell if you've unlocked the Bootloader on the device itself, but the fact remains that Motorola now knows that you requested an unlock-code, and those are made per device, so they can check up on it.
Most phone-stores won't bother asking Motorola though, so I think you might be able to get a phone replaced under warranty. Take this with a grain of salt though
Hi Guys,
My Moto G 2014 is on the way so I decided I will get started on the XDA Community
I have done pretty much everything with my current phone like S-OFF, custom recovery, custom radio, tons of ROMs etc.
AFA I see the unlock process is pretty standard, and since it's official from Motorola, it should work with dual sim versions. I don't think motorolla devices need S-OFF. So only the issue of custom ROMs remain. While I see complete guides for Moto G 2014 root and custom recovery, I cannot find many ROMs that seem to be compatible with the Dual Sim version.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Specifically, I am looking for kernels that allow overclock and support the Dual Sim version. Android L update is promised by motorolla, so a ROM providing just this will do for me.
Hi guys is there a mod for moto g 2014 to add this feature ??
I am running on lollipop (5.0-5.0.2).
thanks guys.
i have been searching for ages.... nothing..not even with kk, we lack of kernel devs....And lollipop kernel source is not realeased(yet i think)
I've tried it and its sooo usefull. Unluckly not everyone think the same.
yes it's not about app that ignite this feature ,, I search about this thing.
it's about kernel ( I think we should wait longer to support this feature on lollipop),
but i think this will work on kk if you have installed xposed on kk (which need root already)
A stable working ROM comes first. Devs are working on cm12 and cm11 too!
