Greetings guys; do you know of a working mod in jellybean or afterwards in which the camera is properly working?
I've been getting not compatible version OS lately with some downloaded apps, current version is gingerbread, but i dont want to lose the camera and that happens with the avaiable mods on any forum.
A little help please.

Huh?
The answer is no. It's because TI didn't want to provide source code for the camera and Motorola doesn't want to release any kind of update to 4.anything and Verizon would rather see a new device sold than update an older phone.
Its high time that developers start making custom ROMS for Moto G 2014 XT1068 Dual-SIM. Can someone port the ROMS from Moto G 2013 to Moto G 2014 edition?

I'm not a developer, AFAIK, the internal components of both Moto G versions are almost equal, so it shouldn't be hard to port from one device to another. I'll get mine on my birthday (Oct 31) and I hope there are at least some start to custom rom development till there
Good luck for us!

Custom roms can come only come if motolola releases its kernel sources
Is this phone overclockable?
Do we know when will Motorola release the kernel souces ?
Does anyone knows how long did it take to Motorola to release the first Moto G kernel sources after they launched the phone ?

For moto g 1st gen kernel sources were released after 2 months
So i think it might released after moto g updated to android L
yes , i have been looking for custom ROM s for my moto G 2nd gen , also ,hope it comes out soon , this is my first android phone ,
With Xposed and Gravity Box (KK) module, I don't really need a custom rom. That may change when custom roms are the only way to get Android updates.
I heard a lot about this Xposed module... When I installed it, it didn't reach the pleasure or customizations of a custom ROM :/

I have bad experiences with Xposed (it slows down everything in every phone I ever had)
Custom ROMs are better IMO, better battery, better performance, and no Xposed crap around
I'm also looking for Custom Roms for my phone and I am ready to be the tester for the ROMS
Hi guys, do we have now further information about when will Motorola release the kernel sources ?

I too would like to know what rooting method you followed.
Certainly
I used this method from XposedGeek: http://www.xposedgeek.net/2014/09/root-motorola-moto-g2-titan-2nd-gen-2014.html
Worked perfectly on my Moto G 2nd Gen (Dual Sim)

I have no Idea if there is any way to tell if you've unlocked the Bootloader on the device itself, but the fact remains that Motorola now knows that you requested an unlock-code, and those are made per device, so they can check up on it.
Most phone-stores won't bother asking Motorola though, so I think you might be able to get a phone replaced under warranty. Take this with a grain of salt though
Hi Guys,
My Moto G 2014 is on the way so I decided I will get started on the XDA Community
I have done pretty much everything with my current phone like S-OFF, custom recovery, custom radio, tons of ROMs etc.
AFA I see the unlock process is pretty standard, and since it's official from Motorola, it should work with dual sim versions. I don't think motorolla devices need S-OFF. So only the issue of custom ROMs remain. While I see complete guides for Moto G 2014 root and custom recovery, I cannot find many ROMs that seem to be compatible with the Dual Sim version.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Specifically, I am looking for kernels that allow overclock and support the Dual Sim version. Android L update is promised by motorolla, so a ROM providing just this will do for me.
I've tried CM 11 and it was decent, except for the app redraws at times. Any other KitKat based Custom Roms that give decent performance and battery life?
I've tried many Lollipop based ROMS such as CM 12.1 and Candy 5 ROM but they have app redraws and the phone charges very slowly on Candy 5 ROM. I haven't tried AOSP but in general I think stock KitKat 4.4.4 was faster and better than stock Lollipop 5.0.2.

Titan Prime 1.03 is a very stable Lollipop. No charging or redraw issues and it's stock based. There is a later version, but 1.03 seems to be the best.

According to me the best kitkat based rom you can use is stock rom itself.. It gives the best battery backup and best multitasking.. For battery life use Greenify and hibernate all the useless apps you don't use (I get around 5hrs+ of on screen time) and for multitasking use the RT Ram manager script by DiamondBond and choose supermultitasking option in it. After that install xposed with GravityBox so you can have all the cyanogen mod features! I'm using it since 3 months and yes I've tried all the lollipop and kitkat roms (including cm11)and byfar, stock rom is the most stable and battery efficient rom you can ever get.

The reason I'm looking for a KitKat based ROM is because I found that KitKat ran faster than Lollipop for me. I compared my friend's Moto G2 (running Lollipop stock) and my Moto G2 (running KitKat) and my phone opened up apps and everything evidently faster than his phone. My theory is that if stock lollipop is slower than stock kitkat, all custom ROMs based on Lollipop will be slower than ROMs based on KitKat.
I've used CM 12.1 as well as Candy 5 ROM (which was praised for its RAM management) but I got app redraws on both of these and battery charging was quite slow on the latter.
Anyway, I'll give Titan Prime ROM a shot and see how it goes. However, in case that doesn't work well, could you suggest a decent KitKat based ROM?
If it were me I'd do what the other poster said, stay on stock and root. For the simplicity of installing flashable zips like xposed, I would also install TWRP as a custom recovery.

Thanks, I'll do that...
Also, just because the 5.1.1 based custom ROMS (such as CM 12.1 and Candy 5 ROM) lag, is it right to infer that 5.1.1 stock will also lag (i.e. when it releases for Moto G 2nd gen) ?

I would think not. I personally don't use the CM based roms, for various reasons I don't care for them. Honestly though, I have had no lagging on the stock based roms. I do put Titanium Backup on first thing and debloat any rom I flash. Right now on 5.02 with transitions turned off in developer options, my phone is just as fast as it ever was in kit kat.

Thanks... Is there a specific reason that you turn off the animations? Does keeping them on give you any issues as such?
EDIT: Also, I should mention that majority of the app redraws I do face are when I press the home button whilst using Chrome (even though only 1 tab is open and no other major apps are in the background).
Try MicroMod by DiamondBond: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/rom-micro-mod-11-t3032290
Very smooth and stable tho not being a custom ROM. Just don't update apps from the play store and try expose for customization.

Well, @DiamondBond optimized the apps himself (compressed for less ram usage and better performance) and when you update them, the optimization is lost.
Still, this is (in my opinion) the best rom so far, very very fast, stable and smooth.
Thanks...
Also, is there any KitKat based ROM that lets you mark SMS/Text Messages as "read" in the notification popup itself? CM 12.1 and Candy 5 ROM offer this feature but they're both Lollipop based...

I didn't have any problems with animations, they just didn't add anything for me. I like instant and that combined with "faster than light" in Nova's settings gives me instant everything.

Chomp SMS lets you do that in stock Kit Kat. It's best feature that I lost in Lollipop was it auto enabling data to send or receive MMS, then disabling data. The developer wasn't able to offer that feature in Lollipop.

I am going to go one step further back and say stock Jellybean ROM. No kidding.
I have 2 1053-s - one I bought new (my "daily driver") and never upgraded from JB (when KK was released initially a lot of people complained about battery life and other issues). Another I bought used and it already had KK. I used the one with KK extensively for a week druing vacation and observed KK is less stable - had WiFi drop offs when downloading offline maps, also complete phone freezes when camera app was working. I never had these kind of problems (or any problems for that matter) with JB.
As for Lollipop - just see how long the thread "how to downgrade from Lollipop" is.
verizon wise, best rom is either kyrptonite 4.4.4(some prefer eclipse, both similar) or Modded LP 1060, both are flawless, at least for me.
Stock Kit Kat because it never gave me any headache.
5.1 only introduced bugs and bad battery.
I would say CM 12.1 is a close second, it has some cool features and the Ambient Display is an actual improvement over Moto Display, waving my hand over the screen to see the time is the best feature.

yes pal, lineageos is bug free even if it´s a nightly, just flash and see for yourself. don´t expect a blazing fast device, as it´s a 3 years old phone, but its totally daily usable (my current daily driver, just waiting to get used to the huawei p9 size i bought a couple weeks ago). head over the LOS thread here and see for yourself. plus you get OTA, wich is kinda nice...
Try Mokee Latest Nightly. U can Try Tesla and Validus too.
Thankyou so much all of u guys

That's because there's only a mere 886MB usable RAM out of which 450-500MB is always in use and parallel space needs about 150-200MB RAM so you can't do anything about that.
