Hi guys. I went to freeze the ATT Software update app but accidentally deleted it instead. Can someone post the apk and odex for me? Thanks.
Anyone? I downloaded the stock G900A NCE ROM but I do not see the software update app in the /system/app folder. Does anyone know where it is located? I would rather not reflash a rom just for this one app...
EDIT: Nevermind. I just found it. It's called wssyncmldm.apk in /system/priv-app

Well I installed the Honeycomb port today and since it doesnt do much I restored to my backup. The accelerometer didn't work so I flashed the stock firmware, kernel, ect.
So I am trying to update with the Sprint Galaxy Tab EA24 Flasher but it keeps failing. I think that it has to do with the Gallery app that I uninstalled a few days ago stupidly.
I have been trying to reinstall it and no luck. Help?
Edit: Market apps wont install. I wish there was an easy way to get all the way back to default. I do not care about saving my settings.
Edit: So I use Titanium Backup to uninstall the broken Gallery3D.apk that force closes, and push over another Gallery3D.apk that works via adb. Then when I try to apply the update.zup I downloaded I get the error message in the attached file below.
Edit: Followed instructions on last post on this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009926&page=8
Hey all I was browsing around other galaxy s devices forums stumbled across this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157. Now I downloaded the towel root and it worked great I'm not on the latest Ota but it should work with that as well. Make sure you use the latest so from here http://download.chainfire.eu/447/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r4.zip. I just extracted it and used the apk file with great success. No more flashing back and forth in odin.
Added TetheringProvision.apk use root explorer and go to system/apps/ and change the tethering apk and odex to .bak and paste the one posted here. Make sure to change permissions to rx-r-r restart phone and Hotspot should enable or at least it does here.

Just used it on mine and it worked just as advertised!
I have taken the latest OTA update (I was previously on the pulled 4.4.2 and then received the 60-someodd MB update last week).
Also adding in that the device still shows official on the status page. I didn't verify the knox counter for myself, but the tr author shows that it did not trip his.

Can you elaborate on the "change permissions to rx-r-r"? How do you do that?
Thanks.:good:

Firstly mount system in whatever file manager you use after giving it root access. Navigate to system/app long press on the apk. Select option to change permissions. On ES file Manager which I suggest you use, look at pic below it will show you what boxes to select.
I gave this a try on the newer NE9 with no luck. It doesn't get past the AT&T "verification" that I have tethering on my plan.
Any ideas?
Tried this on a stock I9295 running 4.2.2 but SU wont install binary as it says it cant. Tried Busybox installer and it says the phones rooted but fails when trying to install any busybox version. Anyone else tried on 4.2.2 with success?
EDIT : Tried again on stock 4.4.2 and it works perfectly

I believe this is for the i537 (USA AT&T version of the S4 Active) and not the international i9295 version
Success!! I was able to root and use the tethering application using the instructions above. I have the NE3 version.
It does ask you to call 611 when you turn on the hotspot though...but the it connects a few seconds later and stays on.
Is there a way to prevent the annoying message to call 611 when you turn on the tethering app?
Thanks again.
I've downloaded Cortina apk and Facebook apk and everytime I try to install, the install button doesn't work. Anyone also have this happen?

Ok call me stupid if you want but the thing is I deleted Google Download Manager from my Moto G Second Generation, thinking it was just a bloat-ware... The APK to re-install it is gone as well... (I got carried away with all that root power).
Now I can't use Google Play Store anymore... Didn't knew those two had a thing for each other...
I've searched for that open gapps project but apparently it don't have the download manager apk that I need... If I'm wrong pls advise!!!
Can anyone be kind enough to upload their apk somewhere so I don't need to flash my phone? Too many hours on installing **** already... I don't wanna do it again!!!
My Device is a Moto G Second Generation (2014) stock 5.0.2 Lollipop version, but rooted!
I appreciate already any help!!!

Although you kindly did everything I've asked for now I am into a new situation... I tried installing the APK you sent but, it says NOT INSTALLED after I click on install... I have root permission on my phone but I don't know how to give a root permission to open an APK file... Maybe using Root Explorer? maybe that's not the issue?

Try to move it with Root Explorer in /system/app. It may not install normally because the apk is not being installed in /system.
Don't forget to give the correct permissions on the apk.
My phone is running Android 4.2.2, so I think stock AOSP download manager can help on this!! PLEASE, COULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME EXTRACT STOCK AOSP 4.2.2 and upload it to any host? Please help me I got only this phone and really need it work correctly
Hey there, I know there used to be a way to just update an app via zip file or just installing but I really want to start using the newer versions of the messaging app and I cannot just download one from apk mirror and apply the update. I know Samsung has done a lot with security but does anyone have a way that's pretty simple? Maybe even making it so that it's not a system app without rooting? Just thought I'd ask .
