I am trying to set up speed dial position 1 for voicemail but each time i try to assign the vodafone '121' voicemail number to it I get a message saying it is reserved. When I try to us speed dial 1 it says teh voicemail number is incorrect. How do I change the number assigned to speed dial 1.
I'm not for certain off the top of my head since I don't have a smartphone right now, but I believe if you go into Settings/Phone there's an option for Services. Select Voice/Text Messages and Get Settings. In there you should be able to change the voice mail number to the correct one.
Hello,
Try: start/settings/phone/call options/ and fill in the voice mail number.
Good luck

so you need a phone which has web in it?
No, not necessarily. You can receive calls with your Google Voice number on any phone at all.
To dial out with your Google Voice number on the go, the easiest way is with a data connection on your cell phone. Any phone can use the Google Voice mobile website, but it works best if you can get an app for your phone to dial directly. The Android app is great. There's a Blackberry app for it, and the iPhone version was blocked from the Apple app store.
But dig this--- with just a texting plan you can still dial out from your cell phone, using your Google Voice number. If you set your Google Voice number to forward texts to your mobile, here's how it works ....
You give your new Google Voice number to your friend John. Let's just say that John isn't in your Google contacts yet ... and John's number is (123) 456-7890. When he texts you, the text you receive on your phone comes from a (406) number, that always corresponds to that person.
The first text you get will look something like this.
From: +1-406-486-6339
Message: +1-123-456-7890 - hey man, it's John
Text your reply to that (406) number, and it will go to his phone, and show your Google Voice number. And here's a nice bonus--- dial that (406) number, and it will call him, showing your Google Voice number.
Once you add John to your Google contacts, your texts will look like this:
From: +1-406-486-6339
Message: John - so should i save this as your new number?
You can save the (406) number in your phone contacts to quickly text/call someone with GV.

Moto X, Andriod 5.1, pure stock, bought in Germany, used in Russia.
I've got a constant problem with caller's ID showing up as "unknown" in the dialer history.
This behaviour is sporadic. I could not trace back any reason why a caller from my contact list would appear as "unknown" in the call log.
Sometimes when i get an incoming call from an unknown number it dos get listed explicitly in the incoming call history and i can call back (the number itself gets registered in the incoming call log) but half of the time i get an unanswered call as "unknown", so i can't even define who's been calling me.
The same applies to in/out calls from/to my contact list. I get "unknown" numbers in the log that i can not redial or keep the history of.
I tried an alternative dialer (Dialer One from Google Play which i had as a default in my previous Motorola Defy+) with no success.
Most of my contacts are saved in Cyrillic but i never had any problems with my Motorola Defy + which was also bought in Germany.
And the error seems to be random anyway. Sometimes i get the contact or the phone number listed in the log, but most of the time i get "unknown" source.
Any clues or suggestions on solving this problems? Thanks in advance!
I'm a newbie here so i can not post any screenshots, sorry for the pure text.
I have an app that writes all my phone calls to my calendar - incoming, outgoing and missed calls all write to my Google Calendar with the number called and the duration of the call. If it's a number in my contacts, it will add that in addition to the number.
But I haven't found a way to get Google Voice calls to do it. I'm hoping someone out there can tell me how I can make, receive, & miss calls write to my calendar using Tasker. I use Voice for calls from and to my patients and that allows me to give them a dedicated number they can call anytime and I can use, if necessary (say for that 3:00 am non-emergency call about something they just "have to tell" me), to screen them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I used to use voice choice to do this, but it is now gone from the play store. (worked great)
I have my phone set to use my google voice number for all calls.
Is it possible to have tasker cancel the google voice call and use my true number if a call exists in certain groups/ contact labels? ie. call with GV number, if contact is labeled family, then call with sim #?
