Where can I find the Stock firmware? Links would be nice
Thanks in advance.
Here's the complete moto X guide, a sticky in the general section. Go to the returning to stock section. There's a link for firmware (sbf) . If your 4.4.4 is released yet, which it may or may not be.
If not, might have to wait. And not sure what you are doing exactly.... But don't downgrade Android versions. If you value your device.

That would work if the OP had a 2013 X, but the topic says 2014, so a better place to start would probably be the 2014 Moto X forum.

I found this link indicating a way to root the 2014 Moto X. Nothing in it says that you need the Pure Edition to root. But that runs contrary to what I have read elsewhere?
Can someone confirm or deny that root can be achieved in non-Pure versions of the new Moto X?
Thanks.
You wouldn't even have to ask if it were possible right now. There would be than thousands of posts about it. So in short, no. No new Moto X with 4.4.4 has a root method.

When you refer to a link and ask questions about it, it's generally a good idea to include that link so people have some reference of what you're talking about.

As stated in the article, it only works if you can unlock the bootloader through Motorola. If you can unlock the bootloader to begin with, root is trivial.

And unlocking the bootloader isn't possible, even with the instructions in that link?
Hi,
I checked the sbf.droid-developers site but the Rogers stock FW for 4.4.4 is nowhere to be found. Anyone know where I can grab a copy?
Thanks.
It likely has not been leaked yet. You will probably have to wait. ?

And I'll ask this thread be moved to Q&A for you. General isn't for questions. ?

Sorry about the forum - I thought I was in Q&A. My bad..
KJ, I think I may have found it: http://www.filefactory.com/folder/dd05c058d3ff8dbe/?sort=created&order=DESC&show=100&page=1
I also filed a ticket at Motorola Support but don't think they'll be of any help.
No Rogers there other than 4.2.2. So that's very outdated.
The file is listed under "RCI"...

I'd want to be 1000% sure first. Ota was less than a month ago.

You're risking a lot if you try it.
Um... I was looking for 4.4.4 for my 1st gen Moto X... Which is a XT1058. The 2nd gen X is on Telus so I wouldn't have asked for a Rogers flash...
Perhaps you've confused me with someone else?

I did... Notice the edited post. ?
Well, the version numbers match; I'll extract the build.prop and see which model it really is for.
Sent from my Moto X
Well, the xml file does confirm that it's for the Rogers XT1058.

Again, I just find it odd that it's a month old.
I'd proceed with caution anyway.
HI....
I had rooted my MOTO G cdma Boost mobile. it was working fine. Yesterday it got hang and I switched off it by long pressing power button. After that the phone is not switching ON. Rocovery mode is also not working. When tried in recovery mode it is going to a blank screen. normal start up is got stuck in bootloader unlocked screen. Please help me to resolve this..
Hi,
I will have your thread moved to your device section, but can you clarify first if it's the 2013, original moto g, or the 2014?
Thanks!

Hello fellow XDA members,
I just got the Moto G 2014 and I have been looking into rooting and flashing for this phone. I have a few questions:
1. What is the difference between this variant (XT1072) and the other ones. This has 4G LTE, its that the only difference or does your phones have it as well?
2. Is rooting and flashing worth it? I have been looking at a couple of ROMs and Kernels and I'm not sure whether rooting is the way to go. I have modded all my previous phones but this phone is fast and it rarely has any problems.
3. Do any of the ROMs even support this model or are all the models the same and their shouldn't be any problem flashing?
Thanks for your help [emoji14]

What do you mean? The system apk of the playstore? If so, I can't do that since I am not rooted. Also, why are you posting something like that in another persons thread. I'm sure you will be helped much faster if you create your own thread. I recommend downloading the apk of the internet if you want it, just do a quick google search.

Google playstore's host is deleted. For this i need the host file.

This post should answer your question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/help/xt1072-compatible-roms-t3068071
I have a Moto G (2014) XT1068 and it doesn't have 4G. I've read posts of devices being bricked because of attempting to install ROMs meant for the regular Moto G (2014) so I wouldn't recommend it. Sadly, there don't seem to be anyROMS for your phone...
---------- Post added at 10:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:19 PM ----------
However, you can root your phone and install Xposed Framework to get customization features of other ROMs but I think that's about all you can do...

Yeah I thought that the only way was to use xposed if there are no ROMs. Thanks anyway!
