hi all i want to know which on is better new moto x or nexus 6 ?
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6604&idPhone2=6649
because i love to try moto voice active "ok google now" and i dont know nexus 6 can support this option or not ?
For me, its gonna be the moto x... The 6 looks amazing and I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it was priced 499$ for 32 and 549$ for 64... But I'm not shelling out 649-699$ + tax and shipping for a phone.
I might buy it from T-Mobile on contract. But I'm going to wait for the reviews and see the size comparisons. If its not too big I'd consider it. But I'm really leaning on the x right now
The nexus 6 if you like big phones. The SD805 is much better (I have it in my G3 Cat 6) and the 5.96in screen will really let you see what L has to offer. Its not a bad price for the phone after all its the cheapest of the SD805 powered phones. AOSP should run great on this beast and I bet the battery life will be good as well because of the largish battery.
Both run near Stock Android, except the Nexus 6 will launch with Android L while the Moto X (2014) will get it in the upcoming weeks or months.
The Nexus 6 has a much better display, bigger battery, optical-image-stabilization and the option to have 64 GBs storage.
The Moto X (2014) is cheaper, smaller and more compact which makes it easier to use in the hand.
Weight the options and go for whichever fits your needs better. Can't go wrong with either, honestly.
any body know about motorola nexus voice activator ?
Ok Google is supported even from the lock screen in Android L on the nexus 6 and the 9. It's in another post around here that links back to google's site where it's stated.
Actually here is the link where it's stated by google ( scroll down and click on show all features, then search for "ok google" on the page and you'll find it )

Sorry I should have made it more clear: it has a bigger display and higher resolution.

Yes it has Moto's Active Display which is called "ambient display" and Always-on "OK Google" now. But these are more of Android L features it seems, either way it has them.
something like motorola touchless control ?

But this is available using the Google Now Launcher on phones like the Samsung S4 when the phone is charging. After phrasing like that, it'd be crappy if it did only work if it was charging but it's still ambiguous.
Nexus 9.

No, it works just like Moto Touchless Control. "Even if your screen is off, you can say "OK Google" on devices with digital signal processing support such as Nexus 6 and Nexus 9"
As for active display: "Standby time (Ambient Display on ): up to 250 hours
Standby time (Ambient Display off): up to 330 hours"
^ Only devices with AMOLED / OLED screens are appropriate for that task. That's why they got rid of the outdated LED notifications.

Was debating on Moto X vs Nexus 5. Was going with the Nexus 5 but was hesitant due to camera and speaker issues and with the cyber monday deal for the Moto X, I'm probably going with the Moto X but have a couple of questions.
1) Is there anything else from the Nexus 5 version of Kit Kat that didn't make it other than the business search/caller ID and the Google Experience Launcher?
2) If I side load the Google Experience Launcher, how does (or does) that affect the Moto hands free "Ok Google Now" and other hands free tools ie. I think i understand "OK Google" with the GEL only works on the home screen for the Nexus 5 but the Moto X works on any screen. Does one supplant the other, do they co-exist?
Thanks!
1) Well, if you also count the camera that comes with stock KitKat, then yeah. I think the only thing you'll be missing out on would be Photosphere though.
2) OK Google is completely vaporized, everywhere. You don't see it in Google Now, you don't see it in your home screen... essentially everything will be redirected to the Moto Touchless Control first.
I fixed both speaker and camera with mods and Google is coming out with a major camera software update specifically for the Nexus soon.
I was really on the fence about these 2 and went to the store to try the moto x again yesterday. The Nexus 5 screen is just so much better and amazing. That extra smidge of size makes all the difference to me, not sure why. But Moto X is amazing in many ways so you can't go wrong. I'll stick with my N5 and maybe consider a Moto X 2 when they enhance to quad core and 1080p...

I like being able to customize the touchless control phrase for voice search (got it working on my original moto x) And wanted to know if the nexus 6 will allow this or not.

The new moto x allows you to do it, but I suspect the nexus will be skipped. I assume the twist to launch camera will me missing as well. And other important things that we would all love to see on a 6 inch device, such as multi window, screen resizing for one handed use, and a number row for the keyboard. You know, all the things that the Note series has.... But screw samsung and double screw touchwiz LOL

Moto is starting to release their apps via play store. Originally, they were very hardware-specific, but that seems to be loosening up. I suspect that the N6 will see a lot of Moto app love before long.

The Nexus 6 has been confirmed to have the same hotword processor (The Ti-C55) the Moto X uses. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014...talks-to-android-execs-about-the-upcoming-os/
Looks like the N6 will be able to do everything the Moto X can do with always listening and hotword detection.
I tried the nexus 6 and I am not the phablet guy. I prefer a mobile(music player, camera, torch, calling & messaging device) and tablet(reading & youtube).
I was told by a salesman that Google plans to release the Nexus 5 2014 or 2015 version with better CPU & RAM. Is it true??? I googled to find some confirmation about that from google but nothing from anyone.
I am planning to buy a mobile and was trying to choose between MotoX & N5. If a new version of N5 is coming, I would prefer that. I like the Pure Android version over that of HTC or Samsung.

Nexus 5 2014 or 2015 may happen or may not, now it's all assumptions. I haven't even heard a rumor about it. Since they have refreshed the Nexus 7 with 2013 edition, it might happen in the case of Nexus 5. Moto X 2014 edition is good phone than Nexus 5. This doesn't mean nexus 5 is totally bad. Moto X 2014 is slightly better.
As it stands now the Nexus 5 still a very very good phone, the current 801's such as the S5, M8 ect aren't all that much ahead in terms of specs they have the same GPU same amount of memory in most, only real noticeable difference being it clocked slightly higher.
And i very much doubt we see the 805, as this will take sales away from the Nexus 6.
If there is to be a refresh it probably only happen around November 2015, when we could see the latest Snapdragon be it 811, 815 or 820 in a 5 or 5.2" device with 4GB of ram and a QHD screen, which would be a proper upgrade to the Nexus 5.
As I've mentioned before the Moto X 2014 is only a side step to the Nexus 5 & tbh your just wasting money if you change to that.
To be honest I wouldn't wish a better CPU or more RAM on refreshed Nexus 5 but a better battery and camera maybe
@dudaka: Battery, ofcourse. Dual-sim, maybe a nice topping. Memory card, I desperately need it.
Thank alot to everyone for your feedback. I just wanted to know how much truth was there to the rumour.
I think the rumor is true. Google is still advertising the Nexus 5 on the Play Store, I expect to see a 2015 Nexus 5 at some point when new SOCs become available.
As of now, the 800 is still rocking. The real benefit of the 805 is the beefier GPU required for 1440p screens. If you don't play games, the 805 is hardly an improvement for a 1080p device.
Also, I hope google stays at 1080p and focuses on power efficiency, color accuracy and outdoor readability rather than pulling a LG G3.

Hi!
I have a Nexus 6 since day one. Love the phone but I've always thought that it would fit me better if it would have a 5.5/5.7 inch screen.
A second hand Nexus 6 is almost the same price as a new Moto X style so i might sell it and use my old phone till the Moto release date.
Differences:
Nexus 6 has a Snapdragon 805 and AMOLED screen.
Moto X has a Snapdragon 808 and TFT screen.
Size
Front facing camera flash on Moto
Dissadvantages for the Nexus 6 for me are:
- Size
- Screen isn't really bright (compared to other phones), and almost unreadable in the direct sun. More Nits would be cool.
- Heavy at the top (phone feels better in my hand if I turn it upside down). Not sure how this is with the Moto X.
Should I sell the Nexus 6 and go for the Moto X Style? Not sure about the 808 and the TFT.
Turn on High Brightness feature on Nexus 6 and voila, you see perfect outside.

What is this feature if I may ask? I always put the brightness to max when i'm outside. It only gets unreadable when there is a lot of sunlight. I Googled it and it seemed that the Nexus 6 screen has lesser nits (or something) compared with other flagship phones.
I have plans to switch to the Style as well. Its close enough to stock and it has the Moto Apps that I have always wanted.
The negatives to switching is that I wouldn't get updates as quick and I will miss the deep dark saturated colors of AMOLED.
the phones are almost identical enough for me not to make the switch, but..... theres that microsd slot and if you get the device on tmobile or unlocked then you can basically turn it into a nexus device thanks to the community. I just got my nexus 6 so I'm not sure its worth the hassle but I might change my mind in a few months.

I am/was a huge fan of AMOLED till I compared it with the G4. I would take the G4 screen any day over my AMOLED. Really curious how the Moto X 2015 screen performs.

The only problem is the brightness for me. But I much prefer amoled to LCD as I like to use my display as a night stand clock and I don't like wasting power backlighting the entire panel.
Perhaps if they can create a full-array LED Backlighting system similar to LED LCD TV's, it would be an improvement if the LED's can be bright enough

It's a feature included in any kernel on the Nexus 6. It's called High Brightness Mode. You can find a widget developed by flar2 on the market. You can see in extremely bright conditions with this feature enabled.
Here it is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.hbmwidget
Thanks a lot! Works like a charm!:good:
I'm 75% sure I'm sticking with my N6. I'm happy with it overall and the only real gain with the Moto X is the software. I had the 1st Gen X and I loved the few additions Motorola added. The only other thing that would make me get the Moto X is the premise of the device. ZERO carrier influence and it works on all networks out of the box. This is the way all phones should be sold. No carrier interference in regards to upgrades and extra embedded apps that I just don't want.
I will be telling everyone I know who is looking for phone to buy the X in order to support what Motorola's doing.

My only gain with the Moto (now that my brightness is more than sufficient) would be a smaller phone. But my gues is that i'm staying with the Nexus 6. Just saw my brother's LG G4 with the 808. Our "old" Nexus 5's feel faster. Stock software probably has a great part in that but still, there is almost a 2 year gap between those phones. Still pretty curious about the software of the Moto though.
Furthermore, we don't have dominant carriers in the Netherlands. Just 3 or 4 big carriers and a dozen smaller carriers who use the networks of the bigger ones. As far as i know they don't have any influence on my phone (on or off contract) or updates etc.
Gonna try the moto pure! Hopefully it comes out first! And if I don't like it! I'll get N5
New moto X looks pretty awesome... I don't see any reason not to switch... Anyone else thinking of doing the same?

Smaller screen ,not amoled , and basically the same hardware.Nexus 6 should be faster with updates.
I can't find a reason to switch to moto x style.
If i do it ,i will pick a device with better specs (4gb ram,sd810).
First smartphone that i can think of is oneplus two.
The new nexus device(s) are not that far away either.
I'm going for the moto style that's what it's called in UK looks great and loving the build of my N6 so the new moto x style should be awesome and the price is good..

You wouldn't pick up a Moto X because no 4gb of ram or 810 (which what good is an 810 if it had to be throttled to not overheat) or no amoled screen yet would pick up a oneplus two thats lacking.....
QHD screen
sd card support
NFC
Quick Charging
Front facing speakers
smaller mp camera
smaller screen than Moto X
Can only be activated on att& and tmobile
Need an invite to purchase
I'm sorry....what???
That's 20MP is tempting me to switch.
Grabbed the Nexus 6 originally in hopes that moto suite could be ported over. That has turned out to be pretty much a fail, so getting the moto x pure is probably the next best thing. Can't wait to get it! At this point if moto apps haven't been ported over to the nexus 6 I have a feeling it never will.

I can understand your thoughts and questions.
1)Nothing beats the deep blacks of amoled display.I get it that nexus's 6 display is not calibrated but i don't care that much.My projector needs to be calibrated, the screen of my phone doesn't have to (my opinion).I choose infinite contrast than accurate colors.Basically i prefer to have both , but samsung devices lost me as a customer since the implementation of knox counter.
2)sd810 is way better than 808 even if it throttles. My previous flex 2 did throttle but only in benchmarks.Had no impact on real life usage or gaming. The andreno of the 810 is a beast compared to the one of 808.You need that power when you have to deal with qhd screens. Also oneplus promised a better tuned sd810 for oneplus two model.
3)The oneplus 2 doesn't have quick charging but it charges relatively quick (early reports) and i personally never used nfc.Oneplus two will probably have better battery life performance than motorola style.
4)Will miss the dual speakers, and would like an sd card, i admit it
5)Camera performance was never that great on a Motorola device and more mpixels will not make guaranteed difference.I trust more the one on oneplus two (had oneplus one before)
6)I am from Europe , usually we don't depend that much on carriers .
7)Invite system sucks , but if you need one, you will get it easily.
8)The oneplus (and nexus 6) have great support on xda with unlocked bootloader and no warranty loss.
I am not saying that style is a bad device, not at all.I am just not receiving the "flagship" feeling of the other devices (no amoled , no 4gb ram , no sd810).For my needs, the nexus 6 is still the better one.
