[Q] Notifications - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

I'm trying to add some notification sounds from other phones to my S5,but I can't find where they are located?
There a certain way to do that?
Thanks.

Try checking \system\media\audio
That is where it was on my HTC Vivid. Had a bunch of ringtones I wanted.

Where is the Captain's Log notification sound stored?

In doing some ROM shuffling, I noticed that some have the Captain's Log notification (I use it for one email account), some ROMs don't have it.
So, I want to pull it from one of the ROMs that has it included - but I can't find it anywhere!
I've searched through /system, /system/media, /system/media/notifications, etc.
It doesn't appear to be in any of those directories, but it shows up in the list of notifications.
Does Android store these anywhere else??
im wonderin the same thing, best noti sound evar!
Its called F1_New_MMS.ogg in system/media/audio/notifications

[Q] Custom Notification Sounds

Does anyone know how to change the notification sounds to custom sounds on the HTC One. I'd like to use some not included in the One's ROM

To disable OTA update service

Hello,
I ve found a way to disable system update service.
1. Download disable service from the play store.
2. Disable All thread under Device update
3. Disable SystemUpdateService under Google Play services

vandoor
it worked!
I just followed the steps and the update notification in my nexus 5 is gone!
thanks a lot!
If you just want to remove the notification you can long press the notification, go to App Info and uncheck Notifications.

First of all the thread is a little old, and secondly all that does it remove notifications for that, it still downloads in the background and you might miss other important notifications.

If I recall I believe I read somewhere years ago that said if you rename the ..fota.apk in system/apps it will not check for a system update? Perhaps I am mistaken...its been a couple years.

Keep in mind that doing it that way only hides the notification.
It will still download, and it WILL wakelock to do so.

I am using this to disable the OTA notification for Lollipop. It eliminates the notification but the update is still available under About Phone/System Updates, and it requires touching "Download" to download. So, why do you think the OTA will still occur?

I'm saying that it will just hide all system notifications, NOT get rid of the OTA. You'll miss other system notifications if you do get any and the OTA will still be waiting.

Question is, are there any important system notifications I might be missing if I do this?

Probably things like low battery, low storage space, etc.

So what other options are there? I downloaded 'Disable Service' from Play Store, unchecked the three everyone has been suggesting, but those three would then wakelock my phone 100% of the time.
Thanks for the heads up OP!

If you check app info you will notice you are disabling notifications for Google play services app. This app has nothing in common with standard android system notifications so they will continue to work. Question is, what other notifications does play services app has that could be considered important to the user.

[Q] LED

Does this phone have an LED notification? If so, I can't find it. I was able to switch the sound notification, but I'm looking for the visual notification. Anyone know? Thanks!

[Q] Ascending ringtone fix/mod?

Hi,
Does anybody know how to fix the awful ascending ringtone in the moto g5 plus? I have missed many calls and messages because of this. I am okay to flash a zip file if needed. Please provide a fix.
Disabling it in settings seems to do the trick pretty well...
Here is the zip to disable it.i looked in my phone and there is no option.

Its not in the settings of a lot of phones.
Don't ask me why its not an option. I asked Motorola and they couldn't come up with any reson other than "its the way the phone software was written"
I use the Disable Increasing Ring App which works OK but unfortunately boosts the sound not only for the ring tone but also for every notification I get (email/WhatsApp/Facebook etc) . Shame cos otherwise its a good app.

I thought I missed the option in the settings but apparently it just isn't there. It's a shame almost every other phone has that option under Settings>Sound
