Helloooooo everyone,
I just received a call from Samsung here in Qatar, Doha telling me to come and pick your note 4. I went there expecting Snapdragon because our LTE frequency bands 800 and 2,600 MHz (LTE bands 7 and 20). So i was shocked to see that I got the Exynos which as far as I know doesn't support 800Mhz.
http://www.ooredoo.qa/en/4G-LTE-technology
End of the story, I put in my sim card in preparing to return it if it didn't support my LTE but to my surprise the 4G was the first thing to show .

Think there are a lot of shops in the UAE that have the 910C and would be willing to ship internationally.

There's quite a few Polish shops which started popping up with it, I would try to get it within the EU so you can avoid additional taxes.

Is this compatible with AT&T's and T-Mobile's 4G "LTE" Network to some extent?
Also, does the 910C sport a CAT6 LTE Modem?

If you refer to my post, my point was only that there's a little app that shows the Android service menu. The band is indicated (mine says HSPA - my contract doesn't allow LTE, so I can't say anything about that).

that app your referring to is the same menu as going into *#*#4636#*#*
also, HSPA, LTE, GSM, etc is not the band type, its a network type.. by Band type I mean LTE: Bands: 1/3/4/7/17/38/40, which is also another way to describe radio frequency
as you can see in the first pic of my first post, in the Samsung device, it shows Band 4
but my question was for mindblizzard,

That's all fine and dandy, but it's not like your carrier is operating multiple frequencies that you're likely to see ever. Maybe if you live in an incredibly dense population center, but even then... Perhaps I'm missing something.

Fair enough, if you have LTE already, and they are simply deploying a new frequency, you likely won't notice any change, to any of the service. Speeds don't increase between bands, the only reason a carrier deploys a new band, is to fight radio interference from other carriers. Given the cost of a single radio, carriers generally only deploy these new radios in VERY congested areas. Meaning, that in a city that has, say 15 towers, 2-3 of them would actually get the upgrade, in the area that suffers from the most interference. (You have to bear in mind, that a full tower build, requires 6 radios, each radio costing about $18,000 for the radio, another $1000 for the antenna, another $500-1500 for the power supply and cabling. They don't just "upgrade" an entire area, it takes too long to recoup costs)

Ah my mistake, i had in my head he meant to check for bands in the area which he can use with the 'unlocked' frequency mod..for some reason. My total mistake!
However what i meant with what i said when i get my 4g is that i can confirm that the unlock mod will enable band 20 since our OPO is restricted/doesnt support it by default. The band app would be good though!
I tried all last night and today at adding US LTE bands and additional 3G bands. The phone took and is keeping the new NV values so far. However, as of yet, I haven't had any luck connecting to the T-Mobile LTE yet. With my limited knowledge, I think the Qualcomm chip is definitely capable of running those frequencies however the phones modem firmware doesn't have the coding to do so. I'll try and do a lot more research and figure out if I can pry into the modem firmware. If anyone has any knowledge about it then please share. This phone is simply amazing however LTE would just amplify that even more.
Here are the values I have been using in case you want to try them yourself. I kept all of the native 3g and LTE bands active in these as well.

Just a note as well, you need build 422 of QPSD in order to do this. I tried 411 however the phone just kept showing up as an unknown device. Once I upgraded, everything was working fine.

Not that it's my concern. But people want to probably know if band 20 works
I'll be keeping my eye on this thread. :cyclops:
please test the signal (2g, 3g and 4g) if is strong, compared with another cellphone; and how is the call quality and how is the voice,
thank you
Test band 20 please!
Sent from my G3
All bands that I can test will be tested but please do keep in mind that I live near Sacramento California and will only be able to test my area, Tahoe, San Fran.
I will be testing with multiple carriers also.
This is a group effort, anyone who has it, test it.
Thanks all!
Definately interested in this thread, the only two reasons I haven't got a Mi5 yet is because
a) I'm Australian, and they don't support band 28 (supposedly) and
b) They haven't released the Pro model yet.
I do have some questions though, as the first post is quite vague...
What will you be testing? Throughput? Reception? Supported bands?
If you're testing bands...
Will you just be testing in its' completely standard state?
Are you going to attempt modification with QPST/QXDM to enable US bands?
If you can indeed get more bands on it I'm getting one.
I do believe that it's a possibility - I read somewhere (can't find the source now...) that the X12 modem is the first by Qualcomm to have the modem/baseband in the same solution.
I'm assuming the reason some phones could be unlocked and some couldn't before this is due to vendor-specific modem adjustments or different sub-SKUs of the Qualcomm chipset, so I'm excited to see if it's possible.
All reasonable questions.
I'll be testing latency, download, upload, bands on specific carriers, and reception on specific carriers.
I won't be testing any modifications any time soon, sorry.
Thanks!
I've just switched my network in order to make use of Volte and 4G+. Looking forward to seeing how fast it can go. Supposed to be upto 300mbps over here in DK
With the 2G network shutting down in Australia at the end of this year, I'm actually very keen on a replacement that can handle concurrent 3G/3G on each sim.
Would you also be able to test this?

Most likely no, the LTE won't work.
I found the Qualcomm drivers for the Xiaomi Mi 5 in the Diag mode

With these it should be possible to unlock more bands, at least in theory.

You cannot install Snapdragon firmware on an Exynos based phone. This will lead to a brick. The only thing from a Snapdragon firmware you can install I believe is CSC but don't quote me on that.

I was also wondering if flashing the tmobile CSC to the 955F would enable wifi calling. The only LTE band that the Exynos variant doesn't have that T-mobile uses is 66 and from what I've been able to research that's not sued int he NYC area. But wifi calling is critical. I use it a lot to call back home when I travel abroad.

Thanks but there's something weird about your screenshot. Band 32 is out of order and is not used on any Samsung phone. I think that should be 42. I find it hard to believe that there is a typo in the service menu.
I was using frequencycheck.com and willmydevicework.com as my sources. I agree that on this point I'm positive that the 950 and 955 should be the same.

Yeah it's strange and I do think it's a typo. But that's what service mode shows, regardless of which SIM I select.
With the exynos you'll also lose VoLTE. Meaning in areas where T-Mobile is using B12 LTE to extend the range of its network (B12 LTE 700mhz goes further than their EDGE and HSPA network (1700,1900,2100mhz) so if you're in an area and only have B12 LTE signal you won't be able to make or receive calls or texts. And in an emergency scenario if there was no other network for your phone to roam to, you also wouldn't be able to dial 911. Kinda an important feature imo.
I use the 930F on t-mobile and will likely do the same with the s8. If you care about rooting, you should get a 950f. It can be rooted easily and with root, you can get TKKG1994's CSC selection tool and use it to enable VOLTE/Wifi calling). If you aren't going to root, then the carrier phone is good.
I don't know how gigabit LTE is affected but I doubt in 2017 this is a game changer.
I bought an S10 5G korean version 977N KT branded, my carrier is Vodafone Italy and everything works fine, apart the 5G connection, never seen on the display. Does anybody have the same issue using the korean device abroad?
Korean S10 5G only enables 5GNR Band 78 when certain operator (ie: Korean) SIM cards are inserted. Otherwise inside the UeCapabilityInformation it sends, it only includes LTE Bands (1, 3, 7, 8, 20, 32, 39, 40).

Could a proper firmware or a custom rom solve the problem?
I think it's something in either the CSC or the baseband, but not sure.

I had it since i purchased the phone, changed CSC from LUC to KOO but 5g still doesn't work, it turns on for a 2 sec. And then switches back to LTE
Folks,
Any news/updates on this issue? Is there still any hope to fix the 5G reception by this model?
Will the new update to Android 10 help overcome this constraint?
Thanks,

Really?? that brilliant :silly:
If the problem is not HW. related, there shall be a resolution either soon or later! I wish it is not H.W limitation!
Let's hear from others who still keep on using this model ....
BTW: the two models (B/N) are exactly similar in HW specs. if not identical. If am not worng ?, furthermore, the custom ROM (VN-ROM) here is working on both similarly and as per developer, it is based on G977B firmware!

I heard from a guru that 5G connection is a SIM related process, so to enable it you have to insert the branded SIM

So why the phone is unlocked initially and globally sold! while it requires specific carrier sim!. and all services are working great except 5G modem is not active !!

I had the same problem with a KT branded one. It is unlocked for all the networks except the 5G, that is evidently considered an optional function, that is only enabled using that carrier sim

Yes right, I do have this model. but do you expect 5G is optional for this device manufactured to support the 5G network!, logically no!!
It is an essential feature that should be available as the other features!
This makes me think that the model is not fully supporting worldwide 5G networks bands and it might be equipped with a certain 5g-modem that supports KT 5g-NR bands ONLY!! . in addition, the low price for the N model also supports this assumption!

BTW Mr. Waterskier, How much the difference in price for the two models since you had got both of them?
