Hello everyone!
This is my first time posting on these forums.
I been looking on Youtube and searching on Google for a step-by-step guide on how to install Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 on my HTC One 4.3. I know the basics on rooting but I haven't done it on my HTC One since I bought it. I would like to know if someone has a video or guide that shows how to do this as I mentioned before step-by-step.
I would appreciate any help on this matter.
Thank you all!
Jorge
Google "how to root HTC one qbking77". This is a quick overview of what he says to do.
1) unlock bootloader via HTC Dev
2) flash twrp or cwm via fastboot
3) copy superuser onto phone
4) boot into recovery by holding vol down 5) flash super user
6) reboot- you are now rooted
7) move desired cm ROM from get.cm onto phone
8) move appropriate gapps from goo.im into phone
9) boot into recovery, (you will want to do a backup at this point) wipe system, cache, and i believe data/media (factory reset in TWRP), flash ROM, then flash gaps and reboot! Done!
10) optional - s off via rumrunner and hide all traces of modding
There maybe a few errors here, but this is the general outline of what you'll need to do.
I bought a nexus 6 on google play and I am on verizon. It is currently running 5.0 LNX07M.
Could some nice fellow please tell if if this is correct?
1. download wugfresh
2. download drivers
3. tick usb debug, oem unlock
4. unlock bootloader
5. flash no force encrypt
6. root
7. Trwp
8. Get Chroma/ or any other 5.1.1 rom and flash with gapps?
I'm espeically concerned if it is ok to unlock and root a 5.0 nexus 6 and then use twrp to flash a 5.1.1 rom. Should I first update the phone to 5.1 or something?
1. download and install adb/fastboot
2. boot into the bootloader and plug in via USB to your computer. depending on what your computer is running, it could download and install the driver by itself or you would have to.
3. fastboot OEM unlock unlocks the bootloader.
4. reboot and back into your bootloader.
5. flash twrp recovery
6. flash your custom kernel and SuperSU for root via twrp recovery.
7. only if you want to decrypt, format your storage. if not, just reboot.

if updating the official way, go to 5.1 then 5.1.1. but if updating via custom ROM, it doesnt matter, you can flash 5.1.1 over 5.0
IMHO,
1) download Android SDK or minimal fastboot and ADB or 15 second ADB and fastboot installer
2) connect to PC and reboot to bootloader
3) from command prompt:
fastboot devices
(Serial number shows up)
4) From command:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
5) Download the latest TWRP recovery for shamu
6) Boot back to bootloader and from command (having placed the TWRP image somewhere where fastboot can find it i.e. in platform tools in SDK) also rename it to twrp.img
Issue the command:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
(Be careful to not have it list the file ext. twice. Windows names the file ext. by default. Example: twrp.img.img
After recovery flashes, from bootloader, use the volume keys to select recovery mode and press power. Your device will boot to TWRP.
Make a backup!
Next, download SuperSU zip and flash with TWRP.
Congratulations, you are now stock rooted and you can choose any ROM you like and flash with TWRP. Follow the instructions carefully from the ROM OP and profit.
It may look complicated but trust me, it's not. The longest process will be after you unlock the bootloader. Your device will wipe completely so backup anything you'd rather not lose forever.
Remember, a 32gb Nexus will take 10 to 15 minutes to wipe and reboot. A 64gb will take 20 minutes or more.
The benefit of doing it this way is you know exactly what is happening to your device, unlike a toolkit. Also, you just learned something! Plus, if you get stuck somewhere and end up soft bricked, you'll understand what and how when someone here tells you how to fix it.
Thank you guys for your responses ! I think my laziness is going to win me out this round so im going to use the toolkit. But next time, I will do the correct way!
Warning don't try this if you are new to rooting.. wait for more confirmation
I've successfully rooted my phone using these steps:
Download the TWRP recovery image from http://forum.xda-developers.com/vivo-xl/development/recovery-t3311601 credit @jemmini
Download SuperSU from http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu-beta
Enable Developer Options
Enable OEM unlock
Enable USB Debugging
Reboot phone bootloader (adb reboot bootloader or vol up + power)
fastboot oem unlock
vol up to confirm unlock
your phone will ask you to reboot but vol up and vol down doesn't do anything. (other were having issue with boot looping here because of this..)
fastboot reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery twrp-recovery.img (the file downloaded in step 1)
fastboot reboot
while the phone is rebooting, press and hold vol up (this will launch TWRP recovery)
Optional: do not enable write access (for backup purpose)
select wipe, format data, type in yes (this fixes the boot looping issue -- credit @acotto)
now make a backup of your phone
Copy supersu.zip to your phone
install supersu.zip
To make TWRP recovery permanent: rename or delete /system/recovery-from-boot.p
reboot
your phone will take awhile to boot up since it has to rebuild all of your applications for the first time.
Edit:
I haven't figured out how to make TWRP permanent yet. Blu is restoring the stock recovery on reboot.
Thanks for the write up, looks really promising.
For those who need fastboot, I used this All in One to get it set up on my PC. I am running Windows 10 and it installed and worked just fine.
Followed the instructions above and achieved root. Thanks to OP for the great instructions.

Don't unlock bootloader, it's not needed.
For now, use recovery restore to original ROM, clear data/cache in recovery, then you should be able to boot.

I have already given a big warning about this unlock bootloader, why didn't you read ?
Click the link, the solution is there. Generally, install TWRP, then restore from the image given.

Why won't this work?! I can't even load TWRR once. It always boots and then re-boots to the original recovery. Pushing volume up after flashing the twrr recovery doesn't go into recovery mode.

Is it okay to change or delete /system/recovery-from-boot.p before loading the recovery.img of TWRR??
What version of android is this working on? I'm on the latest
How do I get out of this bootloop?

1: Flash the rom after you wipe system, data & cache.
2: Let it boot for the first initial setup & setup your phone with language & country etc.
3: Restart your phone to twrp recovery then flash supersu & dm verity.
Let me know.

No.... After flashing stock through Odin, let the device boot for initial setup dude. Don't flash twrp...!
After the phone setup is done you can go back to download mode & flash twrp.
There is no need to format data for rooting your device dude.
Just flash supersu & no verity... You will be fine.
Stock rom or custom ROM follow my words.

In your first post you have stated that you are not able to flash custom rom but now you are telling me that your phone is stuck even when Flashed with stock rom....!
I'm confused about what's happening here because the methods you have stated will not work in any case scenario as base ROM is required to flash - root to system or any mods so without rom you can't root any phone by flashing supersu first before even flashing rom that's the logical here.
There is no my method or your method but there is a universal step by step method which you clearly need to understand.
But anyways I can't help you anymore as I have no video to assess your process.
As a last resolution I will suggest one more method, if you can boot your phone to stock recovery then you can reset your device by factory reset which will again wipe everything within the phone so proceed with caution(just mentioning) so once you wipe your phone through stock recovery. Let me know. It has to boot in my opinion.
Before you do this try to reflash official & latest firmware which will be the January security updates through Odin with default settings.
After you get Odin pass message, it will automatically reboot so wait for 30 minutes max. If nothing happens press & hold volume down & power key to reboot device & as soon as the screen goes off to reboot, you will have to enter to recovery mode by holding on to volume up, power & home key as you already will know (just mentioned) then wipe to factory reset. Reboot.
Let me know if this works.
If not I'm located in Bangalore so if you are from Bangalore then I might help you. Again no fees or charges (just mentioned)
Or
Try this rom:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/development/rom-t3607729
Or take it Samsung official Store to find out if your device has any issues with power chips or so..!

OK you have to state what version twrp you are flashing?
Now if it's just recovery then I would say to try TWRP 3.1.1.0 which is most stable version in my view.
Note: Re-download all Twrp tar, Supersu & no verity zip.
First flash twrp & then let the device boot to home screen.
Second reboot to recovery by hard keys.
If you see stock recovery go back to download mode flash twrp & go back to recovery without booting as you are doing but this time just swipe to allow modifications & reboot to recovery again.
Without flashing anything just reboot from recovery to system.
Thirdly if you device reboots to home screen then again get back to twrp recovery & now flash supersu & no verity zip & restart device. You should be able to solve this.

1. Flash TWRP 3.1.1.0 and let it boot to Home Screen
2. If ok then go to Recovery -> flash upersu & no verity zip & restart device
2.1 If still in stock then flash twrp again -> go to recovery -> allow modification -> reboot to recovery -> reboot to system
2.2 If cannot boot to Home Screen after First Step then flash twrp again -> go to recovery -> allow modification -> reboot to recovery -> reboot to system
Are those correct ?

Hi there it's not that difficult i've faced the same issue with my n920c
Solution: Install the TWRP recovery just like normal but when the device is rebooting and black screen shows up Press and Hold [Power+home+vol down] until you see TWRP screen
Please Note: this is really important to press and hold while rebooting ...
After this you can normally reboot to recovery there would be no problem
Good luck !

venomnguyen - any solution bro? did u succeed
Hey there, first post here,
Got several higs with my RN10S playing a bit.
How to flash a custom rom in Xiaomi phones?
-First unlock your BL with MiFlashUnlocker.
MiFlashUnlocker
-assuming you're on 12.5.16.eu and wants to go to custom rom;
-first of all you need to be on 12.5.16global, only global version works atm.
So MiFU was useless atm. Or No:
Open MiFlashTool 2018.5.28.0 and Select the folder where you previously extracted 12.5.16global tzg .
Connect your phone in fastboot mode, rescan beward to the corner right.
You could clean all and flash 12.5.16 and MiFU would have been usefull
You could save your "user data"
Or you could clean all and lock flash and lock- BL, for just security purpose telling yourself you would Re-unlock in the future and thus you would need to Unlock it again, so MiFU again..
For tho who still follow, you just fastboot flashed 12.5.16global,
Boot it, i assume that this part is important, cause flashing TWRP just after a fastboot rom flash could end up in unmounted partitions,
Flash TWRP with phone in fastboot mode:
fastboot flash boot recovery.img
To temporarely replace the boot by recovery,
fastboot reboot recovery to boot onto it
Once in there, Switch to slot B;
(Reboot button- there you have option to use either slots)
Flash your rom and reflash TWRP by using the tick next to the digest, while flashing the rom.
Reboot Recovery to get things settled,
Format data to just keep the freshly installed rom, (Wipe, Data, yes) and get it working and running
Reboot and enjoy!
To revert simply fire up MiFlashTool and an original 12.5.16 tgz file, for security purpose,
You may wants to format, flash, lock.
The same technique could be applyied if running Miui 13 and wants to revert to 12.5
There is ARB but doesn't seem to be taken onto consideration bout the program
I got a red !Phone is destroyed, press power to power off! And my phone is still working actually.
I take absolutely no credits for that,
Just figured out the messy workaround and gathered informations,
These roms are not from me, and i Can confirm their bootability,
Beside that, lightweight, but no fast charge.
Got back to stock, cause of banking app, fast charge
Go feel free to post your techniques to get yourself out if situation
twrp is not on redmi note 10 s yet is it ?
