Hi
I am hoping someone can help me or shed some light I recently got a Moto X I want to change the CID to super CID ie fastboot oem writecid 11111111 but al I get is a messege saying <bootloader> Restricted oem command
I have managed this on a couple of phones , the last one being my One M8 with no problem just seem to have hit a brick wall with the Moto X , I can confirm the bootloader is unlocked , custom recovery installed , custom rom
installed also.
Any help or advice you guys could give would be welcome
Thanks in advance ... Mark

I,m not 100% sure k-t-b as I'm new to Motorola devices but I managed to unlock the bootloader with fastboot oem ulock "unlock code" so I assumed you could change the CID the same way
No, that won't work on the X. Sorry..

mak,
Sorry to bring up such an old post, but did you ever get this resolved? I'm researching a similar issue.
Thanks!
No sorry erikivy not sorted yet think I have fxxked the device I was told by a guy in a shop in London I would have to give the phone
a new identity IMEI no. I think ? not sure if he knew what he was talking about but I think that's illegal in the UK and I don't really want to go down that route.
I think the fastboot oem command needs to be looked into and I'm not really up on Moto Devices
I'm playing with HTC M8 at the moment much more easy to customise in my opinion but I will get back to the moto when I have time
sorry couldn't be more helpfull

Not "ok" that it voids the warranty.

I can. Not many others with the same luck though.
jesus. Nobody gave this poor guy a direct answer?
Very few, and I mean probably like 5% of all nexus one's can relock their bootloader. It's some special Holiday edition or something.
But as of right now, no you can't relock it.

Just out of curiousity, when you say "holiday edition", are you referring to the N1s given to Google employees before the phone was released, or is this just a clever way of acknowledging the good luck of those who got a re-lockable phone?
If the latter, is there any pattern by which one can recognise these phones (serial number, manufacturing date/facility, etc.), or is it just luck of the draw?

I'm not 100% sure but I believe "Holiday edition" refers to the special versions of the phones that have the battery cover with a QR code in it, as said QR code leads to a special holiday game when scanned on the Nexus One. Serial number can't be used to determine which Nexii (Nexuses?) can be relocked and which can't. The easiest way to tell if a Nexus One can be relocked is to power it off, hold the track ball, and power it on again. This boots into the bootloader where you will see on the second line something like "NEXUSONE PVT SHIP S-ON." 'S-ON' means that the bootloader can not be relocked while 'S-OFF' indicates a device can be easily be relocked by running a simple fastboot command from your computer, ''fastboot oem lock." I hope this answers your question.
I know the Nexus One has already been successfully rooted without unlocking the bootloader, but I still hope we can figure out a method for relocking the bootloader. I don't mean to scam warranty, I just hate that awful lock icon on the boot screen.

Shouldn't it be possible to simply flash the SPL from a re-lockable phone onto a phone that (before) couldn't?

Unfortunately, no this is not possible. Trying to do so would most likely lead to a bricked handset as the retail devices have a 512k spl and the engineering spl from holiday phones is 768k in size.
Is this working?

It will not brick the phone. It will work fine for what it's meant to do. Here's a quote from the page
What will be the end result of your Nexus One:
It will reset your system files to the original System Files
It will reset your kernel/boot image to the original shipping boot image
It will reset your recovery to original recovery
The only thing we will not be able to do at this time is to RE-LOCK your Nexus One.

Note that this does not re-lock the device which is what this thread is about. As of right now, there is no way that has been made publicly visible to relock the bootloader of an unlocked S-ON Nexus One. Maybe in the future there will be a way. I hope so, but for now, we're stuck. The method from the link can be used only to restore your phone to the stock ROM, so that you can once again receive OTA updates. It will take away your root priveleges, which I'd assume is the reason you've unlocked your device in the first place. So unless you're tired of being in control of your device, it's pointless.

I have a shipping S-OFF SPL, but apparently nothing can be done with it.
would be nice to see team unrevoked work on this......
So I searched this site for quite a while and have not yet found a solution to this problem, so the only thing left to do was to post this.
I have an HTC one running 4.3 on Verizon.
The first problem occurs when I try to post my unlock token to htcdev. When I do I get the "Mid not allowed: error 160".
So to fix this I learned that I need to change my CID to be something like "111111". The weird part is, in order to change my CID I need to be unlocked and have s-off.
You see my problem? I can't unlock because on my CID, and I can't change my CID because I'm not unlocked....
Does anyone have a solution? I'm sorry if the solution is already posted, I just can't find it!
Thanks!
Nikguy

I've tried to use rumrunner but I have gotten an error on the end. I'm not sure why I've been getting the error but based on some of the posts that I have read, it might be because I'm using android 4.3?
Has anyone on this site unlocked/s-off/rooted an HTC one one Verizon running ota 4.3?

Hi, I am sure this is covered somewhere so apologies for going over something that may have been ( I couldn't find one that matched my problem exactly ). I went to use SOUND HOUND the other day and my phone just went into a permanent white screen with HTC in green written on it. I have since found the bootloader and tried reboot etc etc and various other tips but it seems nothing will work. The phone is showing as TAMPERED & LOCKED and is S-ON. Having been ripped off by HTC for a screen repair recently I am reluctant to send back to them to be ripped off again and wondered if someone could help me out ... but be warned I have basic computer skills but no RUU experience etc BUT can follow clear guidance.
If anyone can help I would be most grateful. Please see image for my phone's details. MANY thanks in advance. I am happy to donate to a chosen charity of the person who gets me out of this as a thank you.

Do you have a custom or stock recovery installed? Custom recoveries require an unlocked bootloader for the device to boot.

if your locked you should try a RUU first
you need your software version from the bootloader screen
turn phone off then hold power + volume down
if you have fastboot on your pc you can also post the result from
fastboot getvar all (minus you serial no and IMEI)

I was unable to find a RUU for your version. You might check to see if someone has a nandroid backup that they can send to you. Check the EE Community.
Using your volume buttons scroll down to FACTORY RESET then using the PWR button select it. It is a long shot but it might work to get you back up and running again.
Thank you for trying to help.
Am sadly still at a loss with this and it may be going in the bin !

If it is a carrier branded phone, maybe your carrier may allow SIM-unlocking it.

Hi.
Got a never touched G7 Plus from a relative (never touched bootloader ROM etc). Got a unlock key on by the normal procedure at Lenovo/Motorola site but the option to OEM unlock is greyed out in the dev options.
Any clue to have it unlocked?
It came with Android10, downgrading is something good to be tried in this case/device?
People there in motorola forums seems not to be very helpful about this issue

Thanks!
