Does the camera protrude? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know of the camera sticks out from the body at all? That always drives me crazy. Love that it didn't on the nexus 4.

my guess is that the square shape of the HD2 camera will make it difficult to find something like this that will work. anyone know of one that does fit?
for 2.50 its not gonna break the bank.
buy one, try it, if it doesnt work, never mind, if it does, let me know so i can get one

Because a software fisheye effect only gives you the look of a fisheye while doing nothing for your viewing angle. With a fisheye, it actually gives you a wider angle of view, usually 180*.

You have to remember its a big screen with the digitizer and Wacom stuff built in. Sucks, but makes sense.
I think as time passes the price will stabilize at about 120-150 bucks.

Nexus 4 First Impressions

Hi Guys,
I picked up my Nexus 4 from O2 here in the UK this morning, for what it's worth here are my initial thoughts.
I'm coming from a Galaxy Nexus.
As per all the professional reviews, it does seem like a well made piece of kit. The glass back while being another fingerprint magnet is
a nice touch. When moving the phone suddenly or shaking the phone it does rattle. I took it back to O2 and they all the Nexus 4's they had in stock did it. It's loud enough to be noticeable, but not so loud i wanted my money back. The stores explanation was the accelerometer. I'm sure others will shed more light on this in time.
While the screen is crisp it is not as striking as some reviews would have me believe on auto brightness it is pretty dark (Much darker than my gnex on auto)
The sound is excellent but it does suffer from a muffled almost inaudible speaker when the phone is on the side face up on my desk. This has been a gripe of mine on previous phones.
Swipe style typing works really well, as does the new camera software. The pictures are a huge leap up from the Gnex
Battery needs further testing but so far has performed well. Wi Fi also has a FAR better range than the Gnex
My closing thoughts would be if coming from the Galaxy Nexus it may not be a huge leap up for you. If money is an issue i would wait....
But if you are an early adopter i'm sure you will love it.
I'm sorry it's a brief review, i'm no Shakespeare. If anyone has any specific questions though i would be happy to answer.
Shaun
Is the rim made out of pure rubber? I'm just curious about folks with latex allergies, etc.

As per what was said above, it's underneath the glass. I was worried about it looking tacky. But it works well. Hold the phone one way and the back is pure black, then you tilt it and you get the speckle effect. Muck like a hologram on a bank card.
The rattling isn't fine, something is loose or not fit right.

I took it back to the store, they had 5 in stock. All 5 rattled (As crazy as it sounds i wanted to test all of them)
For anyone familiar with the problems on the Sony NEX 5N camera 'Clicking' it's a bit like that.
I have 28 days if it is deemed 'faulty' but until more info comes out on it i'm going to hold on to the phone.
If 5 out of 5 do it i would presume a huge number if not all will, that said i'm surprised it wasn't picked up in any of the reviews.
As google begin to deliver time will tell.

About 12 based on Anandtech's review.
How much would you rate it after buying the phone?

Holy crap, screen cracked!

I was out mowing the lawn and had it on while I was using the weed whipper. Got done and looked down and there was a huge crack across the screen. Apparently the screen is quite brittle. Note to self not to have it on for anything that would be classified as work. My Sony Smartwatch 2 was bulletproof.

As a sidenote, THIS is why you always wear protective eye wear when using a weedwhacker. Can you imagine if a rock fast enough to crack that screen had hit your eye?

They Play Store said they couldn't do anything about it and guided me towards Samsung. I contacted Samsung and it sounds like a 50/50 shot of them warrantying it. If they don't cover it (which I suspect they're going to say), it'll cost about $70.
Now of course, I'll be without it for 10 or so days. :crying:

About 90% of it. I told them I was mowing the lawn and when I got done, I noticed a crack in the screen. Told them I didn't feel anything hit the watch and it wasn't dropped in any way (of which both comments are completely true). I just didn't mention weed whipping.
I want to know what they decide to do!
I knew from looking at it that the flat screen wasn't going to necessarily be a good thing. The Galaxy Gear has a nice curved screen and seems less prone to cracking.
Oy.

Well, lesson learned, they'd only be willing to replace the screen the cost of $161.83. So, that's pretty much at the cost of the device. Their policy is never to cover screen replacement regardless of cause. Even if they have a weak defect in your screen and you just magnified the defect, they don't cover it.
Anyone know of options outside of Samsung Support that can repair this device at a more reasonable cost?

Is it worth a try, yes, but no, I don't really expect them to replace it for free, but c'mon, $161.83 to replace it? The thing cost $199 new. They could at least be reasonable with it. They originally quoted $70 for screen replacement over the phone and when they received it and looked at it, decided $161 was the going rate? I asked if they'd be willing to split it, but they were a no-go.

Question about metal bezel on note 4

Got my replacement note 4 a few days ago,and noticed that the metal bezel sits a little bit higher off the glass on one side then the other, was wondering if this is a normal ,and by off the glass referring to metal lip around glass, not a huge deal,but...None the less it's there.
Your saying that the metal trim....is thick? As in its raised a couple mm? Mine Has It Straight All around....Not Going Above Or Unto Of The glass.
Lol I mean the metal trim raises above the glass, but not evenly.
Yea it's raised above the glass....but evenly lol BRO just enjoy your phone already don't dwell on it bro

Dude I think that's your "gap". Every note 4 has one. it isn't that much a problem like I thought I'd be. I clean my screen all the time hate fingerprints and smugness but I'd say it's "normal" according to the Galaxy Note 4 manual.
Here's 1 more pic,little clearer I guess..

yeah mine has that slight offset. It's the screen that is uneven. Not the frame. It no biggie for me tho. Enjoy your Note 4. Try not to let it bother you.

Little physical imperfections like that are pretty common with all phones. My Note 4 has a slightly loose power button, my Nexus 5 screen was about a millimeter higher on one side than the other...
Unless it's really causing an issue for you I wouldn't worry about it.
I can live with Minor imperfections like this since I trade up phones ever year but screen issues are a big No No for me. God gifted me with 21-21 vision.
