fish-eye lens - HD2 Accessories

anyone tried one of these?
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.22880
my guess is that the square shape of the HD2 camera will make it difficult to find something like this that will work. anyone know of one that does fit?

for 2.50 its not gonna break the bank.
buy one, try it, if it doesnt work, never mind, if it does, let me know so i can get one

Why not a software fish-eye?

tried one of those on the wife's android phone. looks a bit rubbish, tbh.

Because a software fisheye effect only gives you the look of a fisheye while doing nothing for your viewing angle. With a fisheye, it actually gives you a wider angle of view, usually 180*.

Macro Lense Attachment

Hey guys, i was wondeiring if you any of you would know if this
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14953 would fit on the HD2? it looks really nice and i would like a macro lense for it, please get back to me thanks
All I can really say is "Wow". That's kinda crazy. I mean if it was detachable then that would be one thing but it looks like it takes the place of the standard bezel and uses the sticky tape to attach. No more putting the phone in your pocket or hip case at this point.

uhhm it is detachable! lol its connected using MAGNET or its magnetic i just want to knwo if it would fit for the HD2.
Macro lens provides better pictures for close up shots right?
Does this count? Lawl. It's a weird thing that I've obtained either from a broken microscope or something or from some camera. I found it laying around the house so I can't really remember where I got it from. All I know, this baby + any camera = excellent shots. The second picture is a close up of the cloth it was originally sitting on.

yeah that is correct, but im just curious about if that thing would fit on the back of a HD2 lol i know it fits on the evo4g just not sure about the HD2.
I remember seeing an article (possibly on Engadget) about one of these for the HTC Evo and I wondered if there was one for the HD2 at the time... I can't answer your question but I will be following your thread.

2 poisonwolf:
I bought a cheap kids 99p telescope and did get some magnification with it but not as much as yours, well done
I put mine on the back of my n95 but had to zoom in to the maximum to prevent the 'black tunnel' as seen in poisonwolf's second picture.
If you were to buy one, i'd make sure it fits properly so no extra zoom in is required.
Can't you just buy a something like a case mate and stick the lens on the cover?

yeah you could, but an extra layer could mean the magnet isnt as strong for it to stick. so i want to check if it were possible to fit on HD2 with out.
I've looked aound quite a bit for this but so far no go. The HD2 lens protection is moulded like a square blob. I doubt we can find anything that is manufatured with a square base.

but if you think about it. the camera is all round. just the outside is square, but therefore it is connected via magnet so i think regardless of square of cirle?
Anybody seen this?

Whats the diffrence for the US version?
that's the questioni had too, since my understanding was there's no difference except memory. but who knows, I'm not the expert. maybe someone shed light on this matter for us.

batterycover reason for bad pics

Hi
Did just now try to take a picture with and without the backcover on the phone, and without it, the picturs just looks so much more colorful and nice. How do we fix this?
An example: img851[dot]imageshack[dot]us/g/img047d.jpg/
Change the [dot] to real dots. (duh)
Sorry for bad eng, but I hope you understand.

I also have this question after saw the LG VS iPhone photo and video quality test. The O2x's photo like have a white filter and non colorful .
I already ordered it and waiting for arrive. Can u post some compare photo? The original and without the back cover?
Is it possible to replace the Transparent part by DIY a higher quality glass/plastic?
It's night here, so only indoor photos, but you'll get the idea.
And WHY do LG-Home FC every single time I put it into USB Mass Storage? Need custom roms, now!
Anyways, here's the link to some photos packaged with winrar. The last two is shot in a half-dark room with the flash.
www[dot]megaupload[dot]com/?d=NRUVCSR0
Apparently I couldn't post links, so change the [dot] to actual dots.
Kruppin, I get "The file you are trying to access is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later" when I try to download. Got another location to dl from?
Edit: Nevermind, the link is working again
Thanks!
I did try this myself now, but couldn't see any difference. But it might be because its dark here now and cant really get any good shots anyway.

Ofc you get it working right when i've uploaded it elsewhere. Hm, maby you've got a better glass, cus if i look through it, it's like "milky" or something. Anyway, another guy on swedroid noticed it too, so I thought it was for everyone.
Kruppin, yeah typical I'l probably try this tomorrow. Lets just hope there's a replacement cover to order somewhere soon if this really is the case
Btw, thanks for the info!
I tried this myself and i couldn't believe my eyes, the difference is pretty massive.
on the plus-side the camera is actually REALLY good without the back cover on

Yeah, it's like "Wait, I'm just gonna take the backcover of so I can get a decent picture"
But I just can't beleve LG made THIS of a big screwup, i mean, I don't know what to say, I'm speachless. And also they didn't say it had "gorilla glass" which only that can be deal-breakers for many. I think they rushed this phone alittle too much. Dont get me wrong, I love it, but it's some small things I just can't understand how they missed. If LG would replace the backcovers, then I would absolutly love them, but that wont ever happen so hopefully someone releases a replacement cover with a better glass, and looks as nice as LGs own.
Okay, some strong alcohol and very much polishing have made it almost as good as w/o. Yay. Just to polish with a cloth didn't work, which is why I made this thread. So try that.
Can you...somehow remove (gently) the plastic glass from the back cover?
edit, im looking at some pics of the back cover, seems impossible to remove it w/o damaging the rest....thank you LGGGGG

OReally?
What kind of tools should I use for the polishing?
Only alcohol is need? Any other material?
Question is: is it really the glass itself that causes the problem ?
Or could it be that because of the bad positioning of the lens cover fingerprints / dirt can easaly create a fatty film on the glass?
Did you polish the front AND back of the glass or just the side facing outwards?
sounds to me like it could be related to the light sensor being disturbed by the cover

Yes and no, it must be some bad glass, becouse it's enough to just have one fingerprint and the pics sucks again. Or if its too far from the actual lens, so its that what f*cks it up? (It kind of focuses alittle one the fat/dirt) However, I've never got this problem with any other phone, my old N900 for example doesn't care if it's got fingerprints or not. Ofc it doesnt have two glass like the LG have, but thats no excuse.
atkhobby: Yes, I polished both sides of the batterycover. I drained some "cottonsticks" (tops) with alcohol and just polished. BUT, when i touched the glass on the cover again, the picture is worse, but not as bad as first.
Maybe someone knows of something that make glas fat-resistent? I mean, some phones the screen just get fatty almost directly, and some is very resistant and can be cleaned easy.
And again, I hope you can understand my not so good english.

Modifying N7 camera angle

I've found Skype to be a bit awkward on my N7 because the camera is angled at 90degrees from the frame, rather than sloping towards the center of the screen. As a result I have to hold the tablet further away from me, but then I sometimes struggle to hear the audio from the back-facing speaker.
Has anyone else found this? Or, has anyone here heard of other devices where the camera angle has been modified, and how?
Thoughts?
Tilt the tablet slightly
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Pretty sure anything involving tilting the camera would be more trouble than its worth, you may be able to stick a small refractive lens to the front of it but not sure if anyone makes one.

Get a case. The speaker is designed to bounce sound if there's a surface behind it (try putting the tablet flat on a table). Or just hold it such that your hand cups the speaker and redirects sound at your face.

Thanks. I might take my N7 apart and possibly wedge something behind the camera depending on how its secured. A small adjustment to the angle would go a long way.
Will let you know if I am able to make any good progress on this.

He's obviously saying that tilting the tablet up a bit is a lot easier than screwing up something trying to modify the camera. I suggest looking long and hard at tear-downs before you attempt anything.

I know exactly what the problem is. And my suggestion is that the easiest way to fix it is to simply tilt the tablet to aim the camera where you want to aim it. Sorted.

I wrote that having the camera at a 90 degree angle to the frame makes for awkward Skype conversations.
Now this next part is critical as to why your suggestion doesn't address anything: If I tilt the frame, the camera is still at 90 degrees to the frame. If you don't believe me, try it.
I haven't pulled my N7 apart to do anything other than loosen and tighten the screws. Looking through the bezel at the camera I see what appears to be some space between the camera and the bezel. This might not actually be the case, but it looks like it is. If the camera is anything like the camera built into my S2 it can be slightly angled with some gentle coaxing. Given the narrow angle of the camera optics I don't believe the edge of the bezel would interfere by blocking part of the camera's image, either.
Perhaps a good place to start is the ifixit tear-downs per suggestion above. Thanks!
Cheers,
Had a look through ifixit, see step 13 on the below link.
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus-7-Teardown/9623/2
Unfortunately, the connector appears to be on the wrong axis for easy bending / tilting. It would have to be twisted which doesn't work well.

Actually in that teardown, it appears to be attached via a really short ribbon that might flex a little...
So it may be possible, with the right application of something really thin at the front of the camera on the inside edge, and something at the back behind the camera on the outside edge might be enough to tilt it slightly for your purposes, something thin like a tiny slit of paper, or a tiny bit of sticker you could cut from a bumper sticker maybe.

[Q] Camera problem? Or factory ?:D

Dear all,
I am a proud owner of this phone for a few days now, but I noticed that the camera stretches the picture on the top. Let me try to explain, so when I take a picture of a person then the forehead is abnormally stretched... of course not only with the head, but everything...
Is it normal? or Faulty camera?
you can see it on the attachments..

It is a tradeoff that happens with the choice to go with a widescreen lense (maybe their is a more accurate way of saying that?). If you compare the One with any other phone (that I know of) you will see that it gets much more into the picture when held horizontally. The tradeoff to this is that pictures look stretched when taken in portrait mode. So what you are seeing is normal.
I agree that I don't like the stretching, but man is it nice being able to get so much I to a picture when you hold the phone horizontally.

Not anymore, I took back the phone and got an s4 at least I can find out now which one is better
Thanks for the help
Check out this picture as an example. I was the only one in the room that was able to get this picture. Maybe if the wall went back a couple feet, someone else could get the same picture without cutting people right next to them out.
So, sucks a bit to stretch pictures out in portrait, but this is pretty damn cool.

I have to say that I checked my camera and I don't see anything like in zimilaci's video. So for me it actually doesn't look normal.
I don't know why my wide angle photos show a fish-eye type distortion where only the part where the photo is focussed is clear and everything else seeps into a slight blur.
Feature not a bug. It *is* a wide angle lens. Wide angle lenses start to exhibit fish eye distortion the wider they go. Anything in the corners of the frame is not going to be orthogonal. End of story.
If you think it's bad on the back camera, try the front facing camera lol http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260286

Note 8 moment case?

Alright everybody does anybody know how the moment case and lenses are going to work with a dual camera set up?? Curious if it will only work on one camera?
Pre-Order Link just came out today for it
https://www.shopmoment.com/shop/photo-case/note-8/black
If you look at the photo, it looks like there are mounts over both cameras, so I would assume that it will work with both cameras.
Thanks for posting this, I missed the announcement and was wondering if they'd make a mount/case for the Note 8.

Yeah I also noticed that but did not know how it would interact just wondering if anybody knew anything or had video of it. I mean note has a wide angle already will the wide lens make it like double that? LOL sorry just trying to figure out if i should order!
And no problem I have been really wanting to try one. Was going to get one for my pixel 2 xl but screen was too blue for me so guess I will try on note!
From my experience the lens screws into the case and sits flush to the camera. The Note 8 "wide" lens is actually not extremely wide, so there shouldn't be any vignetting or image quality problems.
The optics of the Moment lenses are superb, and yeah, the wide angle lens will make the view super wide!
I've had the Moment lenses since they were introduced and their customer support is always good and willing to help.
