Last night I pulled the apk for LauncherPro off of my phone, renamed to .zip, and had a look at its guts. I wound up modifying the stock white LP default icons (because plan white is boring) and repushed the apk to my phone and reinstalled it. It works great, and the icons look fantastic, however... as long as I don't re-distribute it, is this okay?
I suppose nobody can stop me. So maybe this is a stupid question.
If you're not distributing it no ones gonna care, or even know for that matter.
Hi,
I've got a question.
I've secured all my apps with TitaniumBackup yesterday and changed the icon of every app, just the icon.png in "/res/drawable/" respectively "/res/drawable-hdpi/".
After this I marked the apps with Auto-Sign. To come to the point..:
Some of the apps, approximately the half, can be restored with the new icons by TitaniumBackup. Others however quit the installation with 'Application not installed'. By what can this be caused? (boah, das klingt scheiße, naja, egal) I don't get it.
I earlier have already modified, signed and restored eFile sucessfully as an experiment on this was, but the same app (the same eFile) can't be restored now. I've changed the icon on eFile again and now it doesn't work anymore. But if I take the earlier edited eFile-app (even with another icon), it can be installed again. Where's my mistake?
Are there perhaps any icon-rules on every respective app because some apps work with these new icons...? I even updated the icon's sizes as they were originally. Something goes wrong there..
Is it the signature or the icon? I don't get it at the moment.
Yours faithfully,
Benny
EDIT:
It can't be reduced to the signature because the .apk doesn't work in "/System/App". So it is due to the icons, but where is my mistake?
PS:
If I just change the icon's colour, just as I've done it on the other icon (which works), the app even doesn't work with the colour-edited icon?!
I've attached the App.apk, so you can test it on your own. It wont work.
With the help of my sisters bf we rooted and flashed the Synergy rom on my Bionic last night. I have to say it was pretty simple. Main reason for doing it was extended battery life, smoother operation, and free wifi tethering. Now since Im a complete newb. How do I go about customizing my phone a little more? Such as themes and so on?
Also whats some apps that I should get now that I am rooted (besides titanium backup)?
Congrats! I just installed my first Rom the other day as well. I had been waiting for a while because I was going to be due for an upgrade in a couple months, but it kept lagging so bad I couldn't take it anymore. Now I'm running the ICS based Blurry Maxx v3.8 ROM. I had been upgrading that to the 4.1.2 version but every time I did I ended up with problems and lag so I just decided to stay on v 3.8. Being ICS based and not kernal on kernal I have fully functioning camera and bt. I made a few mods to the battery icon (made him a little android andy) and to the toggle widgets you get on the drop down. As well I was able to chance my drop down and boot animations. I don't know how I lived before this it's SO much faster. Good luck and happy modding!

Where do I download that kinda stuff?
Also I was reinstalling all my apps I had on my phone previously but now it says their is insufficient app space. Why isn't there enough space?
How big did you make the partition? You should usually do about 2gb/partition to have enough room for apps and stuff. Try getting a program like app to sd and moving as much as you can onto an sd card, that might free up some space. As far as the icons and stuff go I combined two flashable packs, one for the battery and one for the toggle widgets i liked and put them into a new systemui.apk Also I changed the background picture while doing this. I'm new to romming so i'm not sure if this would brick your rom and cause you to have to reinstall it as they systemui is for blurry maxx rom. I would assume it would be a problem. Also if you're not very computer savy I had to decompile and recompile the apk after editing, install, move to new folder, change permissions, then rename it. Kind of labor intensive and took me a couple reflashes to get it all right if you know what I mean. I can post the flashable update if you want to try to use it but be warned it may not work. Also send me a picture you would like to use for the drop down and I'll add that in there as well. Unless you like the one I have then I can send you the file in the morning. Happy flashing!
Hello,
I've got a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini (GT-i8190). I love that phone's size, the 4" screen and the cpu&ram&storage spaces are enough for me.
But (!)
I hate touchwiz. It's lagging, it's have some ugly icons, functions, and GUI elements. I love the HTC's Sense gui, and the android 4.2's stock gui is clean, logical, and pretty too. I tried to use some of launchers but using a launcher is not a solution, because these launchers uses more of RAM (and the Samsung apps are running in the background). I'd like to use a SGS3 Mini with original android OS without any idiot samsung apps.
Is there a solution for that? What about CyanogenMod? I know they have an alpha5 version, but if I install that rom, I won't be able to use my phone as a phone...
Thanks,
Richard
If you are rooted, you can remove Samsung Apps with Titanium Backup or some other app altogether with Touch Wiz launcher and install whatever launcher (Holo, Go, etc) you like.
Today the first usable version of CyanogenMod was released by macław at www.maclaw.pl, give it a try if bugs don't scare you.
Aside TB and freezing bloatware as already suggested, Root is a must, then do some read and eventually deodex and install enox theme, install Nova prime or any other good launcher and choose icon theme of your choice. No memory hogging etc and all the same you can have great looking and performing interface...
¡Hi Everyone!
Like the title says I want to remove various of the Stock LWPs from my JB ROM, because I don't like them, I don't use them, etc and every single KB counts in a Nexus One.
I want to remove Water - Black Hole - Espectrum - Spiral - Grass and Smoke, I want to keep Bubbles, Phase Beam and Nexus.
By the way, I need the names of the APK's because I tried to Unnistall them with Titanium but it hangs and doesn't remove them.
