Hey guys, I just got a replacement of my One (previous one had capacitative buttons' light leaking out of the rightmost bottom part). I just noticed that I have a stuck pixel in here (white) and but not black (which means it's dead, right?). So I was thinking to get a replacement again, but I'm afraid that the other one may have more stuck / dead pixels than this one, because I've read people complaining about multiple pixel problems. So, what do you guys say? Should I get a replacement or just wait for the pixel to un-stuck itself?
The only thing that irks me is that it's in the middle of the whole screen.
*BUMP*
Anyone?
There's a few apps that help with stuck pixels, they just flash the screen multiple colors until the pixel fires correctly.
I had 3 stuck pixels when I got this phone but within a week they fixed themselves
Sent from my Tricked out HTC One
I have about 6 dead/stuck pixels. Tried the apps for a hour, i just requested a new device. Waiting for htc to send me another one before i ship mine back

I did use this app, the impact of the stuck pixel have seemed to be lowered (ran the app 3 times for 30 minutes) as compared to before. But it didn't vanish completely.
Ignore it... I had my HTC One for 2 months now and when I got it there was no stuck pixels... Then within the 2 months usage stuck pixel are popping out and just disappearing within days of ignoring it. Some last for weeks but they all eventually disappeared. I only have 1 stuck pixel now on my unit where somewhere within the 1st month it manage to produce up to 6 stuck pixels.
Wow. I was just thanking my stars a couple days ago that my One was perfect. No gaps in the corners, no dead pixels, no faulty camera, no nothing. But it bricked and now I'm gonna have to get a replacement. Hope my luck holds out.

Just for the clarification; was it a white pixel? And if you increase the brightness of the screen, the brightness of the stuck pixel also increases?
Yes it is white sometimes changing color constantly I know what stuck, hot and dead pixels are
And by the way it's not noticeable on lowest brightness so yeah it's visible only on high brightness

Thanks a bunch, you saved me from getting my second replacement. I was just clarifying my concept of stuck pixel, and not judging your knowledge.
Oh yeah, and what was the average period they got fixed by themselves? How many days / weeks?
Like I said it's random... Only those I've noticed is 4days, 9 days and the longest was I think 5 weeks I always noticed the 5 weeks because it seems like 2 pixels got stuck which is side by side to each other so it created a much brighter white. But it got fixed by itself in 5 weeks estimate. Not sure how it got fixed though probably the constant video playback(I'm an anime junky) or must have cured itself because I'm always setting brightness to the lowest level.
If pixel fixers which changes color everytime does indeed fix these issues then I'm pretty sure it got fixed because of the video playback... Watching anime videos for 4 hours a day sometimes 8 on weekends is an overkill for constant color shifts.

Did you ever try pixel fixer? And that anime stuff is very interesting (changing colors). I used pixel curer for like 80+ minutes on my phone but the pixel doesn't even change itself from white or I think I might not be able to notice as it is so small.
Thanks for all the help, I am limited to 8 thanks / day, so as soon as 24 hours pass on, I'll thank you for all your posts.

80minutes is nothing compared to mine... When I watch an anime you can compare it to running pixel fixer for 4 hours a day And like I said it get's fixed in days or even weeks.
So running 80minutes of pixel fixer is not even comparable to what I do on my phone
xperia e stuck piel
I recently got an xperia e on orange pay as you go from my local carphone warehouse. Last night i noticed a blue/white spot on the screen. After looking at the screen closely more smailer specs appear when you tilt the device around but this one stays visible throughout. They are especially visible in the dark but not so much in sunlight. Another thing to note is that it only appears on dark backgrounds e.g. black.
I have tried a stuck pixel fixer for about half an hour but to no avail.
Since its only a few days old i thought i could return it to carphone warehouse but dose anyone have experience of doing this. I know, because i got my phone on orange, that i can not just replace it for no reason. However i would like to know would they try to fob me off by saying that they can't see them or saying there needs to be more of them to warrant a return. There are a few other things i could say to get a return. For example the proximity sensor does not work in the diagnostics app and there is "no signal" at my house Its hard to get a picture of it otherwise i would've included one.
So really my question is should i try and return it (in the uk we have pretty strong consumer laws (the sale of goods act)) or should I just ignore it and run the flashing light show for longer.
Thanks
James
I though i had a white stuck pixel on my notification bar, i took a screen shot, and it appears on the image, so it appears it is part of the stock htc one wallpaper.

Tell us if the Note 4 is all you thought it would be?
Like I said before, these are all from within a year lol.... I switched from an iphone last November 2013
First was a Xperia Z1 (battery life was eh), Galaxy S4, HTC One M7, Galaxy S5 (only thing I miss is water resistance), LG G3 (love this phone but screen was not that great and very dim in the daytime) and now to my love of my life note 4! BEAUTIFUL! only thing I don't like is no option for soft keys (menu key has LAG and I don't like the Back button on the right side.

Galaxy S4. Experience has been underwhelming. Wonky GPS (loses the signal if phone is resting on my leg in the car), some apps occasionally think there is no wifi connection when there is (and being used by other apps). Aesthetically, it's a bit boxy for my taste. ART runtime isn't ready for actual use (causes the system to "update" 66 apps when I boot, extending boot time to about 5 mins, every time).

I came from a Galaxy S3 and so far I'm really loving my new device. I was really close to getting the S5 but a few days/weeks after the S5 announcement, I started to read about the Note 4. It was a loooong wait but well worth it. The screen is amazing and just the size alone will make surfing the web and watching videos a lot more enjoyable.
I've played with the S-Pen and really enjoy it, which brings me to my question. I can't seem to figure out how to use the s-pen like a mouse when selecting text. I know there is an slightly different method using Air Command for this type of thing but I'm looking for the mouse-like text selecting. I thought that all I had to do was hold the button on the s-pen then drag and slide to select but it's not working for me. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

My wife bought a 6+ when it was released. I've used it some.
From the original Galaxy ---through--> Galaxy S4 -> Note...skipped the S5 because I had the Note II -> Note III -> Now .....NOTE 4
Extremely happy with it. Can't gripe about much but here are some things I really wish they kept on or added*:
USB 3.0
Tempreture Sensor
Humidity Sensor
Speaker on the bottom and not on the back like it is now on the Note 4
4GB of RAM*
Here are the things I'm very grateful for:
The best screen EVER to date
Faster CPU
Faster GPU
METAL!
Better Camera/Sensor
Slightly bigger battery
Relocation of the SIM and microSD slot! No longer have to remove battery like you did on the Note 3
Redesigned rear cover (MUCH better, no more fake stitching)
Curved 2.5D screen
Heart Rate/O2 Sensor
UV Sensor....ehhh...either way pretty cool, but I'd rather have a TEMP and HUMIDITY sensor instead
METAL!
Did I say METAL?!
Finally what we've all been waiting for. A phone that feels like a million bucks in your hand.

I agree with you on that. My wife loves her iPhone as well.
The latest device I came from is the LG G3. Before that from last year, I went through the Xperia Z, HTC One M7, LG G2, Xperia Z1, before settling on Nexus 5.
I love the Note so far, first note I've tried. One thing I don't like is the lag from pressing the recents button, but I can live with it. Also not fond of the gap on the right side as I constantly have to blow the dust out, but again I can live with it. All in all best phone I've used so far and touchwiz is not as bad as it was before.
One thing though, I do like to use the pen to write my texts or Web addresses sometimes, and it's quite finicky in terms of recognizing what I type out. Sometimes I have to erase and retry several times which is annoying.
Hey ive put my note 8 under the sink a few times to quickly wash it. But today idk if this is related after over 2 hours after I washed it (ports are wet) notification was long gone my phone suddenly while watching a youtube restarted itself. Im a very paranoid person about my stuff and this has been my priotiry for the past hours. Please tell me im just overegagarating because im going to flip it. Yesterday my 5 year old brother accidebtally hit my note i with a waterbottle. I NEARLY FLIPPED. Is this happening to other people so far its was only 1 reboot. :crying::crying:
I would definitely say you're over exaggerating. My note did it at least once same with S8+.

It's the same thing as if your computer bluescreens, it just detected a problem with some of the active data in the system. But instead of "halting" it restarts instead.
I've had 2 random reboots, but nothing to alarm me, yet...
I see some people saying they only get around 3-4 hours sot. I just got my note yesterday. I haven't disabled anything and have brightness at 40% and my battery has only dropped 5% in 30 mins... Therefore at this pace I'd get around 10 hours screen on time.

yes you will, yesterday at 50% battery I had over 5 hour SOT including listening to music for 2 hours, that was with over 10 hours on the battery, my Note 8 runs in performance mode all the time and wifi and mobile data always on.
people who can't get 6+ hours SOT needs to look at their setup and use, I have two Note 8 and both of them are the same.
Try and run it in performance mode all the time for a week instead of installing 3rd party apps helping you to save power etc....

It's weird but if you read through many of the SOT/Battery threads you will notice a consistency. People who started right off disabling and tweaking apps have experienced poor SOT/Battery Life. People who just use the phone and let it do whatever it's going to do, have good SOT/Battery Life with slight variations due to usage. It seems with the note 8 that disabling apps may be counter intuitive to battery life.
I get approx 1 hour screen time per 10% battery until a certain point in the battery. So I average over 8 hours SOT typically.
Yes, this has been good device so far.

You can also download Samsung Phone Info and it will also tell you that info. I bought my Note 8 used, and the original owner threw the box away.
According to Phone Info, my build date is 09/15/2017 and its HW rev. 1.0.
I can MAYBE see some "light leak" on the right side. I have to be in pitch black, with the screen white and full brightness. Still not sure thats what I'm seeing. It actually looks like the light reflecting off the edge of my clear protective skin on the frame. It is so hard to see I simply can't tell.
The biggest complaint I have is the edges have a slight pink tint. If Samsung would add the edge tint option like they did withe S8+, then it would be easy to fix. But even that complaint is minute. I'm just mentioning things if I had to nitpick.
This device is beautiful and my favorite phone by far, followed by my Coral Blue S8+, which is now my backup device. Man I wish they would release the Note 8 in Coral Blue. Like the Coral Blue of the S7 Edge.

Oh I know. I've had three S8+ (don't ask LOL). The third one (whichI kept) has a PERFECT screen. No pink tint, completely even color all across the screen, no need to adjust the screen tint or temperature, no discolored edges. It is perfect. The screen and Coral Blue color is why I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it, so I kept it as a backup device.
I would consider my Note 8 screen about 99% perfect. The edges have a slight pink tint, and it is just a little warmer overall compared to my S8+, but certainly not pink. Just warmer.
I do wish they would add the edge tint adjustment though. That would make my Note 8 Screen 100% perfect.

Probably not. Since my first note, pre-order was ten days out in respect to deliver date.

Hi All,
I am facing screen burn in issue within months of using this phone, am I the only UNLUCKY one?
EDIT: Update, Got phone back from ASC, they told the display was defective and they replaced Display and Battery, I see some dust particles in the Camera Lens and Flash modules but its okay as its not affecting the Camera performance. But I still think if I use it the same way as before the Burn in is imminent :crying:
Have you been spending the whole day on facebook and watching youtube vertically ?
I've had my ROG 2 since mid September and I'm basically on it constantly, I'm always using it, and I just tested mine for burn in and I can't even find the slightest little bit of burn in anywhere.
So everyone needs to understand that if they want to bring up burn in issues it is always needed to post some pictures taken by another camera
To test your phone for burn in its better to test a fully gray picture cause it shows most uniformity or burn in issues
Also try to test a fully blue picture, blue shows even the slightest burns

Image added, there's already a post in Zentalk Forums, just wanted to get expert opinions of XDA members, Thanks.
History: I used ROG 2 only purely for gaming as I already have Note 9 as my primary and daily driver, I played long sessions of PUBG Mobile mostly and the signs of burn in started kicking in within 3 months of usage.
Have given the phone to ASC, they told they will replace the screen under warranty. Waiting for an update from them.

Yes, I think you may have been unfortunate with a defective device. It's good that you still have warranty.
This is unfortunate news.
I have turned off the suggestion bar on the Google keyboard so I don't burn in the Google logo. I have gone dark mode on everything and have also enabled full immersive mode to hide the status bar when possible. I've gone to the extreme of using Waze only on another phone via hotspot from the ROG II.
Sounds extreme but after getting burn in twice on my s8+, I'm taking no chances with this phone.
I feel your pain and hopefully it's just a defect.
Guys dont panic! Burn in will happen at some point even if you use dark theme and everything, and the screen isnt that expensive anyways.
But i have a question from the op, which app are these burns coming from and on what brightness level do you normaly use the phone???!

You are absolutely RIGHT! BurnIn is gonna happen if not now but in days to come for anyone its the drawback of AMOLED.
The burn in was of the PUBG Mobile Buttons and HUD layouts which was the only game I mostly played in my phone for long hours and at times at max brightness which seems to have been the cause. But again my complaint is ASUS puts out banner as GAMING BEAST, then they should have probably gone with a LCD screen instead of AMOLED imho.
You are damn right they should have! A gaming phone with OLED panel is just a joke! In no time we will have burnins from all static HUD content of different games lol
I'm getting burn in from the Call of Duty HUD.
This is actually quite annoying and it will only get worse
Although I really enjoy using this phone with its no notch display and rgb eye on the back, I would definitely get an lcd high end phone If I could...
