hello
hi guys. i have a question.
do i need to flash a new rom after update the firmware on my htc one?
or can i just update the firmware and do nothing on the rom.
hboot-1.57 in one m7ul s-on
Can I download hboot-1.57 in one m7ul s-on
In less than 1.56 ... 1.55 ? ?
Τhanks .
which firmware do I start with
@vomer, I'm unlocked with custom recovery, rooted and have s-off, question, I'm on the firmware version my phone shipped with, 5.12.502.2......what do I flash here for latest firmware, do I do the 5.11.xxx (401 or 1540? - 1540 is the developer build no?, why is that the only developer one in that list, i don't do both the 401 and 1540 correct?) or do I skip 5.11 and go straight to the latest 6.0.xxx ? I ask because the 5.12 was released in August where as the 5.11 is listed as May or something.
Thanks and let me know, great guide!
latest firmwares
oh and @vomer, are you going to update this with the latest firmwares for m7_ul? I noticed there is now a 6.0.11 and 6.0.12 - i tried to flash them from android revolution but my device bricked / hung on boot, had to reset to stock with guru reset and flash original firmware...which ultimately means i wasted a bunch of time previously...later noticed that ARHD requires re-locked bootloader...maybe this is what bricked it?? Did you remove that requirement from the ones you posted and I just didn't know? or were those firmwares just not compatible with the stock rom based on 5.12 from att from before I changed my CID with your guide? I'm really not sure what happened but I had waited to flash a custom rom but couldn't once i tried to flash later than your 6.0.10 listed (and yes I had changed my CID via your guide and had used .401 builds - does that number even matter once you're super CID?
Thanks!
am i screwed?
Sup,
Been on the XDA forums for two days now (totally rad) trying to return my phone to stock and bootloader locked for warranty trying all sorts of methods and I think I am screwed but I would love anyone to clarify
status:
-nandroids, OTA and guru reset available but no RUU available (HTC one m7, Telstra, Australia)
-rom - guru reset android 4.2.2, hboot 1.57, latest twrp
-bootloader unlocked, phone rooted, s-on.
Problem:
Only way to s-off with hboot 1.57 is to use sunshine which won't work for me. I want to roll back to hboot 1.44 so I can achieve s-off by revone and lock the phone back up with flags removed. My understanding is that being there is no RUU using a nandroid to roll hboot back to 1.44 is my only choice and to do so I have to change the CID on my device to match the nandroid CID. Unfortunately you can't modify your phones CID if you don't have s-off so it's a bit of a catch 22.
Is this correct or am I screwed?

cannot load = can't find the file. Make sure your file is at the correct location (in this case on your desktop) or even simpler, move it to the same folder you have fastboot installed and run "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip"

I haven't been able to connect to GPS satellites for quite sometime. Would flashing the latest radio fix this and do I need to be s-off to do so or can I just fire that baby up in twrp? I'm running the latest official dirty unicorns ROM. Also is the a link somewhere that I can find the latest radio that I could flash if it were this simple?? Thank you thank you.

You need to know your MID as well as your CID. Watch out for the M7 UL or M7 U in the filename (make the correct choice): http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/ruu-file-downloads/
If you're still having difficulty to find/choose your RUU, just follow step 1 from the guide (link in my previous reply) and post it here, but remove your serial and imei.

This RUU should work fine for you. :cyclops:
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...1-27_10-31-1131-05_release_310878_signed-exe/
Just download and run it. Keep it safe if you ever need to return to 100% stock again. Your S-OFF and unlocked bootloader will stay unchanged and you will be able to receive OTAs.
An alternate solution would have been to adb push a stock/custom ROM to your device and then flash it in custom recovery, but maybe the RUU method is easier for you.

Glat that it worked out for ya , you should have system version with 401 in it , it's interational EU base , you should have update on your phone , i've got it when i went back to stock to apply OTA. if it doesn't work use THIS http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-401-1-zip/
It's stock HTC One rom , the one you need , that's the one i used and applied ota i'm HTC_032 cid , it's pretty much same like yours since the 401 base supports more cids like yours HTC_001 , 401 rom has these cids :
HTC__001, HTC__E11
HTC__102, HTC__203
HTC__405, HTC__Y13
HTC__304, HTC__032

1. At 1st question you need unlocked bootloader , if you have s-off you can do it without need of htc ( also no need to lock bootloader when applying ota ) then you flash recovery via fastboot after that go to recovery and flash the Rom I gave you link for and update to latest 3.62 with new hboot and radio. ( remember to select when flashing the Rom above " flash stock radio / recovery " )
After applying ota you can flash recovery of your choice and flash any Rom. My suggestion is do what I wrote here mainly so you get latest hboot / radio. Then make a nandroid backup of stock Rom and keep it for next ota.
2nd question :
Yes you can flash any Rom on any hboot version we have right now. But it's adviced to apply latest hboot / radio for better compatibility.
@ rooting , root is not needed for flashing roms all you need is unlocked bootloader for recovery , this isn't Sony :sly:

thanks a lot man! im already on Android Revolution 31. thank u for helping me!
Hi. I'v got friend's HTC One on stock 4.3 (3.63.161.6). I need to flash stock 4.3 Europe that has Polish language included.
I've downloaded this stock RUU:
RUU_M7_U_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.29.401.2_R_Radio_4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01_release_311663_signed_2_4.exe
How do I flash it? Is it safe to flash it on my friend's HTC One that has stock 4.3 (3.63.161.6), S-ON and locked bootloader (the phone was never rooted, modded etc.)? Should I first S-OFF and unlock bootloader? What tool do I use to flash this RUU? What are these CID and MID about? Should I care about them?
It's the first time I'm working with a HTC, so I'm a total HTC noob. I only had few Samsungs and currently a Nexus 4 and know how to work with these but not HTC.

1- you'll need s-off to be able to downgrade
2- how about sharing a "fastboot getvar all" (removing IMEI and s/n before posting)
Thanks for quick reply. Is there a RUU stock Europe ROM in such a version, so I wouldn't need to S-OFF; so I woudn't need to downgrade the firmware?

1- you're going to have to change CID to HTC__032 for Eastern Europe country/language
2- your MID is PN0710000, so this RUU: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...1-27_10-31-1131-05_release_310878_signed-exe/
(the other one is for PN0711000, ie M7_U not UL)
(steps 1 and/or 2 NEED S-OFF)
3- if you dont want to go through all that hassle, why not try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.c_lis.ccl.morelocale or similar and see if that does the job.
Thanks. I'm now S-OFF, changed CID and waiting for the RUU you've provided to download. I'malso on custom rom - slimbean 4.3. Do I need to somehow flash stock before installing the ruu?
OK. Im on SlimBean. I'm running the RUU fomr bootloader mode, it starts OK, asks if I wont to update from: 3.63.161.5 to: 1.28.401.7. I click next. The update starts and after a minute an error appears (error 155: error updating image) and the update stops. I can still boot the device to fastboot, so it isn't bricked. What do I do now to flash the RUU?
After installing the RUU, what do I have to do for the OTA updates to work? Do I have to S-ON or lock the bootloader?

NO NO, no s-on no locking!! U need to downgrade hboot to 1.44 first (& separately), then ruu will work just fine.
Check guru, or my guide in my signature (only the hboot downgrade).
I'm off for tonight...

To expand on nkk71's post..
If you’re on hboot which is above 1.44, then first thing is to downgrade that:
so download this: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/1-29-401-12_hboot_1-44-zip/
in bootloader/FASTBOOT USB, flash it:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip 1.29.401.12_hboot_1.44.zip
fastboot flash zip 1.29.401.12_hboot_1.44.zip <---- just in case the above said “failed flush again”
fastboot reboot-bootloader
--> and confirm hboot is now 1.44

Then run the RUU..
Thanks a lot! So now I've got hboot 1.29.401.12_hboot_1.44 but I want to flash RUU which is 1.28, namely this one: RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13.3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe.
Is it OK? Also, I'm currently on SlimBean, can I flash the RUU straight over SlimBean 4.3, SlimBean custom kernel and custom CWM recovery?
Yes, as long as you are S-OFF... flash away the RUU. It will overwrite all partitions.
OK. I flashed the RUU. Do I now have to do sth for the OTA updates to work with the phone? Or can I start updating the phone straight away?
Not really, connect to wifi, and start smashing Check Update button.. you should get about 2-4 updates as you installed one of the oldest RUU
Thank you all for your replies. The phone now officially has polish language and I'm in the process of udpating it via OTA. Everything works fine! Thanks again
Perfect, please mark the thread as [SOLVED] and give thanks to nkk71!

Does the phone boot into OS? If so, then it was overwritten during either the flash of an earlier version of TWRP or Cyanogenmod. If you were to flash a new firmware then it would be restored.

Thanks for your reply, It does boot up normally and the phone is perfectly fine so your saying it has been overwritten by either the recovery or custom rom and thats why it isnt showing?
based on this i could flash the latest firmware 6.09.401.5?
Again Thanks.

As long as it is higher or equal to your version, and if you are s-on you will have to lock your bootloader.

you can more or less infer your firmware version, from hboot version:
hboot 1.44 = 1.xx.xxx.x
hboot 1.54 = 2.xx.xxx.x
hboot 1.55 = 3.xx.xxx.x
hboot 1.56 = 4.xx.xxx.x (in some rare cases 5.xx)
hboot 1.57 = 5.xx.xxx.x and 6.xx.xxx.x
however, i would recommend you flash them incrementally, since firmwares are usually extracted from OTAs they expect the previous changes to already have been applied, so depending on the firmware package you intend on using (some of them have been repackaged to include previous changes), you could end up in trouble.
(for example, flashing a 5.xx ota firmware while on 3.xx or lower firmware will result in QHSUSB_DLOAD mode, and you'd have to try [UNBRICK][BETA] HTC Unbricking Project)
so i recommend you flash them incrementally.

OK Thanks for the advice still i dont know what firmware it is even if it is 2.XXXXX because im on Hboot 1.54 but i geuss i could start with just one increment up from the lowest 2.XXXXX version only thing is im paranoid about attempting to flash an older firmware and it mess up the phone.

are you s-off? then you can flash unsigned firmware, and you can go straight to 3.62.401.1
i personally use these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365506
(in that thread, even the 6.09.401.5 firmware has all the previous files included so it should be safe to go directly to 6.09, but i personally prefer incremental, just in case)
can you post a "fastboot getvar al"l (excluding IMEI and s/n)
PS: the real problem was for people with 3.xx firmware or lower going to 5.xx firmware (from OTA) which was missing SBL3 from 4.xx (another Secondary Bootloader), which would cause the device to go into QHSUSB_DLOAD

fyi, looks like you have a rumrunner/firewater ENG hboot in there, that will be gone once you update, you'll be back on normal hboot.
I would personally flash the following versions incrementally from vomers thread
- 3.62.401.1
- 4.19.401.8
- 4.19.401.11
- 5.11.401.10
- 6.09.401.5
(there is some redundancy doing this since the versions from 4.19.401.11 upwards, vomer has included all previous updates too, but better safe than sorry)

Lost on all this hboot and firmware discussion for HTC ONE M7
I have a sprint M7, rooted, S-on, running viper rom on it now 4.4.2.
using one of the posts from near the bottom of a thread regarding HTC firmwares, i will paste the data and ask my questions, perhaps one of you guru's can explain this better to me. my comments are Italicized. original comments are BOLD
I made a modified HBOOT for latest firmware - no red warning !
is 'red warning' actually the 'pink wording of "unlocked" i see in the bootloader
made after hboot 1.57.0000 for M7 6.09.401.10
i have hboot 1.57 and i know this created difficulties getting s-off. but i am confused on previous attempts to get S-off on 1.57.
i do not see anything about the "6.09.xxx.xx" in my phone information. i dont see anything even close to a firmware info section other than 4.4.2. where do i find that info? i am trying to update to viper rom 4.4.3 but i need to 'have latest firmware' in order to do so, but i cant figure out which one i have and which one to move up to. for some reason my phone is showing as M7_wls. shouldnt i be M7_spr or whatever the sprint variant is?
Instructions :
Flash from bootloader :
fastboot oem rebootRUU
what the hell is RUU??
fastboot flash zip hboot_1.57.0000_M7_6.09.401.10 - no red.zip
again, how do i find which version i have
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot reboot
Enjoy !
i understand the instructions, familiar with bootloader commands and fastboot
Is 6.06.401.1 the latest firmware?
Is it the latest firmware? Do you keep track of new ones being released?

Good day everyone,
I have a M7 bought in AT&T (Cingular) USA, I have rooted, unlocked, CID 11111111 and got s-off, but I would like to change to Unlocked/Developer version, so my question are:
should I flash with "Firmware 5.11.1540.9, NO Red Warning" and then run the oficial RUU "6.07.1540.2"?
or what steps do I have to do to get .1540.?

Both the Int'l and DevEd get their updates directly from HTC. For you to change to the Int'l you will have to change your MID as well as your CID. Here are the steps:
Here are the steps to re-branding your phone to DevEd:
Unlock bootloader if not unlocked already!
Install Custom recovery
Download TWRP 2.6.3.3 from here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
Achieve S-OFF
With your hboot 1.5x use rumrunner or firewater to get S-Off: http://firewater-soff.com/ or http://rumrunner.us/
Try all options!
Change CID to the new code:
Code:
[B][I]adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem writecid BS_US001[/I][/B] <- (CID is exactly 8 characters)
[B][I]fastboot reboot-bootloader[/I][/B]
Execute RUU_4.19.1540.9.exe which now matches your CID & MID
There is no need to lock/relock bootloader with S-OFF, and do not even THINK about going back to S-ON!!!
Now you can receive the OTAs or flash them manually.
OTA 5.11.1540.9 - 4.19.1540.9
OTA 6.07.1540.1 - 5.11.1540.9
RUU 6.07.1540.2

upgrading firmware
I've been successful upgrading my m7 firmware (thank you) but afterwards I can receive texts n calls but cannot send either out. I tried manually entering APN setting (Verizon) with no luck. Any suggestions?
Cannot update firmware
Hi!
I tried downloading several firmware zips but none works for me. I keep getting the android_info error. The bootloader is unlocked, i've rooted the phone, tried everything but it just wont work. I really need to update my phone coz it's still in Jellybean. I don't get OTA updates too.
Here's my phone details:
Model: HTC ONE M7
MID: PN0714000
CID: HTC_622
Android Version: 4.3
Sense 5.5
Software number: 3.62.401.1
HTC SDK API Level: 5.65
Can anyone point me to the right firmware zip for the above details? I can't install the new versions without updating my firmware.
Please help!
Hi
Apologies in advance if this is an obvious question; I have looked through the forum but cant find a concise answer to my queries. I am coming from a HOX and my friend gave me his broken screened UK O2 branded LTE M7 as such not yet familiar with the M7. I have replaced the broken screen and fitted a new battery which was a great deal more awkward than working on the HOX!
The CId is 02_001 running HBOOT 1.61 and S-ON, I have unlocked the bootloader via HTC Dev however this is where I become unsure as to what avenues I can explore for flashing.
I'm assuming as I've now unlocked the bootloader I can flash a TWRP recovery but as I'm S-ON I can only flash unencrypted roms and as such cannot flash say the HTC Europe unbranded RUU? I want to try and stay on a stock type unbranded Sense ROM if possible rather than flashing a custom or CM based ROM until I am more familiar with the M7.
There is a plethora of info and hence I'm finding it difficult to get to grips with what ROMs would be suitable.

With a S-ON phone you can only flash Signed RUU that are for your phone CID, MID and version-main. You also can't flash older RUU than your version-main.
With S-OFF, you can flash Signed/Un-signed RUU of your choice (you'll have to change your CID and maybe your MID)
Flashing a stock rom (not talking about a RUU here, but a stockish unbranded custom rom) doesn't requires S-OFF, simply flash using custom recovery. ARHD 93 is a good starting point imo.
Many thanks for the reply - I am aware that the question is slightly noobish and as such I am appreciative. I'll install the suggested ROM and work from there.
Again many thanks
Unable to entery custom recovery
okay this is less than ideal... flashed every type of custom recovery to no avail but unable to boot into recovery.
Tried fastboot erase cache before and after flashing recoveries.
When selecting recovery 'entering recovery' appears at the top of the screen, after a few seconds the screen goes black for a second or so then back to the 'entering recovery' which never actually happens - Its like it hangs on loading the recovery.

Flash mdmower's twrp recovery
http://android.cmphys.com/twrp-m7/
Right it seems I've managed to make a mess of this - I've foolishly relocked the booloader on a custom recovery and now I can't get it unlocked again - It reboots to recovery and just hangs and wont unlock the bootloader.
I've tried using the rom.zip from the RUU and flashing it in fastboot to which it reports it cannot allocate the space in bytes.
I've tried running the RUU which fails at checking headers on step 1/5
RUU I'm trying to use is RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_O2_UK_4.20.206.16_Radio_4A.23.3263.28_10.38r.1157.04L_release_353143_signed_2
Is the recovery partition perhaps corrupt as I'm getting absolutely nowhere with this paperweight?
I'm now at a loss and most peeved!

You can't flash a RUU version that is older than your actual version-main when the phone is S-ON. To unlock a bootloader that was relocked with a custom recovery installed, you either need to reflash a signed(official) firmware or a ruu since this is the only thing that the phone will accept in this state (locked and s-on).
Unfortunately i can't find any 7.18.206.51 firmware so you'll have to reflash the whole phone using the 7.18.206.51 RUU which will reset everything back to stock and wipe your files.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24352994023702662
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
htc_fastboot flash zip PN07IMG_M7_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_O2_UK_7.18.206.51_Radio_4T.35.3218.16_10.33Q.1718.01L_release_459056_signed.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
than you'll be able to unlock again.
Don't forget to use htc_fastboot.exe for the flash zip command (not the regular fastboot.exe). A quick search on androidfilehost.com for "htc_fastboot" and you'll be able to download it if you don't have it already.
Outstanding... Flashed back and unlocked the boot loader. Spent enough time and frustration this week so early night and will try flash a recovery and ArHD tomorrow.
Can't thank you enough
Grrrr... Flashed the recovery suggested above and the phone just does not want to go into recovery.
I've tried:
Powering down from Android and then going into Bootloader just stops on Entering Recovery.
Power down, entering bootloader then reseting the phone - again stops on Enterng Recovery.
Power down from Android, power back up, master reset - again just stops on entering recovery.
screams...

Did you tried the old TWRP 2.6.3.3 version? Ive seen a lot of pple only being able to use this version when newer ones will cause the exact problem you are experiencing. Might worth a try.
Solved! TWRP 2.6.3.3 works.

Then I can flash any Ruu I want if I change Cid and Mid to match Ruu with S-off? Even if it's from 4.3 to kit Kat or Lollipop?
Thanks and sorry for hijacking the thread.

not exactly,it depend what phone variant you have. If its a M7_UL or M7_U then you can flash any M7_UL or M7_U RUU youd like by changing the CID and MID. If you want to flash a lollipop RUU you need to have at least hboot 1.57 with a 6.xx.xxx.x firmware already installed on the phone. Firmware can easily be updated if needed when s-off.

Ok, thanks.
Gonna try flashing first a Kitkat Ruu and then updating via Ota to Lollipop.
