So sad

I agree that it's sad the Nexus 6 won't have an LED indicator. Don't know why, because it's extremely useful. But theres an app you can download called NoLED.
http://www.devasque.com/noled/
Here's more info on the Play Store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.led.notify&hl=en
Might have to use that if you want some form of notification light. There's probably some more apps like this but this is the most known.

There is already a thread on this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/notification-led-t2906565
Please continue discussion there.
It is also posted in the wrong section. All questions belong in the Q&A section.

LED in Earpice

I almost trade in my cruise, but I noticed that the LED on the earpice does not blink..we tried to plug the charger, does not turn orange or green..so I back out..the store dont want me to open a second one.
I saw a guy buying in Fortress (in HK, it's been here since last Friday), and it does not blink as well... well but it really looks like a LED on it..
looking for the brochures.....to check
Sure it's not just the light sensor?
It probably is, the scroll weel thing seems to do all the blinking.
its definitely a light sensor
Cheers
LB
Yes it’s a light sensor. I mentioned this in an earlier thread. It allows the backlight to adjust automatically to its surroundings.
Sorry evryone..just got mine...
It is the light sensor...too much on my Cruise...
ok, so there is no led on the diamond? that s not common for an htc, and that s not very convenient to know if you missed some calls or if your device if fully charged etc

Lol there is an array of lights around the directional control. It lights up veyr nicely, and much more noticeably than the tiny LEDs on previous HTC devices. It glows with a slow pulsating when charging, and flashes when there is a missed call or SMS (according to your preference settings).
"It glows with a slow pulsating when charging" and when charging is over it stops pulsating or is a solid light ?

Network Status Light

In earlier devices we always used to see a green light blinking in the earpiece which showed that the network is available but in Diamond I do not see this. Can you all confirm if this is normal ?
If you used the search you could see that the LED in the earpiece is a light sensor. So there's no blinking light
Thanks reply is faster that search

[Q] Flashing charge indicator?

SO i have had a desire hd and oh that the charge led flashes green if the phone is on. Is something similar available for our nexus 1's?
PS: Please excuse my rubbish english.
IIRC there's an app that utilized the charging LED. I'll have to search for it.

I know for a fact that Light Flow can control the charging LED.
Just tested it quickly; in 'Direct mode' with notification 'Phone signal' enabled, the charging LED is solid blue (I chose blue color).
You can choose blue, green, red (isn't working for me), orange, turquoise (=light blue), purple (=blue) and white (=pink)
Blink does it too. There's another one posted here somewhere I haven't foound.

LED under the earpiece?

I have had the phone for about a week now and I love it, however one of my big complaints is that the active notifications do not show any battery info, charging or percentage blah blah blah. My phone died the other night and when it was plugged in it had a bright green LED under the earpiece. Any other time I've plugged it in it has never come on. Does anyone know why it would come on one time and never again? Has anyone else seen this elusive LED?

I saw this on a display model at ATT with a dead battery. The earpiece was lit by a green LED.
maybe try lightflow?

I thought the same thing, and I played around with it a little and couldn't get the light to come on. I'm just curious because motorola made the point that LED's don't give any information like active notifications give, yet they still put one on the phone. It just appears it barely ever comes on.
We definitely need to figure this out!

Never seen an LED on mine, but very interested in this. Would be awesome to enable it!

Anyone figure this out? I saw the same light under same circumstances but can't control it.

LED Light Answer
Found the answer in the owner's manual, of all places, on the page "At a Glance" with the illustration of the phone's features. The arrow in the diagram points more or less to the sensor right next to the earpiece. That small oblong is not just the light sensor to turn off the screen when you have the phone up to your ear. It also houses the Low Battery LED. Sometimes it really does pay to read the instructions, however boring they may be.
Low Battery LED:
This LED lights up when you plug in your
charger and the smartphone’s battery level is too low to
power on the display. It means that your smartphone is
charging and will be ready to use shortly.

Knowing that Motorola's way of Notification LED was their Active Display, it would be redundant to have the Notification LED too.
Even with root there's no physical way to enable this light in other circumstances?
I emailed LightFlow and got this reply:
Hi
Sadly it doesn't really have much led hardware in it. There's one
green led which I think can only be controlled with root access from
the experiments I've tried with a user.
Cheers

I'm pretty sure it was confirmed that the LED in the earpiece was connected directly to the charging hardware found on the MotoX. What does this mean? It means we will probably never be able to take advantage of it. It's nothing the software can take control of.
Just to throw this out there, will this work?

There seems to be no LED indication light for notifications. Is it possible to turn in on?

I do enjoy it. The only time I miss it is when it's in my pocket. I used to see the blinking LED on my old phone.

There *is* actually an LED on the Moto X. Page 2 of your owners manual. Although it only comes on when your battery is so low the screen can't power it up and you plug it in to charge. No one has seemed to be able to get it to work besides that.

I use Voxer (if you don't know what it is, it's a "walkie-talkie" type messaging app, it's in the Play Store) and upgraded to Pro, which gives you "Extreme" notifications. When I get a message, the camera LED flashes. Kind of nice.
