Well my phone has a burning plastic like smell, I have asked for replacement
Good
I have replaced my phone for other problem but that smell is present on this phone also...
May be it's because of the water resistant coating.

Yeah I also have this smell on my device.. But as my device doesn't get heated.. I suppose this smell due to the plastic used in our device
Just opened the package, and started the phone. i was deleting large file of my sdcard, my bramd new phone started geting hot with smell. what should i do? should i observe 2-3 days with complete charging discharging cycles?
I got a replacement, though its not heating that much but the smell is still present. its coming from headphone jack and usb port. we can notice it only when i place my nose on it. did anybody check it?

Hey guys, for the past 4 months or so now my headphone jack has been a little funny. Sometimes I go to touch it it goes staticy/stops playing music. Now almost everytime I touch my phone while its plugged in my car it'll stop playing or go staticy as well. Long story short, my jack is messed up and iknow its not the headphones/aux cord. Was wondering if you guys think I should get warranty replacement? Or should I get a brand new device? I do have an upgrade. Im not too thrilled about the phones that are out now not gonna lie. But what would you do in my situation? Thanks

My headphone-jack also got messed up. I repaired this easily myself, it had just the problems you're describing.
I took a Q-tip and cut it to the right size to fit in the headphone-jack WITHOUT it loosing all of the cotton in there.
Then i messed around with it until it came out with a huge piece of dust.
I've had to do this twice to get my jack working.
One alternative would be to take some tweesers and pick the dust out with it.
And no, i wasn't able to see any dust in my 3.5mm jack. Try it, it's for free and it worked for me.
I had a similar issue where my headphone jack just died completely. Tried to clean it out but it still wouldn't work. Finally called and had a replacement phone sent to me since I'm in the same boat as you and waiting for a newer qwerty phone to come out and didn't want to re-sign with a D4 for 2 years seeing as that phone is getting a bit old itself.
Unfortunately, almost 2 months in and the headphone jack died again. I'll have to try calling for ANOTHER replacement. Hopefully they don't send you one that dies as fast as mine. I know that occasionally if you have the same problems over and over with a particular phone they might send you a different one with your same contract terms. Just make sure you stay nice and friendly with the rep Good luck and let us know how it works out.

So so gutted! Only had the htc one for a week and it feel out of my pocket onto my solid slate kitchen floor and well lets just say it couldnt have been a better face plant! Didnt even touch the sides...just face down slap bang on the floor!
Am I the first?
To top it off no insurance.......and no repair shops that either stock the parts as is so new out and if the tear down tests are anything to go by its a pig to even replace a screen! Just my luck.....only one thing I could do which is to get it repaired by htc.
Being shipped off tomorrow and im dredding the email that is going to rob me me of my hard earned ££££.
Anybody had experiance with htc repairs?

I'm lucky, I get phone insurance with my bank account. I rang them to switch it over as soon as I'd unboxed it as I knew if I left it alone this would happen!
Good luck getting it fixed!
Please help me keep track of replacement parts for this phone. So far I have found:
LCD + Digitizer
OEM Battery Samsung
OEM Battery from eTrade(cheaper)
2A OEM Charger
Rear Housing Sapphire
Rear Housing Grey
Back Camera Module
Flex cable with SIM holder and wireless charging pins
Flex cable with charging port and mic
How to take it apart
Do this at your own risk, remember that you have 1 year warranty, you should first try getting samsung or AT&T to replace.
Would be great if a replacement back was available. I contacted Samsung and they said one is not available and do not have an ETA when it will be.

Only one way to find out
If you can get a replacement housing and a s4 camera sensor and then mod them together... I would use some type of sealant and put it around the edge of the sensor and take a drop of water and see if it gets past the housing. Of course do this before putting your system board in the housing... Just as a test. Not sure if it is worth it to you but if we could successfully mod the S4 camera on the active and keep water proof I think most active users will do it. It appears that samsung thought about using the 13 mp sensor but changed their minds because of supply demands.
If I had some extra money I would give it a shot. But my wife would get mad for me tossing out around 30-50 bucks for just a chance of a working mod. any unmarried people out there willing to try?

1 year warranty applies. I won't worry about it and am happy that it won't just fall out. The cavernous type aren't appealing either.

You gotta ease it in buddy. You cant just ram it ballsdeep right away.
I have never before in my life poured water on any of my devices on purpose, so I was kind of nervous doing this, but hey it was fun!
Uhhhh...... Why did you do that. You realize that you just got a lot of water inside your phone via the ear speaker. It is highly possible that something will short out, and corrosion will build up all over inside of the phone, possibly damaging it slowly over time.
Really shocked as I work on WD phones all the time and know they can get bad.
Well done I guess...
Why??
Thanks for the test but I feel you shouldn't have done that...
If it was water proof, IP7 standard, then that is the only way a test like this would even be uselful.
Or logical.

Dude! You've just sentenced your phone to a long and slow death. It may appear to be fine right now but over time that liquid contamination will begin to eat away at the sensitive components of your phone.
If I were you I'd strip that phone and go over it with a cotton bud dipped in alcohol. I've seen what water does to the phones and it's not pretty.
